Moon Fever

I know that perfumery is a subjective thing and everybody has their tastes, but honestly the passion with which some reviewers trash fragrances is unbelievable, especially when they seem oblivious to the fact they may need to consider whether their skin's pH is actually the problem. I've smelled many great fragrances on friends and colleagues and tried the same ones over and over at the perfumeries only to be disappointed at the way they smelled on me. To confirm it wasn't my nose causing the issue, I'd ask friends if they'd recommend I buy a bottle of whatever I had tried, and they too would agree that I shouldn't. Anyway...I was given a sample of this and I'd not even heard of the brand, but I tried it and loved it. While it may not be the most complex fragrance described on Fragrantica, I encourage you to try it. I've worn a couple of spritzes from the sample four times already and I've been complimented by men AND women who wanted to know where they could buy it. So I love it, and apparently many others do too. Remember, if a perfume doesn't WOW you the way it did when you smelled it on someone else, the problem may be you, or the person lied to you so they could keep their fragrance a secret (not that I'd do such a thing). :)

I’m only stopping by out of sheer necessity to correct the blatant falsehood regarding the performance described in the second-to-last review: Memo’s Moon Fever does not perform for 15 minutes and then vanish after 3 hours... please let’s not twist such an important aspect for visitors to the website. While it’s true that we are currently living in dark times when it comes to poor performance—which seems to have become a trend across many brands and segments—here we have a citrus fragrance, slightly sweet thanks to its high-quality tonka, that delivers more than decent performance for what it is. No one should expect 18 hours of longevity with 8 hours of projection, but let’s also not put out false ideas worthy of someone who either didn’t actually test the fragrance and just wants to throw hate around, or has the skin of a mummy from the 4th millennium BC.

Bursting with all the citruses, this perfume starts out so energetically, bringing with it a rush of happy vibes. It’s a truly juicy citrus explosion of sweetness and freshness and the feel of sunny days and blue skies. This beautiful beginning stage then segues into an equally nice gentle florals bit supported by the sweetest, friendliest vetiver ever. The florals include orange blossom and primrose, and they just add a layer of gauzy florality to the sweet vetiver, they don’t really announce themselves as Floral with a capital F. These notes are at the perfume’s heart, and the dry down continues this heart but adds some creamy tonka and a gentle leather. This lasts at least 8 hours on the skin and is a fragrance I would call a crowd pleaser- I really can’t imagine anyone taking against it. It’s very universally likeable. It brings no drama, and would be a reliable reach for all those days you need to wear something for yourself and everyone else too.

Amazing for the 15 minutes you can smell it. Moon Fever is a great citrus-white florals scent, and I love the small hint of tonka bean sweetness supporting it, I had no idea tonka could work so well in a scent profile like this. Memo sample cards include a listing with all the notes in the fragrance and they always put the most prominent ones in bold, the leather accord and vetiver being among them for Moon Fever, but to be honest I don't really get any of them here, the lemon, verbena and neroli are far more prominent. Performance is really disappointing and it lets down what's otherwise a great fragrance. Projection and sillage start off moderate at best but mellow out to near nonexistent after about 15-20 minutes. After that this becomes a skin scent until it fades almost entirely 3 hours later.

After a juicy citrus opening, Moon Fever smells of lemon verbena and tonka, with a slight "generic men’s cologne" accord layered underneath. I'm not sure which note creates that effect here. The tonka is sweet but sheer, rather than a dense, chewy gourmand. I really enjoy the verbena here - it makes me want to search for more scents that revolve around that note. Moon Fever is definitely a compliment getter. It's somewhat simple and uncomplicated but it's a good "smell good" scent for the days when weird niche scents can be a bit too much. Unisex. Good projection and longevity. Like.

I was wearing this the other day, and I could not stopped sniffing my self. This is so good, it describes perfectly the name it has. It is citrusy, green, floral, a little spicy. I would say it is a day/night fragrance, it smells good, not overpowering or sexy but definitely a head turner. The opening is a little bitter, but after your nose gets used to it, this will smell divine. Is not a safe buy though.

Yes it does have Eau de Memo vibe. I like this. Where it was tea for EdM, it’s lemon verbena here, and that made it a little green. Beautiful bottle art for the original. Not so beautiful art for the 2022 version. Edit. The on skin spray was gone in about two hours while the on clothing spray was still projecting after ten hours. Edit. After 17 hrs, it became skin scent in the laundry.

It's a citrus bomb at first. The bitter lemony grapefruit reveals itself more than the others. The vetiver appears quickly, it mixes with tonka and leather to leave a sillage a little bit warmer. It's unisex in my opinion. It's a green and humid perfume. This is a basic smell : vetiver on soft leather but these are well-crafted and quality products. My personal note : 6 / 10

A good tame fragrance, but not my speed. Very sharp green in the opening, a bit grassy. Then it settles into the leather. Like a saddle left in a field of dry grass, the sage is definitely there. Dries down into a "new age" herbal shop type of smell. Not bad but like others have said, very basic and calm.

The opening started with strong bitter orange oil and then vetiver merged with it. I can smell leather at the background. It is an icy and cold scent although I don't know where the iciness come from.

cheaper, good alternative to herbes troublantes. it doesn't last either

Moon Fever is an over engineered unisex citrus and aromatic scent, something that is basic for a jacked up price, does this mean the scent is bad or unworthy? That is for the user to decide, but in my opinion I must admit that it is rather lacking for what it should offer for the price it retails for. In terms of the actual scent itself it has merit to it even if it is basic in nature, the opening is heavily aromatic that is softened by the citrus top notes, then the dry down shifts the scent to a brighter citrus feel bringing the scent to its long term form. By the end of the dry down though it smells as though its a softer more passive scent and nowhere near as bold as it should be. In a numerical rating 6/10, it lasts a decent while, but feels so very basic for its price.

A greenish Citrus profile, with hints of Tonka beans and negligible leather. Soft but well formulated.

It's fresh, but it smells more like a home diffuser than a personal fragrance.

Pleasant citrus scent, but nothing extraordinary.

A nice citrus/tonka fragrance, with a noticeable verbena and a subtle sage. The opening is in the same style as many ither contemporary fougere (remotely reminded me of HdP 1725). A "smells good/smells clean" crowdpleasing fragrance, but that the overdose of tonka in the drydown makes it slightly unbalanced imo and generic given the universal use of this note in mainstream perfumery (unfortunately reminding me of another citrus/tonka bestseller: Chanel Allure Sport Extreme - with Memo's being of slightly higher quality, but not higher creativity). Projection is good in the first hour, then quickly decreases as a skin scent after another hour, for a total longevity of ~5hours, thus overall a performance a little too average for that price. Many will love it, but it's not my style, and even if, there are several other options in that style more affordable. In summary: nice but mainstream smelling, thus definitely overpriced for what it is given the cheaper alternatives available. Spring/Fall days, young crowds. Edit: I have to admit that the late drydown (3-4 hours in) has an interesting verbena and bitter leather combo. Still, that alone does not justify the price imo.

FIRST SNIFF: I am immediately reminded of a sound, a chord, multiple notes playing in harmony. Not any chord, but a harmonic chord. There is a standard cologne essence playing at mass but a definitive metallic ting is there too. To personify this scent, it reminds me of the sound made by a large piece of metal when it wobbles (like a saw) creating that hard to describe but purely metallic sound. THE PICTURE IT PAINTS: Sitting in a spa, pleasant scents around me, calming and relaxing, but I am unable to relax or slip away into blissful relaxation because there is a man with a 6-foot metal saw bending it and flexing its length to create a sound that is biting and unable to ignore. Not unpleasent....but very dynamic. IN THE BRAND FAMILY: One of the more interesting scents and names in the crew. Not the star of the line, but one of the most interesting characters. This is not the one I'd choose if I was buying a bottle. But noteworthy and unusual enough to warrant a smelling! Full Bottle worthy? - NO Sample worthy? - YES PARTING THOUGHTS: This is a cool scent if you want an unusual scent experience. I do not think any passers-by would pick up in the duality I described, they'd likely smell it as a standard sporty fresh aquatic scent. I believe there are better options for this kind of scent out there with better longevity. Consider one of the Diptyque scents as an alternative to this.

It opens with a simple, clean citrus-aromatic vibe, but it very soon settles into a fluffy tonka and suede base. It's a bit musky and powdery, though it stays aromatic throughout. It's interesting and much more complex than I initially thought. I find the combination of tonka and aromatic notes really intriguing because of the contrast of cold and warm. I wrote it off quickly at first, but there’s actually something interesting and complex here. At first sniff, it comes off as a fougère, and kind of a retro one (not really in a good way), but once the base notes come through it completely changes. I even pick up something nutty in the heart. It’s a very non-linear fragrance, really fascinating. I don’t think the name suits it, it’s a bit misleading because I don't find the scent to be cold at all. Well, I'm starting to understand the hype around Memo.

I received a sample of this a long time ago. Had totally forgotten about it, but am wearing it now. The first spray is very uplifting. As mentioned this is definitely for the citrus lover, and also fans of leather fragrances. I get an initial blast of lemon zest moreso than grapefruit, but as time goes on the citrus quality becomes more grapefruit-y to me. The leather is subtle and backed by sage & vetiver; reminds me a bit of saddle-soaped leather. Very clean, very nice. I'm not sure why, but the name and the packaging are VERY savvy and the scent transports me to a field at night, marveling at the stars and fireflies in the distant bushes. The overall aroma is year-round friendly but if you let it, the name and bottle will make you think "fall evenings". My first time trying this house, and I'm definitely pleased. I will definitely be trying others.

Was strolling Nk Stockholm perfumery the day before my race in September. Found Memo Paris scents as a new line for Nk. Love the Moon and therefore totally random picked Moon Fever. I was amazed. Fresh and smooth with an edge from start. I like these kind of fresh combined with a powdery depth. They are easy to wear for both day and evening dressing. As I always treat myself with a New perfume after this race every year I couldn't walk away. Bought that pricey in an instant. Cause after all those training sessions I'm worth it . The sales girl told me I was the first one in Sweden to buy it. Liked the idea ! and had a great race and fun nicesmelling night out in Stockholm, the day after ... @aparfumistas_diary @evacecilias
