Vanilla Powder

My first encounter with VP was around a year ago with the EDP. I ordered the sample set and I was very excited to try it considering the overall hype but also I love coconut and palo santo.It was immediate hate - it was early spring and the weather was starting to warm up and I truly hated it. However, I know myself and decided to wait. Fast forward to December I was curious to try it again in cold weather – I didn’t hate it this time but I wasn’t convinced either so I ordered a sample of the extract version and I can tell you I prefer this version much better. They are different for sure and I’m in love with the dry down – so powdery and cozy. Unfortunately I have to wait around 7-8 hours for it to come cause this thing is pooowerful. I've been testing it for a week and I can say it's addictive. For those who like vanilla I think it’s perfect – it’s not your usual boring vanilla you get with some designers. I’m not a big fan of vanilla myself but this one I actually like and consider a full bottle. Edit: I got a bottle and wore it everyday during winter just couldn't get enough of it!

Vanilla Powder Extrait moved into my top 3 very quickly, and honestly, it earned that spot. My wife loves this on me, which already says a lot. It’s definitely one of those fragrances that leaves an imprint on the wearer and anyone within the circumference of your scent bubble. It is noticeable without trying too hard. Smooth, warm, magnetic, and confident. This is not just a sweet vanilla fragrance. It has presence. It carries itself with class, but still feels sensual and inviting. What I love most is that it does exactly what it is supposed to do, then somehow gives you more. It smells refined, attractive, and memorable. The kind of scent people catch in the air and react to before they even say anything. Compliments are not forced with this one. The attention feels natural. Vanilla Powder Extrait has quickly become one of those fragrances I reach for when I want to feel elevated, confident, and put together. It is smooth, addictive, and absolutely top-tier.

Aaargh... I hate that I fell in love with this fragrance! I love to sample fragrances, but I never buy samples of perfumes that cost more than I'm willing to spend. Because it's disappointing either way: either you don't like it and you wasted your money on the sample, or you love it and now you crave something way too expensive. But this sample I didn't buy. It was a gift with purchase. Totally not my fault. Yet here we are. I love this so much! It's sweet and heavy on the vanilla in the opening. Slowly the tonka bean takes on a bigger role. Later, hours later, the musk shines more. I don't specificly smell coconut or Palo santo, although it does have something slighly smoky and sexy in the background. Two sprays is plenty. This is strong, but not in a fills-a-room way. I'm actually mad that I love this so much, because it is so expensive. Does anybody know about a good dupe?

Such a sexy vanilla fragrance!❤️🔥 Not the creamy, fluffy one. And it’s not the choking smoky vanilla like Montale Dark vanilla. When I smelled the OG VP, my opinion was that “it can be anything”, it hadn’t got much character. So I was curious about the extrait version. 10 mins after spraying I started to feel literally sexy. Here, vanilla is prominent. The woodiness and tonka gave vanilla depth and weight. Somebody wrote that it’s a quite linear fragrance, which is true. Wearing it after 3-4 hours didn’t change the profile, or the notes I’m recognizing. It’s a stable profile in every stage, but it’s a freakin sexy, seductive profile! 😍 It’s so expensive that it hurt my pocket even using a discount, but I have to admit that this perfume seduced me a bit🫣

The fragrance is simply magnificent 👌🏻! To my nose, it is noticeably different from its “siblin” , the unpleasant musk has been removed, making the composition softer, deeper, and more refined. I especially enjoy the palo santo note, it feels cozy and enveloping. The tonka beans smell slightly roasted, adding a warm- gourmand nuance. The coconut comes across as very natural, not cloying, but airy and delicate. The vanilla brings sweetness, yet it is natural and elegant, not at all pastry-like. For me, this is definitely the best version compared to the EDP - more harmonious and expressive.

this has quickly became a favorite! it’s more subtle than the original, which i also love so much. if you found the original too loud or screechy you’ll love this. is undoubtedly the same dna, but this is exactly how i wish all extraits were done. it explores the same dna from the original by doing a deeper take on the vanilla and cutting back the heliotrope and adding tonka. it smells incredible. it doesn’t project nearly as much as the og BUT it last forever. i’m constantly sniffing my wrist while wearing this and i’ve been wearing it non-stop since getting it. 10/10

I purchased a sample of this and my initial impression is I like it, especially as someone who did not care for the original Vanilla Powder. But on my skin it kind of smells like Rosendo Mateu 5 Elixir if RM had an addition of Coconut and was less synthetic. I already own the Elixir so buying this would be redundant especially for how much this costs. P.S I agree with AlKhoori98 - I NEED a Parisian Musc Extrait! Update: The longer it stays on my skin the more I'm starting to love it.... Yikes Last Update: I bought it :( Its addictive

So when I 1st sprayed this I mainly got coconut. So I allowed this to mature a bit. I then did a full wear test of both this on one arm and the 1st one on the other. Even though they are similar; I also feel that they are different enough to have both. SO much so that now I have ordered the EDP as well. I think this one is a beast. It is such a beautiful and sensuous scent. It is so sexy and dense. The coconut is strong in here, but it is well done. I will update even more once I have worn it more.

i will sing the praises of vanilla powder for the rest of my days, and especially the extrait de parfum. i am a die-hard defender of the original despite some people's complaints of its linearity and nuclear sillage and longevity. the extrait de parfum, weirdly, is less of a powerhouse than the original in a good way. whereas vp can feel like a (delicious) blast in the face, the extrait is more subtle. it's powdery, warm, and comforting, like the original, but deeper, it doesn't project as much.

Truly impressive. Eternal longevity - Fantastic sillage. And one thing that I like is that it doesn’t drive me nose blinded.. which makes me enjoy it even more! Update after two weeks: -I owned the OG but its longevity is incomparable to this one.. it’s literally still in my clothes for 1 week and my whole wardrobe when ever I open it. Also, I think this should considered an addictive substance 😂😂.

I totally agree with @notoriousbogey. I was one of many that found the OG extremely off-putting. My nostrils were assaulted every time I wore it. It was just too rough and musky. BUT the extrait is so much better to me. It's still a strong projector, but the notes are really blended better. Longevity is amazing too and eternal on clothing. Glad to have it back in my collection.

I love this stuff. BEAUTIFUL 🤤. I do think this leans more feminine IMHO. I get coconut, vanilla and powder and a little santo palo to ground it. Moderate longevity, I would say about 7 hours. FB worthy for sure! EDIT: I have come to the conclusion based on my husbands advice that is a metrosexual male cologne LOL. So there you have it. I do not wear this anymore.

A sweet vanilla with a woody note. It’s a very cozy but also formal smell. I got compliments on it and was told it’s kind of manly. I layered it with ‘Musk Invincible’ by Juliette has a Gun. Perhaps the layered musk is the reason for the “manly” smell. I really really like it, but the price scares me.

If you love Vanilla then this is it. It is a very long lasting perfume with amazing sillage if you like loud perfumes then this is it. It is well balanced and you can easily wear it in office as well. It is best for fall and winter and will stay on your clothes and skin for longer period of time.

This smells like my bottle of homemade Madagascar vanilla extract with some powdered sugar. It is the most natural vanilla I have in my collection. Its slightly doughy but not as much as Dan Paris. I am a masculine man and I will gladly rock this perfume from time to time. Its beautiful! 8.5/10

Coconut and vanilla powder spun into floss stuck on a palo santo stick. Very sweet and wears much heavier than the original, gets a touch muskier as it settles. Lasts all day, I used one spray from my sample in the morning and it's still here into the evening. Definitely worthy of trying.

Fell in love with this on the first spray. I'm usually not a gourmand or vanilla fan but this won me over FAST. Elegant but sexy vanilla that develops into a richer and enveloping fragrance. No floral distractions either which is way too common nowadays. Gonna pick up a full bottle

I wanted to love the OG because it’s the perfect vanilla in almost every way... my nose just hates coconut. Oddly enough I found the coconut in this one much smoother. The tonka seems to ground it and add depth. Intoxicating and sweet without being overbearing.

This to my nose is very very similar to the OG. However, it’s more silky, while the OG tended to be a tad screechy. This one is intense in a more well-blended and smooth way. It is absolutely stunning and warm.

if you like to OG Vanilla Powder and wish it was stronger. This extrait is really good and can blind buy if you smell the og vanilla powder edp. I love the coconut nut and vanilla combo. For me its a 10/10.

I really wish I did not love this as much as I do. I have the original but this is smoother, more coconut, less harsh, just as long lasting. I’ll probably sell the original and buy this.

It smells divine, smoother, sweeter and boozy. More of an intimate scent if you compare it the EDP but it’s so sexy. You don’t need both because the dry down is similar.

Best natural vanilla I've smelt in ages.. Absolutely insane quality and such a well blended nuclear fragrance. Can't justify the price though (someone send me one)

I rarely dislike a fancy vanilla fragrance and this is no exception. Powdery, not too sweet, warm and inviting. Would get it if it wasn't 5 million dollars!

This is a beautiful nuclear vanilla. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like this and get so many compliments with it.

Hmmmm, I'm on the fence on this one. I kind of like it. Gives off a powerful dark femme fatale/boss lady vibe: chique, dressed in black cashmere, with thigh high heel boots. But it also has a very heavy wood element (bit masculine). A male would also be able to pull this off with these woods. I don't usually like woody scents (except on males), but I really like Palo Alto (the incensey part). I don't really feel it's a powdery scent, it's a vanilla with woods and depth. Coconut for me is way, way in the background. (Spraying on clothes) On the other hand, the price is another thing. And I don't think it's appropriate for work and only in temperatures where it's going below 0 celcius. One spray on clothes feels almost overpowering allready, so I don't think i'ld be wearing it when I go to a restaurant (it would annoy some people, I can almost 'taste' the scent if that makes any sense). If u like this one, I would suggest you try the way cheaper Burberry Goddess INTENSE. Also warm vanilla, and a bit less woodsy, but still has some. Bit more vanilla.

I wore them side by side (OG on one arm, this on the other) and honestly, both are beautiful 😄 Even though it shares the same DNA with the OG, this version leans much more toward a “yummy vanilla” with tonka. The palo santo is still there, the coconut powder is still there; it carries nearly all the traces of the original but the vanilla has been amplified. It even matches the color of the bottle: dark, sticky, full-bodied, like sniffing a rich black vanilla bean. That coconut-fresh opening from the OG is missing in this one. This one feels rounder, denser, woodier and the palo santo freshness sits further back. This feels more like a winter scent, while the OG shines in spring. Since I already own the OG, I don’t feel the need to buy this one but if I were a vanilla collector, it would definitely be on my list. In terms of longevity, it’s almost identical to the OG; the “extrait” concentration seems to apply only to the vanilla itself. Tag(s): Black yummy vanilla, palo-santo, coconutty, dark, rich

Vanilla Powder Extrait by Matiere Premiere takes everything I liked about the EDP and turns it up a notch. The vanilla feels much thicker and denser, with the creamy coconut powderiness, soft white musk, and palo santo coming through in a richer, more luxurious way. It's definitely more of a winter or evening fragrance compared to the EDP, which is much more versatile and easier to wear all year round. The sillage is huge and leaves some absolutely wonderful scent trails. Longevity is around 7+ hours for me. I honestly expected it to last even longer given it's an Extrait, but the performance is still great and it serves its purpose very well. Overall, I prefer this over the EDP. It's deeper, cozier, and just more satisfying when I want something with a bit more presence. A solid 8/10.

Vanilla Powder Extrait smells like the first time I tried Vanilla Powder EDP. The EDP does not age well and has this sharp synthetic smell that gets worse as the scent ages. Vanilla Powder Extrait is softer, rounder and a little bit more powdery than the EDP - it is overall a better scent as the extrait fortunately does not have the same intensity of the synthetic note (I can still detect it which I don’t like, but not as strong). The Extrait is not as in your face/beast mode as the EDP and has a softer performance, but it is still a strong and very long lasting fragrance. Besides from that, the Extrait and the EDP are very similar and I don’t think you need both in your collection. If you were to pick one, I would go for the Extrait.

The opening is really nice. Very cozy, warm, sweet and sexy. But the dry dwn goes quite musky on me. I do not smell much vanilla after few hours hours, musks are in the from seat. The musk is not unpleasant, but I was looking for more vanilla. It is nice, but overpriced to my opinion.

I scrubbed the OG off immediately. Was way too much. This one I actually like, despite it being an Extrait. It's less feminine and a bit darker. The vanilla smells gourmet. I wouldn't wear it to the office, but I would gladly wear it around the house and for errands.

call me crazy but i love to layer it with cheeky smile. however even one spray of each would probably choke everyone around me.

For me,this is much more wearable than the og. Very similar, but not as smoky and dusty (choky). The notes are more in harmony.

Tried this in store this is PURE vanilla its absolutely gorgeous and deserves to be in my wishlistt,this is so nice.

This smells exactly like Vanille Antique by Byredo to me plus a powder note. Anyone else?

This house as a whole has been such a massive disappointment for me. I had such high hopes but most of the scents are linear and as if only 2 notes are used as one of them dominating throughout and the other supports here and there. Vanilla powder lacks the vanilla sweetness I was expecting, it is soooo bland and boring. The sweetness does find some balance, it does smell like vanilla but just so lack luster. Palo santo seems like wasted here, I get none of it and I LOVE palo santo.. As a whole Matier Premiere is just not working out, I tried falcon leather, encens suave, crystal saffron, parisian musk, radical rose.. The only scent I liked was parisian musk but that is not enough to buy a whole bottle. Definitely avoiding this house for myself and at retail the prices are so damn inflated... but that is another story.

Oh maann im gonna stop ordering decants from these luxury houses along the lines of dior, guelain or matiere premiere, their scents are good but BORING af. i like some edgy stuff like van phy rum or rosendo 5 or followed kerosene

Ok. The musk is too strong for my taste; reminds me of baccarat rogue, which I hate— it’s more subtle than BR though. Coconut note is noticeable and interesting. Leans masculine. Nice overall but not a safe blind buy.

Extremely milky and creamy in the type of vanilla that it is. I've sampled all of the extraits from this house, but it's quite common that projection is lackluster, but longevity is great.

i get a very weird rubbery almost tire smelling in the opening does anyone else get that ? Opening 1/10 Dry down 6/10 Very mysterious though if you are into that.

We can feel vanilla a lot more, but still gives me headache and coconut is present on this fragrance as well as on the edp
