Kedu

Memo's Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. At least that's the first thing that came to mind after the initial spray. The opening notes - grapefruit + bergamot - are even similar to Light Blue Intense but Kedu feels even more errr intense-ier. I think there's a whole load of pink pepper in Kedu that's not listed in the note breakdown. It's giving the citruses a spicier dimension and preventing them from smelling like car freshener - a tendency Light Blue Intense has because of the very green and grassy patchouli (or is it vetiver?). I'm not getting any Neroli in the opening of Kedu at all. All of this is not to say it's a 1:1 dupe. Kedu has its own scent profile, identity and direction. Based on how long the citruses are staying around thus far, I'm expecting Kedu to have Memo's signature longevity. 30+ mins in they're still there where those in Light Blue and Light Blue Intense have already disappeared. > 1 hr in, It has transformed to musk. No moss or sesame. I also seemed to have missed the mate and flowers entirely. > 15 mins later the musk has taken on some green qualities. Not sure if that's the moss or the mate but it had me there for a second. Usually once you get down to the musk that means a frag has reached the end of its evolution and that all you're getting from here on out. What a nice twist and clever fakeout. Now I'm curious to see what will emerge next. I have a suspicion I'm finally going to get the flowers. UPDATE: the flowers never came. The musk was it. > 4 hrs it appears there was never anything else that would emerge. That was the end of the line. The musk hasn't changed or added any new notes. Mind you, the white musk here smells nicer and has more character than what's used in other frags that end in this accord but that's all that's left now. > Hr 5. No change. Just waiting for this to dissipate completely so I can note longevity. > 5hr 45 mins in and the white musk is almost gone. I detected a hint of something grassy in there briefly but overall I think lifespan of this is about 6-7 hrs depending on body chem. Likely lasts a full workday if sprayed on clothes. PS. I almost forgot to mention this sits warm on skin. Nothing alarming but it'll warm up your skin.

Just when I thought I have smelled enough fresh musk perfumes, in comes Kedu. When I try Kedu, the citrus and musk are the first notes I detect and I confidently think "oh I know this one". It is refreshing and pleasant. It's only citrus-vanilla-musk, nothing new. But there is more beneath the surface within this perfume...The more I smell it, it becomes more interesting. Behind the citrus and musk is an unfamiliar, sensuous and even exotic smell with nutty nuances(im guessing sesame from the note list), tea like, warm and floral. Complex, developing better with time and really shinning later on. Now it has my full attention! This perfume is like meeting someone new and during the conversation, noticing the person has a slight accent that is not local; Or noticing the persons features and assuming they are of mixed race. This perfume is casual, light, yet certainly entertaining. A perfect mix of the ordinary with a touch of exotic. Longevity is great, clings on fabric and stays on skin. Kedu is An understated beauty and underrated perfume that I need have!

OMG... I had been back and forth on getting either Kedu or Kedu Sesame (which I ordered as it's not easy to find online). I had a brief sniff of Kedu at a store and really enjoyed it. Loved the sesame. Today I sprayed some on my arm to help me decide what to do. I was initially worried that it leant too masculine. The grapefruit/citrus burst was refreshing but I didn't get much of the floral notes. I think the mate was a bit aggressive for a moment. Once it settled, the creamy sesame started to dominate and it was such a lovely, comforting scent. The dry-down was EVERYTHING. White musk done nicely (not synthetic like some other houses...) with a hint of sesame. I would wear this in the evening when I want a energetic citrus burst before going out, then luxuriating in the creamy sesame, before going to bed with a slightly nutty musk. Just delightful. I'm glad I ordered Kedu Sesame as I'd enjoy the extra sesame, but to be honest, I might get a small travel spray of Kedu OG as well. Can't wait to compare the two. Performance is great.

I have never smelled something like this before! At first glance it might look like a regular old citrus cologne, but no. The sesame really makes it stand out. It's so delicious, like a sesame infused creamy dessert. But together with the lovely mandarin and grapefruit and the dewy florals of neroli, rose and peony the overall impression is fresh and not too gourmand. It's just very creamy. Maybe the musk in the base also plays a role in that. Kedu gives me such a summery and exotic vibe without being beachy or fruity. Not that I don't like those kind of scents, but variety and originality are always a plus. While I was also quite impressed by Marfa and Lalibela, this is my favorite Memo so far. It's a softer scent, no loud sillage or harsh notes here, but it lasts decently well. On my skin it leans more feminine, als the sweet and floral notes really come out. Might be more unisex on others. The only thing I expected but don't really get is the mate tea note. But that doesn't matter as I really love the scent as a whole!

Ok I've come back to revise my initial review. This is definitely one of my favourite scents. When I first bought it, I was like "what's so special about it?". It's one of those scents that if you were sampling it a line up, it wouldn't particularly stand out. But this perfume has grown and grown and grown in me. It's very unique and addictive. And I never grow sick of it. I moisturise my skin with pure organic shea butter ( the hard kind that melts into your skin) then spray this on top. Shea butter can smell nutty/toasty/coconutty so it puts some oopmf on the sesame. Plus, the scent lasts FOREVER on your skin. Does the shea butter and sesame notes in kedu harmonise perfectly? No but they don't clash either. Most people aren't super obsessed with perfume so I don't think they can tell the difference. It's a projection beast and lasts hours. Those who are not smelled it are just becoming anosmic. This is hands down the best perfume in my collection of 20 full bottles, 20minis and various samples.

This is a fragrance that you must try, not "read". It can't be simply described by the notes listed on the pyramid. Its very unique! and gorgeous! It smells somehow warm and sweet; and a bit kind of nutty.. On the top, the citruses are perfectly blended and tamed, and after a while, the hearts start to ring joyously. I can't really feel the floral notes but it does present. It ring harmoniously with the base. I found it sweet and slightly nutty,(I think its from the sesame .this is the first sesame frag. I've ever found). The sesame notes is not kind of "sesame oil" you may find in the Asian dish, as this one a lot richer, warmer and slightly sweeter. I like its dry down the most. very gentle but still rich. I can feel the musk here.. At this stage, the projection is weak, but it stay on your skin. very beautiful! I can't resist myself from keep sniffing my wrist..

I love Kedu because of the creamy sesame and how it blends smoothly into a lightly-sweet, cologne-style gourmand. The citrus opening lasts for 5 seconds, and then you are left with an easy-to-wear sesame-musky fragrance. Except for the neroli, which lasts longer than the grapefruit opening, the other florals, to my nose, are quite mild, if not totally undetectable. The only problem with Kedu is that it doesn't last very long. However, I tried layering it with Diptyque's Tempo -- seeing that both have the mate accord -- and discovered their beautiful combination. The patchouli in Tempo balances Kedu's sweetness perfectly while the mate in both are amplified. The combination helps Kedu last a bit longer and transforms it from something nutty-sweet to something deep and complex. The combo is quite unique too, which is perfect! Try it if you have both!

Oh the price, oh the packaging, oh the scent! I just like it for the first time when I sample this one at the Memo’s store. I smell a lot of this brand and yes I have to get this bottle back to smelling it again and again! Do you know I trying so hard to find some fragrance that make me feels like I smell a fresh cut flower and yes! this one remind me to the first time when I smell a fresh freesia when I was young and it was the very first time that Thailand import freesia to the flower shop! it was so so so good to smelling this fragrance, don’t think about the price if it can bring you some beautiful memories and yes I use credit card to buy it and calling the call center to pay by installments...

I tested this at the counter a few times now. On the paper or on myself...this smells wonderful! Except I feel like for the pricetag I don't know if its worth it cos it's that light with sillage and the projection feels poor. Like @Oilove23 said, it smells expensive and beautiful, it's a clean luxury place I feel personally. Almost like one of those branded stores (hermes, prada, chanel etc.) I wanna smell like it and I wanna buy the full bottle but the performance of it though...is still the factor that I can't put my money to it. If it was free then HELL YEAH! Although nothing comes for free unless it's a competition and I am lucky enough to win a bottle.

So so good! Starts off with a realistic grapefruit, neroli, and sesame. The other florals are definitely present underneath, but I can't pick out any single one of them individually. Dry down leads to mostly musk, with a touch of the mate and sesame. To me, this smells pretty much exactly like what I would expect from mixing Pacific Rock Moss and L'Eau Papier (which are both scents I love). I think it's better than either one of these individually, it's a great harmony. Definitely performs better than them too, though not by much. Pretty typical projection and longevity. Great unisex scent, excited to wear this in the spring!

On my skin there are three phases: first grapefruit (the best one I've encountered so far)... ok, it's a like for now, more manly cologne type but not cheap and harsh... second: mate and musc, wow, please do not go that way... marking it a mere ok at that point... an hour passes, it gets to the drydown and all of a sudden I'm in love...(drydown lasted for about 6h, all together 8-9h) on my hubby all three phases happened all at once, damn, I think I'ma gonna buy it for him and steal it from time to time...

Great! Much more feminine than unisex. Warm and soft, opens with sugary citruses, then I can smell some flowers, and in the drydown musk and sesame. It has no great longevity on the skin, on clothes is much better. I can wear it any time, anywhere, but it's definitely more a day perfume than a night out. If you like warm perfumes go for it!

This is definitely leans to a more feminine scent. It's powdery, delicate, and soft. When i first smelled it, it was kinda basic, nothing that stands out. But overtime, it kinda grew on me. I think it's a very youthful scent, something I would wear in highschool perhaps. Would recommend if you're looking for delicate powdery scents.

I really love this. It's a very pretty citrus and woodsy fragrance to me. This is different than any other citrus or woody fragrances I've found. I also love the mate in it. I'm just not ready to buy a full bottle-yet-because it doesn't last as long as I want it to. Nor does it project much, but this is a very beautiful fragrance.

This is an absolutely wonderful scent, i think its very warm and creamy and sensual, very very sexy. It lasts for a good while and you definitely get whiffs of it in the air. 10/10

Feels like you have just applied a luxurious cream on your skin after hot bath. It is a cozy relaxation, perfect for moments of meditation.

This fragrance is very close to make me a religious person. I'm pretty sure this is how God Ra smelled like.

I agree with allwritey below. I also want to add that this fragrance is based on the residency where my late grandfather was from. My family mostly originate from the province where the recidency is situated. This does not depict the rich Javanese culture, the gajillion temples or the lush landscape. When I first heard of it I was expecting some teak wood, ylang-ylang, jasmine, pandan leaf, vetiver, sandalwood, maybe some light incense. The smell of fragrant wood and the mixture of flowers and leaves people use for traditional processions, the dried bunch vetiver people use to keep with the traditional batik fabric to make them smell good and keep moth away, the beeswax to paint batik. Or something smokey green to depict the plain and the sulfuric smell from the volcanoes. This fragrance is so far from it. Heck, even the image they choose for the fragrance is the pattern of poleng fabric which is widely used in Bali. Kedu, both the plain and the residency, is located in Central Java, Java island. Two different islands. They share some similarities in culture but poleng is not used in Java. I was quite excited when I discovered this in Galeries Lafayette in Paris sometime ago and heard the story behind it, only to get it deflated out of sheer disappointment, and frankly, insulted. I recently got a sample to see if I was perhaps too quick to judge. But nope. If you want to smell the fragrant smell of South East Asia, go smell Dusita fragrances. Pissara is Thai but she captured the many fragrant smells we share so beautifully.

I bought a sample based on my affinity towards citrus and neroli for warm weather wear. Also, I like Bvlgari au The Blanc, Omnia Crystalline, and EA White Tea which are included here in the "reminds me of" choices. These give me a tea, relaxation, and subtle "my skin better" vibes. I do like Kedu, the citrus is fresh without bitterness and the sesame doesn't go rancid on my skin. The floral notes are in there for balance, but they aren't overwhelming. Maybe not worth a full bottle for me as I have full bottles of EA White Tea EDT and EDP as well as travel sizes of the flankers to use up.

Citrusy, tea-y, delicate and peaceful fragrance-ling. The reason why I labelled it ‘ little one ’ is because it is extremely gentle and small-diameter. The scent needs to be amplified somehow, so close to the skin and so little diffused that I had to stick my nose to my arm and interpret it. I was expecting a serious sesame flavour, but I can barely pick it out. Despite all this, I like it, but I can't wear it because I have to buy a full bottle and pour it on me, then it will satisfy me.

The opening is almost like you poured sesame oil on your skin. After a while soft floral tea followed. Nothing much to this. On clothing you get the floral tea faster and weaker sesame, but that’s about it. Nice pleasant scent but definitely need reapplication during the day if you need entire day scent. Not one that stands out, but definitely nice enough to be complimented. Edit. Umm... just noticed there’s no tea in the pyramid. But definitely a floral tea scent for me.

Memo, Memo, Memo...we were doing so good! What happened with Kedu? Ok, let me start by saying that this company is quickly becoming one of my favorite fragrance houses. I'm currently wearing this right now, and although it is a nicely done fragrance, it doesn't last on my skin for more than 30 minutes. And yes, I said 30 minutes. Unless they do something to help with the longevity, I just couldn't fathom spending one penny on this perfume.

There was one review below that astutely said it smells like an Allure Pour Homme flanker. To my nose this is a photorealistic copy of Allure Edition Blanc eau de parfum. I paid 210AUD as opposed to 460AUD. Anyone who paid 460 was fleeced. I love the aesthetic of Memo - but their prices are disproportionate to its originality. You are getting a 10-15% stronger version of APHEB for twice the price.

For me, the dry down of Kedu on the test strip is essentially a combination of Prada Infusion d’Amande and Infusion d’Iris, with the added softness and warmth of sesame oil. It is a clean and soft scent that is easy to appreciate and unlikely to offend anyone.

Light, green and refreshing... with that clean “straight out of the shower” character. The sesame note is exquisite, super unique but easy to like... and it pairs extremely well with the mandarin and tea notes which are also present. Just lovely!

Very very pleasant and easy to wear floral fragrance. Something I feel everyone would enjoy. For those who are subtle and don’t want to be seen outright and confronted, but noticed, by a nod and slight smile from a distance type of way.

This is so cozy and comforting. It's the type of fragrance that makes me want to wrap myself in a fuzzy blanket and snuggle in at home. The sesame is so soft and creamy, perfect for cooler autumn temperatures.

I had the tester, was included after I bought the memo discovery set. Memo makes quality perfume. If you are looking for a leather scent the 3 in the discovery set might be worth looking into. I went through a leather phase a few years back, I don't care for them much at the time. I mainly bought the discovery set for Marfa which doesn't work at all for me. I get no pleasant scent out of that only some sweetness mixed with cigarette scent, I think perhaps the agave note doesn't react well to my chemistry. The other 2 were very feminine, sintra many say smells like a scent by Killian. I don't have the Killian scent but I do have Dossiers version floral marshmallow and it smells very similar to sintra, I like it and use my Dossier version to sleep, my undercloth and as a quick room deodorizer now and then. I also received Corfu that smells like Sisley Izia, I prefer Izia but really don't like either that much. Bitter orange, a bit spicy, powdery and overall boring. Two more samples in my purchase from Memo, nice but nothing that I must have and pay $$$ for. From everything Kedu was the only one that intrigued me and I felt I needed more than that small sample to make up my mind. I found a full bottle on fragrancenet.com for $150 and I splurged and ordered. I've ordered more expensive perfumes but this one is not worth more than $80 in my opinion. It is most likely me, this perfume simply does not become as beautiful and unique like it does on many who left positive reviews. It's not bad, but it is very boring on me. Makes me want to go purchase light blue by dolce Gabbana which surprisingly I don't currently have. That one is a like for me but evolves more than Kedu does on my skin. All the sweetness and creaminess folks are mentioning, I get none of that. It has so little silage, I easily over spray and that's bad because all I then get is spiciness and lemony bitterness. So, just a few sprays and be patient....it does start to radiate the longer it sits on my skin. It takes too long to get there and when it does it's just nice, lemony sweetness. Smells like lemon tea with a hint of sweetness. At first I thought it smelled like CK One which is dirt cheap in comparison. No, ck one is more fruity and floral, smells better on me than Kedu but is gone within an hour. Kedu does last and it's sophisticated for a citrus scent. It's nice, I'm glad I have it, I'll keep on trying it. I think it might work wonderful layered with something else. I just need to figure out what that other scent is.

I love Memo-Paris fragrances. I've sampled many and I own several full 100ml bottles of their perfumes. Given the listed notes and my overall feelings about Memo-Paris, I decided to purchase a sizable decant of Kedu. I love the opening, which seemed promising. Sweet & fragrant citrus with an orange, grapefruit and ginger opening done right. However, within minutes the sweet and bright citrus opening gives way to sesame, which lands in a bread-y, yeast-y, dough-y way on my skin. The mid-notes last forever and over-take the opening, which is to be expected. Musk, moss and woods emerge. The sesame notes last forever. I suppose Kedu is a nice enough and rather unique fragrance for someone who favors these notes. I just do not wish to walk around smelling like baked bread, or a sesame cracker.

This reminds me of Quercus from Penhaligon. Looking at the notes, they are also quite similar. I liked Quercus but found it too nauseating on me and this is having a similar effect. For my nose this is a masculine perfume. Its like a late afternoon walk in the forest, an earthy, aromatic smell. I wanted to post an update - this fragrance is very linear so it doesn’t change a lot and has staying power. It is also definitely sea salty. I would say gender neutral, anyone can wear it. Suitable more for during the day than in the evening. Unlike Quercus it is not making me nauseated, I think it is a good quality scent. Not too exciting for me but a pleasant affair.

A lovely fragrance however quite boring and not even almost worth the price tag. Although I do enjoy the sesame note which adds a touch of interest, this is simply another citrus neroli based fragrance with a hint of aromatics from the mate. There are better versions of this genre out there. I was hoping the sesame note would blow me away but it is barely there, other than to add a slight warmth. Hardly any hints of rose and peony. Again, very pleasant and wearable scent but nothing exciting for the price tag. EDIT - within an hour it morphs into a scent reminiscent of cheap men’s cologne.

I smelled this on a friend and like’d it. On me it is citrus floral with sweet undertones. Not bad, not great. I love it is not that persistent. The drydown has something that reminds me of Amarige. Update: my husband seem to like it.

Oh, at first something sour—almost like vinegar—hits. I suppose that’s the citrus note. Thankfully, this is fleeting. I like tea notes, and unfortunately I can’t detect the accord. Glad I got to try though.

A safe, citrus/petitrain unisex scent. Safe and ... boring. Easy grab and easy choice of a gift, but it would be unremarkably and unnoticed. Spend your money on smth else :)

Light and citrusy. I don't enjoy this scent profile in general and that's the same here. I do like the sesame touch, it's quite unique. I'll opt for Kedu Sesame.

Really want to love this ... smells very pretty, fresh, quite feminine and very easy to wear but it doesn’t last unfortunately.

Light and fresh scent. It is pleasant, but I feel like it’s more suited for men.

It becomes boring after a couple of uses

I am so sad that this smells so bad on me. I loved it on the paper strip. It was warm, comforting and nice. I could smell the creamy sesame and thought I would love this scent. However, when I actually put it on, it turned into a man's cologne. It somehow developed into a manly, watery scent and lasted forever on my skin which I would normally love, but in this case horrified me. Now I look at the notes and it's probably the moss coming out strong. All the other notes die out and I'm left with a dark, damp and soggy moss. It's to do with my skin chemistry I guess, so I can't wholeheartedly blame this perfume. But I wish I loved it. Maybe I'll enjoy it on others. 2/10

A bit of a jumbled, confusing scent.

The kind of perfume people will get closer to smell more of. Has a contrasting grapefruit open with a warm toasted drydown. The first spritz is a delicious citrusy tang. It transitions to a warm sunshiny nutty ambiance filled with savory resins, and a sweet underlay - subtly done with the floral notes. The mate, a kind of astringent tea smell, adds to the dried aroma of the sesame. And I swear I could smell a dash of vetiver, even though it's not listed. Blended so that no one note particularly stands out, but rather combine to create an easy-to-wear complex scent. One thing I love about MEMO perfumes is that they are all sophisticated. Kedu is polished, with a sedgy flair highlighting the toasted sesame note. Inspired by the Borobudur temple on the Java plains where penitents throw a sesame seed for each sin into a holy fire. Feeling cheerful after the purification, this is like warmth rising off hot seeds mixed with exotic accents. Sillage interesting. I became slightly anosmic to it, but everyone else in the house still smelled it strongly. Longevity good, unisex.

Reminds me of zoologist dragonfly- slightly green and citrus but warm. Dragonfly is warmer and hovers ( and has other notes going on) This is not earth shattering but it’s good. Not what I expected from the notes or the reviews. It’s defin light. 2 sprays and it’s got almost no Projection an hour later, I have to get my now 1” away to smell anything. The opening 3 min went from bright lemon to a chocolate-like nutty scent. It then oscillates between those 2 polar directions for a bit then settles down to a very light warm citrus. Not sweet but the nutty softens up the edges, with a base of light musk. I’m not impressed. It’s easy and elegant but nothing like what I was hoping for when I splurged for this expensive decant. Dragonfly is more interesting imo.

i sampled Kedu 2 times my 1st review - warm spice,cocoa, nutty, powdery, i like it, boozy-cognac notes, rosey, orange, peony, dry down is total sesame musk 2nd review- chocolate, buttery, rose, powdery, musk....& the citrus in this yikes first time I loved it & was ready to buy a bottle but I'm glad I didn't act impulsively because the citrus in this roughens it all up, i think there could have been better use or formulation/dosing of that specific accord. Unless you douse yourself in it with at least 3 sprays the performance is weak & longevity is short. These 3 reasons alone are strong enough for me to avoid a purchase.

Update: 12/20/21 - So after owning both Iris Rebelle and Kedu in my collection, I thought they smelled quite similar. Kedu undoubtedly has more depth and a prettier floral nuance than Iris Rebelle does, and even though Kedu does not have any iris/orris/carrot notes and isn't meant to be an iris-centric perfume, my gosh, does it remind me a lot of Iris Rebelle. I think the grapefruit oil at the opening is what amplifies the mate & sesame's sharp carroty-ness, and even creates this warm powdery halo for it as well.

adorable musky lemon-scented shampoo :) one of my favourite Memo offerings! I dont get any sesame notes, just lots of aromatic green herbs/florals (I get a prominent creamy peony scent) with juicy citruses and some very soapy musks. I have an older batch of Kedu, great performance and longevity, up to 4 hours on skin and full day on clothes/hair. dries down to a pleasant floral musk. p.s. if you by any chance still have BR540 -try layering these two. its unbelievable how good they work together.

This reminds me very much of Chloe Nomade. I realize this came out first, but I owned Nomade before smelling this. This is everything I wish Nomade would have been. Lighter, fresher, not heavily masculine. This fragrance is beautiful. It smells expensive and like a place I've been that I can't quite put my finger on. I can't stop sniffing my arm. I'll wear my sample a few more times to decide if I need a full bottle. I'll thinking the answer will probably be "yes" though.

It’s just a nice, weak citrusy, floral. It’s a safe blind buy and even for a gift. I don’t love it because this is just another weak Memo fragrance. This could have been great but they chose to make it a skin scent. I have a similar scent from MFK that is much stronger, don’t need Memo’s weaker version. . I wouldn’t buy a full bottle of this one, or any Memo fragrances. There are so many much more beautiful and stronger fragrances I’d rather spend my money on.

Fresh freesia, musk and grapefruit, simply lovely. Projection close to the skin with good longevity. Really interesting smell, because afterwards i can smell some mate and sesame seeds. Not a must have but if you like any of the byredo or even Hermes women's perfumes this is a safe blind buy. Romantic and easy to wear.

Walking44, you are not being over dramatic, this IS the best fragrance I have ever smelled too!!! To me it smells nutty and milky and fresh overall, but... BUT oh my God, it's gorgeous! It does not resemble anything else at all ( and I have smelled and worn a lot of fragrances in my life!). It is simply beautiful.

On me, this is a nearly-not-there scent. It's very nice and I like it, but it's so faint, it's hard to even pinpoint particular notes. Mostly it smells of woody Iris with fizzy citrus and white musk. I really like it a lot, even as faint as it shows on me. A lovely summer iris scent.
