Mauboussin Homme

Anyone blind buying this should be aware the EDP has been recently reformulated. I got one of these from FragranceX. The new version comes in a box without the violet band around the bottom as pictured above. Rather, it is a solid brown colour with 2 thin stripes up the sides, along with the new "X"/bird logo. After I placed my order there was a comment/review added to the FragranceX website that complained it was a "chemical mess", not like before and the buyer was demanding a refund. This comment only lasted a few days so I am not sure if it was "voted off" like comments can be done here or FragranceX deleted it. Anyway, I was forewarned. Sure enough, when I got it I agreed. There is an initial smell of chemicals which hangs around for hours. No doubt, there is more going on than that but I am unable to make an objective review because I can't get past the chemicals. This reformulation is so different to the original and so bad it makes me wonder why Mauboussin would want to trash their brand so much. They are supposedly a high-end jeweler. It would be like them using cut glass instead of gem stones. This new EDP version is selling cheaply online which is driving down the price of the original formulations so if you can find them, get them before they disappear. I have stocked up with 3 EDP and 4 EDT. I asked fragrancenet which version they are selling and after 3 inquiries all they would tell me is they cannot guarantee which version you get. As far as I have been able to tell, the EDT has not been reformulated so that will always be the original. All versions of this perfume have now been removed from the official website so I guess it is now officially discontinued. The cynic in me thinks that Mauboussin had a large inventory of empty bottle they wanted to get rid of economically so they filled them up with anything cheap.

Mine is a newly purchased EDP bottle and the juice has turned blue-grey by the time I open the box. On my skin, the fragrance opens fresh and a little zesty, but also in a way that I experience as white and creamy smooth. The patchouli quickly becomes dominant, with its smooth or rounded minty clay or Play-Doh smell. There is a considerable herbal, aromatic aspect to the fragrance but I think that the earthy side of the patchouli probably anchors that and prevents it from becoming too jaggedly, bitterly green. There is something about the overall effect that reminds me of Champagne without smelling like it. Perhaps the slight powderiness is masquerading as effervescence, but apparently some people say that patchouli can smell "fizzy"... Perhaps there is also a parallel to vintage Brut, which was inspired by Champagne. Both fragrances have a kind of aromatic semi-woody greenness for me, as well as the powder. The Mauboussin doesn't smell old fashioned to me like Brut, though--old-skool maybe, but not outdated. It doesn't do powerhouse animalic skank. Performance is above today's average though, and in my case the combination of that and the undeniable patchouli aura means that I may not get a whole lot of use out of this without layering. Instead I'm inclined to use it the same way that I use another patchouli-forward fragrance, Zino by Davidoff, i.e. in cooler weather only, probably more in the evening than in the daytime, and not in entirely casual situations unless I want to stick out like a scrubbed-up hippie's sore thumb. Edit: I've been reaching for Zino lately but not for this. Zino makes this seem a little blunt or something. To be fair, Zino might do that to a whole host of fragrances.

I've been wondering about Mauboussin Homme for years & when i finally took the plunge to satisfy my curiosity & anticipation. Finally the time has come when my order arrived & i was in so much awe & deep regret that i wished i could've done this so much sooner when i first discovered it. This is completely the opposite of what i was afraid it would turn out to be...a dated, uber masculine, pungent & overpowering men's cologne. What a revelation! I never thought it could be so good...how did i get it so wrong? It is a well-balanced & constructed blend of spice, herbal, floral & woody notes. It is subtle yet complex with just the right & sufficient ratio of ingredients. It isn't dominated by just one or two notes, every component comes into play. This is another triumph from the master perfumer Alberto Morillas who is famous for creating some of the world's most popular & unforgettable fragrances of this modern era. I should've trusted my gut feelings & just blind bought this years ago, it would automatically have become one of my all time favorites & it definitely is now. This very underrated, borderline unisex gem is becoming a timeless modern oriental woody classic. Basic but pure essential sophistication in the most stunning, beautifully designed bottle i've ever seen, held & possessed. Longevity is from 6 to 8 hours on my skin with moderate performance & sillage which is acceptable. Quite simply a pure joy to wear...it feels almost like floating in a soft cloud of soothing pleasure, freshness, earthiness, comfort & warmth. A unique masterpiece that belongs in the museum of contemporary art.

EDP For starters, the shape of the bottle and the design of having to twist the top to spray it has certainly intrigued me. When I first sprayed it on my skin, I get a herbal blast of sage and rosemary followed by a high note of lavender giving it a real aromatic aroma. After 15-30 minutes later, the herbal notes slightly soften followed with a warm/sweet aroma of musk/patchouli and vanilla which comes shining through making it ABSOLUTELY STUPENDOUS to wear during the fall/winter months especially during the evening making it very luxurious. Longevity and Silage are very high quality lasting well past 10hrs hours on my skin spraying it once only. Overall opinion, This was practically a blind purchase because the boutique where I shop a lot didn't have a tester bottle so I had to base my decision on other's reviews. I want to thank almost everyone's sincere opinion on this TRULY AMAZING FRAGRANCE!!!! Rating this fragrance is no different than those who have already rated this fragrance. Personally less then a 10/10 would be so unfair to this GEM. This fragrance isn't just great....it's nectar from the God's making it ABSOLUTELY STUPENDOUS!! If you are curious and your not sure...take my word the review below are accurate, you won't regret buying it. :))))))))

I’ve struggled to review this one - it’s just hard to describe. In short it’s a sweet and slightly soapy oriental. But it’s complex, a lot of notes coming together in a unique impression/accord. The look of the light purple juice in the old-fashioned statuesque bottle may be a better description of the fragrance than words can do. Part of the struggle is that old-school complex masculines haven’t persisted on store shelves as well as their female counterparts. At least where I live, I can smell old-school women’s Diors, Givenchys etc at perfume counters, but for old-school masculines I have to blind buy from discounters even to try them. So it’s hard for me to put this in context - designers aren’t doing anything like this for men with their repetitive focus on specific aromachemicals, and niche/indie houses probably lack the experience, resources and market demand to go in this masculine-baroque direction. Mauboussin are in a somewhat unique position, not quite fitting in with the big designers or current niche houses, but having a deep library of older classic scents which they seem to keep in good condition in their current formulations. If you can afford the risk on a blind-bought cheapie, this is really worth a try.

i happened to me the same as to skitten... i ordered a bottle by thinking it was a big bottle of the womans fume which i love so mutch. by getting the parcel and open it, i was so disapointed to see it's for men. then my husband try it out and it's a truly fantastic mens-smell! he was impressed too and he loves to wear it especially for nights out. verrrry sexy ! love the cinnamon-vanilla compo and that hint of medicine-smell. settles down warm and cosy, vry nice sillage. it's even quite unisex in my opinion but i still prefere that one for women for me. the woman who's looking for an androginity scent, this it is. smells very elegant and luxury as the fantastic beautiful bottle lookes like. (our bottle looks like this one but it is in a silver contaier which 'wraps' and holds the bottle and you don't have to take it out to spray.) guess this is a special edition i catched when bought. it looks just stunning. can't find pictures on the net of it unfortunately. a few drops are going far, i can still smell it on my hubby in the evening when he comes home from a working day. love it!

So I just received my sample vial (EDP), and I must say that I'm starting to enjoy this fragrance. Initially, I tried the fragrance on paper and all I got was a very strong spicy scent... reminiscent of an ashtray. I was even more depressed when my wife expressed disdain towards the smell. Thankfully, I tried on my skin and it's really growing on me (wife still doesn't approve). From the first dab, I guess it's the lavender and spices that give it that medicinal smell. The transition from the top to mid remind me so much of Mesmerize by Avon, and I hear that one is similar to Zino. The mid introduces the sage and patchouli which transitions this to a smooth spicy/floral - now it resembles Gucci Envy. The base sweetens the fragrance and that soapy sandalwood and vanilla combo starts to shine, while retaining some spice from the mid. I consider the base a spicier Boucheron Jaipur with that soapy vanilla lingering. This is extremely elegant and embodies a dark, mysterious scent. It's a great find for any age group needing a very well made oriental that you can dress up.

First, this has to be the most ergonomically design bottle. Not only it looks great, but the flip sprayer is genious and.....the darn thing fits perfectly in one hand for spraying. It practically becomes an extension of your hand!!!. The scent itself, it's simply perfect. It starts very very aromatic, projecting like it wants to choke you. Herbal lavender with mint!!. At this stage, is similar to TL pour Lui, but TL moves into the gourmand territory, while this one, becomes a lavender, cinamonn and vanilla scent...but very well done. It smells sophisticated, expensive. Lasts for ever, projects great and it is totally unisex. Has a little bit of a barbershop smell, but just a bit. Bought M Generation because of this one......and that one, is for trained noses only, I guess for niche guys. But that is another review for another day.

I made a mistake, and ordered 2 bottles, thinking it was the female Mauboussin EDP,as no picture of the bottle was available at the time...........When it arrived I nearly cried......Pour Homme, EDP it said........ woas me!! But in my obssesive perfume curiosity, I opened one... sprayed it on my arm.....and as Kismet would have it, I actually find this very evocactive and sensual. It settles down into a really delicious, warm, kinda sweet, lemony meriangue, desirable and yummy sensation. A bit like Ivy, Marc Jacobs and way better, as it is EDP and the scent lasts forever, if you like that creation. Most mens fumes taint my tastebuds, and I feel like they disturb my sense of taste. Mauboussin Pour Homme I highly recommend to anyone wanting a quality mens fragrance. I do love Mauboussin fragrances. A mans one I will wear...xx

New bottle. A very nice and interesting perfume. Very well put together and has a very intriguing and evolving composition. It is in the Jaïpur/Visit camp so if you like those this will be easy to put into rotation. It is not in any way a substitute for Casual Friday. I wore CF as a signature scent for years way back. I went through 3-4 bottles. It does feel inspired by CF but if your looking for a capable replacement by using this you will be disappointed. All in all a very different and beautiful scent that is very worth the money even though it does not last very long or project far. Very safe blind buy at the price due to it being unique and well made. Nice bottle also.

The scent is accurately described by others below. It's very sweet, herbal, powdery, spicy and delicious. Always well-priced too. I first bought this online for my partner in 2017, and we received the twist cap bottle. I have just replaced it with another bottle which has the pull off cap. Without any doubt, this newer version lacks the density, power and longevity that the original had. At the end of the day I can no longer smell this fragrance on my man. Whereas the previous bottle's scent would still engulf me with fumes (nice ones) at 6pm at night. The pull off cap bottle is definitely watered down and I won't be buying another. What a huge shame.

This is one of my very favorite fragrances (the EDP). Someone once mentioned that it is a 'transparent' fragrance, and I would have to agree. It has a certain elegance which I have not found elsewhere. It is delicate, yet unmistakably masculine. Mauboussin Homme is a very formal fragrance, which I would wear with a tuxedo in a very formal setting. I consider it be the most formal, elegant fragrance that I own. If anyone out there is looking for a really 'lady killer' fragrance, this is the one which I would most enthusiastically recommend. It is absolutely "GORGEOUS"!!! You cannot overspray this one.

A beautiful oriental/floral scent. I have the EDP and it is a luxurious long lasting fragrance with good silage. A little reminiscent of Sung Homme but only a little. As already stated, it does have a medicinal note in there (I think from the cinnamon) but it is a pleasant one. The overall impression is that this is a sweet, floral, soapy, fresh, patchouli scent with some vanilla and woods which is really lovely and well formulated. Good job too, because I bought this blind. Mauboussin Homme is a lovely perfume and definitely in my top ten.

if you like gems like Azzaro visit and Jaipur By Boucheron, this is a must have. there is nothing like this in the market. great potency and projection, as well as smell. its unique. the cinnamon gives it a bit spicy masculine feel, lavender is therapeutic and vanilla patchouli combo gives its a rich base. this is one fragrance no one would be wearing. its a 10/10 fragrance for me. hidden gem. juice color changes from purple to greenish blue, its normal.

Pure class.Beautiful fragrance,great performance,very easy to detect the notes in it.I own both versions (twist cap and the latest one) and can not state what was stated before that one is weaker or smells differently to the other,both smell and perform the same.In two words pure class.Fragrance for a real man,gentleman even.For the price it is a steal.Soon i want to try other Mauboussin fragrances as i am really impressed.This is how a man should smell.

I love this scent profile. Comparable to the likes of Boucheron Jaipur Homme, Bogart pour Homme, Lapidus TL pour Lui, Pour un Homme de Caron and Lalique pour Homme Lion. All are quite different from each other, but share DNA, like distant cousins. Has a very classy masculinity, quite enjoyable to my taste. Aromatic Fougere/Oriental Fusion. Lavender, Vanilla/Tonka, Woods, and Citrus combine to create a fusion between aromatic freshness and oriental warmth

Trip down memory lane. Bought it in 2003 and loved it back then. Remember how the sales woman explained to me that the shape of the bottle was inspired by the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai. Just picked this up again as it was really cheap and I still like it. Will wear this occasionally. I would describe it as a soft lavender, musky, slight powdery scent. Not particularly a head turner, but I think a lot of people will appreciate this scent profile.

Recommend this. Great bottle. And it is in the cheapie realm. Wow. Something different and a male floral. Maybe the Perfume Guy recommended it in one his videos? Just a perfect bottle. Love it. Juice is blue and kinda reminds me of an aquatic. I feel it is good all year round and could be used in any situation. Calming and just all around great!

I just got another bottle. I love this, a floral spicy pleasant smell. It's an EDP but its strength is an EDT. This new bottle has a pull-off cap (the original had a twister cap). Oh, You might find that the colour of the juice changes, well, that does not affect the smell or performance. A very nice perfume.

At first very similar to gilles cantuel arsenal Blue, but just need to wait a while and it transforms into something different and good. Masculine, not strong and that with me lasts all day. By the, no chance it smells like boucheron jaipur, i have it and they are different.

This is just an instant classic to me and I'm considering ordering more in case it's discontinued lol. It's aiming for the mature audience no question about that. Will also say that it's a barbershop kind of scent, which I like. Really good for a cheapie.

Highly recommend! I have bought it for 14€. Masculine, warm and aromatic. The prominent note to my nose is the lavender. Considering its age, it is nice to see it has still something to say and it can still be an everyday scent to wear for any occasion.

This is an excellent fougere that takes the best of the fougeres from the 80s and ditches the dirty animal notes and replaces it with vanilla if you like the barbershop type scents this is a safe blind buy and worth every penny.

Fabulous fragrance ! Great assembly of lavander, cinnamon and ... rosemary ! Brilliant, it really touches senses, unlike any "aqua di ..." and other expensive stuff ! Great for evening and nights, formal or informal.

This is my signature scent. It was also the first cheapie I bought get ng into fragrances. Still stands strong to this day. If you layer this with Lempicka Homme you can get real close to Escada Casual Friday.

I'm 40 years too young to wear this. And I am 60 yrs old... It's like Morillas tried to become an Archaeologist Parfumeur... Mummy SWEAT & CAVEMEN LAVANDER Longevity is great, projects nicely.

Great composition! Striking, but elegant. Lots of vanilla, cinnamon and lavender, opening reminds us of Azzaro Visit, the measure evolve, brings to mind TL Pour Lui

Really lovely lavender, cinnamon, floral and vanilla juice. Longevity and silage are good. Mine changed color from purple to a blue but the smell stayed the same.

I love this stuff. Great on its own or to combine with other fragrances to give more impact. It can turn a unisex fragrance into a masculine one.

I bought this one due to positiv reviews in here and I don't regret it.It is a masculine mature juice and of course Mourillas.I love it.

Incredible very similar Escada Casual Friday

I'm reviewing the EDT version. An oddity in the oriental fougere category, Mauboussin is a combination of 1970's green, earthy Geoffrey Beene Bowling Green meets the patchouli, rosemary and oakmossy dry down of Bijan Men but all done with a refined subtlety and command of an Alberto Morillas like talent and attention to detail. Extremely original and unique if you happen to get an unblemished, non reformulated bottle. The patchouli here is beautifully balanced with the vanilla, cinnamon and lavender and in today's market would be presumed to be of niche quality. The EDT is subtle, 2-3 sprays are most suitable and the classical elements here invoke a timelessness; merging the 1970's love for earthy and green with a modern sense of minimalism; that was frowned upon in the 1980's but has become the essence of most designer releases since the mid 2000's. If you love subtle spices and extremely green patchouli and garden herbs without the tobacco note so common in most releases with the same ingredients, this one is for you. That being said, this isn't for everyone. It's a more mature scent for men who have worn the classic 1960s and 1970s releases for a significant time in their life and are looking for a more subtle, less intrusive work-place fragrance that invokes many of those memories but does so in a more balanced and less overloaded note layout. The opening is mostly lavender and rosemary in a way that suggests the presence of oakmoss. After about ten minutes the cinnamon comes into the balance but never dominates, balanced by the patchouli and lavender, emanating a green and herbal essence. After an hour to and hour and a half this dries down into a soft organic vanilla, sandalwood, light cinnamon and patchouli accord that is subtle but well done. Longevity for the EDT is 6-10 hours on average, with mild weather around 3-10 C or 40-55 F most effective for this one. Sillage is subtle enough for the work-place but prominent if you spray more than 4-5 sprays. Scent: 8.25/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 6.75/10 Creativity: 8.5/10 Value: 8.75/10

This is a scent with a real 'architecture' to it; you can feel the component parts triangulating against each other. It's not a 'blend' or an 'accord'. It's a real "perfumista's perfume." I bought it because it was Morillas, it cost £11 and I like patchouli. It opens with something herbal - like rosemary or juniper, something with those thin leaves on woody stems. Clearly those plants belong in a family with equally twiggy, thin-leaved lavender, and that's in here. It's somewhat austere and precise at this point. Throughout, the scent is herbal, but never would you call it a green scent. More, it is cool and steely. The guy above me (unless he's voted to oblivion) thinks this scent leans citrus. Simply wrong. He's also written 49 fragrance reviews in one single day. Make of that what you will... Woomanmoomin below (a reviewer I enjoy reading) thinks of PlayDough, and I get that. I never really get the Zino-esque patchouli vibes others have found. I can detect that patchouli is one of the triangulation points - it's there. But way, way back. I find Zino a warmer, fuller, more expansive scent, with a greater range of dimensions. Zino is a complicated fug; Mauboussin is a set of scalpels. That sort-of medicinal "spice oil" aspect from Jaïpur is here, although the scents do not in any way resemble one another. In the dry down, it continues to be something herbal. It doesn't feel soapy, but it feels clean and astringent. It feels 'virtuous' and 'good for you,' like a pretentious German/Swiss cough sweet. In terms of value for money - excellent, because this much thought for £11 is amazing. In terms of creativity, difference, uniqueness - remarkable, especially at this price. It feels like a scent with a purpose, and I can see why it's a perfume lovers' perfume. It's so learnèd and clear. But...there are lots of brilliant perfumes that I'm not wowed by. And yet I keep coming back to it. I don't know if I like it. I definitely don't DISlike it, and it was dirt cheap. And it's Morillas, FFS...

Mauboussin is not a prestigious house, fragrance wise. But this Alberto Morillas creation, in the early 2000's is an exception of a good woody spicy scent. Morillas, at that point, was already a all-star perfumer. Xeryus, Tommy Cologne, CKOne, ADG, Pi, 212, M7.... the list was extensive. This, albeit not as good as the previous ones mentioned, is a really decent, creative and good value fragrance. It's almost a fougère, due to the lavender and sage combo, but, it goes to a more woody and spicy territory with lots of cinnamon and a play-doh aftertaste. That weird powdery/dough accord is made, somehow, with sage, cinnamon and patchouli. The result is a very interesting take on a woody-spicy, with slightly sweet elements and herbal compounds. Closer to something like Heritage but less rich and full. It starts off a bit herbal (sage+lavender) and warm spicy (cinnamon), then the play-doh effect appears and lately, after 2-3h, it settles down to a light patchouli with vanilla and cinnamon combo. Again, not the greatest woody spicy around but very under the radar. I have the vintage EDT, with the build in sprayer (you have to turn to spray), and i find it very fun to wear during autumn. The bottle it's really cool and i like the sprayer mechanism. The longevity is good (around 8-10h) with a good bubble in the first hour-hour and a half. For the price, i can easily recommend, specially, if you like woody spicy fragrances, or just if you like to collect inexpensive gems like I do.

Mauboussin Pour Homme is such a joy to wear. This fragrance is just perfectly blended, and the note separation is very clear and seamless. The opening blast of cinnamon, patchouli and lavender is richly sweet and spicy. Then this lovely vanilla note emerges from the opening and just before it seems like another layer of sweetness is going to make this scent cloying, we are treated to some wonderfully blended herbs with this vanilla. The sage and rosemary harmonize perfectly with the vanilla note, which is eventually rounded out with a very creamy sandalwood. MPH veers almost on the verge of niche level here, with how well these notes are blended. Considering MPH'S price point it's truly impressive. The fragrance is finally leveled out with a nice musk and bergamot combo. The notes are all there, each one perfectly balanced, and blended so effortlessly not one note sticks out or comes off dominant, which is to be commended (considering that there are only nine notes listed). This fragrance is simple, and shines in it's simplicity. MPH is perfect for winter or fall and could also work well on cooler spring nights. MPH can be worn in the office or with smart or casual dress. Give MPH a spray on a fall night when it is your turn to plan the date and you want to unveil your favorite spots around town with confidence.

This review is for the original EDP that comes in the box with the purple stripe along the bottom (still widely available on eBay). I'm not going to go into much depth here other than to say that this is a very good spicy lavender fragrance with great hold and vibrancy and a nice woody vanilla base. At first sniff it reminded me of a more wearable and modern Jaipur Homme--a sort of spicy-powdery scent, but Mauboussin is more masculine due to the presence of patchouli and the lack of significant floral notes (other than the lavender, of course). There's a certain "stickiness" to the fragrance, and I mean that in the best way possible. I've noticed this quality in Masculin Pluriel by MFK as well, and it seems someone else also finds them similar. This might be attributed to the combination of lavender, cinnamon, and vanilla. All in all, a solid offering from Mauboussin, a good barbershop fougere that avoids the stereotypical aftershave smells and maintains a fresh, updated appeal. Feel is casual to semi-formal, longevity and projection are both average to a little above. Thumbs up and available for a more than reasonable price.

(Vintage EDP) Unfortunatly I was a little underwhelmed. I blind bought a vintage EDP expecting more magic, but somehow still felt disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there's a quality here. Mauboussin Homme is done well, but the composition as a whole comes off a bit generic to me. If you own a bunch of fragrances already, chances are you already own something that smells pretty similar to this. The good news is that Mauboussin Homme won't be offensive to the masses. It's in that crowd pleaser catagory. I was however also disappointed in it's stamina. Even the vintage juice feels like it can't be oversprayed, so I guess it's a good thing that the sprayer is so aggressive. I can only imagine how weak the reformulated version of MH is, lol. If the sweet and incense of Zirth Icon were toned down, you'd basically have Mauboussin Homme. I'll use my bottle sparingly, due to it's vintage nature. If you already own Versace Dreamer or Zirth Icon, I wouldn't bother with Mauboussin Homme, unless you just want to add to your collection.

Fougere? Yes please. Lavender and rosemary are the main notes followed by bergamot in the open. The sage began to come through late open before the cinnamon spice and powdery patchouli began to add more structure and depth in the heart. The base is somewhat lighter than you might expect with creamy vanilla sandalwood with hues of musk. This smells pretty great, and per some of the reviews I've come across has held up well with the reformulations so it's pretty close to the vintage (just not as strong). I think it's light enough to wear deep into the Spring. Vintage guys, do you have this and if so how is the base? I feel that's probably where most of the reformulation occurred because the open and middle were pretty solid. If that vintage base is more solid, I'd probably hunt down a bottle because this was getting close to a love but couldn't quite get over the hump.

newest bottle, blue juice. reviews presenting this as potent are obviously meant for older edt bottles with purple juice. current edp formulation is rather underwhelming when it comes to performance, but still not to the point where it would be a major issue. at least not for that price and certainly not when you consider the smell inside the bottle. I know they aren't that similar but anyone who likes fragrances like Zino or Blue Jeans, or any other fragrance that maybe feels a bit retro today without ever being completely old school, is going to like this as well. no doubt about that. and let's face it, when we say retro or old school, in most cases we simply mean manly, which describes Mauboussin Homme better than anything.

New bottle. This fragrance has a light touch. All the notes are blended seamlessly through much of the wear to create an aromatic, herbal, sweet, resinous, smooth elixir effect that is not cloying. In particular the lavender and vanilla blend well. This aroma could be a very refined, not too sweet, not too rich pastry served at high tea. Or a dessert liqueur, crème de lavande instead of crème de violette. Or a craft lavender gin made into a cocktail. To my nose, all scents lavender and vanilla risk association with candles, room sprays and cleaning products. I can almost smell citronella candle on a patio with lavender bushes. But finally this is pretty and sufficiently light and refined so it can't go there.

It's not a bad scent, but i have to agree with TYC. It’s dated and not in a good way. It’s a crime to compare it to Jaipur EDP. Jaipur is a masterpiece of perfumery. It’s much more complex and well-made than Mauboussin Homme, which is more comparable to Zino in terms of profile, but Zino is also much more pleasant. Mauboussin is so simplistic that it feels unfinished. It’s basically lavender on a vanilla base. Don’t be fooled by the fact that the perfumer was Alberto Morillas, as this is not a good example of his reputable work. Edit: Using in the summer for the first time, i found it much more pleasant than in cold weather. In the summertime we want to keep things simple, don't we want?

Purchased as a blind buy (was heavily reduced in price) took it home went out for a few drinks the same night, perfect excuse to try it out. Gave 2 sprays on neck, 1 each wrist and couple on tshirt for good measure. Initialy panicked as was a fairly extreme cinamon and lavender scent, after 10minutes though starts to calm down, takes on a rather sweet and complex spicy note, still holds the lavender and cinamon but less intense. To my nose and my girlfreind its a very attractive scent and its complexity gives it a sense of class. The EDP lasts on my skin for around 4hrs and on clothes for an additional hour or 2 more depending on conditions. a solid 8/10

This is a perfect “Quality never goes out of style” example. That particular style would be the likes of Bois du Portugal from Creed, Guerlain Héritage, Lalique Homme Lion, etc. etc. What I like especially about Mauboussin Homme is how well integrated everything is. Where Héritage (at least the EDP) has maybe a tad too much talcum for being a regular reach for me, and Jaipur pour homme maybe a touch too much cinnamon and spice making it difficult to not think about food, Mauboussin Homme strikes a balance between everything. Like Perfumov states below: Perfect gentlemanly fusion. For office use the year around, maybe high heat is to be avoided.

I recently purchased Mauboussin Homme cologne and I have to say I’m definitely impressed! The scent is an perfect balance between warm and spicy with hints of citrus and wood — it’s just the right amount of sophistication for my taste. I love the fact that it’s fresh and clean, yet still has a richness that I find so appealing. The overall scent lasts all day and was more than worth the money I paid for it. I highly recommend Mauboussin Homme cologne for any man out there who wants to feel refreshed and sophisticated.

This perfume is a classic perfume for a middle-age to older gentleman. Class, style and yet playful. The opening is very prominent with rosemary-aromatic scent. The bitterness of the bergamot mixes in and fuses with patchouli. Then it is going into some warm freshness, and ends in a vanilla-cinnamon scent that reminds you of the fresh tasty aromatic bakery. When to wear? For me almost autumn and winter is best. It is a classical perfume for a well-dressed gentleman.

Bought this on a whim on the discounter, so had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. This is a good transition fragrance from warm to cold weather - spicy but clean and airy. It's not strong, but it doesn't completely disappear either. I think our expectations are that everything is full on projection and sillage - this isn't any of those. Its just what I want in October in California.

I agree with the positive reviews about this fragrance, it is just nice to wear and is classy and well blended, quality packing and bottle design for a steal, and you can be sure not many guys around would be wearing since here I the US since this brans is more known in Europe I am getting most of their fragrances for men and getting curious abut the femme ones :-)
