Ribot

I received a sample of this as a gift. Very grateful for it. I would not have tried it otherwise. It is a fantastic fragrance. I agree with most of the previous reviews below. Comforting, slight animalic, leathery. Posh stables!!!. I really do enjoy it. Others around me do not like the opening and the hay is not a favorite of some. I do not see this as challenging by any means. Again, a fantastic fragrance. My first sample from the house. I have been interested in Lost Alice and Russian Tea but have yet to try them. The only issue with Ribot for me, is cost. Can't do it. I mean, if I had $$ to just throw away, then yes. But as it stands, €750 for a full bottle. Mind blowing. If i happen to win the lottery I may grab it and a backup bottle. Certainly worth a try.

Love at first sniff. Very masculine and elegant. Looking forward to making this my daily driver for work once it starts to get colder. There is just a tad bit of sweetness but not too much, which I'm thankful for. To me, this is what the Parfums de Marly DNA could be if they were to tone down so much of the sweetness they put into their fragrances and made them more "masculine". Very happy to have this one! A treasure to have in the collection.

When Papillon Salome and PdM Godolphin (or TF TL) makes love. I need to get a hold of Salome now. Nice! Edit: OK, this is not entirely true, although layering the two above is rather interesting. This has a well rounded cold-powdery vibe, with a slight weird-grandma thing / rotten cemetery flowers. Super elegant perfume

Excellent fragrence !! Quality very Debonair 🎩😎 Presentation is like a Patek Philippe Box and you can remove the bottle holder and use it as a jewelery Box .

spicy, leathery, woody and slightly resinous. probably one of the most transparent, natural and dense smelling perfume i have ever tried by now, smells very special to my nose and a must try scent for people who seek something different. the opening smells like herbs, saffron and rosemary, with some sweet hay tones on the back. the herbs and spices are so natural smelling that you feel like you stepped inside a herb shop full of high end expensive spices but it never turns into cooking spice curry territory like ambre sultan from serge or amouage royal tobacco. as it dries down it gets sweeter and warmer and the hay+ sweet jasmine + slightly animalistic leathery notes get more revealed with some sandalwood that i get but is not listed here. the combination of hay and animalistics gives the scent a warm, humid and sweet feel to it that you have to experience to appreciate but at the same time it got some sort of off smell to it, something like bad breath or rotten-fermented but its very subtle but noticeable enough for me to demote it from a "love it" kinda scent to only "like it" and reduces the wearability aspect for me considerably. the late drydown smells strong on hay and spices+ coumarin+the slightest of african resins and woodsbut the way they integrated the resins here is very light, super light when you compare it to most arabic perfumes like amouages. the longevity is great, around 11 hours on skin and projects nicely for 4-5 hours.

The hey note gives off the same leather-stable touch that I love in Hermes Galop (quince+rose combo is featured front and center there). I find Ribot soft and posh in the same way Hermes Galop attracts me, despite the fact they are no dupes. If I could test it longer in order to make sure that it won’t lean waaay too masculine (it seems that it sufficiently does), I would consider adding it to my wish list. Until then I’ll either wait for someone around me to wear it and to bring it so to my nose, or wait until it can be sampled more readily. Since it’s being pushed forward by the brand, I’m going to ignore the hype wave, until objective reviews are available. There are some accords from ELDO Rien and its intense version. Even if you find Galop a bit fruity and fleeting and Rien a big too loud, Ribot is actually well polished and has no roses to distract you too much with gender ambiguity or age related hesitation. It’s rather 30+ / leaning masculine. I liked the scent, but I only can prioritize purchases which I am well convenienced to explore until my confidence is stable. So for now, while Ribot isn’t vastly accessible, I’ll put it on the back burner and encourage all of you who love fine leather with equestrian feel to get your noses on it. The quality is worth your time, even if the scent isn’t exactly suiting you.

Pleasant mix of hay and light leather, but with a bit of a synthetic feel too perhaps from the clary sage, which does fit the theme I suppose (treated leather straps on the horse) but I do not love that aspect. Fairly linear so what you get from the start you get near the end, so if you really love the hay note you'll get to enjoy it throughout the wear. I like this and while I'm glad I picked it up I wish the presentation wasn't so "expensive" as its kind of a cheap box that adds a lot to the cost with no real value to me. If you like this fragrance but want something cheaper and on the same theme (but with less of the hay and more focus on the leather) thaen Naomi Goodsir Corpus Equus may be worth your time.

Very sexual woody aromatic scent from Antoine Lie with a dense animalic heart. The perfume named after a legendary racehorse gives you the aura of a rich perfumed polo player riding a well groomed horse. The scent opens briefly with notes of sage, saffron, rosemary and pink pepper. The dense heart is primarily leather and hay softened by slight jasmine. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of synthetic musk surrounded by benzoin, myrrh and tonka bean. The masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Suited for bold unafraid personalities. Enjoy!

This is what I would call the definition of "true niche." As a dedicated collector and a huge fan of the Masque Milano house, I picked this up as a blind buy because I found an offer I couldn't refuse. Do I regret it? Absolutely not. However, it strikes me as a fragrance that demands maturity—I suspect I might appreciate it even more in about ten years or so? This is definitely not a "pretty" fragrance, but it isn’t overtly shocking either. It possesses incredible depth with facets of dry woods, herbs, grass, and aromatics. Some reviews describe Ribot as sexual, and I can see why; in my experience, it leans toward the intimate side, evolving into a heavy dose of leathery musk in the dry down. It has a raw allure, though I admit I haven't yet found the confidence to wear something this bold on a date. The pricing strategy for the Emerald Collection is a bit confusing. An MSRP of $850? Don’t get me wrong—the presentation, heavy bottle, and signature sprayers are top-notch, but the retail price feels excessive. I managed to secure my bottle for around $220, and at that price point, it is an incredible addition to my collection. Apparently the "ultrasound extraction" of the hay used in this composition is a very costly process, but the MSRP still remains confusing. To sum it up, If you enjoy Antoine Lie’s creations—he is a very experimental and visionary perfumer, in my opinion—and you appreciate the artistic direction of Masque Milano, you need to try Ribot. It is a unique olfactory experience that stands apart from the mainstream niche. (Side note: I’m very curious to get my nose on Alcove from this same Emerald line, though there seems to be very little information available on it right now.)
