Tinted Twill

This is a highly underrated gem, it smells like nothing else I've ever tried, perhaps only YSL's Muse comes slightly close with the ink note. It's an inky iris, smells like a combination of dry orris root, ink on freshly printed paper, still warm from the printer, or the warm, ever so slightly metallic/static-y smell of an iron, steamed laundry, and then add to that some clean incense. I think it's a beautiful scent, very introspective, artistic, bit moody and melancholic, perfect for those who still enjoy calligraphy and putting ink to high-quality, thick, grainy paper.

Well done eau de parfum that really does smell like remnants of blue ink on fabric, or "tinted twill". Reminds me a lot of Courrèges Le Messager. The iris give it the smell of freshly dyed and still wet fabric floating in the wind. It however also reminds me of glossy magazine pages, a note which can get a bit cloying and artificial at times. This is really is more of a skin scent, and also smells great on fabric, however I do go noseblind to it quite quickly.

I smelled it once at Massimo Dutti's and I fell in love instantly. It's the scent of quiet luxury. I imagined a person who is well put together, who wears cashmere jumpers and who has that minimalistic fashion style. You can't go wrong with that fragrance, and I really wish my whole wardrobe smelled of it.

Unique scent. Hard to find one like this.

FYI smells nothing like Synth Aura

Smells like freshly printed book or magazine, and steam from an iron while ironing cotton shirt. Very minimalistic, "not a perfume" perfume. When you want to smell clean and put together but not like you're wearing any fragrance. Totally unisex.

If you like this, try Zara Synth Aura, it's almost the same with half the price tag of this one. The iris in this is of course more lasting and of better quality. I would buy it if i didn't already own Synth Aura

Massimo Dutti Tinted Twill starts off with a very harsh opening that never quite won me over. It leans far too masculine for my taste, feeling sharp and abrasive during the first few minutes. The frustrating part is that once it settles, it develops into a genuinely pleasant blend of iris and inky notes with a refined, modern character. Unfortunately, just as it reaches its best stage, it completely disappears from my skin. Given the weak projection and almost nonexistent sillage price point is difficult to justify. It has nothing similar with ysl Muse.

There is in Tinted Twill's opening a nice iris-ambrette combination that reminds me of Fleur de Peau. Nevertheless its evolution follows a very different path. The lovely etheral grey floral accord ends up overpowered by a smoked wood scent. I find the overall result to be unbalanced, the smokey note is brutal, and the tiniest pinch of sweetness underneath isn't enough to soften it.

iris-ink heaven. i ain’t religious but i am literally praying that nobody finds out about this fragrance because it’s literally the cleanest most perfect iris scent ive ever smelled. imagine mixing Perfumer H Ink, that true dark beautiful ink accord, with the most clean subtle dry iris, and mix it with just the right amount of fresh pepper, incense & wood that it becomes this masterpiece of a dark-fresh-elegant-clean one-of-a-kind beauty. I will wear this every single day no matter the season - it’s subtle but stays on clothes nicely. It’s unisex completely, but not for little girls. I am shook and will literally buy 20 bottles when it goes on sale. Currently around 60 bucks for 100 ML so still not expensive for the quality and character. bravissima!!
