MCM Eau de Parfum

MCM Eau de Parfum smells SO GOOD, but is not at all what I expected. I think I envisioned something heavier, more sensual and I don't really know why because the notes are not really ones used in heavy perfumes. What MCM smells like in reality is a super fresh fruity floral with some shampoo vibes - minus apple which I always think of when I hear someone say shampoo. This scent doesn't fit the aesthetic of the bottle at all. I pictured something like Gucci Guilty based on the bottle. To be honest, the bottle is not my favorite and in fact turns me off of this perfume so despite really liking it, I don't know if I would actually buy a bottle. I have an 8 ml decant for now that it more than fine. This scent is so uplifting! I almost want to say unique, but that's not quite right. There are a ton of fruity floral scents out there with a fresh vibe so it's not unique at all. I just don't know that I have ever smelled a fragrance with a nice blend of just raspberry and apricot as the fruity notes. I really smell both and it smells fantastic! The middle notes and base notes are nice choices - the peony isn't too synthetic or overpowering and the violet leaf and jasmine are nice and subdued. Then, the base notes of vanilla, moss, sandalwood, and ambroxan are the perfect touch. This perfume is so pleasant and well-rounded. I really had to overspray in order to smell anything and even now, about 2 hours after applying, I can't really smell anything if I put my nose up to my skin. But, I do get a sense of a perfume cloud around me, but it's not a "heavy" cloud. It's a bit strange as most perfume doesn't 'sit' on me like this. I can't smell it on my skin and I can't smell it on my clothes, but I do smell it around me. Weird! I mostly wear perfume for my own enjoyment and I'm not sure if I like that I can't smell it on me even though I know that it's detectable. Overall, my feelings on this perfume are: it smells fantastic, but I despise the bottle, and don't enjoy that I can't smell it directly. Someone else said this is a fruitier and less aquatic version of Versace Bright Crystal. I'd say that is fairly accurate!

Based on the reviews from here, I think we are not talking about the same fragrance...I have been testing this perfume all week and have just placed an order for the 75 ml bottle cause I have completely fallen in love with it. This is such a casual, but at the same time, out of the ordinary smell, I was simply blown away. It's a day to day perfume for sure, but I can see it being a signature scent as well, there's no way you can go wrong with it. At first you smell the raspberry and apricot, but then it stays quite floral and clean, though I wouldn't describe it as 'fresh'. I don't know, something about it smells so good to me and blended so well with my skin chemistry, I can see myself wearing it everyday and not getting tired of it, especially during spring/summer. The sillage it's not mind blowing, but in my opinion, you don't really want that from a day scent, and in terms of longevity, I got 5 hours max on my skin, then it calms down to a skin scent; but I could still smell this 2 days later on my clothes. To me this perfume smells like that rich and very well put together relative, I don't know about the price, maybe it's a bit exaggerated. In conclusion, try the fragrance beforehand if you are interested to buy it and don't get influenced by other people from the comments. (yes I am still bitter you guys are not doing it justice)

As a guy, I was impressed with how nice this smelled (I didn't realize it was feminine off the sample I sprayed). To me, it smelled like a very nice YSL MYSLF edp, but slightly sweeter, fruitier, more floral, etc. And it wasn't until I doused myself with it to give it a full wear that I noticed how fem leaning it was. It's all those things I mentioned, sweet, fruity, floral- it's actually really nice, but I wouldn't wear it because I prefer my fragrances to be a little more masculine- but I wouldn't mind if my girl wore it! PS - This fragrance is strong. The ambroxan really amps it up for me. When I said I doused myself with it- all I really did was spray one spray on each forearm- and that alone has made it seem like I sprayed my neck, arms, shirt, wrists, etc. I feel like I have a huge bubble of the fragrance surrounding me, and the sillage I'm sure is crazy because of it. For the price I paid for this blind buy 30ml, I'd say it was a win. (I'm gifting it to my girl however, and if she doesn't like it, I'm selling it).

8/10. The opening is a little weird; I think the fresh peony is not in instant harmony with this sort of leathery apricot/raspberry, but it becomes so much better after. Compared to another beloved peony of mine, Acqua Di Gioia, which retains it's sharpness throughout, this is rounded, quiet, smells like a signature scent but in the personal way, that you can't really tell if it's a deodorant or laundry detergent or cleanliness or a mix of them all, not in the I-bought-a-perfume way. Like how you'd want your partner to smell when you shove your face into their shirt in the morning. It's so addictive to me. I'd describe it as my currently favorite unisex perfume. I feel like the projection is soft but the longevity is good. Got some compliments from a bunch of different people!

It seems I'm in the minority, because I LOVE this perfume. MCM is clean, fresh, fruity, and delicious, like the kind of luscious-smelling shampoo that has you hopping in the shower four times a day, just to smell it on your hair and skin. It smells like the pretty girl-next-door who doesn't do a thing to maintain her image, but always looks and smells effortlessly fresh and amazing. MCM is admittedly "generic"- there's no unique twist that you haven't smelt before, and it won't drop jaws (twitch noses?) when you enter a room, unless you're a Body Fantasies/Bath and Body Works kind of gal. But sometimes, smelling reliably fruity, pretty, inoffensive, and basic is exactly what the day calls for.

@ladylovesperfumes My beautiful bottle arrived this morning. I purchased it directly from MCMWORLDWIDE. The bottle is semi big,heavy with leather cover as their iconic backpack ✔ And now the scent : Oh my smelly Goddess of all perfumes!!! MCM perfume is very close t to Princes Chipie .... It is now settling on my skin and I get a warmer & more tamed version of Princess Chipie which I used to l♥️ve ✔✔✔ yeah ... backup bottle already in my wishlist ♥️💥✔✔ So far it has lastes about 6 hours with a mild projection. I am so happy that I bought it ✔🍀🍀🍀 I will update my review and get into the notes once I know what is going on...🤭

I like this one! It's fruity and uplifting but still has a little warmth and passes as unisex thanks to the sandalwood and ambroxan. There's a nice acquatic (but not sharp) cucumbery note at the opening, which I think is the violet leaf. It's not unique and mind blowing, but it's nice. Like a really nice shampoo. A good scent for fun weekend plans, especially in summer. I don't tend to reach for fruity scents as much these days, so I wouldn't buy a full bottle. I also agree with those who said the bottle doesn't fit the scent (even if it's cute, it gives a misleading impression).

This smells nice ! Would be a great option for summer . It is fruity and it definitely reminded me of something, apon fry down it does smell a little like bright crystal and reminds me of a shampoo as well . I like this , I feel like it’s a better done version of bright crystal, I used to love that one but I grew out of it but I actually enjoyed this one . This smells like bc mixed with Burberry her and a tiny bit of Armani si . But it’s definitely reminding me of Burberry her more now that’s it’s dried down for over an hour

I have been a fan of the MCM brand since high school. I still have the hat my dad bought back from one of his many overseas tours of duty. My boyfriend purchased my special holiday edition red bottle and it's one of my top 5 favorite scents. It lasts all day on me. The scent is fresh, a little citrusy, and gorgeous. I definitely plan to buy MCM Ultra.

I am an absolute fiend for ambroxan so this was love at first smell. I do find it hit or miss with longevity, some days it has stayed all day other days I can’t smell it much after an hour, regardless the scent is just perfection. Definitely not cheap smelling in any way and something different than most so would leave a lasting impression

Light, fresh, airy and very unisex. This is great all year round.

It's very modern, it has character, and it's pleasant.

After years of browsing ratings here anonymously, I registered for Fragrantica just to post this review, but I'll do more reviews now that I have crept out of the shadows. I was really pleasantly surprised by MCM Eau de Parfum. Frankly, I ordered it because I thought the bottle looked great in the photos (it does in person, too). I know this is a lousy reason to buy a fragrance, but I did so anyway. I wasn't too sure about this fragrance after the initial spray. The fruity top notes are synthetic and sweet. They fade quickly to be replaced by a nice combination of florals which includes enough ozonic violet leaf to keep them from being overly feminine. The base has plenty of ambroxan with a creamy sandalwood & it is nice and inoffensive. I didn't love the fragrance--in fact I was very neutral about it. It seemed a little boring, actually. But then I wore it around other folks and got more unsolicited compliments than I have had with ANY other fragrance. I am a middle 50s guy who rarely gets compliments regardless of how good my scent smells or how well I am dressed. My conclusion: this stuff smells amazing to people near it--at least off of my skin--so much so that several felt they had to say something and ask what I was wearing. Second time wearing MCM was today. Same compliments, different people. And my wife told me to wear the fragrance to bed tonight. I am really not compliment driven. I am settled in my life and relationships and secure enough that I wear fragrance for myself, not to make an impression on others. And I am still pretty unimpressed by this scent. I will, however, keep it around for times when I want to get my ego boosted by random positive attention. Why not? I'm only human. The fragrance is utterly unisex, good for most situations including office/workplace and the projection and longevity are both quite good. At $80 directly from the MCM website, this is fairly priced. I suspect it will hit the discounters eventually and that I will get a back-up bottle when it does. So folks, try and get a sample of this stuff. Wear it on skin, it is better that way than on paper. If it works as well for you as it does for me, you'll definitely want a full bottle. And the bottle will look really interesting on your shelf too. Recommended.

I like this. Reaching for thie is different because I don't get that alcohol, stinging, sparkling kind of effect that many other perfumes have. It feels almost like a creamy scented lotion. It is very fruity over floral in my opinion. I don't think I get any of the Jasmine when I smell this. The woody notes are there but I get mostly fruity. These are fruit scenta I do lobe though. I feel this is a younger scent, sweet and inoffensive. I really enjoy the smell and feel of this one. I agree with another poster that this does have a nostalgic feel to it and I enjoy that sometimes.

A lovely, well-balanced floral. Not very strong, but that might just be an issue with my nose. I can't smell ambroxan and for me, it cancels out many other notes. I'm anosmic to most perfumes that have it, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can actually sort of smell this one. I don't think I'm getting the full effect, but what I can pick up on is a sophisticated mossy floral concoction. To me this smells like clean Spring air.

For me the presentation is the strongest point of this fragrance. The bottle is indeed my vote for the best bottle design encompassing the vibe if this iconic leather goods brand. The smell is powdery sweet at the opening with a woody floral dry down. A light scent wearable by both men an women. Best suited for close encounters or personal enjoyment as its projection is limited.

I’m really enjoying this! It immediately reminds me of something familiar from the 90’s, but I don’t know what exactly. Whatever it was, I liked it then and I like it now. The raspberry stays sweet and tangy. The florals are blended well. The dry down has beautiful woods that aren’t strong enough to sting the nose. Very pleasant. I need a bigger bottle!

This scent reminds me of a subdued 273 Rodeo Drive- the animalic notes got swapped out for sweet notes. It also has a powdery vibe in the beginning that’s not present in 273 Rodeo Drive. It makes a great cozy scent for that transition period between cooler and warmer weather. A longer longevity would be great, but it’s pleasant enough otherwise.

Started out strong synthetic and effervescent fruitiness. Smelled nice but really nothing special. I was suprised at the dry down. It finishes down to something more heavier, creamy and generic. Becomes slightly more masculine as well. The mini bag bottle is the best part about this!

It is a nice, fruity perfume, perfect for daily wear or at the office. It feels comforting and familiar, like something you've definitely smelled before. It's nothing fancy, but it's a great everyday choice.

This smells nice and won't offend anyone, but I wouldn't buy this because the longevity is poor and it's honestly a bit boring (and I say that as someone who likes low sillage scents and Jo Malone stuff!).

Very bubbly but refined. Kind of a sweet, playful grandma scent. At the same time suited for young professionals that aren’t trying to smell like they’ve got two kids and a mortgage.

Aww man, I was expecting MCM celebrity red carpet je ne sais quoi, new money kind of scent. Nope. Its just a pretty perfume-y fragrance. Its not fruity sweet at all either. From opening to dry down, IMO, it smells like when you walk in to the perfume section of a department store. It is pleasant, but not one that stands out. Its just a mixed concoction of perfumes. Nothing exciting or interesting. Just okay, nice. Save your money dolls, life is short,, and you can definitely save to pick up something you'll enjoy better and that will wow you. This is one I would grab at an Airbnb for a wedding or a brunch bc I forgot my perfume at home and I want to smell like something nice and not just my shampoo and body wash. I'm keeping it, bc I bought it on sale and the packaging is hella cute, and I'm a perfume horder. Just my opinion, hope it helps ツ

This is a floral bomb and actually seems quite linear. At no time during my testing of this did I ever smell anything that wasn't sweet florals aside from the slight muskiness in the drydown. I wouldn't personally claim this to be unisex but if I had to it's definitely leaning feminine. I got approx six hours out of this on my skin. I'm not a huge fan, but it isn't terrible. There's not really anything more to be said.

Never heard of this brand and this fragrance until yesterday when received it in a sample set from Dillard as a present... I have to say, I didn’t miss anything. This is as generic as it gets. I would never guess this one among many other fruity flowery fragrances. To my nose it’s absolutely nothing special...

Shampoo! An apple shampoo scent with a hint of ambroxan / moss when it dries down. Safe enough, smells like a teen’s first perfume. Not FB worthy. And far too feminine to be called unisex. I scrubbed it off - not because I particularly disliked it, it was just uninteresting.

Nothing wrong with this. Smells very close to Bright Crystal-- it's fruity and effervescent, clean, sweet, non-aldehydic. Nothing groundbreaking, but an easy grab for summer. I wouldn't pay asking price and I am not a fan of the bottle.

Very pretty everyday fragrance. It's office-friendly and very clean and pleasant, although the price is a misunderstanding. I would value it at $30 tops, nowhere near being worth $130.

The scent is not mesmerizing but as stated already, it’s nice. Maybe it’ll wear better in the summer? Bottle is super cute to me and something different.

This scent is sooo generic. Like every other designer perfume from early 2000s. Safe as a gift I would guess as it's mass-appealing and light.

It smells soapy, like a clean bathroom. It’s okay just reminds me too much of cleaning products.

Smells like Eros Femme. This to me is not unisex and it leans more feminine to my nose.

I was browsing in the mall when this unique bottle caught my eye. I love when brands are committed to their aesthetic so a bookbag makes sense for MCM. Unfortunately, the fragrance was lackluster. I got a sample so I was able to sit with it. It starts as a crowd-pleasing fruity floral with a woody base (which is not inherently a bad thing), but it lacks character. It needed either a unique twist or a high quality composition. If you're going to do a "safe" fragrance, the scent should be smooth and flawless. This just smells generic and cheap that quickly becomes an aggravating musk in the dry down.

From the description I thought this might be interesting....I was wrong. On first sniff it made me sneeze, which is never a good sign. I got a brief scent of raspberries but then it very quickly disappeared and the next sniff reminded me of nurses/health clinics. It wasn't medicinal but gave me an impression of the cleaning products type of smell you get...or at least I get when going to my local health centre. Very odd. It then faded to a very non-descript scent, which also gave me a headache, so this is another one off my list.

This is a peony dominant floral scent that wears a bit sour from the top note fruits, at least on my skin. I also found the jasmine to be fleeting. The sillage was about two feet. Short longevity, about three hours. I didn't find this scent to be attractive, as a female. I think I might like to smell it on a male though.

I received a sample of this and I think this is one of the worst scents I've smelt lately. It opens as a typical cheap fruity floral and in the drydown it has a dirty dry musk. It smells very cheap and uninspired. I wouldn't want to smell this on anyone.

There are some great notes in this perfume, but I can't deal with the peony one. (This is just personal. I don't like peony.) It is a sophisticated perfume! I do enjoy the sparkling raspberry and sweet, woody peach.

I can’t believe this is being sold as a perfume, it smells like hair spray or some kind of cleaner. It’s awful, the packing as well.

The kind of ambroxan that smells like cleaning spray, this time with a very chemical hint of fruit and powder. (For the Superdose haters club, it's much weaker than that but the dominant note is in the same cetalox/ambroxan family.) I'm trying not to scrub so I can see if it develops, but this one would be a scrubber if it were stronger. Hopefully its staying power is as weak as its scent bubble. Came in a 2021 sampler set, pumped the top/alcohol into the sink then did a two pump skin test.

The notes in this had me excited. But it ended up being of the weakest fragrances I have smelled. Like Ever. I get about 5 minutes of raspberry woodiness and that's only if I literally lay my nose on my skin and search for it.

strong synthetic soapy medicinal smell which gave me a headache

I was drawn to the warm golden color of the packaging and tried this as I was walking through Nordstroms. At first, based on merely a first impression of smelling this perfume on a paper test sample -- this has the smell of first walking into a huge department store where a number of people have been spraying perfume. This greets you with a nice chord which registers like you are having a great retail shopping experience at a place like Nieman Marcus, Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, blah blah blah. You know the feeling you get when you have been unleashed in a store with high end perfume products - and you are happier than if you had just won the lottery~ (YOU KNOW THE FEELING, I'm Sure of It!) I was really thrilled with the first notes of this, then about 20 minutes into the wear of this - this turned a little too acidic (or something, lord knows -- I'm certainly NOT a chemist) with my chemistry. I didn't realize that it had Peonies in it, but that would totally make sense and fit my previous pattern. It is a very rare peony perfume that I can wear. (For some reason, peony note really clashes with my particular chemistry). I feel like this is still a really good perfume - and could possibly be a GREAT perfume... But perhaps I drink too much coffee; eat too many tomatoes, or something -- This goes really acidic on me. Perfume should really take a leap in consciousness and start with medical testing to determine what your chemistry is really calling for. Are you leaning more acidic - neutral - or what? There should be perfume classifications that could help you better know what would blend with your particular chemistry. Perfume is more than just an art -- there is totally a SCIENCE behind this -- but we are still treating this as if it is just mere luck that we are drawn to a particular fragrance, or not. Why not shorten this learning curve and help people figure out where they are coming from to start with -- and then find a perfume that would be a really great chemical match for them. Yeah -- this is a multi billion dollar idea, if someone can just implement what I have said. I really love perfume and colognes --- and truly, it is one of the things which can immediately improve your life, if you find just the right blend of notes which harmonizes with your particular chemistry.

I've sampled this perfume from the bottle (didn't try it on my skin) and thought it was OK even though I don't usually like apricot all that much.I guess the raspberry overwhelms it so it's not that prominent in the opening. I'm OK with the rest of the notes. The funny thing though is that I had a visceral reaction to the bottle. It repelled me for some reason, That's never happened to me before. Sure, there are bottles that I've thought were ugly, vulgar or bizarre and I really don't care for the Burberry fabric covered bottles either, but I never had this type of inexplicable. almost physical recoiling before, for no obvious reason. It's very perplexing to me. Maybe it's a sensory thing or maybe it awakens something in my subconscious that is disturbing to me. I can't think of any other reason that it creeps me out.
