Genji

Oh my gracious! Genji! Where did you go!!?!? This was like a combination of Senso (Ungaro) & Ciara 100%. Why it was discontinued is beyond my understanding. It's a shame that Mary Kay followed the crowd to market sweet, light, (boring) scents when this beauty could have (does) stood the test of time. It was rich, heady, floral, spicy, herbaceous, had enormous projection amazing silage & was a powerhouse of beauty & class. I am sad I gave away my bottle about 10 years ago. I recently revisited the classic Avon "Candid" & it reminded me of Genji. It is unfortunate when such beautiful perfumes are discontinued when so many people truly use them as their signature scent & their family/friends associate that scent with their loved one. I guess nothing can last forever! I'd love a decant or sample if anyone is willing to sell to me, please pm me. Thanks! <3 Cheers!

My aunt got this for me when I graduated in 1986, and I loved it. I always got so many compliments on this. It's heady, great smelling stuff. That old bottle is long gone, but I recently got another. I don't think they make this anymore, which is a shame. The older perfumes have better sillage and longevity. The bottle is absolutely classy, and gorgeous too. This was amazing back then, and it's still amazing. Glad to see they added it to the data base. This is pricey on ebay, but worth it.

This is very interesting and well blended, but there’s a way that the musk and melon fight with one another that just doesn’t work for me. But then again, I find both of those notes challenging in general. The amber & patchouli are so nice in this, but mostly I get musk. The middle notes seem to be missing. However, my bottle is from the 80s, I think and they may have just burned off. **I actually think this could be great on a guy. The drydown is a lovely woody musk, and my vintage bottle gets there rather quickly. FWIW

So my hubby and I popped into our neighborhood vintage store this Christmas Eve, and wouldn't you know it? There was an almost full bottle of this, in box, on the shelf. I'd heard of it before, but never tried it. Bought this and a few other vintage beauties. You only need one small spritz of this to last all day. I tried it as soon as we got home, and it's still going strong seven hours later. My god, this is stunning. This, right here, is why this 32-year-old lady doesn't buy modern fragrances anymore. They don't hold a candle to vintages.
