Vetiver

Mazzolari's Vetiver opens mysteriously: nutmeg, some citruses — lime, bergamot and then orange — but the main star, the vetiver, is a little soapy and elusive to begin with. The dominance of the base note takes some time to develop and at first there seems to be an absence, a lack of top or heart after that citrussy opening. But when it does come it's worth the wait. This is rich, warm, spicy vetiver, very deep in the wood zone, diffuse rather than sharp, bright or grassy. Oh! it cooks up nicely. As the skin warms it, the vetiver starts to lift off and the soft and muted, nutty brown tobacco makes its appearance. I think I can pick out some unlisted supporting notes: the soapy woodiness of orris root in the transition phase, the smoothness of oakmoss, some clary sage as well, nudging it further towards the masculine end of the spectrum. A little out-of-time in its traditional styling, the Guerlain Vetiver comparisons hold up, though Mazzolari's Vetiver is richer, more masculine, less smoky, a little darker. A real beauty. And on a side-note, I love the velour book presentation box. There should be more perfumes packaged this way for bookshelf storage.

Starts very fresh with bergamot and lime leading. Fresh but not sharp. Indeed, very is, right away, a noticeable presence of a creamy note (sandalwood?) that will smooth the edges all along the developement of this fragrance. Then a spicy tobacco appears. The drydown is all about a grassy vetiver supported a hint of florals and spices. Overall a very classic structure a'-la-Guerlain (very similar to Mazzolari's drydown), brought to the next level of elegance and refinement. With this vetiver, I'm glad that Mazzolari succeeded where De Nicolai disappointed. Simply beautiful. Spring and Summer days, 30+

Oh, wow, this is nice. Opening with burst of sweet orange and sparkling lime, followed by marvelous vetiver and sweet tobacco. Such a lovely expierence. I love how lime here is natural and blends so perfectly together with the sweet notes balancing them out. In heart it does turn a bit too bitter for me, but all in all this smells lovely, very classy, very high quality and very rich smelling. Give this a try.

Simply the second best Vetiver fragrance I've tried next to French Lover. There's just something so elegant about this fragrance that makes you feel like royalty. From beginning to end it is a masterfully blend of Spices, Florals, Citruses, Crisp vetiver, tobacco and I believe there might be some ambergris and rosewood as well. I get a barbershop vibe out of it and I love it.

This is a powdery lemon which is very pleasant for the daytime summer. Dab it instead of spraying, to tame the citrus intensity. Sits close to the skin. A sophisticated citrus and absolutely unisex.
