MCM Twenty Four Morning

Unfortunately it has been long discontinued, I have not come across anything like it. Wish the time could be turned, I would love to have it again. That's what I said about the 90's, brings back a lot of great memories. I knew I had this in 1995 together with Very MC and later on the MCM evening Altogether it makes lovely combination and I highly recommend that yes, MCM is renowned brand and its fragrance is serious stuff

05. november 2012 I have found a review about this fragrance in one blog and wanted to share it with the rest of you, hope the owner doesn ́t mind: "This obscure house happens to be dear to my heart. This 1993 release accompanied Twenty Four Evening and while both are extremely different, they each contain impressive presence, originality and good longevity. This also is the same house that released "Success". That one, along with the Twenty Four series, endeared me to MCM. Only Black Silver lacked merit in my opinion while the aforementioned are collection-worthy and enjoyable wears. Twenty Four Morning embodies fresh and heavy at the same time. It opens with a substantial blast of citric lavender with hints of spices. The orange rendition is slightly bitter, yet slightly sweet. There's also a dense, aquatic quality surrounding the notes and makes for a very interesting initial accord. The "fresh" aspect of Twenty Four Morning brings with it a synthetic aura, but I find it likable. Normally, a scent of this ilk wears lighter and I'm surprised at the gravity inherent in this. I shouldn't be perplexed since its counterpart ( Twenty Four Evening ) is a heavyweight in its own right. The heart transitions by carrying over a mellow version of the opening and augmenting it with some mild Geranium, Coriander and spice. It never evolves overtly green or herbal and adds just enough to make the middle of Twenty Four Morning satisfying. A polite jasmine note creeps into the full bodied heartnotes and seems to perpetuate the sweetness from the opening orange that has subsided considerably by this stage. The blossomy quality is still evident, albeit passively and merges with an oncoming musk. Not until drydown does any real woodiness rear its head on me. The amber is subtle, dry and sans any resin. The musk is the alpha note in Twenty Four Morning's drydown and gets an assist from wood and a bit of moss. I have never realized Tonka in any wearing and that's okay. It could be I simply cannot detect it after smelling this for hours on end. Sillage is good and longevity even better. If this sounds interesting, evilbay usually has mini sets of Morning and Evening for affordable prices. I got a mini of this one (along with MCM Twenty Four Evening) about a year ago when I ordered some fragrances from the very generous Basenotes user xmen. And again, kudos to passionata20 for posting Aromi's concise and on-point review below. I think he deciphers the fragrance quite well. However, it is a bit different to my nose. While MCM Twenty Four Evening is a more complex, oriental-floral-fougère with all kinds of shit going on, Twenty Four Morning is a more conventional "90s" fragrance. While it still retains that classic fougère quality (I actually do smell a fern sort of note), it also has a metallic cardamom/coriander accord, one that's reminiscent of contemporaries like Herrera for Men or XS by Paco Rabanne. It also strikes me as a precursor of sorts to Abercrombie and Fitch's popular Fierce for Men, only this one smells much more high quality and well-made. As with Twenty Four Evening, longevity on this one is anywhere from 6 to 8 hours on me. So far, I appreciate Twenty Four Evening more, but out of the two, Twenty Four Morning is definitely the more accessible one, and I'm sure this would garner a lot of compliments if worn in public. Maybe this one even had some influence!

Seriously similar to Cool Water original formula. Very much of its time. Lot of synthetics here but sillage is decent and it doesn't have the same lingering astringency as cool water. very linear but it is what it is. refreshing summer scent for casual outdoors. don't go wasting big bucks on this...

Much more similar to Cool Water than Green Irish Tweed is !
