Tango Oud

on my skin this is basically a spicy jasmine oud scent, a lovely combo. the opening is very jasmine heavy with some leathery spicy facet mainly cumin and a small dose of cinnamon, the cumin is strong for around 3 hours and slightly lingers in the background for more so you HAVE to love cumin to like this one. the jasmine note is mostly gone after an hour and half (still lingers in the background for much more) and you are left with cumin, indian style oud with leathery woody cocoa like facets (maybe the patchouli is giving the cocoa like aroma, im not sure), benzoin and vanilla. the benzoin and vanilla give the scent an slight sweetness to balance the leathery darker nature of the scent. the ambrarome( a form of labdanum) acts as a fixator and apparently it has a leathery animalic quality to it and compliments the leathery quality of the oud. the late dry down is sandalwoody, musky, vanillic and slightly amebry with slight hints of cumin. you can find the scent for much cheaper from distributors and discounters ( for around 220$ to 270$) and at that price i would say it is a great choice for jasmine, cumin, leathery oud lovers. the performance is great thanks to the ambrarome oud combo, one spray lasts for 24h+ and projects for 2 meters for 8 hours. also the oud used here reminds me of the oud used in amouages silver oud, but here the oud is much tamer thanks to the florals and the benzoin vanilla combo.

Tango is the only one of the four that I have in the original version, so I had something to compare it with. The classic Tango was love at first sight, and over time has only gotten better - more tea-and-tobacco and less floral. And I like the version with oud even more, because the floral side in it was reduced almost to non-existence. The scent went from floral and ambery to leathery and resinous. Rough leather, woodiness with resinous notes of ROSIN. Yep, I have some weird associations with perfumes. And the Oud wood with some animalistic side is quite prominent here. It’s absolutely magnificent and will totally be my next purchase.

Mildly funky, spicy oud. Cumin and a touch of cinnamon. Interesting blend, moreso than the other oud based offerings from this house, but like said other offerings, this one doesn't do anything for me. It just is...Meh.

I think the brands who price their fragrance like this just because of the single word oud and a known perfumer, should actually either claim that they have used the real oud or show the process of creation. This is actually crazy, no information on oud usage whatsoever, and here you go dear customer, please, pay us freaking 650 euro. Scent is great. I got the sample. But what is this? A Roja-like, or a Fragrance du bois like, or some kind of designer oud like with Givaudan chemical concontion that they use in the perfumes where they date to add a "Oud" word? God knows. This is the only good smell from the 4 new Ouds collection. Cecile is a master of adding indolic florals and other notes to make a perfume stink to be able to call it oud. And still, Tango Oud is a very good fragrance if we forget about the price. P.S. waiting for IFRA regulation, where they will prohibit usage of the OUD word if the company doesn't prove the nature of a note. This becomes crazy, when suddenly a collection appears priced for 650eur each just because of the word usage. P.S 2: In a dry-down, I do smell real oud. So even though the price makes me mad, I can conclude that this fragrance use a small amount of real oud. This is not chemical oudy accord from usual designer pieces. And yes, the dry down is beautiful. P.S 3: In a deep dry down (3+ hours) there is no oud whatsoever.

I got a sample of this fragrance through their main site at €15 and was shocked to know the full bottle one was €650!!! Must be the Oud Assam.... Anyhow, this fragrance is a GREAT interpretation of the Tango concept as it includes Spicy, Leathery & Animalic facets to the fragrance. It’s also a great way to enjoy Oud unrelated to middle eastern style scents. This is for the bold and daring so if you’re the type to blend in with the crown inconspicuously, this ain’t it for you.
