Mauboussin à la Folie

oh WOOOW, now THIS is a fragrance that would drive any man absolutely WILD! I smell like a mouthwatering raspberry caramel cookie. Mauboussin à la Folie is seriously a 'love-at-first-sniff' perfume for me. And I usually need time and experimenting to love fragrances! The opening is just gorgeous: a sparkling prosecco followed closely by fresh raspberries. Nothing synthetic, sickly sweet or heavy alcohol about it! Just chilled delicious Italian white wine... The raspberry note is done so well, which I have to say is difficult to find in any brand since it can easily turn synthetic/juvenile on its own. The dry-down Uhghhhhhghghh the dry-down. The rose-petals are soft, complimentary and ever-so-slightly powdery...but the real star player is the caramel. It's blended so beautifully with the sparkling raspberry and soft petals without being cloying. Ultimately turning into a delectable cookie-dessert Performance is ordinary. When you spray the raspberry prosecco fills the whole room & becomes arms length as time goes on. I'm seriously impressed...thus this will be one of my signature scents. She's elegant, she's irresistible, she's poised. So perfect for cool summer nights, spring...all seasons actually! High quality perfume, deserving of all the rave. EDIT: Live Irrésistible Délicieuse Givenchy smells 85% similar to this! Except this one is more sparkling.

2010’s Trashy Mcbling party girl. One of the most obvious perfume choice, in my opinion, if you want to smell like house parties, neon green and hot pink, animal prints, and Juicy Couture bedazzled tracksuits. My mom used to wear it and it smelt good on her, but on me it gave me so many headaches, and I felt like the caramel was to synthetic and overbearing. But the scent changed, so did my mind and impressions for this perfume. It’s a really sweet and loud perfume, it is sparkling with this Champagne note that feels like you are having lots of fun during a party! Then there’s this THICK sweetness that truly is yummy, with that sticky Caramel, bright and fruity Raspberry. And the Rose note is trying its very best to create a fresh aspect to the fragrance. Overall, the sweet notes are smelling good but can be felt as cheap, too synthetic. And I get it, but for the price it’s logical. I feel like this is the kind of perfume that you can’t enjoy if you don’t like gourmand perfumes. It makes me feel like a star in the 2000’s, it truly matches the vibe of Kesha songs, for example : Tik Tok, We R who we R, Blah Blah Blah. This perfume smells like the color Hot Pink, and animal prints. It’s strong and has a nice sillage, perfect for day and night but MADE for the night ! 9/10, I absolutely love it !

This was a lovely surprise to test and could become another favorite for all-day/all-night wear. It really is like wearing the spirit of joy, or what I would deem a potion concocted with all the ingredients that make up joy: sweet fruit, warm caramel, a slight chocolate-y rose so rich and drenched in what sizzled in my nose like sparkling Italian grape soda. When I looked up the actual notes (before I review a perfume, I always try to guess what they are upon first sniff) and found that it was supposed to contain the bubbly effervescence of champagne (always the congratulatory toast of happiness and luck) it wasn't a surprise, yet to me it was a very dark grape bubbly -- perhaps because of the raspberry! I would recommend this for anyone young, and anyone who wants to feel young again. Aptly named, and great fun to wear. I have nothing negative to say about this. It transforms me into a giggling schoolgirl, or to my college days when going out to the bars after class to drink my favorite fruity cocktail was the s***!

Absolutely delightful and mischievous, A La Folie sparkles, flirts and giggles knowingly to an appreciative audience. This is bubbles and fun, a frivolous dessert of a fragrance, light and airy yet with a caramelly substance to it to help ground it before it jitters off again, escaping into a sun-dappled sky. Oh, so carefree and full of joie de vivre! Oh, such fun! Once again, the word delightful, because this is what it is - raspberries, champagne and caramel with whispers of a rose. A La Folie does, indeed, share a slight relationship with the beautiful and now sadly discontinued Parfait des Roses by Lancome - they are distant cousins, perhaps, both joyfully suppressing mirth at what they see as folly. Not the same at all, but with a similar idea. Both wonderful. Highly recommended.

This is such a cozy perfume! It only contains 4 notes, but is's definitely not linear and not boring! Opens with fizzy champagne & juicy, sweet, fresh raspberry. As it dries down the scent slowly starts to change... Champagne disappears as soon as the bubbles have died out and then makes way for rose to shine through. The rose here is very subtle and has a balmy feel to it, probably because the caramel is already working it's way to the surface. It takes some time, but eventually I was left with this very delicious gourmand trace of buttery caramel on my skin of which I kept getting whiffs throughout the day and well over 8 hours. Soft, but definitely there! This makes people want to come a little closer to you, to smell this deliciousness... An absolute love for me! ♥♥♥♥♥

I really like this fragrance. It gives are all pink and rosy vibes when wearing it. Opening notes are boozy champagne while the heart is full of the sweetness of rose and raspberry. The dry down is even sweeter with the caramel. There is a kind of linearity and simplicity that gets deep as it approaches dry down. To this, floral fragrance, raspberry and champagne tends to add the gourmand kick making it more lovely. I must say this is one easy-to-wear perfume-making me feel content, confident, and happy. Superb one for the summer and spring season for the bright, sunny days. Lovely, cozy and boozy piece! Mesmerizing!

Bought this in 2024, really liked it then, and am revisiting it now. It reminds me of a party girl turned into a fashionable, but cheap cigarette mom. I guess that has its time and place, if you are feeling kind of trashy in a nostalgic way, this isn't bad. I like it, its sort of powdery to me when it dries down, which may be me picking up on the aldehydic note. Also lasts a long time for me without having a ton of sillage

It was a bit overwhelmingly "lolly" at first. Not unpleasant but just sweet and strong. It has mellowed out deliciously, I do like a sweet yummy floral. It's creamy sweet, not powdery, which I like a lot. It's smooth like a bath full of velvety petals. The caramel makes it a little warmer. Breathing it in is like some sort of comfort food. On the Wishlist.

The ultimate sweet scent that doesn't make your head dizzy. Wow, the scent is different from other sweet scents. It's bright and fun, like playing in a garden with French wild strawberry scent. The taste is very similar. I was surprised by this scent, it smells so good, the smell hasn't changed at all after 2 hours, I love it so much

A charming, feminine fragrance. Juicy raspberry meets smooth, sweet caramel and vanilla. It cocoons you, lifts the mood, and brings an instant smile. It does require reapplication due to its moderate sillage, yet it has a lovely way of resurfacing unexpectedly throughout the day.

Bought this for my 6year old daughter and to further explore mauboussin fragrances. Absolutely lovely scent. Perfect for a girly night in or spring night out. The raspberry absolutely pops and the scent is well blended.

The perfume that gets me the most compliments. People love this juice. Its sweet but not cloying, feminine, flirty and fun.

Light sweet fruity rose... I have to put my nose to my skin to notice it, but I love smelling it. Powdery in the dry down.

You're outside in a pink floral dress with flushed cheeks and tousled hair, roses are blooming all around you and you're drinking sparkling champagne and eating raspberry and caramel truffles on a mild Spring afternoon. I have to admit, the cheap price and glowing reviews made me blind buy this one, and so far, I don't regret it. The opening spray is soft, luscious raspberry, followed by champagne roses with a hint of warm caramel. It sounds simple and linear, but somehow it just feels so effortless to wear this. I don't usually like Rose in a perfume, but this one is soft and quite muted. It's floral, but the champagne and raspberry add a gourmand kick. A la Folie is a bright, pretty and easy to wear perfume, and I feel very happy and content while wearing it. It almost makes me want to frolic around a field in a lacy kimono. Almost. I will say I don't like the bottle and cap much. I find it quite clunky and the lid is difficult to remove for me (I have acrylic nails!) so it lost a few marks there, but overall the scent makes up for it. A perfect, feminine Spring/Summer scent for bright days and balmy evenings. Just lovely.

You can be brilliant even without over-complicated compositions, endless lists of undiscernible notes, and huge budgets. This fragrance is genial in its simplicity. A mix of three ingredients, three good ones. Fizzy raspberry champagne (and with that I mean the real thing: d.o.p champagne with the addition of true fresh fruits pureed, no chemical syrups or nasty flavorings) that's 50% bitter, 50% sweet and 100% sparkling, drank on a downtown terrace at sunset hour. A glass of springtime bliss. A slight caramel drydown shows up from time to time, just to make the whole thing more interesting. More a warm, creamy sandalwood-leaning caramel than a candy-like one. The composition is joyful and balanced. A gourmand for connoisseurs, unfortunately cursed with a cheesy name and a slightly tacky pyramid bottle.

Good grief, it's been a while since I've done a review. I had the original Mauboussin years ago, used it up, and tried other things. This one was a blind buy and a good one at that! The opening is fizzy raspberry champagne. As it's drying, I start to get a little bit of rose, but not much as I get more caramel than anything. I went out shopping and kept getting whiffs of this. At first, I thought it was someone else, but nope, it was me in my caramel bubble! This is fun, flirty, and carefree; I will say it smells great on a summer day. The heat brings out the champagne and caramel notes but it's never too sweet. Longevity is moderate with moderate sillage. Overall, a nice blind buy!

That one is quite pleasant actually, I’m surprised with a rating. This is an easy feminine scent, for younger women. The raspberry doesn’t give it ,,Escada’’ vibe :) This scent can be worn daily or to some occasions, as it’s quite classy despite having strawberry in it. I think it also can be worn to office if not oversprayed. Think of Burberry Her Elixir - that one is from the same family, but A La Folie doesn’t have this ambroxan ,,baccarat’’ note this is the difference. For the price you can’t go wrong if you like raspberry in your scents (and Burberry Her Elixir) You can buy a la folie in travel size 20ml to test it, which is very comfy.

Lovely. Truly a lovely scent. Simple, but doesn't smell generic or average at all. It has a special spark. I get mostly the raspberries and champagne and they're very vibrant. I'd say must love raspberries to enjoy this. I don't exactly get caramel, but sweetness for sure. This is one that may smell a little weird if you put your nose directly to your skin, but from a few inches, it works. I agree very much with the previous review. I like this, but it doesn't feel right on me. It seems flirtatious, carefree and very feminine.

This is one of the cheapest and simplest scents I own and yet it garners many compliments. It's crowd pleasing and girly and I really don't understand the amount of compliments I get when I wear it especially from men. I love the combination of raspberry, champagne and caramel. Very reminiscent of La Vie Est Belle though.... so if you don't like LVEB don't get it.

It's sparkling, sweet, young and light hearted. A friendly fragrance for the young or young at heart. It's sweet, definitely not a serious scent, but who ever said perfume had to be serious to be good? It's like a frilly pink dress you bought to wear in spring time. Not even remotely somber or serious, but fun and easy and ultra cheerful.
