L’Aimée

This is the most beautiful powdery sweet floral woody scent. It's such a good balance of notes and accords. They all exist in harmony and none of them are falling over each other or overpowering each other or shouting at you. It's like a much more graceful and elegant narciso poudre which I also love but is a little sharp and rough around the edges if that makes any sense at all. I could see this being a signature scent for me. Time will tell. This is miles above most other perfumes I've tried. I really love it. UPDATE (10.14.21): So I've had this fragrance for 4 months now, and I still love this just as much if not more. Though I have other perfumes I love, this is easily my favorite. It's very rare that I don't sniff this and smile. I've loved it day and night in Spring, Summer, Fall, and I'm sure I'll still love it in Winter. I compared it to narciso poudre before, and I still think that they're both extremely powdery, but Narciso is more vanilla/tonka focused and L'Aimee is much more complex. And I hate to say it, but Narcisco's powderiness smells much lower quality now that I've smelled L'Aimee. There are so many notes that I can't really distinguish them all. This isn't a bad thing. The end result isn't just powdery+white florals+woody+etc; it's its own scent. If some fragrances are fruit salads, this one is a smoothie. Though predominately I can pick up most strongly powderiness and the vibes white florals and woodiness, there is a bit of acidity to the opening (first few minutes), coolness to the opening and initial dry down (first 1-2hours) and slight warmth to the later stage dry down (the remaining 7-12 hours, i've gone to bed and still smelled it on myself in the morning.) Great longevity and I can get a good scent bubble with it. It's not going to fill a room, put will likely be able to smell you as you walk by. Though I'm sure nothing can be universally loved, I don't imagine anyone would find this an offensive fragrance. I glad I have this one.

The painting explains it all - the soft clean white simple dress of cotton or muslin, the flowers in her hand, the green of the ribbons. It smells like that, plus some kind of soap or simple orange blossom perfume this person may have used. I'm instantly transported to that 18C Classical era - I don't know what about this scent does this but it does it every time. I love it, and I bought a full bottle a year after I first wrote this review. I get a very soft and plush (not luxurious, but more relaxed) feel from this and I'm loving it during the last snowy days. It's sunshin-y (but not tropical), it's sweet (but not gourmand), floral (but not overtly feminine or sensual), just very kind, gentle and happy. You do get that enveloping, soft, kind feeling that kinda feels motherly which I'm sure is from the painting as well. I think we all need a bit of that right now... Update: Some of the perfumes listed in "this perfume reminds me of" - NO, IT DOES NOT SMELL LIKE TF NEROLI PORTOFINO. Yes, there is orange blossom, some kind of orange flower in both, but they are in no way even the same type of perfume. I will never describe TF NP as cozy or gentle. I wonder if people actually smell the perfumes before they list perfumes in that section... ugh.

L'Aimee is elegant, classical, and very French. Evocative of the portrait that inspired it, L'Aimee is a beautiful olfactory portrait of France's golden age of perfumery: perfectly in key, with each of its many notes playing their parts as if from a baroque melody. It's difficult to describe this gem simply by breaking down the notes, rather it is a composition of delicate harmonies. It leans strongly feminine and to a younger or less experienced nose, it may be old-fashioned or too mature. However, it is only old-fashioned in the way the portrait on the bottle is old-fashioned--meaning "familiar" and "timeless" are better adjectives. It is a "love" for me, and a jewel for lovers of classic French perfume. While it is obviously appropriate for a summer day in the bucolic French countryside, it strikes me as versatile year around. Good performance and longevity, though it is not a sillage monster.

[Second Review] I've used my sample over 8 months now and have formed a good impression of this scent. A little goes a long way, so you do not need to overspray. I'm not saying this is a 'sillage' monster, just that it's high quality and carries itself accordingly. This is a soft, inoffensive fragrance. i'm very happy to spend time with it and consider it FBW. It is 100% feminine and I would say more on the 'mature' side. I.e., this is not a scent you would find sitting on the shelves in Sephora. What is really fantastic here is the dry down, which is just plain relaxing. Great fragrance all around

Absolute love, the pinnacle of soapy white florals, my muse :-) It makes me feel beautiful whenever I wear it. Please do not discontinue this one, I need it forever

It's interesting that with so many notes, reviewers seem to have such different experiences. Perhaps to do with skin or weather? I've tried my sample several times over the past months -- with the list of notes I really thought I would love it. BUT, from Aug-Nov and on me it never moves past the middle notes of white florals with rose and heliotrope (one of my favorite scents). No fruits, no base notes to anchor. It's a nice sweet white floral on me, pleasant but rather more bland than i'd hoped. It reminds me of my Grandmother who is 99 and still wears scent. I might put it in a rollerball for her (arthritis prevents spray, and diminished sense of smell CAN be a little uncomfortable. She's aware of it and tried to keep it toned down...although come to think of it, she always DID believe in 'one extra spritz' before gloves went on.

Got a sample of this and just decided to wear this on a whim and it's gorgeous! Very natural, clean, and so classically pretty. The first thing I could think about when I smelled this was womanly, like I feel like a fully realized adult when I wear this, like a mature scent without feeling old. I think the portrait was portrayed quite beautifully in this scent. It has an old feel to it, due to the animalic and mossy base, that speaks back to those dated scents. It's layered quite well though with the citrus and white floral notes at the top as if to ease it into the earthier notes. like fruit to root to soil. I love it, but I don't think I can justify the price tag for a full bottle any time soon.

You're shooting a wedding and you start the day by walking into the bridal party's hotel room to get shots of the ladies getting ready, and as the door opens, you're greeted by a feminine bomb, a billowing cloud of fruity hairsprays and floral perfumes teething with excitement. For a brief moment, you could swear that roses flooded the floor, that the wedding dress itself was made out of white flowers, that the bridesmaids were feeding you grapes and berries and.. Snap out of it! You're here for the job! L’Aimée by MDCI Parfums.

Please don’t ban me from Frangratica; but there is something about this that reminds me of White Diamonds. This is far better and more complex. It’s a clean, more mature floral. I imagine it would be suitable for year-round wear.

one of the better florals i’ve smelled! much more sophisticated and complex than some others. the painting is fitting. it may not be for me but it is a pretty fragrance.

White soap. Nothing offensive but not exciting or interesting enough to make me want to purchase a bottle. I could see this being a nice bedtime scent, as it’s clean and soft. I was expecting to love this based on the notes but it is just ok. Maybe it’s the lily of the valley? That note has a way of hijacking and overpowering other scents to my nose.

Smells like the girl in the picture honestly, flowery light and quite vintage. The orange and white florals are really good ! slightly powdery as well. Love the aesthetic of the bottle (this is what got me into buying a sample) (I love beautiful perfumes)

The combination of styrax with castorium and sweet vanilla always makes me feel sick - then mix that with clean white florals (which I usually love) and citruses, then you’ve got yourself a rancid stomach-acid blend. There’s a haunting of JOOP! in the background which I can’t stand.

Being a white floral lover I would have to deny this is a predominately white floral perfume . I find it woodier and spicier which is not to my liking . Not even worthy of trying on my skin .

All I smell is baby powder I fear.

I've revisited my L'Aimee decant two days ago and I am wearing it out today. It flipped it's essence entirely since the moment I've tried it in the summer and set it aside. It used to be hyper floral with peachy opening strongly leaning towards Kilian's fruity openings and now it's more woody and may I say powdery on my skin. It's very interesting blend because I didn't recognize the scent at all two days ago. There was zero similarity to how it opens in the summer versus current cold rainy days. I got soft vetiver and cedar straight from the opening and they are like a thin string on which other accords are hanging on. Little cassis, little orange water, raspberries, benzoin, and lots of orris and tonka bean. The fragrance shifts it's tune quite drastically from the top to the dry down. It's juicy and sparkly in the beginning growing to more sophisticated french classic powdery territory (veeery elegant may I say) and then as hours progress you are left with creamy tonka and amber on the skin and clothes. I wasn't rocked by this fragrance in the summer but now I'm super happy to have 20ml of it to last me through the winter. Absolutely incredible! Longevity 8h+, sillage +/-90cm off the body, lingers well in the air. Little L'Aimee is a prodigy release :)

With L’Aimée, MDCI presents a fragrance that effortlessly embodies the mature and gentle nature of womanliness. Instead, it privileges simplicity, nature, and classicality. In the same way that the elements of the painting all work together to create a pleasant composition, all the notes here work with each other to create a cohesive work, where no note is one too many and all operate together delightfully. Despite its femenine character, this is a fragrance for anyone who wants to evoke a feeling of carefree yet mature womanhood. Because of this, I find it suits the 26+ age range, once the classical and natural can be embraced once more after the folly and nimiety of early adulthood.

Just tried sample of this & it's so painfully dry & astringent. I do agree with the prior review that it's very cohesive composition & notes don't separate much, altho I do get mega tonka/coumarin & orris, and to me the austere bulgarian rose is most prominent floral.

Smells very much like Houbigant Iris with more soft soapy white floral touch.
