Radical Rose Extrait

Re-reviewing this after using it for a while in summertime! Performance and projection is max, this is the strongest perfume in my collection! The scent profile stays the same, animalic spicy fragrance with dark black and red rose (thats the feeling of the rose absolute used in here). Theres no oud in this!!! You get that oud feeling because of the patchouli! Fun fact, I sprayed 1 on my neck and my mom from the other side of the house told me she can smell it, I asked my brother he said "Youre wearing the Matiere Premiere one right? " So yes, this radiates. About the longevity I sprayed 2 or 3 on, went to work (this was at 5 am) finished work, in 30 °C, went home, took a bath and at 15pm, after that bath it was still projecting, so much I could smell it on myself, and it didn't make me nose blind at all! I still want to smells some other rose fragrances like MFK OSM, FM PoaL and Ardent by BTV. But if they are not better this will be my signature for life

The best rose fragrance for me. It’s powerful, has excellent projection, and at the same time it’s not intoxicating at all—quite the opposite. I detected an omnipresent, straightforward rose at the opening (and I mean “straightforward” in a good way), which gradually developed into something deeper, darker, and more earthy as it dried down. That being said—and this may simply be how it behaves on my skin—I don’t pick up the saffron facet at all. This is the best fragrance from Matière Première in my opinion. It works for every occasion and every season; perhaps not in extremely hot weather, but otherwise it performs beautifully, even in summer. I'd definitely recommend it, even to somebody that does not like the floral scent at first. The only problem is the price, but it is the price to pay for the niche fragrances I guess...

I did not love this fragrance initially, it was interesting enough for me to be patient with it to see how it developed...but a bit of a gritty grassy / brown grass smelling combined with the rose at the opening. You must spray this on your skin, if I had not...I would not have made the purchase. When I sprayed it on my skin, it was a totally different experience. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL DARK ROSE, with more subtle complexity but it is definitely not flat or one-note. This is a unique rose, the best way I can describe it is that its complexity comes in that it keeps turning into a deeper, darker mouthwatering and cocoon-ing type of rose and then somehow in the dry down it feels more airy, soft and uplifting. It is really beautiful and just honestly makes me feel sultry, sexy...and somehow also light and happy.

Journal Entry 1: Just got it in. Smelled alright at first; however, my nose was clogged. Moments later, I could smell how good it was. It is a really good masculine rose. Think woods, and darkness, encaptured all by this earthy-mineral-like rose that is crushed and grown straight by the people who make this fragrance (because they do). It is one of those fragrances that will cover the smells of your doodoo. It's that strong. I did apply 6 sprays, but for normal wear, I would recommend sticking to no more than 5. Overall, I would have to give this fragrance a 10/10. (Rose is tricky for me, and this is literally one of the best rose fragrances I have ever owned or smelled) If you can get this for less than 300, definitely pull the trigger.

A subtle rose with a buttery, dark oud. Very nicely blended. This perfume comes across as elegant and mysterious. Something you would wear on the red carpet. In the original perfume, the rose note is amped up and brighter, but the oud smells punchy and plasticky. In this version, the rose is toned down and seamlessly blended with a smooth and expensive smelling oud. Please note though, that even though it is unisex, it might appeal more to a man since it is a very dark perfume. Also, I don't picture this as a daily scent. More like a black attire, special occasion perfume. I got an sample in original Matiere packaging from Twisted Lily. Smell: 10 out of 10 Strength: 8 out of 10 Unisex For reference, I'm female.

This is....hands down...the most ELITE rose fragrance on the market. It is beast mode, smells like money and has the perfect balance of patchouli, floral and wood notes. It's difficult to put into words just how incredible this fragrance is. Expensive? Yes. And as a fraghead, I can justify spending money on fragrances. But after being in the fragrance game for years, I gotta say that only rarely a fragrance at this price point...is worth it. But Radical Rose EXTRAIT is absolutely worth every penny. Right now you can get the 3.4oz at MaxAroma for like $300 with a promo code. And if you're on the fence about purchasing this, take this as a sign...buy it. Because this fragrance is special.

It smells like you’re sniffing the most realistic watery rose fragrance in the world from a paper strip inside a brand new magazine. That new magazine smell (leathery?) hits at the tail end of the scent trail- which is INSANNNE, I’m assuming this is from saffron. It smells so nice and addictive. Scent profile to me hits my nose in this order Rose, Sweet Amber, Lathery magazine (in the nicest way, kinda fresh?) 10/10 gatekeeping It’s hard to say if it’s better than EDP atm, I’ll give it about 1-2 weeks worth of daily and update. EDP was my signature scent btw. On first spray you’ll know this is something that will last like OSMe / Ombré Nomade / ATH, will hit 14h+ easily.

...not for the shy nor the faint of heart. This is a bold, in your face rose-patch-saffron combo. I am wearing a sample and it turns heads (for the good or the worst, i dunno). It can be esily mismatched for the classical rose-oud combo, indeed it's not the most original concoction on the market, yet it's noticeable for the purity and the quality of the components. It's a very important fragrance, that needs a personality and a proper attire, otherwise it will wear you. Very middle eastern feel. Wear in cold temperatures and NOT in secluded spaces! Too expensive, but I love it. Similar frags: Oud Bouquet (Lancôme), Shaghaf Oud.

I've tried 300-400 fragrances in my life, and this is one of the strongest. It is absolutely nuclear--on the level of MFK Oud Satin Mood Extrait. It smells very modern, moody, brooding, and energetic with its spices, strong rose, and dark tinge to it. The EDP is also pretty amazing, and it wouldn't be redundant to own both if you're a collector. I won't get this right now, but, as soon as it hits discounters for a decent price, you bet that I'll get this. It leans more toward a nighttime fragrance. However, don't be afraid to go full-on boss bitch mode and wear this in a suit in the daytime or just casually as well.

The edp has more prominent patchouli while this one has a very strong dark rose from the get-go, the patchouli is more so in the background, very faint. The edp has more transitions,but performance is weaker than this (still acceptable). Saffron too is very noticeable in extrait For me, extrait is better. This is a very good take on a dark rose, I prefer this as edp feels redundant due to many similar fragrances in the market. It is very hard to find a good dark rose fragrance which does not have oud in it. Tldr: a rose fragrance for those who don't like rose (Me)

Radical Rose EDP is a definite improvement over its predecessor. The fragrance is built around a sweet natural rosa centifolia and saffron, with a leathery note that expertly balances the patchouli in the base. The result is a timeless and elegant darker rose scent that is a true masterpiece and versatile enough for everyday wear. It works perfectly as a standalone fragrance but also pairs well with many of the popular lactonic caramel gourmands. The soft pepper note is most apparent in the dry down.

Such a modern perfume. Unlike the other rose perfumes i tried before, rose in here is supported by spices that very strong. Saffron, Pepper and Patchouli punches you in the face. I think patchouli is kind o dirty here but saffron is so strong that you cant understand it clearly. Rose is soooo natural. Absolutely Unisex (maybe a little more masculine. I used Initio Atomic Rose before and that rose was waaay too more feminine. I think its likeable by everyone. One of the best options for Winter

It’s absolutely ended the desire for me to own any other rose dominant fragrance, ever. I’m not a big rose scent person but this stuff is incredible. I own the edp, which is a very light and airy rose compared to this. The extrait just hits different. Really deep, resinous and powerful fragrance. The rose never smells too jammy sweet or too synthetic, it just gets it right. I thought Portrait of a Lady and Oud Satin Mood were untouchable - Guillard’s creation just brushed them aside. 10/10.

Beautiful! best rose fragarance I have smelt so far! Radical rose extrait also perform beastly. The most long lasting fragarance I ever own. Unfortunately I've just sold mine as I barely use it during winter and when I do, I only need few sprays. So I'm hoping just to get smaller decant in the future. Although it's a beautiful perfume to enjoy, I would think about versatility and how it suits my lifestyle in the future before getting a full bottle lol.

Wow, this is such a mood-boosting perfume. It's like a sweeter, warmer version of Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle. Just like all the rose fragrances I've smelled, it does have a slight air freshener feel to it in the initial spray, but that goes away once it dries down. In the dry down it turns into a refreshing, sweet, airy, delectable rose. It's definitely changed my opinion on the rose note, so I'll be looking for more like this

I have tried both the Extrait and the EDP. The EDP is way more bright, light and feminine than the Extrait. The Extrait is like a VERY DARK SEXY and Powerful Red Rose while the EDP is more bright and pinky. As a man that loves Roses 🌹 I will always pick the Extrait, It has a HUGE AURA. The Extrait lasts 12+ hours with good projection. One of my favorite fragrances of all time. 10/10

I feel like the trend is that the darker an oud gets, the sharper it becomes. Meanwhile, Radical Rose Extrait provides all of that darkness and richness you want from a darker oud without any of the bite. This is very smooth and easy to wear. Note that this is not an oud, but the way the richer accords pair with the rose is similar, so that's why it may gain comparison.

Wow 🤩 One of the best sweet dark rose fragrances in my collection. Above average performance. Quite linear and stays true to the dark rose. I personally enjoy it more in the evenings with cooler ambient temperature. There is a level of maturity and complexity in the profile that lends itself to be very appropriate for mature folks in formal settings. Shukran Habibi!

Masculine Rose Bomb. I’ve never been drawn to rose fragrances but this one is crafted masterfully. A masculine dark rose bold and attention grabbing. The projection is huge the longevity enormous and on clothes it lingers for weeks like a whispered memory. I highly recommend it for a man who dresses with intention and wears his confidence like a second skin. 5/5.

I loved the EDP so much that there is no reason why I shouldn't love this EXT. This is an extremely beautiful and classic Rose masterpiece. It is darker, more spicy and extremely sweet. I have to say that I love it so much because of its simple elegance and mystery. If you don't have the EDP, get this EXT right away, it won't disappoint you.

The best rose fragrance I've ever experienced. The scent profile, longevity and performance are insane. Can smell it on clothes for days and days. Despite some of the masculine comments, I find this perfectly unisex. I don’t often like rose notes, but this and bromptons (especially the extrait) made me realise how good it can be.

Perfection in a bottle. Sits alongside Oud Satin Mood and Les Sables Roses as the best rose scents I've put to nose so far. Surprisingly leans slightly masculine with its dark, jammy rose and has beast mode longevity lasting at least 14+ hours on my skin with room-filling projection. Matière done their thing with this one

Beautiful the immortelle actually improves on the previous formula. I dont know how much more this is going to project the OG was already a heavy hitter. Again the price increase over the EDP here leaves a bitter after taste. I would probably still stick with the OG since in the air they would be pretty close.

I must have tried 50 different fragrances at Harrods yesterday and this is one of the two I ended up buying. I absolutely love it. It is a velvety, rich, thick rose with an incredible backbone of patchouli and saffron. It is beautifully intoxicating and sexy. Very long lasting. Completely unisex.

Tried this and the original on each hand/wrist today. Very beautiful, just like the EDP, but less airy... Dare I say a slightly richer scent with a slightly better dry down (after like 7 hours), more earthy. All in all I prefer the EDP for its projecting airiness and the cheaper price.

I swear I wore this at 12pm , I was in the bus 12am there was still projection within 2-3 feet 12 hours later. Matiere Premiere DID AN AMAZING JOB WITH THE EXTRAITS, LV overpriced Fragrances compare to Matiere premiere. Matiere Premiere is maybe my Top favorite House

This one is way better than og RR well crafted ,stong but smooth at the same time this whole brand is underrated such an excellent brand and line up they have my fav are Radical rose extrait Crystal saffron extrait Falcon leather extrait Vanilla powder

Dark, jammy rose. Big performance! The character of the rose reminds me of Sheiduna by Pure Distance (my favorite rose scent) - though that has a little mandarin and a touch more spice. This is a fantastic, gothic rose. 10/ 10

Amazing spicy rose scent, also is nuclear, you dont need more than 2 sprays so i suggest get the smaller bottle if you already have a decently sized collection, PS you could also be like me and always get the bigger bottle.

The best way that I can describe this is a more masculine version of oud satin mood by mfk. This is far less sweet much more wearable and much deeper and richer. Probably the best rose fragrance on the market.

I love this rose, and it definitely has masculine characteristics! A bit dark, dirty, expensive rose. Maybe its a bit warm spicey and leathery too. Really a stunner and compliment magnet.

really like this one, unisex, identical to portrait of a lady but this aint incense/smoke type rather this is focused on saffron-patchouli-rose side. unbelievable performance. overpriced

This is a more mature Ombre Nomad, it has the staying power of it and rose, but its more sophisticated. It is a compliment getter for sure, people either love it or hate it. I love it!

Absolute beast of a fragrance. This reminds me of a better version of MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait. For some reason Oud Silk Mood extrait by mfk somewhat smells like a black expo pen lol.

Absolutely gorgeous, completly unisex, one spray fills a room. If you're a rose lover, get it. If like me you loved Rouge Velours, but felt it a bit weak you should definetly get it.

This makes every other rose fragrance redundant for me, it's that good. The smoothest dark rose fragrance ever, I can't stop smelling it. Lets not talk too much about this one.

It's amazing rose perfume, the only cons for me that it stays linear. As it's very strong and long lasting the linearity makes me bored after wearing it for several hours.

I bought this scent after smelling it at the store along with the Parfum version & Oud Satin Mood Extrait. I thought at the time it was the best one out of the three but after finally receiving this today I have realised it is extremely middle eastern Rose Oud kind of vibe. Someone below said it belongs to the family of Ombre Nomade and Oud Maracuja and that is a PERFECT description. Due to the price point I couldn't just keep it, so I contacted Notino and they have accepted a return thankfully. I'll be going back for either the EDP or Oud Satin Mood Extrait. I have realised I much prefer the sweeter roses than something like this which is very dark and oud like. This fragrance game is a journey and I have learnt a very valuable lesson here.

This is gorgeous. A less rose-y, darker, and heavier Radical Rose. I find it more earthy and incensey, i can also detect this delicious resinous sweet buttery oud in the dry down. I still prefer the EDP as it is more wearable all year round, but, this is an excellent special occasion type of scent. Downside is it’s way too expensive.

I don't know if I love it but at first try I really like this. For the first two hours or so I get this slightly sweet, jammy but elegant rose which then later turns into something spicy. I can't pinpoint what kind of spice it is but it smells good I think, not as good as the rose though.

Easily the best rose I've smelled to date. Rose is one of my least favorite notes in perfumery, but there's a slight sourness in this (from the immortelle and labdanum?) that keeps it from being too sweet. It's crisp and dewy, with impressive longevity.

This reads as a powdery, peppery rose patchouli scent to me. There is maybe something a little resinous from the labdanum in the base, but it's not a sticky, dark resin. It's nice, but I don't love it. If you're big into rose/patchouli scents, I think this is a good one you should sample, but it's a little too much for me. I prefer dewy, realistic rose oil type of rose; this one is more of a potpourri type of rose. It's a little dark, a little spicy, a little mysterious. I do get a powdery note too that doesn't seem to be listed here. It's quite strong, which I suppose is to be expected from an extrait. A coworker commented that it was soapy, strong, and filled the room, so I'm not sure it's a good office wear (my bad). It's nice, but not a love for me. 6/10.
