Vaadhoo

I see people confused by the association with the Maldives. I've never been there, but the internet tells me it is very warm and very humid. This fragrance really shines in heat and high humidity- so maybe it doesn't smell *like* the Maldives, but would smell amazing if worn there. I don't experience the breakdown to a generic or weak base that a few others mention. It stays unique and engaging and cuts through thick wet warm air with a deeply earthy but also unusually bright combination- with the herbs and ginger really coming through. And it stays strong for hours- it is not a wallflower. I am surprised to see any reviews saying it shrinks to weakness in a short time- perhaps the weather makes a big difference with this one. I see why there are upvotes for reminds me of Unutamam, which I also love, but this is much fresher and brighter for me. I love it- especially in the swampy humid days. Available at the discount sites as well.

Super sexy, perfect for a man on a date night! Oh, I have to admit, I usually dislike cardamom notes in fragrances but Vaadhoo on my husband is simply WOW!!! It is warm and spicy, a little bit floral and oh so elegantly sexy. Think James Bond in a tux when he's gambling at Casino Royale, that's the vibe my nose gets from this fragrance. It smells so good in the current hot, humid & rainy weather of Mumbai and I can only imagine how amazing it would smell on a crisp winter day.

First whiff in a long time, my mind immediately goes to the freshness in the “odor” of a horse stable specifically. Might be due to the heavy ginger along with an ever so slight hint at oud. I love it though. I think the fresh scent in horse stables is very cozy. Can’t get enough of Vaadhoo and I absolutely love wearing it. I feel pride in wearing it. One of the best ginger fragrances and ginger is my favorite note. All good.

Zingy opening with Ginger, Rhubarb and Bergamot. The Vetiver floats throughout this fragrance. In the heart, Safforn, Geranium, Jasmine and Violet Leaves, give a warm, spicey floral hug. Drying down to a Oud, Cedar, Vetiver, Vanilla and Patchouli, for an earthy, warm, green, sweet and spicey trail. It really takes you on an interesting journey as the fragrance wears. I really enjoy this!

This is a beautiful, refined, balanced fragrance. The right kind of oud-less oud perfume for any season. It reminds me very much of Baudelaire from Byredo, which was sadly discontinued. It also somehow makes me think of FM's Promise. It is the perfect companion for sitting in front of the sea in autumn (as I do now) but would work in any season because of its airiness. Excellent.

Vaadhoo was a blind buy for me, and it completely surprised me in the best way. It smells like the air right after a violent tropical storm somewhere near a jungle: wet, green, humid and a little wild. The longevity is incredible, the projection is massive, and it also gets me a lot of compliments. PLEASE, give it a try, at least on skin! You will thank me later!

Smelt this in a shop. Very nice opening with a pleasant aroma of ginger and basil. Have no idea why the bottle has starfish and a sea theme to it does not smell like the sea. Have no idea what the drydown is like but nice opening. 8/10

Tested a lot om memo lately and this one has the typical memo dna, beautiful opening as always, almost reminds me of a beach with warm comforting sand very aromatic, i like it.

Its a spicy, floral gentleman scent.. though woman can wear this too.. but i think it leans more masculin.. the vetiver in this is so goegeous! Love it!

Smoky Carmex; A coniferous Absorbine Jr; Like sniffing a dry teabag of Sleepytime. The opening is highly spicy, woody, and aromatic. Leather, and resin... from where I do not know. Immortelle, vetiver, and moss are most pronounced on me. (Yum.) About 20 minutes in, the blend really comes together. The basil sings. There’s a hint of sweetness. I get subtle florals, a gentle spike of rhubarb, dense spices, and cannabis. No cannabis note listed, but that’s precisely what this composition on the whole brings to my mind. I’m truly taken with it. Intoxicating and intense - yet so gloriously soft and smooth. Ultracozy. Completely addictive. A masculine-leaning gem on my skin. Just wish for a little more longevity. Dries down to basically an inoffensive House of BŌ-like oud after just a couple hours.

This isn't oud as someone says below. It's the v powerful immortelle w even stronger vetiver over it. I dislike immortelle immensely; the spicy and vetiver are interesting. Will try in hot humidity as the review below suggests though I fear that heat will amplify the footy, rancid honey notes of immortelle. Weirdly not v green despite the vetiver funk.

Memo's website describes this as oud hallucination. Oakmoss, oud, patchouli, and immortelle are the main notes I experience. What this has to do with the Maldives I have no idea. It would be nice for a crisp autumn day in New York.

This reminded me of Hermes Vetiver Tonka, spicy with the vetiver that is mainly present. Interesting perfume but definitely not my taste.

I blind bought this because it was on sale after buying it I realized it’s been discontinued and upon receiving it I can see why lol absolutely terrible so musty and earthy does perform but like you don’t want it to with how bad it smells do not buy this please unless you want a fragrance that just smells like vetiver and patchouli. This is my first memo Paris fragrance and I’m nervous to order another one now lol

Terrible....clearly no one from Memo has been to the Maldives or otherwise they would not have created such a heavy horrible scent. I have been 8 times to the Maldives to different islands each time and this scent does would be unwearable there and in no way does the smell remind me or make me think of the Maldives. ....perhaps Memo don't actually know where the Maldives are?

The ginger is so strong 😔 not crazy about this one.

Vaadhoo has a promising opening with a cacophony of characterful aniseed notes. However all too soon it dries down to a pleasant, alluring though far too subtle and fragile aroma. If only sillage and longevity were greater then this scent would be a far more viable option both for wearing and relative to the price tag. Nonetheless, it is well crafted and complex but perhaps something of a missed opportunity to create that magical experience promised.

This smells like I have a cold that’s slowly turning into bronchitis and I’m applying Vicks vaporub on myself while I’m smoking cigarettes..... or chewing tobacco either one. Idk where these reviews are coming from. This is horrible.
