Irish Leather

Testing Irish Leather from a 1.5 ml Memo Paris sample. I really like this one! It’s way better done than French Leather in my opinion, even though Irish Leather is catered more towards men, I much prefer it. Quite a masculine scent but a good one! Smells like a typical aromatic, herbal, piney, ambery, woody, leathery manly man scent. Photorealistic, zingy, bright juniper berries and mate are the stand out notes to me, even though it’s advertised as a leather perfume! The mate and juniper berries take the scent into a fresher, green/bitter direction but it’s all balanced by the tonka beans. A perfectly balanced bittersweet scent! The leather is not animalic, dark and rough but leans towards something super smooth as a fine piece of suede. Not prominently featured, so don’t avoid this if you’re thinking it’s going to be leather dominant. It’s not...Better call it a entry level leather fragrance, smooth and elegant. For moderate temperatures, spring and autumn mainly, Irish Leather is all that you want! It’s a long lasting fragrance but it’s not overpowering and it’s very easy to wear. Average projection, sits closer to the skin than I would prefer, so in terms of performance it isn’t spectacular but it isn’t a poor performer either. Nothing too complex or too niche in or difficult to wear here. With all that said, it’s a bit too masculine for my personal taste! But it does smells excellent and it’s a wonderful composition for those looking for something green, bitter and on the fresher side not too far off the beaten track. It’s an elevated version of a classic aromatic designer scent with a corresponding price! This and Terre d'Hermes Eau Givree by Hermès have the same beautifully done juniper berries note that I have discovered that I adore! Irish Leather could be the heavier version of Eau Givree, one for summer and the other one for fall or spring. Not talking dupes here.. I would buy this for my husband if he likes it, because I would love smelling this on him. It’s that good..

I have been eyeing the Memo brand for a very long time and finally decided to purchase the Irish Leather. I am so happy with my choice and do not regret it for one second. I went to the main Memo shop in Rue de Cambon in Paris and the lady was incredibly sweet. She gave me testers for the whole Memo leather line including some more and a mini Irish Leather body lotion. I am so happy I waited to go to the main shop instead of purchasing in a department store counter. First of all, the brand is just beautiful. All their perfumes are made with so much attention to details and with very long lasting ingredients. The bottles are incredibly beautiful and all have their unique drawing. Many of the Memo scents have very creative notes in them that I would never imagine in a perfume, but somehow it all blends beautifully together. It was very difficult to pick a scent as many caught my attention but the Irish Leather is perfection especially for the colder upcoming months. To me its a very sensual, green, earthy scent. The juniper berries give it a slight touch of fruity sweetness. The leather gives it a dark and alluring feel. It is spicy, and a soft leather stays throughout. Overall it is a fresh green in the opening and it envelops into a deep and sexy scent perfume. As many people mentioned, it reminds me too of a crisp misty winter forest walk, beautiful in every dimension.

It is just as amazing as Floraiku's Between Two Trees. I compared them both at the same time, one on each hand. The openings were more different but they became much more similar very soon, in 10 minutes or so. Floraiku version is slightly more floral, sweeter, maybe even more luxurious in a sense, Memo version is slightly more leathery and simpler. Masterpieces are both (the author is the same) but the price is way over reasonable so I will try the Rasasi dupe next. Yes, there is even similarity with Orlov Paris's Walk On The Wild Side which I have (very fine leather) but that one is closer to BR540 because of saffron, having that very crispy note in it that's missing in these two scents. That saffron note is so attention-seeking that I don't really want to go out with it but Floraiku's and Memo's versions are perfectly good for that. And the yerba mate note: well, as a regular drinker and having tried many versions of it over the years, I wouldn't say that I recognise mate here. But the greenery that is supposed to be mate, is very nice anyway (in both of them).

I love Memo. I rarely am tempted to buy a bottle - regardless I’m always impressed with the build and offer. (I do own Tigers Nest). I received a huge decent Memo discovery kit so I can enjoy the scents at a leisurely pace and sure enough the first one sums up my experience with them. A green sweet slightly dirty lush scent with a hint of untanned leather. Gorgeous. Amazingly it is genuinely remarkably similar to HDp 1828, Commes des Garçon Amazingreen and Oliver and Co./Avant Garden Lab Veil - and distantly not far off Ambergreen. It has just enough of leather (only just) to differentiate it - maybe problematically even then nose to skin rather than as a waft - occasionally my nose/brain registers more of the leather. I really like it - I may have to indulge in a bottle though my common sense kinda says wait until one of the aforementioned I own needs replacing as it’s so close. There! Done deal - it’s on my shopping list for the right time...

My favorite from the brand. Green leather, that's what this is (which coincidently fits the Irish narrative, i.e. perfect scent for St Patrick's parade). Scent is mostly leather-woody-spicy but has a lot of complex, dark green notes as below: Clary Sage, Juniper, green mate, oil of flouve, birch (leaves?) - all green notes, beautifully blended! Notes from the Memo website. Sorry Fragrantica, you are wrong again (or incomplete): head notes: clary sage, juniper, pink pepper heart notes: green mate, flouve, orris base notes: amber, birch, leather, tonka This is very niche and not for everybody. Has a little bit of the old leather scent vibe but very/ modern built. Great performer, very masculine IMO and attention grabber. This is no Dior Sauvage, this is a serious fragrance. My wife thinks this is a lighter more wearable version of Amouage Interlude Man - I can see what she means, probably even closer to Interlude Black Iris. Must try!!!

One of those times where I do not agree with the crowd on the masculine-feminine classification, and where Fragrantica has missed out on very important notes The opening is indeed bitter-aromatic and rather masculine for that - I pick up juniper berries and pink pepper (not listed here but on the Memo website) but then just in a few minutes I feel a very strong and very unmistakable orris root butter. Checked the Memo website, "Iris concrete" listed there, and yep, that's the root oil. For me it's a very feminine, soft, buttery note, and on my skin is stronger than leather accord. I can also detect some tonka bean which is also sweet and feminine. In the nutshell, even though I avoid masculine leaning perfumes for myself, I would totally buy it for myself. An absolutely gorgeous composition reading the reviews, this one probably acts differently depending on skin chemistry, but on me it's soft, buttery, feminine

I went to Bloomingdales in NYC recently and went to the Memo set up on the first floor in search of a new signature scent. I gotta say, this brand is the first one I've come across where every single fragrance I tried, I wanted to get them all! But the one that stood out to me the most was the Irish Leather, it's bold but not too strong, it's masculine, and it's something I can see myself wearing every day. It mixes the "dark green" scent with the leather perfectly. It's very versatile, wear it during the day, at night for a date, any season will do but summer might be a bit too warm for this one but you can still pull it off. Sillage is moderate, which I think is a good thing. With a spray or two, it reaches just far enough for yourself and someone you wanna pull in for a hug or kiss to enjoy ;) The price tag is definitely up there, but the quality of this cologne is worth it, I believe.

This is a an absolute masterpiece of a fragrance. The mix of light airy notes with dark green notes all balancing delicately with a leather background is done to perfection. The leather is supportive, it is not the main note. It is a piece of the puzzle. I picked up the 6.7 oz bottle and let me explain why... I love fougeres, I love masculine scents. IL strikes a balance between the old and the new, between a time before us and our current times. IL’s artistry is second to none. This should be the signature scent for a man’s man. If Viking and GIT from creed had a father figure this would be it. Scent lasts a good while and projects moderately but the sillage is good. Enjoy this fragrance and don’t just spray this on a strip. Go to a store and spray it on yourself and wear the full experience. True artistry.

For a scent this spendy I expected a complex experience and longevity and this,my first Memo Paris test, really did deliver. A crisp and startling opening like stepping out of doors early on a misty country morning settled into a soft spicy leather on my skin but I kept getting bursts of green freshness for a good hour or five hours. It evoked hiking and tweeds, the choice of "Irish" is so apt. Finally it settled to a soft powdery iris and did NOT shift. I could still sense it after a gym class. Very different from the heavy, spicy orientals I usually favour but I want this as a fresh spring alternative as soon as I can acquire a bottle (second hand probably at this price point lol)

Wet, fresh green opening, piney without any disinfectant qualities, very very realistic juniper. Not sure I would get “mate” from this without seeing the notes but there’s definitely a minty/herbaceous quality to it but with a toned-down, slightly dusty element like dried tea leaves. After a few hours when the green notes aren’t as dominant the leather starts to come through more noticeably. Overall quite lovely. Notes are traditionally “masculine” but I don’t think the composition is - it evokes a forest after rain more than shaving soap imo. To anyone questioning the “Irish” angle here - I think it comes down to ‘damp’ and ‘green’: two quintessentially Irish qualities.

I like this scent, particularly the mix of leather and juniper. Green scents are a win for me, and this one leans masculine. It lasts long but silage is modest (probably just as well). Amber gives it a bit of sweetness, which tones down to leather. Do not apply too much though because it could end up being sickly sweet. Perfect for cool weather and in the evening. I am not sure I will wear this during the day. There is something else that comes out prominently, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what it is. I’ll figure it out someday. Rating: 8.5/10

i love tea scents and leather scents and this fragrance marries both beautifully. it’s a fresh, green leather scent and the mate adds so much interest. the dry down in particular is gorgeous and smooth, a welcome surprise after the striking sharpness of the opening. one of those rare perfumes that gets me excited about perfumery. this is a unisex scent that leans slightly masculine; i imagine i would reach for this more often if it was just a little sweet(er). but i love it regardless. a rare leather perfume that is perfectly wearable in the summer.

A gorgeous cool weather fragrance, not the dead of winter or the hottest part of summer either. Think the shoulder months, this puts me in mind of sweater weather and cool overcast skies. This is what I was craving when I sampled Creed GIT, but GIT leans into the "higher pitched" lemon verbena. Obviously they don't share many notes, but conceptually this is more what I wanted. The juniper lends an evergreen quality to this, the leather is there but not dominant. 5/5, will buy a full bottle.

I literally had the same experience as sunformiles. I had Irish Leather, Italian Leather and Maison Crivelli's Iris Malikhan on tester strips in front of me. I found it hard to distinguish between the Irish Leather and the Iris Malikhan. I loved the Iris Malikhan, but I thought that the Irish Leather projected better. I found the Iris Malikhan to be a slight bit smoother as well. Still, both are good, but you only need one of them. A solid 9/10 for both.

It a nice, clean, and green scent. It reminds me of a tea but not being sweet. It opens with green spices at the beginning but smoothes out a little later. Only real problem I have is that for the retail price it a bit overpriced due to it having poor projection but on online discounter it a much better price. I did blind buy this and this is my first niche, and I'm happy with this fragrance but it different on every skin and you should test it first.

Oh what a blast of green, fresh and leathery scent at the same time. This is Memo’s ubermasterpiece and will last for the whole day while it solidly contributes to your reputation as a wearer of spectacular fragances. I really can’t figure out how Memo can do better than this. It brings me to the time when I was visiting the most elegant and cleanest stables in central Europe and guess where, in Ireland too. Enough said

I am really loving this fragrance. It has a streamlined, masculine vibe that leans in that direction, yet hoping to pull it myself and not feel too masculine.Perhaps I could layer it with something that adds a touch of femininity, though I wouldn’t want to lose the essence—especially the beautiful dry down. I love the green, leathery scent. It’s smooth and calming, without any sharpness. It’s a truly refined fragrance.

Today i was in the perfumery and i was planning to specifically try cuirs nomade, This one surprised me it was something else something crazy how can i describe it in one word " the scent stole my soul " if this one was a character i will describe it as a charsimatique bold person who really can steal the light and the attention with only his presence

I purchased the Memo Discovery kit and am making my way through it. Yesterday I wore this particular fragrance on a fairly Irish day, cold, rainy, and windy. A sharp blast, fresh and slightly salty. Didn't create a totally enveloping cloud around me, but when the wind blew I could catch whiffs of it here and there. A pleasant, calming scent.

I have African, Irish and Russian leather and this one is the most leathery of them.. Something in it makes me feel like I'm standing in a windy European mountain by the sea.. I like how simple yet nice it's.. Too bad it's sillage isn't great, I belive its for men of all ages u can dress it with casual leather jacket or even a suit
