Cio Cio San

Un parfum d’une grande délicatesse ; si je devais recommander une fragrance dite « jeune fille », ce serait sans hésitation celle-ci, tant elle s’éloigne des douceurs sucrées simplistes et convenues L’ouverture se déploie autour d’une note de litchi claire et limpide, juteuse, étonnamment réaliste, soutenue par une touche de citron qui apporte à l’ensemble une vivacité douce, presque aérienne. Progressivement, le cœur floral prend place : un accord floral rosé, tendre, sans référence à une fleur identifiable. La fleur de cerisier, en tant que telle, étant pratiquement inodore et inexploitable en extraction, il s’agit ici d’une évocation, d’une image olfactive plutôt que d’une matière précise En fond, apparaissent des nuances vertes de feuillage et de tiges végétales, accompagnées d’une note de thé oolong dont le registre rappelle davantage les thés fruités que l’on trouve dans les salons de thé modernes Dans son ensemble, il s’agit d’un parfum féminin d’une réelle profondeur, capable de suggérer un printemps baigné de cerisiers en fleurs. À ce titre, il mérite à mes yeux une appréciation nettement plus élevée

Gorgeous lychee and flowers, with lovely cedar, guaiac wood and tea and gentle musk for comfort. I love it. I love the sharp citrus opening, and the beautifully true lychee - lychee is such a delicious fruit - and the lovely flowers. It smells very Japanese delicate feminine, pretty and also demure and serious, not silly or frivolous at all. The ginger is really nice and strong, and gives Cio Cio San a strong assertiveness, as if to say 'I may be delicate and pretty, but.....' I really like Cio Cio San, I feel very alluring in it, and my husband adores it on me. It lasts for 17 hours without needing any extra sprays, but I do put more on a couple of times during the day, as I love the opening so much! It is lovely.

Testing this from manufacturer dabber so not a s spray but I’m going to decant it in spray tomorrow. It’s juicy sweet but not cloying because it’s not chemically. If you’ve tried Peche Cardinal it’s about the same level of sweetness. But this is also both softened and strengthened by the florals. While peche gets to be almost fuzzy soft, this stronger and more alluring, but not in your face. I don’t get distinct florals but they are there on the outer layers of the projection. I think this is going to be a love. I do love and own la Belle helene and like Peche Cardinal. So for the hefty price tag I’m going to have to see which one I love more peche or this.

To me, this is very special and refined. It is light, absolutely not sweet, and slightly dry, reminiscent of tea. At the opening I notice a subtle lychee note that adds a fresh, juicy touch. Soon the scent develops a slightly smoky character, which I suspect comes from the gaiac wood or the oolong tea note. The dry down is fresh, dry, and subtly floral, creating a beautifully balanced composition. I can easily understand why people associate this fragrance with Japan: it has that calm, elegant, and understated aesthetic.

A well-balanced, juicy, fruity-floral perfume. Its rather straightforward and there aren't many secrets here, its just a really charming, tart and mouthwatering composition, perfect for warm weather. My favorite part is the slight hint of incense in the base (I think this could be a combination of the oolong and ginger) which stops it from being just another fruity floral. I don't think it warrants the $$$$ price tag for what it does, but I'm tempted nevertheless.

Ginger definitely adds a tiny warmth and sharpness to the fruity floral. It could be so basic but I think the ginger really makes it a little more interesting. There is a hint of something plummy but not plum maybe from the combo of lychee and cherry blossom? Very easy to wear, with the fruity highs of delina without the rose.

Sweet ginger tea opening. Delicate, feminine fruity flora drydown. Sweet and a little tart. Light and airy. Very nice. Smells like sherbert. -

The juiciest cherry-litchi fragrance and this peony is divine! So bright and fizzy, love it!

Smells like a lychee jelly in the opening, a very expensive and delicate one, then fades more into a floral blend. It's definitely clean with just a slight powdery quality on me. I'm typically not a fan of scents like this but I adore it, smells like Delina's elegant, ballet-chic sister. This is a scent for a girl with perfectly minimal pinkish makeup, nude lacquered nails, who always seems like she's freshly showered. You're not allowed to sweat or stink while wearing this one, the composition feels delicate and any mix of other smells will muddy it up. Although most votes are for spring and summer, it's not fresh enough and its sweetness lends too much density in the heat and humidity. I don't detect any watery transparent quality in Cio Cio San, it's quite perfumey. With winter coming up, I'll test this one more. I'd imagine the bright sweet lychee and florals to suit a clear, cold day. The scent profile itself reminds me of something you'd be able to find at B&BW or Laline (floral fruity), but it's done in a very classy, french-perfumey, heavier sort of way. Debating on a full bottle but it's going on my wishlist.

In Japan, when spring comes, people will sit under the cherry trees picnic, enjoy the rare beauty. This is a perfume smells cherry-colored,collection of various materials in Japan, grapefruit, ginger ...... but no a real cherry, it is not unique to Japan, cultural, spiritual. If you can go to reflect the aesthetic mono no aware, I think it will be better. Since MDCI want to create an image of Oriental girls, that in this regard, it should read Genji Monogatari, otherwise, perfume's name can also be a Sleeping Beauty. Cio cio san pretty cute, this is nothing wrong. I just feel pity, perfumer abandoned MDCI French elegance has always been made for the vulgar so there is no classical atmosphere.

My first thought was "plums", which isn't even listed as a note. Except for a little whiff of lemon I don't smell any of the notes listed. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful fruity, ripe and luscious, sitting on a bed of non-distinctive but pleasant flowers. The drydown is a beautiful honey with a touch of vanilla. Cio Cio San is more rich and deep than sweet. It is warm and sunny and happy. It is the perfect summertime perfume. Moderate sillage, good longevity. And the bottle is incredible!

A beautiful sweet fruity and fresh floral fragrance made of high quality ingredients. But for this exorbitant price point it leaves a little to be desired. The longevity or projection are not quite there, and it’s not exactly a spectacular perfume. Pleasant to wear, but not worth the money!

Very fresh and floral, with a very beautiful cherry blossom and a bit of litchy. I really thought the "tea" note will be quite prominent, but it's not :( was so disappointed by that.

This somehow gives Swedish Fish candy vibes. Much more of a sweet fragrance rather than a freshie to me.

Nobody feels natural bee wax candle scent in this? To me that is all it is. I don`t feel the cherry blossom nor litchi and I would certainly not say this is fresh. To me this is warm and sweet. I would probably enjoy if my a eco hotel room had this scent but not myself. In general I have to say I`m struggling with MDCI perfumes. I certainly want to give the time to take them all in and try to appreciate and eventually like them them but so far there has not been a single one that was an instant like. All of them have a strange, bizarre twist that I`m struggling with a bit.

This is more of a fresh homemade strawberry/raspberry lemonade on a sunlit lawn, fizzing softly with sparkling soda water. Halfway through the dry-down, there’s a slight faint, unexpected trace of gasoline (?); just enough to cut through the sweetness and give it a slightly odd edge. No woody base at all imho. To me, this is very much a spring scent: light, airy and watery, with sweet pink fruits and a juicy, almost translucent quality. Not a favourite, but pleasant enough.

Reminds me of those candies in the shiny, strawberry printed wrappers your grandma always had a bowl of. Add some lychee. It’s noticeably citrusy too! I don’t get any of the woody/muskiness. It dries down like a bright B&BW body spray. I can see a female ballerina wearing this while running errands...or on a millionaire’s 10 year old daughter.

Really pretty and light rose with a juicy fruit scent. Makes me think of pink, and not just because the perfume is the color. However, not blind buy safe for me, and SO glad I bought a sample. There’s something a tiny bit cloying and sickly about it. A little bit strange, and for me, it’s not a pleasant strangeness.

It’s very fun fresh and nice but not like something I’ve never smelled before. Reminds me of Bond 9 Astor Place or Santa Maria Novella Angels of Florence

Pretty, linear, tart, sweet, candylike. Good one, but not fbw for me.

Cio Cio San is a deceptively potent summertime mix of fruits and florals. Well blended with a mature feel instead of the more candy leaning offerings you may find from other perfumes with similar notes. For me personally though I'd prefer a bit more complexity, especially at the full bottle price. Once dried, it seemed to settle into a fairly straightforward combination of big, booming florals underpinned by a softly musky ginger. I think I'd be more curious to smell this on someone else than wear it myself.

MADAME BUTTERFLY FRAGRANCE Cio Cio San is the name of the Japanese Geisha in the Puccini opera Madame Butterfly and if she had a fragrance it's this one. It smells of Japanese cherry blossoms, very feminine, soft, sweet and romantic, even melancholy. It starts off with sharp bitter citruses I don't care for but it softens into a beautiful pairing of peony and cherry blossom. The dry down and end of the fragrance is woodsy with cedar. This is an artistically crafted fragrance. It's definitely a modern Oriental with a vintage vibe. It takes me to Japan every time. This expensive fragrance is from the MDCI Parfums line. They are beautiful fragrances but are overpriced. Their rose fragrances are well done but I can only wear this one as I find it to be a masterpiece. It was the most expensive fragrance I purchased this year. This one doesn't sell at Sephoras Macys Nordstroms and you can only order it direct from their website. This is worth te price. It's one of the most beautiful fragrances I am currently wearing. I find it suitable for day time wear casual wear. It's for spring and summer but I wear this anytime anywhere. It's floral chypre Oriental with such a delicious cherry blossom note that takes over the whole thing. I'm so glad I found you Cio Cio San and I will not abandon you unlike that bastard Pinkerton LOL

as I cling to probably the headiest of perfumes from this line 'Parfums MDCI' 'Chypre Palatin" and gave the 'Cuir Garamande' to my (straight) twinbrother bc of its manly character I fell in love with 'Cio Cio San' because of its delicateness. what I can distinctly detect are the lychee and the peony, beautiful. the citruses to me are supportive upstarters while I fear the cherry blossoms are so delicate their perfume escape my olphactory filters. yet in my feeling they co-op in the overall shintoness of this perfume what with the discernable tea accord (ceylan or oolong) make this perfume a sinojapanese particularistic princess in disguise. a perfume with such veiled myth to it and love story at that deserves all the stardust sprinkled upon it.

I really like this; it wears like a ripe, green fruit on me. I always get images from perfume, and with Cio Cio San I see artists. Painters, dancers and actresses. The scent makes me want to laugh, to create, to express myself in some fun way. Yes there is a lot of citrus here, which I tend not to wear well. My skin is amplifying the base and floral notes though, which is why this is so lush on me. It's a big, booming scent as well. I used just two dabs and Whoa! There is one note in particular that is really standing out, but I can't identify it (but it's a floral). Anyhow, do try this and see what you come up with. It's fun to wear.

Lychee as a type of fruit, is one of my childhood favourites. It always reminds me the story where a Tang Dynasty emperor sent his horse men to fetch the freshest lychee from Southeast China to the capital city of the middle kingdom, 3000 miles away, just to please his beautiful wife. The opening of Cio Cio San is probably the best, most realistic lychee I've smelt in perfume. I also get some citrus and pink floral. The lightly-dosed guaiac wood, tea leaves and not-so-lightly-dosed ginger give Cio Cio San a spicy layer and prevent it overly sweet. I quite like Cio Cio San although it might not be my favourite in this house.

The negativity in the comment is quite saddening to me because it's currently my favorite scent and im almost finished with the bottle and planning to buy another one. While ppl say its generic, honestly never smelled a scent like it. It is generic in the sense of fruity floral that you think of but the notes are quite different. Lychee - never smelled a perfume that captured this, as well as the tea in it. To me it smells like lychee tea with a fizz. It does dry down powdery and musky for me which is perfect! I do wear it all season cause there's something so refreshing about wearing a fizzy scent on a cold snowy day!

I had the chance to try this scent on a blotter, and it was absolutely lovely. A beautifully refined lychee note - not overly sweet, but fresh and sophisticated, and blended seamlessly with delicate white tea. The soft touch of musk tied everything together so effortlessly, making it feel both elegant and modern. Sadly, on my skin, the citrus notes kept pushing through, overshadowing that gorgeous lychee-tea elegance. Such a shame, really - I wanted to love it!

Tooth achingly sweet, too sweet even for me & I didn't think that was possible! It's the litchi that pushes me off a cliff here, it's not a note I like but if you like it AND v sweet stuff then this is your holy grail. Really beautiful quality scent, just not for me.

At first, the fruit accords were running the show, but this passed relatively quickly to a stage where the fruit and floral accords seemed quite harmonious. The drydown here is pretty because it's so nicely balanced. Longevity is good with modest sillage.

Cio Cio San is not the fresh cherry blossom scent I was imagining. It smells like tooth achingly sweet cherry gummies, or children’s cough syrup. I also smell a strong melon note and I’m surprised that no one else has mentioned it.

The opening is fresh (Ginger&lemon) but this passed relatively quickly and becomes a Juicy Fruity-Floral. Pretty, charming and feminine. Made for a princess, I really like this! Long lasting longevity and soft-moderate sillage

Fresh, uplifting fruity floral scent. Very feminine and clean, but oh so generic! it is very similar to the humble Roger & Gallet Rose cologne. It is ok, but not something I would buy for retail price.

I don't even care what it smells like. I NEED this bottle!!!
