Maui

This is my first sample of this niche house. I must say I'm more than surprised and pleased. This little creation opens with a zesty ginger and sharp anise followed by green, natural bamboo which pleases my nose very much. I get the tuberose, but it's definitely not "all over the place", so this might intrigue some of the tuberose dislikers. The frangipani gives a weird turn to the all expierence, but I must say in a good way. It reminds me a bit of red tea - fresh and cold. I'm not sure if I get the "sea" note, there is something weird playing around, but I must say I can't catch what is it, I just know it works lovely. This could be such a perfect summer fragrance, very feminine, natural and likeable with a "weird" feel to it making this unique and special.

I got a sample. The first smell I get realy is the see water. Then a green scent, probably the bamboo, and a flowery scent takes more space. I agree that the dry down is much nicer. Flowery-gingery. Nice but I wont be pruchasing a bottle. EDIT : after several hours I could still smell it. It's long lasting on me...

Wow, is that sweet. Generally I like licorice scents; this one, not so much, at least at first. Headache material. I will agree with everyone, give it a good scrub (or wait a while) and you'll like it much more. I does get better with time!

It has a ginger licorice scent that is overpowering but the dry down is much nicer. It doesn't last much longer than two hours. i could barely smell it on me int he third hour. I would never pay the price they charge for a full bottle of it. I cannot imagine anyone getting much of any scent impact from this at all. Oh and there is no sea/marine accord whatsoever.

Cereza is spot on about the description it's like some sort of asian tea, but I don't like it. It's got a medicinal zing to it.

As others have noted, Maui opens with a somewhat medicinal smell. It smells like menthol and mint to me, but this is probably the anise and ginger. It's a sharp, rather biting scent in the topnotes. Very minty, menthol and very heavy licorice. Then the marine elements come in and the scent smells more watery for a while. Finally, in the drydown, it becomes much more tropical scented with the frangipani and tuberose coming to the party. I like the drydown very much; it's a fresh smelling frangipani and tuberose, like a sea breeze wafting smells of flowers on the wind. The ginger really joins the party in the drydown with the anise still giving a licorice kick in the background. You do have to wait through the mentholish heavy anise phase which lasts about 2 hours for the lovely drydown. Maui is a new and different version of a tropical floral. Would be perfect for men as well as women.

This is a very interesting scent. I like that it is very different, it challenged my notions of what a typical perfume smells like. When I first smelled it, I didn't like it at all. The minty quality of the anise caught me off guard initially. I think it was just because I didn't know what to expect. It develops nicely into a beachy scent, and the tuberose is balanced with the other notes so as not to be too heavy and cloying. I would consider this a sweet fragrance.

If anyones looking... Full bottle with hands... Not my thing
