Love Kills

Adore this! Wow is this a stunning scent. I typically don't gravitate or have any interest in fragrances advertising rose notes anymore after some bad experiences with rose scented perfumes. However, I was ordering some samples from lucky scent, and wanted to try out this brand. I bought it on a whim, and I think I just found one of my favorite fragrances yet! This is a very green, fresh, almost zesty/grapefruit leaning rose. There is for sure a note of some sort of juicy fruit in this. Think of smelling the stems of a freshly cut bouqet of rained-on roses, and then smelling the petals right after. Often times people liken rose scents to a grandma or "old lady," but this is youthful feminity in a bottle. An intelligent young women, who knows her path and won't let the tragedy of heart break stop her. I'm a huge fan of the Ambrette in this fragrance. The cedar note is very quiet, and more like a compliment rather than an addition, it works well to keep the fragrance grounded. 8/10!

Intense but perhaps not the prettiest of roses. It's a damp, steely, green bunch of dark red roses, with strong thorns. They are past their best bloom. Ambrarome smells rather sharp and a tad synthetic. As a rose lover, however, I realize that rendering the rose scent to a perfume so that it's beautiful, strong and long lasting isn't the easiest task. I absolutely respect the venture of Love Kills, I even enjoy it quite a bit, but it isn't The Perfect Rose for me. Edit: Changed my mind, got a fb. The quality of my bottle seems higher that of my sample. Love Kills blossoms as its best in rainy autumn weather. I admire the fact that all the other notes support the rose, they don't compete with the rose. Love Kills is a masterly creation, one of my favourites in the house Masque Milano. A merciless rose, only for hardcore rose lovers, I'd say. Absolutely gorgeous🌹🌹🌹

Fills a very similar niche as La Fille de Berlin, in my opinion. I've never realized how much of a rose/geranium lover I was until I smelled both of these. I will say, though, where LFdB dries down a little sweet and soft, Love Kills keeps its edge all the way through the drydown. I notice that the rose in Love Kills also persists a few hours later, whereas with LFdB it fades into the background with the other notes. Love Kills is like the younger, edgier, more prickly sister of LFdB. If the latter is a mature gothic woman, clad with a Hermes Rouge H purse, the former is her baby bat sister holding a black pleather bag with metal spikes and eyelets. LFdB is a rich, brownish red; Love Kills is a sharp chartreuse wearing a red lipstick. Undeniably related, but very different and developed into their own characters.

A beautiful deep red rose with earthy touches of patchouli, herbal green touches of geranium. This is so easy to wear if you are a rose lover of either gender. Seductive without being to overt. It isn't the oud animalic middle east rose, it isn't the spicy cinnamon wine filled rose of the holidays, it isn't the fresh Dewey pink rose of spring and summer, it isn't the vanilla desert rose jam rose, it isn't the lipstick iris infused rose. It is the deepest and most perfect red rose in full bloom. Full of tart and earthy seduction. It hypnotizes and completely captivates you with its power and it's sensual beauty. As if the rose petals were turned to velvet. Soft, sensual, bewitching. A kiss from a beautiful and beguiling man or woman .. take your pick. FB worthy.

Masque Milano Love Kills (2019) - dusty rose - Initially I thought @carolinedumurparfumeur ‘s perfume would be like the countless other rose perfumes in the market. Yet, she shows me a unique work of art. At the start I was getting a shiny and metallic rose: Rose oxide! A floral hologram. A floral green Rose-like top note, fruity with hints of citrus mixed with mustiness from Ambrette. Then, it’s heart I get the reveal: beautiful Turkish Rose oil mixed with Geranium and Lychee. Reminds me of an actual Rose - dewy petals and at its peak. Yet, it’s drydown continues the journey of the rose to its death - Rose mixed with an ambergris-like molecule, Cedar and earthy Patchouli. Dry and dusty - the flower going back to the earth. Petals awash. Bravo.

Oh, this is such an obvious and nonetheless beautiful olfactory abstraction of Romeo and Juliet, it's not even subtle (it has the "What's in a name" quote on the box 😊). It mirrors young love that blooms, burns brightly and dramatic and when the flames die out, the petals scatter to the wind and the memories of love linger in an ambery bitter sweet haze. I was almost too quick to dimiss it as a simple soliflore. Well, it is a soliflore, yet not a simple one. It holds so many different facets of the rose, the green, the pink, the red, the dark, the withered. Passionate, romantic and nostalgic, made with love for rose lovers🌹.

Love love love. One of my favourite rose perfumes. Fresh, clean, stunning. This house has some golden stars. I find most of the ones I’ve tried to be daring and unique, but very wearable. And this is no exception. Everything from concept to the juice, very pleasing and spot on. Wish I’d bought the large bottle instead of the 35ml. If you love rose, than no need to sample this. A must have addition to your collection. 10/10

Gorgeous rose soliflore, but not a simple, boring kind. It goes through three different stages: First is red, thorny rose with stems and leaves. Second is beautiful lipstick rose in full bloom. Third is soft and sweet jammy rose. Longevity is excellent. Very feminine and suitable for any occasion, just be mindful of how much you spray. You must be really into roses to appreciate this one though, considering its full price.

Truly smells like you have buried your nose in the most glorious rose. Usually roses get paired with powdery notes and thankfully this one doesn’t at all. I don’t really pick up many other specific notes, but I know they are there. I also like layering it with Tom Ford Ombré Leather.

What I got on the strip & my clothe is a divine sweet oriental rose, but on the skin I get a hint of Guerlain's Rose Nacree du Desert & Songe d'un Bois d'Ete (now Bois Mystérieux) instead—soft rose and wiffs of incense & wood.

Pure aroma, rose from three different, it's different is that love kills "living" red roses, it's a complete exhibit of roses bloom to wither life cycle. Geraniums as decoration, fresh green leaves simulation

To me this is super concentrated rose oil diluted in gasoline, not sure what's causing this as there's no violet leaf in it. A very beautiful rose regardless, if only it was more affordable.

Beautiful pure, elegant rose. As #dadipi below indicated, wonderful in colder weather. Absolutely stunning contrasted by the dry, crisp air of winter here in the UK, and perfectly unisex.

This is just a beautiful sharp red rose very realistic. Very misty. i absolutely love it. Didn’t blow me away first weeks but now that is a tad colder... oh gosh. Beautiful!!

Reminds me of Lyric Man. Soapy, Green rose soliflore with a slight musky animalic edge. A bit of ambergris.

This a long overdue proper sampling of Masque Milano Love Kills, the third entry of Act III and one of the house’s 2019 releases that I had the privilege of first smelling last June at Perfumology. It’s a fresh, green, citric rose scent with Turkish rose, geranium, patchouli, cedar, and musk. It seems to contain a healthy dose of geranium with all of its spicy, herbal, fresh, and sharp sides. What’s not to like? It’s balanced, not overly sharp, with good harmony between the rose and geranium, and it’s romantic, as its name suggests, while not being especially heavy or feminine, so it’s versatile and year-round friendly, as it works perfectly well on this cooler winter day but would be nicely boastful in the heat of summer. An easy winner of a release from Masque Milano, which has a good variety of challenging and easy-to-love scents. It’s priced at $158 for 35ml, within the current range of Masque Milano pricing, with a 10ml travel size also available for $57, at great boutiques like Perfumology. 7 out of 10

From a fresh, metallic rose with thorns to a wilting flower in old water to dusty petals - Love Kills takes you on a journey. Very successful case of story telling through fragrance and worth experiencing for that reason; this remains really interesting throughout the wearing process. Having said that, I usually reach for a metallic rose when I want to kick some ass, and in that sense the transformation to a woody, earthy rose in the dry down is less satisfying, pretty as it is (the sillage is really lovely, subtle and airy but present). As others have noted, the middle stage with the musky, sweaty notes is not super pleasurable either. Nevertheless worth a try if you want to experience a rose in all its stages; cleverly done and with a thrilling name to boot.

Wow, this opens quite sharp with an metallic, green rose and softens into something almost reminiscent of my childhood perfume that came with the life size Barbie. Both nostalgic yet grown-up. The longer it sits the more gothic and dark is becomes, nearly perfectly encapsulating freshly fallen rain on a bed of thorny roses. Somehow fresh yet gloomy and perfectly Autumn. I love this way more than I thought I was going to, as typically florals are not my go-to. Layering combo: I had Odette Pas De Chat on my other had and kept getting a whiff of both as I was testing them and it smelled so incredibly cozy, unique, and darkly coquettish. This fragrance actually has quite decent projection and longevity (~7 hours)

I didn't like this scent at first, but then I remembered it somehow. I tried again and II think I was unfair. The opening is full of roses and bliss, but slowly it starts to drift towards a dark side. It is as if the blooming roses are slowly withering and a drop of black blood is falling. Ambrette is not soft here, it is quite mellow in most perfumes but not here. Patchouli never overwhelms the scent either. I like it.

清甜的麝香玫瑰 水潤的荔枝玫瑰,體溫高一點的時候甚至有水蜜桃感(不過他要的表現應該是低溫的金屬感),看了官網介紹除了用了很好的玫瑰原料之外,黃葵也選了IFF旗下的天然原料公司LMR的Ambrette Absolute,香氣表現跟Matiere Premiere的Parisian Musc一樣,在我身上除了乾淨的植物麝香之外、還會有蜜感的花果香,蜜甜蜜甜的 主角玫瑰在黃葵的陪襯下非常水靈,廣藿添加了一些深度和綠意,但沒有把氣味拉到藥感或是西普玫瑰的方向,天竺葵的清新也讓玫瑰沒有太過鮮豔脂粉,算是開的很平衡鮮活的玫瑰 氣味底層有麝香、龍涎、黃葵和雪松的鋪墊,玫瑰盛開之後、體溫的暖意會加入,氣味收結在乾淨舒服的base,動物感或是體味的部分我身上都沒有,就是很潔淨的肌膚感

A very green, spicy rose. Interesting but not for me.

I’ve smelt MUCH better rose based fragrances. This seems more geranium heavy rather than rose. The entire concoction smells chemically. The Ambrarome comes from the methylation of labdanum absolute, to give a deep amber-woody smell with animalic undertones. Not that there’s anything wrong with synthetic aromatic compounds (they are more affordable and readily available) provided that it doesn’t smell synthetic. Towards the end, the overly warm and fluffy musk becomes cloying, resulting in a dry-down reminiscent of baby shampoo. I love a good rose scent (in fact they are my favourite) but unfortunately not this one. The best (and most realistic) pure and simplistic rose/musk combo I’ve found so far (with no oud) is Arabian Oud’s loose oil called ‘Musk Mutasallik’.

Probably the most realistic rosey rose perfume I've smelled yet. I keep avoiding them since I don't like rose perfumes but samples keep finding me. At least this one I can appreciate for picture-perfect realism. If you bury your nose in it and breathe slowly you'll find some soapiness in the background that obviously goes along well with the whole idea. My favorite remains Tauer Incense Rose because it's a shapeshifting mastermind that ends up not smelling of either but if you love damp overpowering roses then go get this one.

This is a sweet, hopeful rose. Fully bloomed with fleshy petals, baring it all and hoping you like what you see. It starts bright and juicy, like the first bite of a ripe peach. It extends into petal powder freshness, with geranium to add a bit of green border. The dry down settles into a cozy musk with supporting amber-honey sweetness. A very honest and beautiful rose. Not my style but I can appreciate it's beauty.

unempressive rose ...for this price really? a little personality would have been welcome however, in this style which has marvels for a tenth of the price

A sharp smelling, unremarkable rose fragrance. No bad, but not great either. Reminds me of Diptyque Eau Capitale, which is much better value.

Meh rosey soap with a bit of musk and patchouli. It's fine. Not bad not good.

- Geranium overload. It ruins the fragrance for me. It's very metallic almost bloody but covered in cheap powdery rose air freshener. nfbw Edit Jan 2021 I tested this fragrance again and I smell more rose than geranium this time but it's still powdery. Now it reminds me of Saab Rose Essence with lots of geranium. Anyway I still don't love the fragrance but I can appreciate its blend and quality.

This perfume is very nice right up until the body odor/sweaty feet note turns it into a hard no. Maybe cumin? Definitely not a warm weather scent. Scrubbable for me, bought the FB, wish I hadn’t..

Totally agree with Joustin Caisse's comment below. Geranium Kills would be a more appropriate name. I had high hopes for this, but the geranium was so potent I had to scrub it off.

Love Kills, Masque Milano (Final Assessment, February 4, 2025) I wear Love Kills 3 times already. Being said, I really enjoy Love... ...Kills. Love Kills stellar quality based on quality of Material. Along with natural story telling. It is bold Rose fragrance but it's non-assertive. It really wears like a rose through the time. From Red Lush to Soft Decay. No, It is not like Rotten Flower but if you are relatively close to Rose. There is certain time that Rose starts being Decay slightly. There is soft green-rotten tone / a thing that slight dirty kind of musty animalic. Get stronger But you know? In this context, it really suitable to the theme of True Rose. After all, it still wear like a Rose Fragrance it just through a time. I am connectable if someone compare this to POAL, but to be honest. POAL wears stronger in Amber / Incense tone. It is not Rose Centric. But in Love.. ..Kills, it is. They both just build on kind of Similar Amber aroma chemical. But Love.. ...Kills really wear like a Rose fragrance that closer to Rose in natural behavior. It do wear slight perfumery Grandmarish Rose, Kind of Tea Rose / Ambrette Rose. But it also counter balance by Natural Quality of Material that brings you to the Rose. So It kind of my fragrance now. Not so complex, but beautiful rendered. I have only 4 Rose Centric in my selection now. Which is Roses from Perris Monte Carlo which I won't compare it wear very different. I can only compare to Une Rose - FM, which hyper-pixelated vivid detailed Rose Fragrance. But it lost it charms 4 hours post wear to a powder-rose scent. Love.. ...Kills, is stable even it is not as vivid, but it really wear beautiful for long time. And that's fascinating. You just need to be a mood for A Rose to wear Love... ...Kills. At 4 hours point; this is where it intact with you, the dirty thing. As scent; I think this is classified to classic Geranium-Rose genre with high quality material. I think this would be slight easy to wear but not quite. must be kind in the mood. Not a bad, unpleasant scent but the development easily rub you the wrong way. it is not a kind of girly rose perfume even the opening is righteous beautiful, the fade is truly raw. There is a few rose I think when I am wearing this, mostly it is - Rose de Taif; by how the rose construct (Strong geranium with rose but in Love Kills, geranium is really sweet). - Amouage Opus IX / X - The Dirty musk amber from (Smell like Wax,Skin and Animalic). - Goutal Ce Soir ou Jamais; the ambrette Rose. - Rose Barbere; there is soft funk undertone that very familiar. After instant please from Love part; the Kill is something I am not so sure. It is pleasant nonetheless but I believe you might highly need a decant before buy. In that matter; I think "FM-Une Rose" is more perfect Rose-Genarium fragrance manner. But if you will to accept that every loves have the flaws. I think you should try Love Kills. I am willing to wear this a few more time before make final assessment.

Opens with rose. After a minute it's a STRONG geranium. If you're a fan of Geranium Pour Monsieur by Frederic Malle for men, this will be right up your alley. My buddy U Smells Good loves geranium, and I believe he would love this one. This fragrance is highlighted by the geranium IMO, and not the rose, although they're probably evenly mixed. Geranium just has a louder sillage. I've only owned the discontinued G-Man, and this one has a similar vibe. I do own 35ml of this one. I love the sprayer, although sometimes it malfunctions, but the mist is pressurized and sprays great. It's nice if you're into geranium, and straight geranium can be too much. This fragrance opens with a soft rose, a loud geranium, and after a couple of hours, it's a soft rose again. Geranium fragrances are nice for switching up to. This is a pleasant mix. So into this! I am not someone who typically gravitates towards florals, but this rose scent is beautiful. It is lushness with an edge. It lasts all day, too, which I appreciate. I wore it to a friend’s home yesterday, and he immediately told me I smelled good. Most of my fragrances he can’t smell, because the scents disappear between the time I leave my apartment and get to his. I miss the time where fragrances lasted like this. I am in my mid-40s and throughout my life I would buy a bottle of perfume and there was no question about whether it would last. Over the last 8ish years I never know without testing a few times. Love Kills not only smells absolutely gorgeous, but you will catch wafts of it all day. Outstanding.

This is the major rose mix.. Once i sprayed this on a blend came up to my mind right away.. "Lustre" by Hiram! i don't see that they are identical but the amount of roses that has been used on both of the blends makes me connect these 2 blends together! The geranium is kind of mix harshly with Turkish roses that you barely can detect it after 30 minutes in rather than detecting the mix of high dose roses, & some bits of geranium. Ambrette, patchouli, & musk are there but the dosage of roses is conquering the blend. If you adore roses, and some geranium this this blend is going to blow your mind along side with "Lustre" by Hiram. Pretty.

Intriguing names always draw me in! Whilst not a huge fan of general rose and geranium combo, I've recently warmed to it after an absolutely fabulous hand made bar of rose geranium soap I got recently. This reminds me of that, although the rose is more the vegetal fresh rose than I generally like here. If you like fresh, green rose, this is for you. very much reminds me off agent provocateur edp except less green, damp, and if agent provocateur reminds me of a damp forest or garden with a bed of roses hidden somewhere, this is purely the bed of roses, much more smooth with sweet mist covering the leafy and soil aspects, leaving only a slightly musky and soft aroma of pretty flowers. definitely signature scent worthy but i like my perfumes a tad bit more confusing and even off-putting if not much more cozy or smoky. a very realistic rose, but a little too pretty for me.

I love a complex fragrance. This isn't what this is...but maybe it is...I dunno. It's a deep dark rose. Not a freshy. I love the powdery dry down and it is somehow always lingering in the background. I must say : this one needs a few minutes to become what it is.initial wrist spray was all windex. It doesn't take long to settle though and once it does it's just so sexy ...so elevated...alluring. I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. But I do love it so much and wish it had more love out there on the interwebs.

Very pretty rose, but the name conjured up something deeper, darker, and more interesting. This was a blind buy, and as a rose lover and Masque Milano fan I had no reservations. However, if I could go back I might reconsider. In fact, I probably wouldn't purchase it. Love Kills is definitely a beautiful perfume, but nothing earth-shattering or interesting enough to come back to. It will probably find a place in my collection as the latest Masque piece, but I doubt I'll spray more than a few times,

Another rose. While I don’t love the opening (a bit soapy and rancid, similar to what I find in Radical Rose Extrait—do you see what I mean?), the evolution is more interesting. It gives way to softness, a freshness reminiscent of morning dew, but also to spices. I can’t quite pinpoint what’s adding the spicy touch, but I want to believe it’s ginger—it has a lemony, tangy quality. In any case, this fragrance is full of subtlety. As it settles, it leans towards the scent of dried flower potpourri.

The good = Love kills is a pretty straight forward, well done rose soliflore with good performance and longevity. Fortunately, it doesn't use that tired old rose accord that seems to be in most perfumes these days. The bad = it's a bit boring; I thought the name "love kills" might feature something dangerous like maybe a thorn or blood accord for story telling. A nice perfume, but having a lot of nice rose perfumes already, leaves me a bit indifferent.

Had to review again as I got another sample in a swap - this is a luxurious geranium rose, feeling very earthy too - the patch, cedar essence, give it a soil kick but only if you really pay attention, it's mostly the roses that shine of course. Ah..Love Kills. Such an intriguing name for an even more exquisite fragrance. Love Kills, to me, is a perfect opposition. It's fresh but also dark, beautiful but also haunting. The rose here is fresh, green, earthy...everything I love in a fragrance. The earthiness probably comes from geranium and patchouli wonderfully mixed in creating a mysterious, sensual scent that I thoroughly enjoy.

Love kills is poetry in a bottle. Starts off with a spicy rose fresh red mature dewy rose Then becomes a sweeter more mature aging rose Ending being a powdery rose petal....before it fades away to a skin scent. Gorgeous i love it, romantic and distant. Wear it with black clothes and red lipstick during Autumn and Spring.

Blind smelling this on a blotter. Sure enough, it's rose. However, a more apt name for it is Geranium Kills Rose. This is either a rose fragrance for geranium lovers or a geranium frag for rose lovers, but to me it's not the celebration of rose I was hoping for. Still worth sampling, IMO.

I am a rose fragrance fan so purchased a sample from The Perfumed Court last chance/sale listing. I think maybe my sample had been sitting for a while because I got a very faint close to the skin scent lightly reminiscent of rose. Pretty and short lived. Lasted maybe an hour.

Trying sample of this now & opening for me super dominated by very citrusy spicy geranium for quite a while (at least a half hour). This is not to my taste, but early performance is very strong, so if geranium is your jam, worth a try.

Love Kills, by Masque Milano, smells like roses, whiskey and a little bit of a fecal scent. I am not the target audience for this.

I like the combination of rose and geranium, but the addition of Ambrette makes it syrupy sweet. Not for me

A rosy rose, lovely for rose lovers, not for me. 6/10
