Star Chérie

This is fun. It's like a very realistic tart cherry juice with a just a hint of warmth. To my nose the almond is slightly detectable but the vanilla is so well blended it does not send this in a cloying bakery gourmand direction. It manages to stay fresh and light despite the woody base. No horrible synthetic raspberry here. It might not be a signature scent but if you can get your hands on a bottle it is well worth it. Lasts a few hours on skin. I have not tried it on fabric yet, however it lasted over 24 hours on paper so ymmv. Note: my bottle is from the first batch available in the USA. It seems they had some manufacturing issues with the bottles. Some leak at the sprayer, some the two pieces of the top disassemble themselves every time you remove it from the bottle. Some bottles have sharp edge. Definitely not something to keep in your purse or work bag. However sitting quietly on my shelf it is worth dealing with these issues for the juice inside. I hope they do a new run with better quality bottles. Despite the original Star having a very similar bottle, this issue I've only found with Star Cherie.

What a gorgeous sister to Modern Muse La Rouge by EL, albeit Star Cherie has more almond whilst MMLR leans more towards vinyl vibe. Both have an incredible take on a sour cherry which resembles a freshly picked fruit right from the tree; ripe, juicy, tarty, aromatic with the faintest lilac flower echo. Star Cherie has a fine marzipan feel about it thanks to almond-cherry combo, whilst MMLR leans more towards cherry-lipstick note. Star Cherie has a fabulous tonka-vanillic dry down, very cocooning and comforting. Decent projection here, comparable with the original Star. This underestimated gem is here to stay with me. I don't regret this blind buy and would mostly definitely recommend it to cherry lovers. Can't get enough of it. Thumbs up. P.S. I agree with other reviewers; it's easy to profane the best juice formulation if the cherry note turns into a cough syrup. Nothing of this sort happening here; the cherry note is the most natural smelling one you can imagine.

What a captivating fragrance! Initially, I was a bit worried that the cherry note would smell synthetic (especially after noticing it has raspberry in it), but after wearing it for some time, I can happily say that Mauboussin Star Cherie is a natural sweet delight of cherry and almond with a hint of vanilla and orange. Out of the box, Star Cherie lasts surprisingly long (8 hours), though the sillage could be better. A few weeks/months of maceration should improve its performance.

To sum up: boozy AMARETTO (with cherry in the first 30 min). Blind buy. Wow the box is beautiful and velvety! The bottle is beautiful, in an unsusual shape.The lid is dissapointing, as it doesn't cover the sprayer, so the perfume is practically always exposed to the air "without lid". Anyways. Great atomizer. Scent (on my skin): First thought: Omg it is i-de-nti-cal to the cherry bouquet by Afnan! Amaretto cherry (very boozy alcoholic drink). After 2-3 min I pick up on the lilac and the almond becomes stronger and more bitter, along with the tonka. Not vanilla; tonka. Then it's just Amaretto cherry again, with less and less cherry... 😔 It's very VERY WEAK, so I'm wondering...am I becoming anosmic to it after 10 min?? 😅 Drydown: soft Amaretto. Ok, I'll use it as a body spray before the Cherry Bouquet or other cherry fragrances. No problem to bathe in it as it costs only 15-25 euros. Love it, though esp. for autumn and winter nights (it's too boozy to wear it during daytime imo). I'm just a lot into this scent profile🥰🤗🍒🥃❤️❤️❤️ Longevity: 2h on my skin (max) 😔😔😔 Compared to Cherry Bouquet, Afnan: The Afnan is the same with this one, but weaker and it has less cherry as the time goes by. This is more Amaretto. Compared to Zukhruf Cherry, Zimaya: Zimaya is the same + a clear Middle Eastern note (OUD - not listed, but it's clearly there in the drydown) and it has an amaretto:cherry ratio at 1:1 and holds the cherry for longer, but's it's weaker and doesn't project at all, and the oud.... :/ you have to like sharp OUD and ME vibes to like that one.

I liked it until my mom convinced me that it was bad. Someone mentioned it smells like a cherry industrial cleaning product and they are kind of right about that. At first spray it smells okay but then the dry down just smells like a cherry bathroom deodorant. My mom said this stuff is STRONG and it fills up a whole room with its fragrance. She did not like it. One of my dogs had an immediate reaction to it when I tried to hug her while wearing this fragrance. I don't really get the notes and accords listed here. Initially it does have a fresh cherry juice smell but then it smells like powdery cherry makeup scent and then dries down to having a generic cinnamic note mixed with a faint amber. No amaretto that other people are noting, no nutty almond, or any vanilla.... Bottle looks pretty and hefty but the perfume's own liquid tends to strip the paint or stain off the glass bottle.
