Cap Camarat

This is just one of those fragrances you need to try because the notes just do not get there. I was describing it to a friend recently: "You know when the sun goes down while the air is hot, and as the light turns to amber everything slows down?" That is what this fragrance reminds me of. The florals, most notably ylang-ylang and a gorgeous jasmine are yellowy, thick and mature, set against a dusky and gloriously unsweetened vanilla. It feels like most of the vanillas I get my nose on these days are sweetly inseparable from tonka bean and ubiquitous benzoin, and there is no tonka and almost no benzoin in this. The vanilla is almost saline; a nod toward littoral waters of a beautiful coastal region. It reminds me of the vanilla note in Vanilla Caviar by BDK, but is much more pleasant and less jarring here. There is some musk, labdanum and sandalwood in the base but they are very much in the background, and the main vista to take in here is the yellow florals and sunset vanilla. The view is astonishingly beautiful. I imagine the headland snaking off across the horizon, characterised by the fingerlike edifice of the old lighthouse at its end, almost black against the sky. The tendrils of land become thicker as the lumps and bumps of small, scrubby hills grow in stature inland. In the far distance, the pink and lavender heavens mischievously hide the line where the sea and sky meet. The sun descended out of view half an hour ago but its tinges are still painting the blue with rosy pinks and pale oranges that seem to darken right as you look at them. The air is lazy and warm, alive with insects and carrying the salt of the marine layer and the low siren call of the flower bushes all around. It is also pregnant with the scent of the coastal pines and olive trees nearby adding a filmy aromatic texture that I can taste. I lick my lips remembering you. I can taste the salt on my lips and feel it - and the lingering kiss of the sun - stiffen my forehead as I make a careful, unhurried way down the hill toward the villa. A thicket of apple trees appears either side of the path and I furtively pocket one lying coquettishly in my path to eat later after dinner. There is a restaurant at the bottom of the hill that serves a local bouliabasse of some repute and I think I can already smell the toasted fresh bread and stringent garlic as it comes into view. TLDR- Amazing and complex warm weather scent for anyone. Summer in a bottle, made to shine with warmth. If you’ve been looking for a vanilla forward spring/summer fragrance that is interesting and almost coconutty but not like tanning lotion, try this. Longer version- This started as a like, but is now a love. When I first tried it I thought it was nice but so subtle I wasn’t sure it was worth the cost. I sprayed it the moment I got it, smelled the coconut and some fruit, and thought it was nice, but not amazing. Didn’t last long on my wrist. Then I tried it out before bed one night on my pulse points and it full-on bloomed overnight! It is gorgeous and complex. Almost a coconut-ish vanilla, and fruity without being very sweet. Sweet, but not quite gourmand, imho. Light floral Ylang Ylang and jasmine come out more after a few minutes. The spicy pepper almost gives the effect of an incense, and the base notes add to the complexity and lingering effect. There’s just a hint of smooth patchouli, but just enough to make it more interesting. (I generally don’t love patchouli, so that worried me, but nicely done and very slight here. A faint whisper.) The vanilla along with the light floral, amber, musk, and sandalwood linger on and dominate through the dry down, and I could still smell it on the sheets two days later. I tried it during the day when we had a few warm ones and it is glorious. Maybe it needs more warmth really activate, but it is addictive once it does. While it has coconut-like vanilla notes to me, it is not like sunscreen or suntan lotion, nor is it like some of the body sprays out there because of its complexity and longevity. I would not consider this a room-filler as far as projection, but it is noticeable to people within a few feet, and it lasts through the day on skin, overnight plus on fabric. I think it is office safe, when sprayed reasonably, because none of the notes dominate or could be considered offensive or overwhelming. As for age- I’m loving this in my 40’s, and I think this is great for any age. Not so sweet or young that a mature person can’t rock it, but I can see more youthful people enjoying it too. I think it is unisex in that when I as a female wear it I feel like it was made for me, but I could see any gender feeling the same way wearing this one. Memo is difficult to sample where I am located, so this had to be a blind buy. I initially purchased the small bottle just in case, but went back for the bigger one when I saw a sale, as this is going to be a warm weather staple for the foreseeable future. Again- I encourage trying it warm... that’s when it seems to really shine.

Love Cap Camarat! To me, it smells like an airy, buttery, par-baked cheesecake crust with an extra splash of vanilla. Sorry if you’re not a baker, but that warmth a crust has after a quick dip in a hot oven is brought to life through scent. I know other reviewers associate that feeling with sun-warmed skin or the beach, but for the first two hours my nose gets nothing but a decadent graham cracker crust, minus the cinnamon, layered with creamy vanilla. “But I thought this was supposed to be a summer gourmand.” Oh, it is, and that’s what makes it so impressive. While I’m over here talking about rich desserts, the fragrance never actually feels heavy. Everything exists within this remarkable airiness. I don’t get an aquatic scent at all. Instead, it reminds me of the dense, humid air brushing against you as you walk along the coastline on a breezy day, except that air somehow carries the aroma of warm vanilla cheesecake crust. Performance doesn’t blow me away, but it also doesn’t leave me with much to complain about. This never really falls into skin scent territory early on, but it’s not the kind of fragrance that fills a room either. Expect about an arm’s-length scent bubble for the first four to five hours before it settles closer to the skin, eventually fading after around seven to eight hours of wear. This does lean feminine, but I think that’s more because women have traditionally worn fragrances in this style, not because the scent itself inherently feels feminine. It lacks the bold cake, boozy vanilla, or floral sweetness that often pushes a fragrance firmly in that direction. You probably won’t run into many men wearing Cap Camarat, but I also don’t think anyone would find it out of place if you did. If you’re a guy who enjoys richer, more traditionally masculine vanilla fragrances for winter date nights but finds them too heavy once the weather warms up, Cap Camarat is absolutely worth considering as a playful date-night fragrance from mid-spring through early fall. The quality is exceptional. It’s beautifully blended, and the way it delivers this gourmand profile without ever becoming dense or suffocating in warm weather is genuinely impressive.

I love this soo much! I chose to grab the "Cap Camarat x Olimpia Zagnoli | Memo Paris" bottle because I loved the design, but this was an instant love and immediate for me. "Cap Camarat | Memo Paris" opens with the refreshing, sweet, fruity notes and it’s an eye rolling moment for me. Absolutely divine! As it dries down, the fruity notes remain but they mix with the rest of the scent. Cap Camarat is an escape to a beautiful, deserted, tropical island. You’ve emerged from the crystal blue sea, you’re wearing a high end sunscreen, your skin slightly salty from the ocean. The sun warms your skin, mixing the two scents together. Powdery white sand between your toes, you’re eating a refreshingly sweet mix of watery fruits out of a coconut shell. This is such a relaxing, addictive, comforting and uplifting scent that cocoons you in the most beautiful, blissful, carefree scent bubble. This is a “your summer skin but better” scent! also performs well, lasting around 6+ hours on me. I love this category of scents for summer, but this is my absolute favourite one. "Sunkissed Goddess | Kilian" was my favourite, and while I still really love it (more the opening, rather than the dry down) this has dropkicked that one off its top place! I love the entire process of this scent. It’s absolutely stunning! I could drown myself in it.

I disagree with some of the reviews that call this perfume creamy or gourmand. About me: I'm relatively new to niche perfumery but I've been wearing fragrances since my tennage years (25+ years ago!) I dislike currently fashionable gourmand scents and clean scents, and I found out that I have a problem with modern white musks, which turn sharp and synthetic to my nose after a couple of hours. With this one, it was love at first sniff. I have an old bottle of Sun by Jil Sander that I don't spray very often because while I enjoy the smell of it, my nose gets a bit tired with the sunscreen notes. I see a similarity between Sun and Cap Camarat, but Cap Camarat is much drier and, to me, more pleasant. There's a touch of sweetness thanks to the vanilla but it's never too sweet, sunscreeny or creamy. People have talked about sweet almonds or fruit notes: I don't really get these notes myself. Overly fruity perfumes usually make me feel a bit nauseous after a while -- I get none of that with Cap Camarat. I think the reason why most people call it a summer fragrance (although there seems to be some debate about that) is because it makes you feel like you're wearing a soft vanilla perfume on the seaside. There's that splash of salty water in there. Feels like sailing in the sun. I love it.

This is an absolutely beautiful summer vanilla floral. The dry down reminds me so much of Sand and Skin by Floraïku, but with a lighter, airier feel. Sand and Skin is warm and creamy from start to finish. The ylang, vanilla and benzoin are front and center the entire wear, giving it that sun-warmed skin effect. Cap Camarat, on the other hand, opens with juicy fruit and an aquatic vanilla that actually gives me subtle Juliette Has a Gun Vanilla Vibes energy. As it develops, though, it slowly warms and transforms into a breezier version of Sand and Skin while still keeping that sophisticated sunshine feeling that I love. I think the dry downs are very similar, and honestly, they’re a little redundant to own both. But I’m completely obsessed with this elevated, non-sunscreeny beach scent profile, so I happily own both. They’re easily two of my favorite perfumes in my collection.

What really surprised me about this one is how it wears throughout the day. I kept catching little whiffs of it, and every time I did, I liked it more. It doesn’t smell like a typical perfume to me, it’s more like I put on a really high-end lotion and then sat in the sun at the beach. Warm, slightly sweet, a little woody, and just really comforting. Up close, I do get some patchouli, which I don’t always love, but in the air it turns into this soft, addictive cloud that I can’t stop smelling. It’s subtle but still present on me for hours. This feels very different from most perfumes I’ve tried...definitely unique. I wouldn’t call it a safe blind buy unless you know you enjoy patchouli and yellow florals.

I see people comparing to sand and skin and I do agree, it has elements of that. However, I find this to be much much more wearable. It's creamier and fresher, I find sand and skin to be too salty, whereas Cap Camarat has that beautiful sandalwood on the dry down that grounds it more into a woody base. I enjoy the whole journey with this fragrance, it starts out sweet and fresh but creamy, as it dries down over a couple of hours the freshness turns to a gorgeous vanilla and sandalwood, really beautiful! It is more subtle but then I want to see how it wears on my skin in the summer, I imagine this will really radiate when in the sun! Love this!!

I'm shocked nobody's made the connection to this & Brompton immortals Extrait. I'm doing a side by side comparison & man, they're so similar. This has a bit more fluff to it than Brompton. Brompton being a bit more dark & dense but in the dry-down they get really close on my skin. If Brompton added a fruity note these would be spot on! I can definitely see this being a popular release for Memo. My only complaint is I wish it lasted as long as Brompton Extrait does but it's still a great unisex fragrance with moderate projection & sillage. Not overwhelming at all. Perfectly blended. Get your nose on this one!

As a vanilla “girlie”, my first test (blind bought the 30mL) of this was not love, it was more of intrigue. I did not think I would like it at all, very different than expected...but that turned out to not be a bad thing. I came back to it for a full test drive and fell in love. It evolves into a gorgeous, warm scent that is not sweet (my gourmand-tuned nose had to learn a new trick) yet cozy on my skin and it projects. It’s become one of my top summer staples and compliment getter...now have the 75mL bottle.

I've tried this for the first time today and something about it felt really nostalgic. It's just hit me that it's a lighter, more vanillic version of Ralph Lauren Safari for Women. I wore that fragrance in the 90s and loved it, but it's not something I'd go back to because of the scent associations I have...but I'd wear this happily and create new ones :) The florals are warm and the vanilla disappears quickly on my skin though, it's not a traditional vanilla in any way, shape or form.

I know what I’m taking to my next tropical vacation. This is gorgeous, soft vanilla, with some sweetness from the apple, that makes me think of what reminds me of La Danza Delle Libellule but this one is taking another turn with yang and benzoin, and watery tropical notes. I see why people would compare it to skin and sand but this is much prettier and easier to like in my opinion. The projection is soft and subtle and it’s beautiful that way. Not every perfume has to scream.

Only thing I can really agree with is the fruits and water notes with a touch of vanilla. This is something you just can’t keep from smelling over and over again. It reminds me of something from years ago but I can’t put my thumb to it. Marvelous nonethelss. Leans more feminine than uni but I wouldn’t mind wearing this on a summer or spring evening. It reminds me of a sunset in some type of way near the coast.

Wow. Mickmedical what a fucking review. I don’t have any words because you took them right from my mouth. You got a way with words my man. English had to be your favorite subject in high school. More in the fragrance though, it’s literally and airy, blonde wood, sweet, lightly textured vanilla pastry like fragrance that doesn’t scream at you. Great release from Memo.

I don’t get why some people are disappointed and saying it’s not a safe blind buy. I find it a very pretty summer vanilla scent. It’s light, airy, floral, bit salty very pretty vanilla. Not as gourmand and heavy as some other vanillas. This is the perfect beach vanilla scent. Did I need another vanilla prrfumr?! Probably not. Do I love it?! Absolutely!

I have gotten a couple samples of this and it smells amazing. It smells like your eating a vanilla ice cream on the beach as everyone says. I don't know if it is just my skin or not but for me it lasted about 15 hours on my hand. This is not something I would want to smell like but I would like to smell it on a woman.

I personally really love this fragrance and I dont really get the hate on it. I dont find it subtle and boring like some people say. I find it to be a pretty unique warm vanilla scent yet aquatic and maybe a little salty. For me it's literally how i would describe a hot summer beach with vanilla iceacream :)

beautiful addition in the right time, where the summer is here and the weather is sunny, a lovely vanilla opening which is light and gentle, but wait for it the Dry down is amaaaazing..im lucky found the limited edition (artistic) and here we go Over All 8.5/10

This was love at first sniff. I put it on a tester strip and immediately put it on my skin. It's so fresh and beachy. I could not stop smelling myself. This has to be the ultimate summer scent. If Ellis Brooklyn's Sand had a rich aunty, this would be her.

My fav perfume is sand and skin by Floraiku, it def has the same vibe, but I do think this one is softer en somehow sweeter. I do like it a lot, but need to test it a bit longer to see if it gets the same love as Sand&Skin

This is nice in cooler weather! But i really don ́t know what i am smelling here..... Perhaps it is the result of the incomplete Amouage Guidance. Way more heavier than i expected.

This is nothing like Vanilla Powder. VP has a nasty synthetic musk that takes over. This does not. Much closer to Sand + Skin but with a little added ylang and vanilla.

Really lingering and sophisticated

Cap Camarat is a well-executed fragrance, no question about it,but it ultimately doesn’t align with what I look for in a scent. From the opening, you’re met with a fresh, marine leaning profile. There’s a salty, airy quality combined with soft aromatics and a light floral touch that gives it a clean, coastal feel. It’s smooth and refined, never harsh or overly synthetic. As it develops, it stays consistent. The freshness remains at the forefront, supported by clean woods and a subtle warmth in the background. It’s easy to wear and very pleasant, especially in warm weather. That said, while I can appreciate the quality and composition, it doesn’t quite connect with me. I tend to gravitate toward fragrances that have a bit more texture, warmth, or something that pulls me back in throughout the day. This one leans more into being light, airy, and fresh without that deeper, more engaging quality I personally enjoy. There’s nothing wrong with it, in fact, it’s very well done. It’s just a reminder that sometimes a fragrance can be objectively good but not necessarily the right fit for your taste. If you enjoy clean, marine style fragrances with a smooth and refined edge, this is definitely worth trying. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 6/10

I picked up a sample largely because of it's comparison to Sand and Skin by Floraiku, and the two echo one another. Sand and Skin glows. It's warm, creamy, and softly resinous. It's sun‐toasted skin lingering on the beach half an hour past golden hour. In contrast, this is a seaside holiday. It's a brighter, airier, and more floral, with a breezy, aquatic vanilla. One is heat on skin; the other is atmosphere.

Sooo pleasant, but I don’t even have a concept of how to present this one, no picture in my head, no association, can’t figure out the notes.. Little sweet little creamy, basic but I don’t know any similar scent. I have to come back to this! edit: hair products, spf, beach day

Smells exactly as hollister stores smelled back in the day.

I find this fragrance nothing like the description. The marketing suggests this is a scent designed for warm weather but instead Cap Camarat is a powdery heavy fragrance with just hints of fruit but lots of musk. It has a dense almost masculine-leaning musky woodiness that makes it feel better suited for cooler months. It reminds me of Wind Flowers by Creed or Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel. I do like it, but I would reach for in it in the fall.

They really meant it when they said watery notes 😭 I wanted to love this so much. Nevermind. A slightly sweet citrusy bottle of water.

At first sniff I thought I would like this perfume as a vanilla lover, but 15 minutes later it turned fruity-aquatic-creamy on my skin and reminded me of my paternal grandma. I checked the notes and sniffed my hand again and again to understand which note smells “nostalgic” and “old lady-like” to me but can’t really put my finger on it. Unfortunately I had to wipe my hand off to get rid of the smell :(

Gives the excitment kf summer sunny holiday. This smells like high-end sun screen. At the first sniff, it reminded me of Beach Walk from MM.

First impression: Exotic opening which is kinda nice. Felt musky to me for the first minutes. I don’t know but, about the notes I may like to add a clear sweet almond note. The fragrance feels so dreamy, creamy vanilla that is moderately sweet. But is it for summer? I’m not sure definitely not for high heat but I do get the vibes from that. And about the aquatic & fruity accords I’m not getting much of that. And other thing.. It reminded me a lot of skin oil from Loccitane the sweet almond ones, they’re not the same but if you have tried both of them you will get what I mean. Overall. I think it’s a wonderful fragrance I got a decant and I’m having fun with it. I may only consider buying if it’s like 40% less than what it costs now. And for the performance it sits close around you but got some nice gentle longevity for ~8 hours. I will update this comment if there’s something I want to add.

For anyone who is interested....I just bought this perfume on Fragrancebuy.ca for $219.95 cad for the 75ml PLUS they have their annual Eater Egg Hunt for the weekend so further savings available if there is another perfume you want that is pricier. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t see this deal until after I had already ordered at Holt Renfrew for the regular price of $410.00!! I couldn’t resist this deal though so ordered again... I’ll just send the Holts back when it arrives! Hope this helps someone else save some dollars! PS- just google the Easter Egg Hunt code on Reddit to save time.

To me this is an addictive smell...it's sweet, but not too sweet, definitely not gourmand. I get the woody vanilla and then a creamy sandalwood. Longevity wise is great, when I first tried it, I sprayed it on my wrist in the afternoon and I could still feel it the next morning, after having showered! I feel that it projects for 3-4 hours, then it becomes a closer smell, that you feel when you move and then a skin scent, with a faint sweetness that is just amazing. It's marketed more of a summer fragrance and I get why, but it's totally wearable throughout the year.

HEADACHE TRIGGER....I don't know what is in this Cap Camarat, but EVERYTIME I put this on my skin, I get a major headache and my nostrils sting like crazy. I don't think I'm ambroxan sensitive, so I can't say if it's that for sure. Memo is my favorite house, and I don't think Cap Camarat is well-blended at all. I also feel that the high quality ingredients that the house built its reputation upon is missing from the composition as well. The dry down is ok, unfortunately I have to torture myself to even somewhat enjoy it.

Mellow sunny vanilla. Salty vanilla musk mingling with mellow fruity notes that can’t be singled out because they are very well blended. The patchouli is intricately involved but muted so it doesn’t stand out, so for me, this is a very sophisticated salty fruity vanilla musk. Gives a sea side home vibe instead of beachy vacation tourist vibes. Memo Paris has very nice complex but smooth fragrances and this seems like a very safe blind buy compared to their other fragrances.

This reminds me of something vintage but I can't exactly say what. It is clearly a knock off of an old fragrance and one that wasn't very good back then. Very disappointing and after sampling would not buy a FB let alone wear the sample. I simply do not get this fragrance at all.

This does speak to the vibrant qualities of beach, sand and sea breeze - however there is an unmistakable melancholy present as the sun starts to set. Yes its a holiday, but you are standing on the pier, staring off with a forlorn longing while you eat a vanilla ice cream cone

Got a 10ml of this straight from Memo and a 5ML of Odeon. Cap Cam is just ok while I love Odeon. I ended up scoring the new Odeon Rosebud and I am stoked to receive that but this is definitely not full bottle worthy for me.

By far one of the worst smells of my entire life. I desperately wanted to get it off my body and hair. On me it smelled like I haven’t showered in days. I can’t comprehend how this one can smell good on somebody.

Sand and Skin by Floraiku with the volume turned down: airier, watered-out, and noticeably less persistent on skin. Pleasant enough, but clearly a very softened interpretation of that original sultry profile.

opening is feminine gourmand creamy fruity cake and the drydown is sadonaso with less animalic and piss. kinda liked it but cant really tell an occasion for this.

Beautiful summer fresh and salty vanilla, very light and airy. Surprised no one mentionned how similar it is to levante from Nobile 1942
