Flam

This was a blind buy and my first from the house of Memo. I am so impressed by this scent. It starts of with straight up jasmin, and its a true jasmin, a light and airy but very much nature-like jasmin, that took me by supprise. If youre not a jasmin-fan i can understand why this would throw you off. For me, i do love jasmin: walking past jasmin out side and just get that sweet scent traveling in the wind, it makes my eyes roll. Even though, its not really what i would prefer to smell like in general - BUT - after 35-45 minutes or so the fragnance starts to settle, and turns in too this sweet (but not too sweet), warm, cosy, balsamic, a bit woody, light and airy scent that dances around you and vibrates from you, and it is SO beautiful. I LOVE a fragnance that is not in your face, its there, it lingers and it draws you in. I got complimented my first wear, and o truy thing its gourgeous. Upliftig, sensual and teasing, yet light airy and easy going, cute. I think a man could easly pull this off (after the jasmin-burst), even though i do find it a bit fem. I am going to wear this day and evening, id class it as a possible signature scent, and its probably gonna be mine from now on, due to the drydown that i absolutely adore. I dont think this gets the hype it deserevs, i have not tried others from Memo but im so in love with this scent and gonna dive in to the house.

Flam is easy to understand. And easy to appreciate. I agree with jolla - that this is not Alien. Id rather say that it has its particular sweetness, but the jasmine here is amazing. For the sake of making a point - to my nose, the drydown leans slightly towards jador infinissime (nutty creamy yellow floral with vanilla and amber ) than to alien’s specific type of synthetic jasmine on white amber. The jasmine sambac here is more like the one I can smell in Jo Malone (jasmine sambac and marigold). Also, in comparison to Alien - soft cedar is felt in the drydown, balancing the ambery sweetness and preventing it from becoming too syrupy or cloying. The cedar is like in Jaipur Bouquet Boucheron, but although it too has jasmine sambac, cashmere etc ... it is a greener fragrance altogether. So, in defense of those who find Flam too similar to Alien, I can say that it is possible that if you like one you may like the other. Flam is a lovely sweet jasmine sambac + amber + cedar and I’d love a FB of it, should further testing confirm our compatibility. I refrain from calling something dumb rich, however, Flam is the type of fragrance that one finds themselves easily reaching for, especially when they want to smell effortlessly delicious and stunning.

As a Norwegian with family from Flåm it is a bit funny to read all the reviews here comment on how it does not smell like Flåm. To me this is such a typical Norwegian scent and I love it. Norway is a country with a great variety in the seasons. Within a year you will experience rain season, flowers and green forrest as far as you can see, warm summer days and swimming, harsh winds, fresh wood and crispy leaves, snow and icy hills....the list goes on. The only things that are constant is the culture of hygge, nature and comfort. To me it makes perfect sense to blend Jasmine, which is a common plant to find in gardens and streets in Norway, with Cedar and Cashmere, which are common scents in cabins here. The vanilla and amber feels like a nice way to bring the warmth and hygge into the blend. To me, this smells like a good night with friends inside your cabin in Norway, at any season. It feels very cozy and is a pretty easy to wear scent. I get that it might not be the scent that some expected, but it is very Norwegian to me. Other than that, this perfume has a great longevity on me and it project a lot!

So, WOW and what a surprise! This Flam and Sintra. If I had to live with only 4-5 forever floral fragrances for the next 5 years, two of those fragrances would be Flam and Sintra. I was looking forward to trying this fragrance, given all the hype it receives. I purchased sizable decants of Flam, along with six other Memo-Paris fragrances. To my surprise, Flam turned out to be one of my favorite fragrances. To my nose, Flam is similar to Granada but not as pedestrian, not as screechy. There is no juxtaposition of white florals with Flam. The perfume unleashes an extremely pleasant jasmine note brightened with sage. There is evidence of bitter orange in the opening. Linear & rather singular, Flam does not develop much, which is fine. Remains jasmine forward with musky, vanilla, woody dry-down notes. Longevity is fair at 2-3 hours and silage is minimal. Flam is a safe, wearable, feminine floral fragrance that seems easy to love.

Jasmine is such a misunderstood floral. It’s meant to be a tad pungent - not a dainty, fruity, ultra feminine floral that we often imagine when we think of blooming flowers. That’s what I love most about jasmine, it’s not a “Barbie” floral, it’s a sensual, musky and confident flower that can be worn during all seasons. Whereas alien was too much of a jasmine punch, I feel like Flam is softer and more wearable. I would even go as far to say that this is an office and airport safe scent. This more so reminds me of a less sweet, warmer Donna Born in Roma with the woody floral profile. I’m surprised reviewers have not mentioned the comparison with DBIR and Flam as the notes mirror each other in a sisterly fashion. The final dry down is a warm and creamy hug of vanilla, cashmere, and distant jasmine. This should be rated much higher well into the 4/5’s. Safe buy if you love a floral woody combo and would like a more niche DBIR.

I can see the comparisons with Alien (which I love) but to me this is closer to Rouge Malachite and M. Micallef's Glamour (both of which I also love) - ie, less jasmine-dominant, and more woody/ambery in character. It does have a soft, creamy jasmine that will appeal to jasmine lovers, but on my skin the jasmine weaves in and out of the woody amber, rather than being the foundation of the experience. It opens with a beautiful peppery golden woody note, although I don't find any citrus/bergamot. The florals don't emerge for several minutes, and when they do, it is more like opening a wooden box and smelling a floral corsage sitting within, rather than a big bouquet just gathered from the plant. In time, the cashmeran note becomes apparent as a warm fluffy powdery layer enveloping the skin. Overall a harmonious experience, I would say it's unisex but leaning slightly more feminine.

Memo is one of my favorite niche houses and Flam is probably my favorite fragrance from them (close tie with Lalibella). The jasmine in here is so much more inviting than in Madurai which, after a year of trying, I can finally appreciate even though it's quite indolic. I don't get Alien at all from this. And I wore that almost exclusively for years before getting into collecting fragrances. You dint need to be a jasmine lover to appreciate Flam, bc its blended so well with the cashmeran and vanilla that it's pleasantly creamy, not screechy. Thus is definitely not blind buy safe, but certainly worth a sniff!

This gave me an instant “What’s that remind me of?” at first sniff. Within mere moments, I realized it’s Mugler’s Alien. #1 Angel fan here, but I never warmed up to Alien. I suppose Flam gives my nose what Alien was lacking BECAUSE I LOVE THIS. On my skin, it smells like Alien plus citrus, tobacco, vanilla, a pinch of powder - and a hint of Blanche Bête. Are we sure there’s no tuberose? Really lovely composition. Intoxicatingly creamy and resinous. Perfect sweetness. Warm, sumptuous, and cozy. I get a little Black Opium Le Parfum from the drydown. Favorite jasmine sambac-forward fragrance so far.

This is like a summer edition of the original Alien. It is a very light jasmine scent with a citrusy freshness, warm amber and a tiny hint of sweetness in the base. It's just lovely! I expected a much richer, deeper scent, but at the same time, Im glad I'll get to enjoy my decant during summer. I must say that Memo really mislabeled this one. I get nothing of a small Viking village in this fragrance. It is more of a jasmine overgrown wall in a small Mediterranean town with a lemon orchard behind it. Way overpriced as the performance is not great.

I don't know what a "typical Norwegian" scent is like, but if Flam is a good description of what "typical Norwegian" is, I want to live there. Flam is a creamy amber floral with an ever-slight touch of dryness. Smelling it makes me feel like discovering a beautiful jasmine tree that's been basking in the sprint/summer sun. In the dry down you can smell the most supple cashmeran and semi-sweet vanilla. If you are looking for a well blended white floral vanilla that's not too complicated, this is for you. So elegant and effortless.

Bravo Memo, you've managed to produce another fine fragrance. The jasmine in Flam is masterfully restrained allowing the other notes to shine. The reviewer below me was spot on regarding Flam having a slight resemblance to Jo Malone's Jasmine Sambac and Marigold. Flam has more depth and better sillage. I was really hoping this was going to be another flop. Looks like I'll be purchasing a full bottle. Can't believe I've slept on this house all these years! UPDATE: I PURCHASED A FB. I'M HAPPY.

I've had this fb for 3 years and fall in love all over again when I pull it back out in the spring. Its a moderately heady jasmine and cashmeran blend that would probably be too dense for warm weather but for the Memo signature musk which seems to diffuse and disburse the scent in every possible direction. Arghhh, its so bright and feminine, in the best way possible. My God, I love this one so bad. I'm such a Memo fangirl its actually kinda crazy how much I love this house LOL

Flam is a fantastic fragrance. Your first impression will be that it smells feminine because jasmine is overwhelmingly the dominant note in the composition, but I'm a straight guy and, man, I wear this and I think it smells so damn good. And yet, I can also imagine my wife wearing it without either of us being self-conscious about it. Guy or girl, I highly recommend giving Flam a shot.

this is a beautiful, warm, heady jasmine scent that is almost animatic to me. on my skin it smells like warm skin on a hot day, i do get a sweat quality there but not in a bad way in any means. i think that’s what makes it even more intoxicating and of course the heady jasmine is the star of the show here. i weirdly am in love with this.

At first whiff this is Alien. A bit more nuanced, perhaps. But then it settles and becomes sweeter and brighter. I still get an Alien vibe, but this is so much more! If Alien is Winter, then this is the thaw. Not quite Spring, neither nor. Absolutely beautiful. Do I need them both? Probably not. Do I want Flåm? Yes, yes I do!

I adore this. A cozy warm vanilla floral with amber that is not at all heavy. A perfect counterpoint when my nose is tired. It really does evoke a cozy Scandinavian cottage—clean lines, warm wood, knit throws and furry white rugs. Great to wear before bed or when you want to feel comforted.

Very feminine. Very jasmine forward, if you like/love Alien from Mugler you will definitely enjoy this one as well! It’s a sweeter, creamier and well blended jasmine fragrance than Alien. A lovely scent for sure. Long lasting and the sillage is very good. IG @smell.pretty

I love this fragrance! My skin pulls strong vanilla and cashmeran notes on the dry down and it almost smells gourmand on me. This is the perfume equivalent of hygge to me, I understand why its named as such. Sufficient staying power and sillage to justify the price.

It’s the love child of Rouge Malachite and Bouquet Encore. A rich and creamy jasmine to my nose, but a thin veil of femininity on my skin. So elegant, classy and graceful like a dancer wearing a silk dress and her hair in a bun. It’s elusive and addictive.

This is a beautiful jasmine amber that starts a little bit fresh from the bergamot, similar to Fragonard Grain du soleil and Mugler alien essence absolue. Verry feminine good for spring and date night in the summer

Pretty , dainty and feminine . Smells natural like the real thing. Smells a bit sexy but mainly beautiful. Creamy Jasmin , airy vanilla . Suitable to spring and summer Longevity is ok, 6 hours

This is definitely not what I imagined. I was thinking something sweet and savory with a kick of jasmine, but this is very jasmine dominant with little sweetness. There is an essence of freshly grated citrus peel right in the opening, but it quickly fades to the background as squeaky clean jasmine takes over your senses. This is a unisex fragrance (that leans ever so slightly feminine at moments) and I can imagine many people getting amazing wear out of it. As the amber begins to creep in, the cleanliness becomes slightly less overpowering and it becomes more of the type of jasmine I appreciate. For me, I like my jasmine ever so slightly dirty and am not a huge fan of clean scents in general. Though the dry-down is more of my speed, I feel as though I would be okay with a cheaper jasmine alternative (such as Mugler's Alien). I think Flam is more elegant... people-pleasing (milder, softer)... but still a very strong jasmine fragrance; it also has that tiny bit of tonka that attempts to peak out throughout the wear and it's quite enjoyable. If it weren't so costly, I would recommend it. For the price... I'll stick to what I already have that works (Alien). I already have Sintra and Marfa is on the list next... too much spending! Haha.

Definitely get the relation to Alien, that signature sultry jasmine is very noticeable here! To my nose it's like coffee or cigarette smoke in floral form. But this is VERY bright in comparison to Alien. Not necessarily fresh, clean or airy. That cigarette smoke amber undertone is still there. Just bright in a literal sense. The brightness offsets some of Alien's heaviness to make this a more daytime-friendly fragrance. Way more approachable and less intimidating. I find the comparisons to northern lights kinda silly as a Finnish person lol. This reminds me of a warm sunny jasmine garden more than anything stereotypically "northern". I can usually at least partly understand the branding of a fragrance, but not with this one. A northern fragrance would be something woody and mossy to me. This is not woody or earthy, in any sense at all. The powderiness here isn't iris-powdery, but a Narciso Rodriquez For Her -powdery. Kinda like makeup chalk powdery. This also reminds me of a candle for some reason. It's probably just me, though this type of scent may have been used in a lot of functional or decorational stuff. Definitely not for me, but I do enjoy smelling this as someone who gets a migraine from Alien.

I like it! It does have that citrus in the beginning, but that dissipates quickly. There's also a fleeting coolness that I found pleasant and interesting, before it warms up. It radiates within arms' length for the first hour or two and is then a very faint skin scent on me. Others may get better longevity as I either go noseblind or my skin soaks things up. As I sit here at the end of the day, I sprayed it on myself for the third time today about 30 minutes ago. I smell powdery white floral sweetness, quite soft and round. Everyone says it's so jasmine, but because this one is more clean than indolic, I don't know that I could've necessarily picked out jasmine rather than gardenia or some other soft white floral. I like my indoles, but this one is safe for work, or ladies' brunch, or a daytime first date. It's pretty without being too frou frou.

Just a really pretty perfume, but i don’t see any relation with scandinavia, or Norway, even neither any random fantasy north village... Also the warmth of the little house with fireplace is far far away of the flåm’s universe imo. Like another reviewer said: i can rather imagine a mediteranean village in a tempered climate, with rockwalls full of Jasmine bushes. Finally, even if the quality is definitely here, for me nothing can justify this crazy price tag. Edit : I’ve smelled it again today and sprayed on my skin, so i could figure out the evolution of this flåm! It smell really like Alien from Mugler, that’s true!!! Maybe a little more subtle though. The Jasmine becomes very dark and compact with hours... I’m impressed by the lasting power by the way. What i found « pretty » is in fact opulent and mature!

Flåm is nice. I am not necessarily completely wowed by it but it combines Jasmine, citrus and vanilla/amber in a most gentle way. Everything in this smells restrained and very fresh...it reminds me of doing laundry actually 😛 I am not sure about Norway and the Vikings though. I mean, the bottle looks stunning, for sure. Longevity is not too bad, 5-6 hours Projection/Sillage: poor on my skin. This is a shy scent. Price: yeah...it’s Memo Paris, we all know what it means in terms of price... I’d wear this in the Spring, Summer and early Fall months. It’s a fresh and ethereal blend. It’s green and sweet and floral and to me, personally, it evokes a clean and freshly laundered white sundress. Would I get a full bottle of this? Not at retail price, no. But if I found it discounted somewhere, then yes, I’d get it...

I bought this on a whim in Doha's duty free, and I love it's rich, warm, ambery scent. It reminded me of something else I already own, Safanad by Parfums de Marly. The notes overlap tremendously, but Flam is a bit softer, less loud, less sweet- wearable in most settings, whereas Safanad is a much stronger, more luxurious special occasion scent. Flam is a bit fresher, more approachable. I think it is a good fall/winter fragrance that works well for most occasions. Like makeup, you can layer it for stronger performance, or tone it down for just a hint of fragrance. There's a gentle hint of tonka on the dry-down, so it is more grounding than the high and mighty Safanad.

I was not expecting to try this fragrance but yesterday I did. It was a lot more feminine leaning than I expected. In my mind, Memo Paris is a unisex brand so that led to a slight disappointment. The fragrance is overall, pretty good. It smells clean and flowery. As a guy, I would not wear this fragrance, not even as an errands fragrance. However, if I was a woman, I would rock the absolute shit out of this. Good for every situation, almost all year round (I do not know about really cold situations). If you are a woman, you should not miss out on this. 7/10

I blind bought this scent a while back before I discovered this site and disappointingly discovered it to be more feminine leaning than I'd prefer. It eventually sat on the shelf for a while until I decided to try it out again today and to my surprise, I actually didn't mind the florals this time around. I experimented and layered Ombre Leather on top of this and it developed into a much more amazing and unique scent! I'm definitely looking forward to experimenting with different layering combos to see what amazing scents I can come up with!

Whoever complains from Flåm being too harsh or has too much jasmine hasn't tested it properly and long enough before commenting. I've tested this on my wrist couple of times and worn out for a day twice. Flåm resembles the summery Aliens in the opening and then becomes this very soft ,floral vanilla perfume its rather close to skin, unlike other perfumes from the brand. I feel like i am wearing a scented body cream, i get a whiff every now and then but nothing overwhelming, Thats why i am considering making this my go to for work in spring.

Fresh! Sweet and fresh citrus opening that is natural and pleasant. Smells like bergamot and lemon blossom on me. It is a very nice scent indeed. The longevity is not great, I sprayed before going to bed and in the morning there was nothing left. It is one of the lighter scents from Memo, which in general lasts forever on me. I quite like it and wish it stayed longer. The usual problem with bergamot and citrus forward perfumes - they are beautiful when they are there, but they are not there for long. Sigh.

I liked it in a grayish, humid and cold weather. It smelled so refreshing, green and crisp, like wet foliage mixed with frozen lake. So authentic! But today I was surprised by smelling Marfa from my wrist. It’s like gentle, less sweet, more polite and intelligent Marfa. I’d rather wear Flåm when it’s late autumn and it sounds exclusively. The quality of the fragrance is excellent, even when Flåm pretending to be Marfa. But Flåm is more outstanding!:)

Somehow I am surprised that people say this projects like crazy... on my skin this didn't last, which is sad somehow, I really enjoy its floral scent. It's bright, it's familiar. It's not something out of the ordinary, but this is exactly what makes it familiar and nice. Powdery, more feminine... I guess it's just one of those lighter wears from Memo which doesn't need too much complexity.

Definite Alien vibes, but I find this to be more vanillic and sweeter, fresher in the sense of a freshly blooming (non-indolic) jasmine. This is much easier to wear if you like Alien but find it a touch intimidating or too strong in warmer weather. This works all year save winter, too cold to appreciate this scent's beauty. Moderately projecting, never goes above arms' length.

A perfectly pretty jasmine and amber. A polite jasmine. Not indolic at all. It's very likeable but I don't know if there's enough going on here to make me need a full bottle. I do wish I got more of the cedar. That said, if someone happened to give me one, I'd be happy to wear it. It might just be a victim of me having other jasmines in my collection.

This is very jasmine-heavy, but a well-behaved jasmine rather than indolic. Starts out with quite a bit of green and citrus but then dries down to an ambery jasmine, very much like Alien, but a bit more subtle. I have Alien and Alien Fusion, so I feel that this would be redundant in my collection, but it is really lovely.

Don't believe the marketing because you'll be disappointed, I've been given this scent since the person didn't like it on their skin and I honestly really appreciate. It is a bit basic, but a strong basic and I especially smell a jasmine powdery smell on my skin. I do think it is very overpriced for what it is.

To me this smells like a sunny winters day. That could just be a personal thing because my brain associates jasmine with winter for some reason. I love it and don’t think it is particularly feminine or masculine. Added bonus is the stunning bottle. I’ll be wearing this a lot this winter.

Warm and sweet jasmine scent. Very nice blend of vanilla and jasmine. Edit. At 7hrs, the skin sample was almost gone but the clothing sample was still happily projecting away. Edit. Still quite strong scent from the clothing sample after 11 hrs. Alas I’ve got to shower.

Very feminine smell, similar to Alien by Mugler, but more floral in my opinion. It's a nice scent but not unique. Not worth the price tag in my opinion, better buy Alien by Thierry Mugler instead.

Alien's daytime, office-friendly cousin. It's lovely!

Flam struts in on tiptoes, jasmine draped in polyester lace. It's less a whispered secret and more a generic, white floral reed diffuser in a marble foyer. Exciting. From the first sniff, it’s alarmingly linear: jasmine, jasmine, jasmine. No twist, no turn, just that same floral note on repeat, like a looped chorus that never hits the bridge. Jasmine enjoyers rejoice. It’s unabashedly feminine, yes, but in the way of an 80s soap star: glamorous, warm. And just a bit off-putting. There’s this heat to it, too, which I assumed to be a rather sweet benzoin-balsam blend spiked with ambroxan, til checking the notes that is. It comes as an almost metallic glow under the petals, as if the jasmine were boiled in gold leaf. But. Instead of richness, it comes off grating, like overheated silk that sticks to your skin. A signature accord without any subplot. In a world of scented stories, Flam to me is like the pamphlet version. It's polished, but even more so predictable, and definitely flat. Notttt the mood.

I was actually a little underwhelmed by Flåm. I enjoy and think the opening with bergamot, bitter orange and sage is beautiful and wish these notes stayed longer but it dries down to purely amber & soapy jasmine on my skin. The soapy facet fades after a while and leaves a delicate, ambery-vanilla skin scent. Flåm is very soft on my skin in comparison to other Memo fragrances which tend to be very much out there in performance.

Honestly, my nose can't really feel jasmine. More like a freshly cut tree branch with resins within.. (Maybe we could add a bit of jasmine petals here?) But either way it's a great match in early spring or early fall when one miss this original forest-y vibes, also with the part that this fragrance wholly depicted the gorgeous nordic landscape I've imagined of!

It really does remind of alien, a more citrusy, airier version of it, also suitable for warm climate and easier to wear. By the way It is overall a bit plain to me, especially given the price and Memo's good name. I also keep asking myself how that beautiful viking ship on the bottle relates to this solar jasmine fragrance.

I'm not blown away by this one, white floral, bright, with the fuzzy cashmeran feel adding this woody ambery backbone, pretty apparent from the start. Quite musky and powdery too, leaning a bit cosmetic in a clear feminine way. Not bad, but not even remotely worth the price.

That’s a very boring jasmine scent with a cloying sweetness in the base. I feel like I’ve smelled so many perfumes like this one both in niche and designer fragrance lines.
