La Surprise

A very, very pretty and well made floral fragrance. I can tell how exquisitely this has been blended, yet I can pick out many of the individual notes. The peach, rhubarb, and juicy bergamot open it up, but underneath you can smell the freesia and the rose. This is a more feminine scent overall, but it would be quite versatile for day or night: it's also not so overwhelmingly floral you would gag on it.

I don't know how to describe it but it's got an addictive quality to it and is sultry. Kind of reminds me of the vibes Athalia PDM gives but completely different in its scent profile. Love it for date nights.

Something doesn't work for me with this one. The common denominator in many scents I struggle with is the fantasy "solar notes", particularly in combination with cardamom. It translates into a chemical mess on my skin and reminds me of bug spray. However, it's not without good character, and it eventually all comes together, and the chemical smell recedes, becoming a bit creamy, but all in all, not for me. It's definitely worth a try though, as it is a well constructed fragrance, and in this instance, I believe it's truly a skin chemistry thing. I like it, but just barely. PS - I can not see the connection between the fragrance and the Fragonard painting. This doesn't strike me as Rococo in the least! If anything, I would expect something sweet and floral as a better representative of this era.

Starts out with peach and a somewhat spicy accord. Very unisex a guy can easily pull this off. There’s a note here which I’m not familiar with which is the solar note. If the sun had a scent I’m sure this would be it. I tried the scent in an air conditioned room and the silage was non existent. In the other rooms (with no air conditioning) the scent trailed nicely. The scent reminds me of the 1800’s photographs of people at the beach. This scent would be perfect on a very hot summer day picnic. Great scent I just wish it was slightly stronger.

This is a big, bright freesia bomb on me! It's also musky (clean, white musk) and a bit green, with very little sweetness. I can't say I detect any peach and the cardamom seems quite shy. Performance is very good, with strong projection and lasting power. I feel like I need to revisit this in a couple of months.

To me this smells just like Fruit Tingles! (Not sure if this are available outside Australia?) Sweet and fizzy but not overpowering. Won't buy a bottle but I'll use the rest of my sample.

A piece of art, not linear. Fun, happy, and it is link a painting in fact... A garden party picnic with peach trees. Fruity and floral, for all ages and more for spring and summer. 7/10

Screechingly clean floral scent. Smells like I've just powdered a baby's bum. Nothing terrible about it, but not for me.

Boring shampoo like smell. This is not a perfume, this is a scam! It hardly costs more than 20 cents to produce.

MDCI is my favorite perfume house, this is my favorite painting of all time, and all the described fragrance notes are ones that I simply adore. I have been eagerly awaiting this release for quite some time. The results are...well..just plain bland. Unoffensive. Artfully balanced and blended to a very literal fault. Seemingly not at all inspired by the painting. Feels like they rushed this so they could release it with the rest of the painting-inspired line. I was severely disappointed and realized 1.5 days later that I was still sulking before I snapped myself out of it. I do so hope they pull this back and reformulate it. Glad I sampled in time to tell my S.O. not to buy it for me as a present after all.

Oh, this is exquisite! Clean fruity-floral with a spicy twist. Allure Chanel comes to mind due to the clean-soapy feel of this one but then I also feel much more going on... It's true that you can smell all the notes in one moment or another yet not one stands out or takes over. Light rosy wafts, then peach and fresia, oh, a violet shows up too! It's like a dance of all fruit and flowers involved. The solar note gives me this warm Sunflower Elizabeth Arden vibe even though they hardly have anything in common apart from this. I think the patchouli in the base keeps it form getting too sweet or sour as many fruity florals tend to develop when they lack a "back bone". Full bottle worthy in my book.

Strongest heart note for me was the rose (sweet not green, so turkish?) with prominent patchouli backing. Then dries down into musky woody santal situation. I liked this, but didn't really see the value for me at this price, given I have a decent number already of rose patchouli frags. Incidentally, I liked this a lot better than the other new MDCI, L'Aimee, which was not to my liking (dry bitter opening transitioning to austere musky woody powdery floral).

This is gorgeous! Watery, fresh, green flower Bouquet with some peachy sweetness. In the drydown a bit of spiciness comes up so it really is more than just a fresh out of the shower scent but elaborate floral.

A peach-patchouli with water and linear, powdery floral. banal. not interesting.
