Beautiful spicy rose with hints of smoke and amber in the background. This is definitely unisex and one of my most complimented scents - for me personally it's more or less the perfect oriental rose. I find this very similar to Aramis Calligraphy Rose but that is a real powerhouse, can only be worn on select occasions and can suffocate those around you if you apply too much. This on the other hand is more subdued and therefore much more versatile. I would say they are at least 80% the same scent but Greenwell Fire isn't as loud even though the longevity and sillage are very good. I definitely prefer this to Aramis Calligraphy Rose as it has been blended perfectly and isn't cloying like Calligraphy Rose can be. It also smells expensive and you will get noticed when wearing this. All in all a great substitute for Calligraphy Rose, especially when you're looking for something more toned down which can be worn on a regular basis. 10/10

An amazing fragrance,no idea why Fragrantica list it as a female fragrance,when I have always been told (I work for a fragrance company) that all Mary Greenwell perfumes are unisex. This me reminds me of smokey incense,dry & resinous woods.A fruity Gothic version of Aramis Devin. As Tallulah Bankhead once said to a bishop swinging his smoking censure."Darling,love the drag,but do you know your handbags on fire" I also have the iconic Plum by Mary G. and there are hints or gorgeous Mirabelle Plum here too. I have heard that this wonderful fragrance is soon to be discontinued.So if you see it on offer,or any other Mary G. perfumes,grab them while you can.

My most loved among Mary Greenwell fragrances. Very well blended, terribly underrated and sadly discontinued. Talking about chemistry again - very powerful and long-lasting on my skin. Spicy elegant rose with refreshing woodiness and balanced smokiness. No ingredient that would stand out for me personally, which is a great sign, - you can wear it anywhere, even though it could be a signature scent, - memorable and complimented fragrance. I also happen to love heavy lid and elegant clean lines of the bottle.

Fire smells like a citrus fruit that went to finishing school and now refuses to speak to its working‐class relatives. One spray and suddenly I’m in a sun‐drenched villa wearing linen trousers and making life decisions that involve the phrase “my sommelier.” The opening hits like bergamot that’s been personally coached by a life guru. It’s bright, it’s sharp, it’s extremely self‐assured — the kind of citrus that would absolutely correct your pronunciation of “croissant.” Then the spices arrive. Not chaotic spices. Not curry spices. These are posh spices, the kind that live in a marble kitchen and only come out when someone says “artisan.” They swirl around like they’re auditioning for a fragrance commercial where everyone runs in slow motion. As it settles, the woods come in with the energy of a man who owns a sailboat but has never actually sailed it. They’re warm, smooth, and slightly smug — like they know they cost money. The drydown? Imagine citrus, spice, and woods all trying to look mysterious while wearing sunglasses indoors. It’s elegant. It’s warm. It’s a little bit “I only drink water from glass bottles.” Do I feel fiery wearing it? No. I feel like a candle in a luxury hotel lobby — decorative, expensive, and slightly intimidating. It’s polished. It’s chic. It’s the perfume equivalent of someone saying, “I don’t do drama,” while absolutely doing drama.

A nice fragrance but astonishingly weak considering the normally long lasting notes listed. Your definitely hit with a zap of grapefruit. bergamot and incense on the opening. The pepper, oud, nutmeg and patch become more evident with the alcohols dissipation. After 30 mins or so I become aware of the osmanthus and much less so the saffron. If you like spicey fragrance but not one that is heavy and too pungent then this could be a winner for you. The citrus and osmanthus keep it relatively airy and easy to wear anytime. The sillage and longevity are both moderate at the most.
