Poudrextase

Wear poudrextase if you’d like to smell distinctly French without actually being French. The French are known for not erasing natural body odor, right? They just apply perfume or body powder, and the natural human musk (and funk) blends in. A little natural odor is sexy. Poudrextase opens with a strong animalic punch, characteristic of house Marlou. I get a lot of civet and costus with powdery raspberry toned rose, a little discreet cumin. The powder is light and soft, and I’m not even a powder fan. It reminds me of an expensive body powder my mom had when I was child. Sometimes I’d get into that powder and smear a little across my forearm, because it was so rich it was almost moist. The way it spread across my skin actually made my skin feel silkier. That’s the powder in poudrextase, not drying or dusty but silky. The personality of this frag reminds me of baroque interior decor, powdered cleavage, plush fluffy down bedding. Waking up naked cuddling with your lover after a night of lovemaking. Blissful, familiar, intimate, cozy and warm. It straddles opposing worlds with ease: sexy & innocent and dirty & clean. I feel like I could wear this one without offending. The dry down is my favorite phase, where it smells a little muskier, sueded and sweet, a “you, but better” fragrance. Edited to add these things: fwiw fragrantica has not listed the cypress note in this. I just got my full bottle of poudrextase today and my husband noticed it on me and said it was sexy. Total win.

So, so pretty. To me, this is what "skin scent" SHOULD mean: a gentle musk, a bit textural in a powdery, silky sort of way. The rice powder grounds it, and the dry rose and musks and powder are blended so expertly that it's sort of hard to tell where each note starts and stops. It's a clean body smell for sure, but still (delightfully, for me) a body smell, with just enough warm-skin-musk to make it interesting while still remaining very much appropriate for daytime/public/polite company wear. It's soft, but not delicate, and would make a nice day-to-night fragrance- very much something you'd find on the cluttered vanity table alongside a few bouquets of dark red roses hung upside down from the edges of the mirror to dry, an antique jewelry box with pearls and such spilling out of it, and an array of abandoned cosmetics. The person who does their makeup at the vanity is the type of person to use a cigarette holder- like, the cigarette exists, but its smell isn't on their hands (or in this perfume, really. It's just part of the vibe.) The brand copy says it's a "subtle affair" and that lands, for me. It's a bit of a gateway animalic, with a sweet, balanced powdery-incense-y drydown. I think it would traditionally be called "femme" but frankly I'd LOVE to smell this on absolutely anybody. I can't get enough of it. I plan to buy a full bottle and wear it whenever I can get away with it.

im not exactly sure what it is, but every time i smell this i feel like sneezing. this is powdery, awfully spicy, its almost burning my nostrills. somehow, this is still rather nice. chic, in a dusty way. god, i dont even know what im smelling. i love it but it feels like im having an allergic reaction. im not getting anything animalic, skanky or sexy about this. just sort of... old. but not grandma old, more like victorian vampire old. this is so fucking sharp and spicy holy shit. also this is definitely more iris than rose. kinda creamy but very dry. edit: okay i figured out what the problem was. this perfume is very concentrated (for me at least) and a single spray in a single place is a death sentence for the smelling experience, you have to really spread it out and rub it across a big surface area. after smearing it on my neck and both arms the soft creamy rice powder and dry, sweet rose got a chance to really shine through and blossom. the spiciness is still there, but its taken a back seat and is nowhere near as overwhelming. i like this even more now that the spicy peppery veil that was clouding it has been lifted. also, this is rather unisex! more fem leaning because of the rose, sure, but i could definitely see a guy rocking this.

Just wow! I’m slowly venturing into animalics and musks. I smelled Carnicure about a year ago and I was a bit intimidated and couldn’t imagine how I could wear it. Despite Carnicure’s commanding and demanding smell, I was still drawn to it. Fast forward a year and I discovered Poudrextase. It was still exotic but not nearly as Carnicure. Of the three Marlou perfumes, I decided to get a full bottle of Poudrextase. I tested it at home and the dry down intoxicated me. It was carnal, erotic, sweaty, sweet and warm. How I have longed for a simple fragrance to evoke pleasure and soothe me ( yeah it sounds sexual but that’s not where I’m going) cerebrally. Despite my new found love for this fragrance, I was still cautious about wearing it in public; is this too much of a personal scent to “share”with strangers? I began to ponder how could I share this and make it smile? I thought of notes that were sensual but “clean” as Poudrextase is definitely on the “dirty”side. Instantly the juxtaposition Nasomatto’s Silver Musk came to mind. OMG! My mind is blown! What a bright, sensual and slightly skanky aroma! Clean but slightly sweaty skin. It lofts around , intoxicating me. Oh my oh my. The fragrances layered is a personal tonic... a thing of beauty.

Poudrextase paradoxically chills me in its convincing human warmth and sebaceous rawness. It is the smell of human skin, adorned with environmental sediments of all sorts, the smear and smudge of cosmetics, the expression of body odor mingling with the day's lotions and rose-scented perfume. It's the sweat from unbreathable fabrics and the skin's exhalation after wearing pantyhouse of moisture-wicking underwear following a long day of being a living, breathing human being. It smells like the truth of Victorian hygiene rather than its idealized myth. It's the less glamorous but just as sensuous effluvia of sex blended with the smell of Ponds cold cream and a closet of fur coats undisturbed for forty years. Cinema verité for the nose, greasy coils and oily creases, a bender where one wants none of the devilish details but still peeks through all voyeur-like, Unwashed scalp, dried perspiration, and the coda of reckless abandon where one had a one-night stand at someone's apartment, could not brush their teeth, and chose to chew violet sweets to cover morning breath before their walk of shame.

I don't understand why the notes here changed lol, I don't think they represent the fragrance at all, nor do they correspond to the brand's own description of the perfume: rice powder, rose, cypress, civet, and tonka. There really is no Poudrextase without rose and civet, in my opinion. Upon first spray, Poudrextase is very powdery to my nose, dusty almost, like opening a box of dried rose petals. The civet gives it that animalic, sexy edge, a little pungent, a little warm (perhaps this is from the tonka too). Poudrextase is quite a sexy and "clean" scent to me overall, clean like a powder-covered boudoir. It does have that skin-like quality and is a bit pungent, yes, but not unwearable or particularly provocative. It lasts a long time, 6-7h, depending how much you spray (and you really don't need much), doesn't project much in my experience, but I do smell it on myself throughout the day when I wear it. I'd definitely wear it to a first date, to embody a hotter and more mysterious version of myself. :)

I am absolutely in awe of this scent; I have smelled most of the scents I see it being compared to on here, and there is nothing quite like it. It smells a little like a powder roll-on deodorant (like a teen deodorant that's specifically powder scented), mixed with plastic dolls, mixed with animalic notes that somehow feel very animalic but not at all dirty? If you take the animalic powdery quality of Musc Ravageur for example, this is nothing like it. In poudrextase, the animalic notes are so well-blended with rose and makeup powder notes, it just sort of adds depth without adding a fecal/poopish notes (versus Musc Ravageur, which feels (to me) very fecal). It's almost like if Love's Baby Soft went animalic? I am wearing Unspoken Musk from Francesca Bianchi on my other wrist, and it's making that one feel wholly sweet in comparison. They both evoke dank dollhead, but Unspoken Word now feels plasticky and cherry, and this one feels powdery (in that deodorant way) and rosey.

this perfume is really great. extremely evocative and unique, while being completely wearable for most. this fragrance is quite animalic, like how a warm sleepy cat smells right after it's licked itself clean; musky and very warm. there is a lovely, vintage powder smell from both the rice and the powder notes; to me this is reminiscent of my mother's old makeup powder. piercing through the animalic and powder notes is a rose that is somehow both dry and arid yet also sweet and jammy. this might be my only complaint with this fragrance: the rose note is a bit too sweet for my liking, especially in the context of the rest of the notes here. the performance isn't too strong but i think anything stronger than this would be inappropriate. longevity is excellent, however. i do wish the rose was a bit less jammy and that the animalic notes would shine through just a bit more. otherwise this is a masterfully made fragrance by a spectacularly creative house. 9.25/10 overall :)

Just from the sample I have and have worn, I know this fragrance is absolutely beautiful. I am in love with it. In the beginning it is sweet with a hit of a natural and powdery note. At the same times the animalistic aspects and musk come through and remind you that this fragrance, like its counterparts from Marlou, is slightly dirty and skanky. On skin, for me, this fragrance developed into a nice, rich, much warmer and slightly chocolatey scent; it was as if the playful sweetness slowly faded and developed into a much richer scent. However, the same musky and powdery elements still remained. Compared to the three other Marlou fragrances - Corpalium, Carnicure, and Ambilux - Poudrextase is definitely the sweetest, the cleanest, the more innocent of the bunch. Where the other fragrances are much more raw, sweaty, and dirty, Poudrextase is subtly skanky and intriguingly wearable. Love it.

I didn’t detect the skin-quality of this at first but after a short while, it hit me like a truck. Like a long-since-faded ambiguously rosy fragrance left on the collar after a day spent...doing what exactly? I can only imagine the person wearing this having lounged about, avoiding both city and forest. It’s mildly electrifying, I can imagine this would be very tantalising to smell on someone you’re attracted to. I think it’s a tad weird for me to wear as a man, but I know my younger, more androgynous, self would have worn this and adored it. I think I might gift this to a lover one day, because this is what I want him to smell like. Edit: I ended up receiving this as a gift and have found myself loving this, even though I suspected it was a scent I only wanted to smell on others. Layers beautifully so I can't wait to layer this with Carnicure.

I'm currently exploring powdery frags and picked up a sample of this from Lucky Scent. Marlou's Poudrextase opens with a strong animalic note that my nose/brain has come to identify as/associate with civet. I can't possibly state how much I dislike civet! Thank goodness that note is quite fleeting in this very interesting, deeply compelling fragrance. The dried rose, soft powder and the most delicate musk I've ever experienced, create a languorously sexy dry down that wafts continuously around the wearer for hours. This absolutely conjures images of tangled sheets and moonlight playing over sweat soaked satiated bodies😍 Totally fbw for date nights and especially evenings in with that special someone. If you want him/her to "come and get it" GET THIS!

Another one of those perfumes I seem drawn to that are so different on different people. So beautiful, gives everything that a musk lover could want. The subtle florals ride over on a cloud of soft skin musk, but don't be fooled, the end has a true animalic tone that is not going anywhere. Gorgeous. This is no easy to wear office perfume, and also one that does best with one spray alone. More overwhelmed my nose. Must be sampled to see how it works on you. I just started my romance with this one, and expect it will be a lasting relationship if I don't overdo it. Obviously, from the other remarks, you can tell it's either celestial perfume heaven or meh, very much depending on if your skin likes this or not.

A lot of dried sweat on skin after a super intense workout, or... something like that. You're eating some of the red Turkish delights as you cool down, the powdered sugar is getting everywhere. A super warm scent, in my opinion. I get a lot of sweat, with a beautiful clear cut powdery rose. This is a VERY powdery perfume. The funky sweatyness is just perfect to me, I am a massive fan of human scents, and this is almost a 10/10 in that category. I'm a fan of basically everything that's going on in this fragrance, the muskiness is quite similar to kiehls, except it's tuned up a notch. Dries down slightly sweet, and with a noticeable touch of civet. Projection is kinda intimate, longevity is good!

Powdery and sensual with just the right amount of stink. I really don't get the "piss" note that others are mentioning, but it does smell remarkably body-like. The opening has just a hint of a citrusy floral note, then the resins come out (very soft, not as smoky or church-y as Carnicure,) and the rest of the dry down is lovely oily powdered skin. I'm not well acquainted with vintage perfume, so this might be a pretty unremarkable composition to those that are, but to me it's wonderfully unique, different to anything else in my collection. Out of all the frags in my Marlou sample pack, this one is near the top of my list to get in full size.

Truly a beautiful perfume, I genuinely do not get the comments that find it very animalic in an offensive way, as while there are faint notes of Civet it is not offensive at all. This perfume smells powdery and floral, with a soft and clean finish in the nose. Only a faint musk but not dirty, rather like a soft kitten who has just cleaned itself. This perfume leans more feminine, but a man could pull it off in a very alluring way. Overall I love this scent and everyone I have shown it too has as well. I have not yet encountered anyone who found it offensive or skanky in the way some of these comments have described.

It's beautiful, it's odd, is musky, it's dusty/powdery it's straight up polarizing. It's not a safe blind buy what so ever and if you're feeling cocky reading that then reap what you spray (looking at you tik tokers). I myself love this perfume, it's on the more femme side of skin note perfumes I like which I don't mind. I would say it's almost rose potpourri that's been sitting on your grandmothers vanity for awhile with a heavy splash of vintage cold cream (the makeup remover / moisturizer not actual cream) which I very much love. I've had people say they love it, and a few that said it smelt like cat piss.

I've read all the reviews but this scent must just compliment my chemistry...lucky me. This stuff makes my eyes roll back into my head. It's absolutely sublime. The delicate rice rose powder supporting the otherworldly musk. Omg it's so good. I don't get sweaty postcoital vibes at all. I perceive this as a very clean scent in the beginning drying down to a milky soft musky rice powder in the end. The best girly musky powder...it's Heavenly. I adore powdery perfume and this is a must try if you like them too. Not even close to anything like baby powder. No, this scent is grown and very sexy.

One of my absolute favourites. Addictive. I can't smell anything offensive in this at all. Other reviewers have made me worried that I'm disgusting the people around me with this scent. But I have only gotten compliments. A very soft and slightly sweet, powdery rose, a touch of delicious creamy rice powder, and a gentle musk. The musk is more clean hair and skin than barnyard or animal hides. Smells innocent but also maybe a little erotic as well. Haunting and intimate. Definitely not for people who dislike powdery scents but I happen to love them.

This is beautiful. It opens with a strong animalic, somewhat fecal note that dissipates quickly and dries down to a warm, dry, dusty rose with a touch of creamy sweetness layered on a soft base of dirty, fleshy musk. This is the scent of a boudoir - cosmetics, powder, slightly wilted flower bouquets, and skin. Pourextase is what I imagine Manet's 'Olympia' would smell like, womanly and carnal. The atomizer emits quite an intense blast, so for me, one spray is more than enough.

what i imagine my pheromones smell like its definitely musky in the most sexy way ever!!!!! but then its a nice WARM comforting scent with a slightly sweet powdery dust like note (kind of like old makeup powder). think of a woman who reads anais nin, erotica, loves red and cheetah print, goes to antique malls for fun, and has big beautiful hair update the more i wear it the more sensual it gets, its very pleasant i ended up buying a full bottle of it!

I loooove this perfume and wear it all the time - it's my favorite at the moment. It definitely has the animalic smell that other Marlou perfumes I've tried have (carnicure and ambilux) but the rose and powder notes lighten it up and make it more wearable. I generally don't gravitate towards floral/powdery perfumes, but it's so interesting. Feminine and powdery but still kind of funky. I get compliments nearly every time I wear it!

the notes listed on fragrantica here are misleading imo... where's the rose? yes, lactonic skin a la heliotrope milkbath but poudrextase lands clean, a bit more refined, rather than cozy. it makes me feel like i really have my stuff together, polished. while i can see the baby powder comparisons, the rice powder isn't heavy handed or suffocating like that (linen vs flannel). clean and dirty, refined but animalic. love !

A civet bomb. The first blast is sharp, and intense. With Puodrextase, you can smell the story this fragrance tells. A quiet morning with your love, soft whispers, playful kisses, sweat, saliva, and warm blankets. Forehead kisses as your hair is stroked. Poudrextase is all of this, blended wonderfully into a salacious masterpiece. This is good for men and women, and will layer well with other fragrances.

Sexy sexy sexy. I love how hot this perfume is while being very much grounded in linen, baby powder, and potpourri rose. It's not heavy, overly musky (it is a little musky), or baby-sweet, but is still a very erotic, sensual perfume, fulfills my fantasies of being a French countryside live-in maid, fucking my boss on top of a pile of fresh laundry in my sun-spotted bedroom. I love you Marlou!

The perfume that made me fall in love with powdery fragrances. Smells so intimate it almost feels taboo, like you shouldn't be smelling it. A perfume for a beautiful, neurotic, perverted woman trying to hide a secret, like what I image the characters Isabelle Huppert plays would wear. The dried, 'old-world' roses get slowly overpowered by the animalic base revealing itself.

I think I’m in love! I may have finally found MY musk! I’ve been searching for something gothic. It seems I prefer some pretty with my goth, I always did. Rice powder, pot pourri dried roses & dirty musk. Not the smell of getting made up to go out but the smell of waking up the morning after. Wearing this fragrance is always an emotional experience for me and is my favorite juice from Marlou. It smells as if you been making love all day and still smell like the sweet powdery scent of skin from your lover. The scent wraps around you lightly and sits close to you all day but you will smell sexy to others who come into contact with you.

This fragrance is great. I’m really not getting much of the dirty sweatiness that seems to be mentioned a lot. It initially has that very clean hospital smell, and not long after the musk and rose notes really pop with a soft skin like scent underneath. I as a male wear this fragrance as I think it’s amazing but it is definitely more feminine.

Dusty potpourri of red rose petals in a puff of animalic, cosmetic powder. The scent that Claudia's room would have in "Interview with the Vampire". Evocative, delicate, vintage smelling. Somewhat gothic. The animalic character does come forth as unwashed hair a bit...but it is a type of skunk that I like. Nice projection, excellent longevity.

sexy and sophisticated. vintage woman in a mink stole and a slit to her thigh offers you a cigarette in the alley outside the bar. a vodka tonic in your lover's bed. dried roses heated by the afternoon sun in a musty room full of leather bound books. i can understand why some may not like this but i can't stop sniffing my wrist.

I am obsessed with this perfume. I got the sample and I will eventually get the full size. I explained it to my husband this way. It smells of a woman who just had sex and is powdering her face. Sweet. Clean but dirty. Musky. Powdery. It makes me smell my inner wrist all day and it really is very aphrodisiac at least for me.

Gorgeous. On me this opens with a strong sexy note. It's got the stank. This settles down after a couple of hours into a powdery note with an underlying animalic note and finally into a powder that's almost honey. The rose gives it an underlying floral note that is still dark and unlike any rose I've smelled before.

one of my favorite samples so far! makes me feel like i am pulling a sweatshirt out of a heavy wooden chest. the sweatshirt belonged to someone i love but is not in my life anymore, and smells like them, smells like age, smells like the chest seeping into the fibers. a very comfortable and warm fragrance.

I got Marlou's discovery set and I think I will end up purchasing a full bottle of this. It's effortlessly sexy, affectionate, naughty but wholesome at the same time...if that makes any sense. To me, this is like the olfactory equivalent of cuddling and falling asleep as the little spoon.

I used to deal for a short bit and kept my stash in my underwear, wrapped in a sock. This smell reminds me of that and is also incredibly gorgeous and wearable at the same time. A perfect balance between ambilux and actual extasy smell. I just love the animallic accord Marlou uses.

I ordered samples of all Marlou fragrances and both Carnicure and Poudrextase stood out to me. Poudrextase is comforting, soft with hints of rose, the hours-old smell of soap on the neck of your lover, and cat fur (don’t worry, it’s a nice scent). I’m in love! Smells like home 😊

This is surprisingly wearable fragrance for a man. Don't be fooled by the rose note ... it is one dirty sexy incarnation. I get people leaning in for a sniff all day. Great longevity and sillage. House of Marlou are unable to put a put wrong with their animalic lust scents. 9/10

Decadent, melanchonic rose, boudoir mood due to rice powder. Animal notes are strong in early stage, but they recede and become pretty subdued in the middle and final, ĺeaving an overall dirtier than Putain des Palace intimate vibe. Wanderful and crazily addictive.

Did Marlou or Fragrantica changed the notes of this perfume? I’m quite sure there was rose and make up powder on the notes list. In case it was not reformulated, then these notes here are now very misleading!

This is the only civet-forward fragrance I’ve been obsessed with so far. I’m usually a hater. Theres a worn panty thing going on. The rice powder and rose elements are 😌. Don’t wear it to work.

the most wearable of the marlou scents for me. inoffensive, feminine in a sophisticatedly sweet way. super powdery with a hint of dirtyness- not at all as dirty as others may suggest.

Oh la la. Powder puff rose, with the lived in touch of civet and a sort of sweetened oat cereal. Warm and resinous but intimate, silky soft in vintage underwear.
