Heliodose

Creamy, lush, radiant white florals wrapped in a softly sweet, powdery veil; snowy white, velvety, deeply indolic, and utterly beautiful. While searching for a truly all-white floral that would completely sweep me away, I never expected to find it here; and certainly not through tiare. In fact, had someone told me this was jasmine-based, I would have believed it without hesitation. The absence of jasmine surprised me so much that I genuinely wondered if there was a mistake somewhere. To my nose, there are countless indolic white florals hiding beneath the surface; tuberose included. If anyone tells me otherwise, I honestly can’t bring myself to believe it. The impression it leaves on me is that of burying my face into a mass of immaculate, smooth, slightly dewy, and deeply sensual white flowers.... There’s a touch of green freshness, paired with a soft, semi-sweet, powdery musk; but all of these remain firmly in a supporting role. I loved it. Truly, deeply loved it. I ordered a sample so I could dip my toe into Marlou as lately I have been fiending for a fresh, sensual, full bodied jasmine/white flower scent and this is it. This very well may be The One. So pretty, so creamy, makes me want to go on a long walk on a spring day. It does change for me as I wear it just a little bit, but mostly turns a bit sticky sweet towards the end of wearing it which I am shockingly fine with even if that sweetness that comes with indolic scents is why I never "got" ones like Lust. I suppose I don't mind because it's less thick and pungent, think the difference between fresh maple syrup and blackstrap molassas. Friends weren't fans as much as I was initially, one even pointedly mentioned it smells like grandma perfume in a mens room, but they seem to enjoy it when I wear it day to day so it was likely the paper test that was the issue. Really excited to try more Marlou as this is allegedly their most tame.

My first foray with a Marlou scent and I look forward to trying more. Wearing Heliodose gave me the urge to find someone to go on a date with, to soak up golden rays on hot summer days, and to store them inside me; I've become a silky, white petaled teacup. I'm living on fresh pollen. Remarkably green and expansive, Heliodose creates the imagery of morning dew on tiare and sun-dried clothes, sun-kissed skin, and sun-loving chlorophyll. Although nowhere listed, I can pick up on a bubblegum tuberose hiding in the mix. These flowers are plush, comforting and coalescing, like down feathers, and ultimately compassionate. Again, there is something ethereally sweet here, sucrose of the supernatural type, fairy kisses maybe. The day my sample runs out I fear I'll wither up and fade into a mirage.

Another incredible perfume from Marlou. Heliodose is you, in and out of sleep, in the back of your friends minivan driving down the highway after a long day at the beach. Your kinda sunburnt, your thick layers of sunscreen leave a slightly oily feeling on your skin. Your sweat mixing with the salty ocean water. It's almost sunset and you can hear your favourite song playing on the radio. The hot air blasting through the windows is blowing your sticky hair in all directions. You haven't felt so carefree in a long time. You don't care to look perfect or polished. You just exist in your natural form. Heliodose has a special place in my heart. It's an incredible scent of summer. Not FOR summer, OF summer Full bottle worthy Marlou, you have done it again ❤️

I smell tiare and the instinct is tropical, humidity, heat.... This is a tiare that I won’t reserve for summer days as it’s less sunny and more sensual/animalic the longer it settles. It has a gorgeous funk that I associate with true gardenia... Marlou’s DNA is here, with its kinda lipsticky, spilled liqueur-on-fur vibe at the base. After 3-4 hours, I smell unburned incense in the musk and indole. I’m not surprised that the perfumer behind Corpalium created Heliodose, it shares a similarly intimate quality... I couldn’t commit to any Marlou scent before but now I have two. My favourite grey, cold, windy weather is here and I could happily live in Doliphor and Heliodose for the rest of the year.... A pure joy to find.
