Vepres Siciliennes

A very delicate, very gentle fruity-floral with a strong sense of surprise. Compared with the way fragrances like Émerveilles or Bleu Satin are handled, its lines feel finer and cleaner; the florals and fruits are blended exceptionally well. The whole scent is harmonious and cohesive, with no unstable notes darting up and down. It opens with a crisp, verdant apple accord—juicy, with a watery sweet-and-sour sheen. Then osmanthus, magnolia, and orange blossom slowly unfurl. The interplay of fruit and flowers feels effortless and natural, like a young Italian girl in her youth: fair-skinned, cheeks softly flushed, clean and radiant. In the drydown, it leans slightly toward a soft “fruity yogurt” creaminess, while a faint shadow of incense slips in, giving the sweetness a sense of closure—sweet but never cloying, and in fact moreish. What’s interesting is that the story’s undertone seems darker than this picture suggests, yet the texture of the scent remains innocent and unpretentious—like an ordinary, clean-hearted girl swept into political strife, still holding onto the lightness and vitality of her peers, simply carried along by the tide of the times. Overall: a nuanced, full-bodied fruity-floral brimming with youthful energy—airy, never greasy, and never overly sweet.

This fragrance is beautiful. When I saw heliotrope, I was skeptical but this one is different and I'm so glad that I gave it a chance. The heliotrope is really beautiful and creamy! Vepres Siciliennes is complex and well balanced. It evolves so much within the first couple of hours but certain notes remain throughout. Everything about this is beautiful, including the bottle!!! I cannot stop smelling myself! This is just gorgeous and I have never owned anything like it. If you think you don't enjoy heliotrope, this one will change your mind. Hefty price tag but absolutely worth it, the quality is outstanding.

It is a very beautiful, pleasant and welcoming scent! I loved it right away when I opened the box. I can’t believe that it has so many notes listed here (so many different fruits!) I prefer not to read any reviews or most of the notes, instead of trying a small sample and write my own sensations. I’m definitely curious to try out more scents from this brand.

Oh such a lovely fragrance! I blind bought this ONLINE. It was so so worth it. I smell flowers from a beautiful garden. It's not boring for me at all. My right kind of tempo. Its mindboggling. A must have. Don't sleep on this.

Pretty, warm, cozy, complex, but one word describes it best: rich. I have no idea what I am smelling, it just melds with my skin, and somersaults-the scent of the composition takes little voyages through cardomom and flower oil touched sweet citruses, toasted sweetness with a hint of green (coconut and plum smelling perfumier than ever stirred into a torpedo with white flowers)...There is an serious sepia warmth, reserved amber and a touch of melted caramel. Vepres Siciliennes is a strong composition that doesn't become too strong on my skin. It lasts and lasts, and unfolds and unfolds....It's great, and worthy of wearing to a rebellion-strong composure and self-contained beauty...certainly as grand as the painting which inspired it. For me-wearable, and nice, but complexity doesn't mean the smell excites me-the caramel is a bit irritating for me too-and the opening didn't wow me like Kterhark-BUT! Vepres Siciliennes IS a fragrant work of art perfect for somebody's skin!

A unique combination of flowers and fruits, especially peach and magnolia and rose. The scent is very long lasting and very thick. One spray is enough to smell good for at least eight hours. Most of the perfumes of this brand have a high concentration and the amount of spraying may have the opposite result. I can't say enough about the beauty of the bottle. It gives a wonderful effect to its surroundings.

This smells exactly like your mother's 1995 bowl of teal-and-purple potpourri sitting on the living room end table in that fake-antique bronze bowl. Does it smell bad? Depends - do you like the smell of potpourri?

A green white floral with a hint a citrus. The notes balance each other out well and nothing is overpowered. The dry down focuses on sweeter elements such as the caramel mixed with the cloves. It’s a unique fragrance - I don’t know if I like it but I’m also not sure if I dislike it. I would say this wouldn’t be a safe blind buy, definitely one you have to experience for yourself prior.

The opening is very pretty but it dries down to green rose shampoo with oakmoss. The ingredients feel natural and high quality, but the end result feels generic. Not for me.

It's nice but too much fruit sweet and sourness for me, a bit headache inducing. Great quality though. Can see this being really lovely for lots of people.

Vepres Siciliennes is a deep floral, amber scent with amped up sweetness. It’s the kind of scent where I have difficulty pulling out and identifying individual notes. It also comes with a hefty price tag, meaning I need to be head over heels in love to justify a purchase. I agree with another reviewer who mentioned potpourri; Vepres Siciliennes does not feel sophisticated or unique to my nose. Because of the underlying sweet notes—that also feel sticky—this is an easy pass for me.

MDCI is my favorite house and I've wanted to go through and start posting reviews of the fragrances. This one is easily my least favorite alongside rose de siwa. If you blind bought Tocade by Rochas because of Luca Turin and hated it--don't buy this! It has that same chemical runoff smell for the first 3 or 4 hours of the fragrance. Scent: 0/10 Overall: 0/10

This one did not work for me at all- overbearingly spicy, too much amber or caramel- all in all, it made me feel a little nauseous- I saw lots of floral notes listed, but smelled none of them!

Vepres Siciliennes MDCI Parfums (Few Visit, first record on August 17, 2024) Note of Vepres Siciliennes seems to be an illusion as it use a lot of notes. However, to my nose, this is just Magnolia scent that linger on and on. Structural wise, this is Chypre-Fruity as it has soft moss ambient Coconut Aldehyde in-base, warm spicy from clove present litely reminds me of older chypre fragrance which show up prominent when Vapres Siciliennes reach last of life. However, main ambient and star of the show is unmistakably Magnolia. Soft, Lite and Violety. Soft creamy, waxy and powdery. It smell like Insolence but in the floral dominant and airy MDCI accord. Pretty, little playful and (not overly) youthful. I think Vepres Siciliannes could make a perfect Magnolia fragrance. For those who love a classic Soft powdery, waxy - bright and green Magnolia fragrance. It just well-round Magnolia. Audience who love "Rose Cherie by Guerlain" might have tendency to like this. I think this is beautiful crafted and delicate perfume. The fragrance reach last of life in 4 hours and leave soft sweet coconut, musk and moss. Not really tropical but this is classic reinterpretation using new way material. I assume Jeanne-Marie Faugier recreate certain vintage fragrance here. with Vepres Siciliennes as previous fragrance might be no longer in production. I like it, not a dumb reach for me. It is kind of certain vibe, Whimsical (?), might be. ===== Vepres Siciliennes MDCI Parfums (USD 120, BNIB 75 ml.(?)) Pre blind-buy record. I might buy solely this due to price factor and admiration of MDCI. "Oriental Fruity-Floral Chypre"!? Is this even real!!?! You got spicy note like Cardamom and Clove, you got beautiful floral heart. And peach with Osmanthus must so strong and Plum and sweet caramel note?!? Will this contain Aldehyde. I have no idea now. My best bet would be "Hermetic by Kemi" but more beautiful - no idea, no idea. Let's wait and see.

A quirky little composition, MDCI Parfums Vêpres Siciliennes is classified by the house as a green fruity chypre but actually rolls just about everything up to and including the kitchen sink together to produce a somewhat confusing and intergeneric perfume in defiance of all of the standard categories. I certainly would never have guessed that this is a chypre, not even in the sense meant by the latest crop, the so-called "modern chypres". Maybe this is the next generation? Neither oak moss nor patchouli???? Well, oak moss is listed among the notes for this creation, but it really is undetectable to my nose amidst all of the fruit, the sweets (especially caramel), and the coconut. Hardly anyone else seems to smell the coconut in this creation, but to me it is quite marked--to the point almost of imparting somewhat a tropical vibe. Fruity coconut. A lot of sweetness, not so much light. I recommend this perfume for testing by people who like sweet and fruity perfumes, and especially coconut and caramel notes.

Vepres Siciliennes opens with mixed fresh fruits, creating a pink smelling, tangy-sweet, girly aura. Not my usual style, but I find myself really liking this stage. There's a faint faint touch of spice (cardamom?), but it fades after the opening. A waxy white floral takes over, and the tangy fruit is replaced by a muted version, with a backdrop of musky sweetness. The scent is very soft, with low projection. Overall, it becomes a mish-mash of floral and fruity, like the smell of shampoo in someone's hair or a 90's waxy fruity floral perfume. Boring.

Got this in a trade &... I love it! Also just a note, this is not my first floral or traditionally fem perfume. This is pretty, juicy, sweet, & YUMMY... I was worried the osmanthus & tuberose were going to dominate but everything is blended together... it's more fruity than anything without being cloying, soft enough to be refined/elegant without any harsh edges or "parts" that I dislike overall a well rounded perfume... two thumbs up! 3 sprays medium projection radiating within an arms length

My first impression of this fragrance was "SOAP!". Thankfully it melts into something much more complex on the skin. White, green freshness. Magnolia, Heliotrope, Rose. On dry-down, it becomes sugary and bitter, woody, with a soft spiciness. It ends in a quiet perfection of vanilla and musk. It makes me think of a young woman with freckles in a strappy sundress, on a candlelit terrace at twilight. It says, 'I'm nice", friendly, simple and politely sweet.

A polite, but generic-smelling fruity floral that reads more as a white floral than anything. Relative sheer citrus notes hover above an expected soft vanilla base, and there’s a soapy feel that builds on the freshness. It’s a tad spicy and warm at first, but then it strikes a pleasing balance between fresh and comforting. Generic and dated-smelling, it’s pretty much dead after about 20 minutes.

What I can't get past if the name of this perfume. "Vepres Siciliennes" is the name of the rebellion against the French rulers of Sicily 1282. At the sound of the Vesper bells on Easter Monday, March 30th 1282, the population of Sicily (aided and abetted by the King of Aragon) rose up against the French and massacred them all. I just find it very strange that anyone would a perfume after that.

Soapy. Honeysuckle. Violet. Vintage. Touch of almond but not enough to be annoying (not a fan of almond.) As it dries down I get some sweetness, honey, again a bit of almond. I like the way this is drying down with the spicy over sweet florals-- that Battito d'Ali is coming out. It's becoming very classy sexy and lovely, definitely a night perfume. Might be some tuberose in there too.

Now this one is very nice, peaches & osmanthus with slightly dusty effect and some citrus, no cloying caramel or caramel in general which i dislike but something floral, tiny fruitti and powdery captivation. I can sense the magnolia, the slight orange, and the plums. This one is balanced and very good to try.

This is simple but lovely: a peachy and jasminey blend, mostly peach. I find that I get tired of it the more I smell it, but that's a common problem for me. It smells like a body wash to me, and body washes aren't usually complex enough to keep my attention.
