Histoire d'Eau Amethyste

I've just received my bottle of Histoire d'Eau Amethyste and my first impression is... Spring in a bottle! It's a joyful, bright and floral-sweet perfume, ideal for spring and summer days. It's a cold, miserable November day here - it's overcast and has been raining and hailing on and off for the last 24 hours. But Amethyste transported me to a fresh, sunny spring morning. The dew is still on the grass and you just know it's going to be a beautiful day. I haven't tried to analyse the notes yet, because I'm just enjoying the smell at the moment. I can't understand why so many people have indicated they dislike this perfume as - if it doesn't particularly ding your dong - at the very least, it's inoffensive. For me, though: what a delightful surprise! N.B. Amethyste is NOTHING like her naughty sister Histoire d'Eau - loving one is no indication of how you'll feel about the other.

One of the most unique fragrances I've come across. Imagine a sangria with an animalic funk lingering in the base. It's definitely got a vintage vibe but the juicy grape wine note keeps it fresh. It's definitely a challenging fragrance which is likely why many don't like it. I for one am happy to take on that challenge. It's a complex, juicy summer floral freshie with a very, very unique DNA that despite the mandarin notes, doesn't lean citrus. Performance isn't great but this is a cheapie so I didn't expect much in that way to begin with. Definitely going to be a summer staple for as long as I can get my hands on it. Would recommend to women 30+.

I agree with kiselina, it smells like black grapes but would like to add, it smells like black grapes in the art of Daim Blonde from Serge Lutens. Very fresh black grapes-mandarins-oranges mix, clean, radiant, soapy. More day fragrance, perfect for summer. And - it smells like nothing else. It is LOVE.

Airy, non-indolic white florals. Lots of peony and some bittersweet citrus over wood and musk. Reminds me a bit of the original, but simpler without the leather or spice. Mature, elegant, feminine. It's not a statement maker, but it is a very nice and versatile fragrance. It's hardly boring, it's just not going to push anyone's boundaries and sometimes that's best. Would work for both the office or social events, day or evening, any time of the year. I don't get the grape impression, but I don't smell grape in Alien either.

A very intriguing scent, I actually like it even better than the original. The same woody base, but sweeter and with a touch of color purple. Lovely composition, smells much more complex that the notes listed. The sillage is pretty substantial, will write about longevity later.

very nice light white floral with a hint of grapes..Silage is skin after first 15 mins on me, lasted only 2+ hrs also on me..

If you’ve ever been to San Fermín or another European street festival, this will smell familiar. It’s the smell of spilt red wine mixed with hastily applied cleaning products warming in the morning sun mingling with the aromas of unwashed revelers who, having pulled an all-nighter, are walking home for a nap before resuming the festivities. This is a hangover I will not repeat.

Black grapes en masse at the fruiterers, black grapes with the bloom on them at a distance. Black grapes with the woody stem attached at the vineyard. It really is a transportation device to a vineyard. Winery air, piquant creamy cheese, then some soft florals at the dry down. A lovely day time fragrance for those of us who look at raisins and wonder how much wine they could have produced. So bite me!

Sweet white floral and feminine peony, a touch of orange for some freshness. Musk and powdery notes in the dry down although I don't get much in the way of woods. Good daytime scent for the office or casual wear. There is a lot of peony in the heart so if that note is a favorite of yours this one might be a good one to try.

Light and sweet, smells exactly like black grapes. At the end it's powdery and a bit woody. Great for spring.
