Mademoiselle Twist

Every now and then you come across a fragrance that punches well above its price point. As someone who has been collecting and studying perfumes for over a decade, I’ve learned that what makes a fragrance special isn’t just an attractive note pyramid. It’s the harmony between those notes. A perfume can feature beautiful ingredients on paper and still feel rough or unbalanced in practice. Mademoiselle Twist is one of those pleasant surprises. To my nose, it is remarkably close to Dior Poison Girl. The biggest differences are that Mademoiselle Twist remains slightly brighter and more citrus-forward, with a softer almond accord in the drydown. It is also a bit less complex, but considering the price difference, that’s hardly a criticism. The opening is sparkling and citrusy, with a lively effervescence enhanced by the pepper. That subtle spicy kick adds an almost gourmand quality right from the start. As it develops, the blackcurrant, vanilla, and praline become increasingly noticeable, creating a deliciously smooth sweetness without becoming heavy. One aspect I particularly enjoy is its creamy texture. The almond accord never turns bitter or marzipan-like. At times, it even reminds me of a creamy coconut and vanilla accord with nutty nuances, making it feel comforting yet elegant. The bottle is charming. It isn’t particularly luxurious, but it’s tasteful and avoids looking cheap or overdesigned. I see this as a true year-round fragrance. It has enough freshness for warmer weather while still offering the cozy sweetness you crave in cooler temperatures. I’m currently wearing it in 25C weather, where it transforms into a radiant citrus vanilla. If you enjoy Poison Girl but don’t mind sacrificing a little complexity in exchange for excellent value, Mademoiselle Twist is absolutely worth discovering.

Ok...(sniff sniff)..Uh huh...(sniff sniff sniiiiiff)...Not bad but 🤔 ...Meh. 🥱 It's sweet and smells a tiny bit like old milk but not in a terrible way, just milk thinking about turning mixed with a kind of generic🪻floral accord that's sweet-ish. 😐 I'm really not impressed but it might be worth wearing. Maybe I just need to give it another chance as an individual scent all over instead of just my arm. EDIT: It has been over an hour of constant rechecking and huffing my arm and it's starting to get better, by a lot. My perception is no longer of turning milk but of how WARMED MILK smells and the florals blend so much better now. Ok fine 🙄 I like it. 😏 Like a lot! This was a blind buy from Amazon & authentic but it's legit brown. My bottle is clear with maroon/brown fluid. Visually unappealing. The silver decoration around the cap is the quality of a Walmart knock off. At least the lettering stays on. Would it really cost that much to manufacture the grooves a little deeper and the surface more gem-shaped with a facet or two? These 2 simple reasons is why this perfume isn't worth more. Mauboussin seems to be making some serious design shortcuts. 6.5/10 Needs time to mature but fantastic when it does. 8/10 Now that it's matured a little and I love wearing it. 🥰

Just received it and wow! that’s a really nice perfume! Reminds Poison Girl indeed but with more citrus and less almonds. The scent is really lux i mean not cheap at all , and keep in mind I haven’t even yet let it sit! I heard one blogger described it as a summer scent with a twist -that’s exactly it! But I’d add that i think it’s all year round scent, which will show different angles in different weather. Currently testing it in +27 C and it’s really beautifully citrusy vanilla sweet (not too sweet or cloying for me though) I own 7 Mauboussin perfumes and i must admit I really love this house! All the fragrances are of a high quality and i like all of them, and some are soo good even addictive! The quality is like lux perfumes , but the price...just makes me happy :) To sum up I’m very glad I did blind bought Mademoiselle twist despite of negative reviews (which i personally disagree now when I’m owning the frag) ! I don’t think it’s very original nowadays (the same goes to all of the scents from this scent family as their hit time was about 5 years ago i guess) but it’s still a very pleasant and attractive scent.

I just purchased this perfume, and honestly I'm impressed with it. Despite being of economic price, it smells and behaves like a fragrance of more expensive cost. To describe it in short, it has a sweet warmth that is very comforting. It is powdery as well. The more it dries down, the more it smells like Dior's Feve Deliciouse-- an amazing perfume in its own right. This one, for what it is, is amazing in how good it smells, how much it lasts and how well it mixes with my skin, at least. I highly recommend it. Like I said, on me, it resembles Feve Deliciouse, this doesn't mean it will, in fact, smell the same on everyone. Skin PH plays a big role here in addition to so many other factors that make fragrances smell differently on each individual person.

I absolutely LOVE this perfume! Its a beautiful alternative to Poison Girl. Let it sit for a couple weeks and you will be mind blown how good this is. Praline and vanilla is very proheminent in this perfume. I am from Romania btw and grew up in those times and I can confirm that no, it doesn't smell like an earlier reviewer suggested lol People leave some interesting reviews here.

Wonderful. Among all the gourmands out there, this is the best, in my opinion. The praline here is soft, kind of milky and slightly nutty.

This was a blind buy which I don't regret. Mademoiselle Twist is a gourmand scent with really a "twist". At first, it is a sweet, gourmand, quite youngish scent. I sensed a strong praliné at the opening but the more the perfume dries down, the more pepper and vanilla are getting stronger, while cassis gives to it a special hint. Despite being a top note, cassis is there, definitely. This perfume is not a masterpiece, there is no "wow" effect and it's not unique. But it is a pleasant smell and for sure noticeable. To me, it is office friendly if used with moderation. Suitable both for day and night. Can be a great "rendez-vous" scent. Good quality for its price. But as always: it all comes down to one's chemistry. The pepper is the key note here, I believe. If pepper works well on someone, this can be an interesting piece in a collection or for everyday use. But if pepper does not work, it can be perceived as an awful scent (especially with the praliné and vanilla combination).

At first I smelled rice, with a sweet layer?!? Not too sweet: nice sweet. When I smell it I think of food. Asian food with some sweetness to it. Funny, as someone below wrote it reminds her of Paris. Conclusion: not bad, I like it. Update: The rice scent lingers and next to it I now get the resemblance to Poison Girl.

I was intrigued by this spinner bottle,i have bought it for a song.What i can say is that is a nice scent,as usual in women creations of the present time,without the boring pear that ap-pears- everywhere!Not so strong,not too grown,but a nice,average scent,very well blended and natural smelling.

The initial spray is a bit jarring, but stay with it. It calms to a warm, sweet, vanilla. It is slightly more than a skin scent. I enjoy wearing it. Spray liberally.

Mandarin orange in the top is very very synthetic, bathroom freshener like... after 10 minutes it disappears thank God! What you can get: some warm flower, a little pepper and lots of baby powder. Boring and pretty linear. On my skin there is no praline or chocolate at all.

I bought this because of the so many good reviews and because I was sure it won’t smell at all like Poison Girl that I dislike. So the comments, for my nose are totally the opposite compared with what I smell. No way of pepper or mandarine. It’s from the beginning a chocolate smell very intimate to the skin with poor resistance. I don’t see this wearable in the summer because of the sweetness. This smells like Love Potion from Oriflame, flat scent, no way like Poison Girl which has a prominent spiciness and is more icy and sharp. I don’t dislike this and for the money is worth it, but the comments are a little exaggerated.

I have blind bought this perfume based on the positive reviews from this forum. But it is a scrubber, sorry, it's a weird and unpleasant smell, though on the paper the notes looked interesting. The top notes are fighting against each other, there is not a smooth harmony, it's dissonant. The dry-down is neither vanilla nor musk, it's a faint, plastic-y and unsweet praline. No, no and no. Save your money for a better quality perfume.

I don't get why people say this is similar to Poison Girl. To my nose it smelled like something that was designed in the 1990s and just got stale and dusty. I was suprised it came out in 2019. Big no for me. I sent it back to Notino. I'll stay with my beloved OG Poison Girl.

THis is a very affordable, hidden gem, and rather unique even in its own genre. The opening is rather citrusy, what I smell is closer IMO to a lemon(ade) note than to mandarin orange but it has a zesty, slightly bitter quality that is amped up by the pepper creating a spicy and almost gourmand quality to the scent. Green cassis, warm vanilla, sweet praline are clearly detectable, too, as the scent develops. The spicy quality of the warm vanilla reminds me on Olympea with a nice amount of citrus notes, nutty undertones and without salty and aquatic accords. It is kind of creamy, too, and the nutty accord is quite abstract, it could be coconut, which, together with the vanilla and jasmine and the freshness of the citruses add up to a fragrance that has a tropical, beachy vibe to it in my imagination... I imagine that this fragrance would beautifully layer with Olympea, however, it is truly beautiful on its own. The bottle is just pretty, somehow not really expensive looking (however, it is not trashy either), but the juice doesn't smell cheap at all. HIghly recommend for such a bargain.

I really can't believe why nobody, literally nobody is talking about this hidden gem! It is a hidden, affordable treasure, beauty beast and seductive gourmand, filled with deliciousness! This was a blind buy for me, I was extremely excited and now I regret nothing, because it goes to the first rows of my favourite perfumes of all time, his affordable price even beats everything. The perfume takes me to Paris on a beautiful, slightly chilly walk down the narrow streets, looking at the windows of the stores and enjoying French music by a street musician. I can feel the praline really intense, even the dry-down for me is very a delicious praline, mixed with vanilla and I can feel even the jasmine....Gosh, it's sooo sophisticated and beautiful. It has a slight reminiscence of La Vie est Belle and some versions of Tresor (to my opinion), but to me, this is more exquisitely made! I'm more than happy I bought this. And the bottle - just look at it, look at this creativity and original twist. If you love gourmand scents - get it!

Let's not arbitrarily claim a perfume isn't worth more than $30 based on the note combination, alone, & reserve that for performance quality issues. As someone who is obsessed individually with every single note that is used in Poison Girl, the fact that they combined them all in a bottle, I would have paid more, & this perfume being a cheap alternative doesn't automatically make me think it's worth purchasing, because, as others have stated, they are not the same, & I'm willing to pay "too much" to fit exactly my picky preferences.

I sampled poison girl in the store recently and I’ve had mademoiselle twist for a few weeks. I can tell you there’s maybe a 50% similarity but they are not the same. And i can tell you poison girl is not worth the money. Mademoiselle is not worth more than the $30 or so i spent on it but I’ll tell you. If i had to choose one or the other for the same $30. Id rather choose mademoiselle twist. It’s sweeter, stronger and more complex. Albeit medicinal nonetheless so i don’t actually like it. Been using it as bathroom air freshener
