Matsu Sakura

Soft, light, aquatic florals; sweet pink fruitiness glows throughout, right into the powdery musk drydown and beyond. A clean and very feminine scent, intimate and suitable for everyday wear. It's astonishingly longlasting as well; 12 hours+.

Photorealistic Pear and Sweet Pea are the dominant notes on first spray. If you mixed Lancome Idole and a vintage bottle of Body Fantasies Sweet Pea, you'd get this fragrance. The cherry blossom/white musk florals blend well with the synthetic water notes, but I'm not picking up the lychee as strongly as the notes pyramid would suggest. There is a hint of sweetness, which I am attributing to the lychee, but its not the overpowering gourmand sugar candy kind of sweetness. It's a bit more mature. I'm so happy to find a pink/white floral (without the contemporary pink pepper note that has shown up in everything as of late). This fragrance does feel true to the late 90s early 00's, when the synthetic and aquatics were new and everywhere. But it also feels like it grew up beside those of us who wore these fragrances and has matured with our tastes. This is a pink/white floral that is femme but doesn't want to smell like a teen flower bomb. The drydown after a day of wearing is so lovely. I think I like the drydown on my skin more than the initial spray. Getting more subtle sweetness and musk notes in the drydown. I loved Lancome's Idole but it continuously triggered migraines. My search for another strong pear fragrance led me to this one and God is a Woman. I avoided Ariana's perfume because of the lack of preservatives and lots of synthetic notes which tend to trigger headaches. Matsuri Sakura has a similar profile to Idole, but is less intense on the aquatic notes. Overall, its much more mild than Lancome Idole which IMO makes it nicer for an office/daily wear fragrance. I may try spraying my clothes the night before to see how it is the next morning. I am going to layer this with Rituals Fleur De Himalayas (Peony Fragrance), and/or Kayali Musk when I want an extra punchy pink floral for spring. Could also layer well with a green fragrance like chanel crystalle eau verte or no 19. Notes: on clothes, I get more of the aquatic notes. Fragrance and sillage also lasts much longer on my clothes than on skin. I think the fragrance is overall a bit warmer on my skin, and I can pickup the sakura more. If you are sensitive to headaches I'd recommend skin application. This is like most aquatics in that the synthetic note can be extra. It hasn't yet triggered a migraine but if you are sensitive to aquatics I would recommend testing it before buying a large bottle. Edit: The aquatics are not as strong as Estee Lauder's Beyond Paradise, CK Eternity, or Lancome Idole, but are still noticeably present. They don't smell as chemically as the ones listed above.

Sweet and soft. It's like a cloud of delicate pleasure. It reminds me of a comforting body balm, subtly scented. Quite fruity, nice scent for almost all seasons, especially spring, fall and mild winter.

It's a nice fruity -floral fragrance. Don't expect something groundbreaking. I wanted to be more subtle I think it's very sharp but fades away quickly. I don't get "metallic" not but to me it gets a bit sour at one point. I think you can skip this one. There are many perfumes like this one.

I wanted this to be more lychee in the beginning but the pear overpowered it. slowly becomes more handsoap than i like. Super intimate sillage

I really wanted to like this fragrance, but it has a weird metallic feel to it, that is not pleasant to me. A good aspect of this fragrance is that it’s quite “cool” - it will refresh you on a hot day and the opening notes are quite alright, not beautiful, not gorgeous, but not bad either. However, after 30-60 seconds it just lays a little flat on me and the metallic notes come up. I haven’t worn it outside yet, only tried it a couple of times on my wrist and it lasted 1 hour max, so I tend to believe that the overall longevity of this one would be around 2 hours at best. I could compare it to Fleur de Pecher by Karl Lagerfeld in my collection - a very realistic peach blossom that also has a “cooling” effect, but also doesn’t last or project that well. Fleur de Pecher is a much better blended scent overall, a much more elegant and elevated fragrance. I would choose that one over Matsu Sakura any day of the week. Overall: 4.5/10

Matsu Sakura is absolutely lovely in a soft, almost baby-like way. It has a gentle sweetness with aquatic floral notes and a touch of powdery musk. The baby pink bottle suits the scent perfectly. Japanese brands never fail when it comes to creating scents like this. Lovely lovely thing! Update: Used this baby today and I notice that infamous eggy/fishy musk note that wasn't there the first time I tried it :( Urgh this is not fun, Musc Outreblanc by Guerlain is another innocent, ethereal scent that is also ruined by the raw/animalic/fishy/eggy undertone.
