Lurra

Full disclosure, I received my full bottle of Lurra in MATCA's recent European giveaway. The scent opens on my skin with distinguishable notes of grapefruit, cedar, and vetiver. After 30-40 mins the cinnamon comes in and gives it a bit of depth along with the olibanum/ frankincense. But there is very little sweetness present. It is vetiver centric from the opening to the dry down. But it is balanced in a way so that it is hard to distinguish individual notes. Not surprisingly it is extremely fresh and natural. And the vetiver is not sharp or overly woody. It is a nuanced subtle scent that lasted 6-7 hrs. on my skin. Though I'm sure it will perform better in the Summer heat. Projection is moderate for the first 3 hrs. And it is ever so slightly masculine leaning but very unisex in my opinion. Who would appreciate this? A mature nose looking for an ambroxan-free alternative to the many blue fragrances out there. Or possibly people who have sensitive noses or are allergic to certain aroma chemicals When to use it? Spring and Summer/ traveling and vacations/ dinner parties/ meetings/ any time you need to be with others but don't want or need to stand out. I'm a self-confessed lover of 80's powerhouse frags in the cooler months. But this scent surprised me. It is not in your face, but extremely compelling in a way I've not experienced in designer scents. It doesn't change how you smell, but somehow improves your scent. It is hard for me to describe. If you love Vetiver you owe it to yourself to get a sample and try this. BTW it is very interesting how Fragrantica's rating system works. As I write this review, only 2 people have reviewed Lurra. So when I came back to see if anyone else had reviewed it, I noticed half of my current collection was listed under "People who like this also like..." It makes sense that the system is so straightforward, it just surprised me. I need some coffee.

I received Lurra as a present from a very good friend, a small 10 ml bottle. It reminds me of a garden, more like vegetables and aromatics summer garden. This pairing of grapefruit and vetiver does this to me - makes me think of summer. I also smell something like geranium or tomato leaf that makes me think of a summer aromatic garden. It stays on my skin 4, 5 hours and I love every minute of it. Waiting for July to wear it properly.
