05 Candle Lit Evening

Candle Lit Evening is sweet and lovely. It opens with a delightful booziness, courtesy of the bourbon vanilla (more bourbon, less vanilla). The rose quickly fills out the body of the fragrance, taking the form of honeyed, sugar-dusted rose petals. The sweetness isn’t syrupy or thick; it isn’t the kind of sugaryness that makes my teeth hurt. The bourbon vanilla is subtle but noticeable throughout. I am kind of surprised that I like it as much as I do. It brings something new to my collection of rose-centric fragrances. It’s also a good value for a well-blended fragrance with good performance. Definitely feminine.

This fragrance is honestly... special. Three notes sound so simple, but these are in perfect balance. Well-blended, inviting, comforting, evokes emotion - and a full bottle is ONLY 60$?! A deep crisp rose dipped in sugar, modern and warm- candied by honey. Honey as almost a “nectar” accord here, the dream of honey- not the actual note of honey, which is probably what turns the volume down on this scent and relays it as a crowd-pleasing, yet unique little work of art. Remains close to you, personal. With decent longevity. Romantic, alluring, silky, theres personality here.

Heady sweet rose that somehow has that deep, synthetic, musk-oud accord that everyone will recognize (despite its absence in the listed notes). Still, Candle Lit Evening is predominantly about a juicy, ruby red rose on a slightly rubbery honey (better than it sounds!). Just a hint of woods behind it. Love it! Unfortunately not very long lasting but it is cheap and easy to top up again.

If you are looking for straight up roses dipped in honey, look no further. This is my kind of rose. Smells like a bouquet of David Austin Roses, sweetened with honey. I don’t really get bourbon, I just get honey and roses and an okay with that. Not a powdery Rose, not a soapy rose. Just fresh rose blooms. It is so lovely!

This is pretty, especially for the price. I am not a fan of the boozy opening, however that doesn't last long. It then turns into an almost clean rose for a short time before turning into sugar coated rose petals with a slight patchouli base. When fully dried down, I just get sweet rose with a touch of honey. I've had this on for about four hours and it's a soft yet comforting classy scent now. I would say this is pretty for a time (day or night) out or at home with friends. She's cute with a slight depth while still being relatively casual. She is a simple a classy sugary rose and I can't be mad that I have it in my collection

Boozy, spicy rose. I bought this for my grandmother, & when I went for a visit my aunt tried it on she said, “Boozy”. I definitely smell the bourbon & spice & rose. I enjoyed it, although it would not be my signature fragrance, it would be good for a night out with the boozy & spicy notes.

Bought this blind because it was deeply discounted; I feel like maybe I got a bad batch or something?Whenever I spray this, I get a whiff of something fake & chemical-y, almost like burnt plastic. Underneath that is a sweet, very linear scent. The honey comes through but has no depth, and the rose is very generic. I don't get any bourbon-- or maybe that's the "off" note I've been smelling. Really wanted to like this but sadly it's not for me, and certainly wouldn't consider this a safe blind buy.

This is an okay scent. Nothing to get excited about. It is rose heavy but otherwise a thin scent and a thin experience. I wouldn't even say the the rose was a "good" rose scent. Someone that created this associates candle lit evenings with roses, but since I do not, I didn't get the atmosphere I was looking for with this scent. The bourbon vanilla is barely there. Not a safe blind buy. I think I will drop kick my bottle into the charity box.

Either they changed up the formulation or I perceive smells differently than others, but I don't get any honey and very little vanilla. What I do get is a fairly "standard" rose-oud scent. Not bad but also not anything amazing. I was hoping to get more of a boozy, honeyed rose as I have enough oud-y rose perfumes. However, for the $12.99 I spent on it at TJ Maxx I'm not complaining....well, maybe complaining a little bit....

Too sweet for me - I liked it on paper but as soon as I put it on I feel like it gave me a stomach ache for the rest of the night. Might work for some people but the honey was a bit much for me.

I found this on clearance at TJ Maxx, and I so desperately wanted to love it. I love rose vanilla and honey scents, so this sounded perfect. I love the name and description. It seems like a great date night fragrance. Unfortunately, the booze note was way too much for me. It was so overpowering. I loved the rose and honey combo, but the booze ruined it. It made a sour note that completely cut through the floral and sweet. I was hoping the note would calm down to a tolerable level, but it never did. I did ended up trading this one with a friend, so hopefully they love it. I didn't absolutely hate it, but I am disappointed.

Whew! I could smell this perfume before I even opened the box!! A heavy, vintage potpourri-type rose totally dominates the scent. It's an overwhelmingly strong "old lady perfume." There is nothing sweet or gentle about this. It piques my interest, though, to encounter a rose-dominated fragrance that's designed to be unisex. Maybe this would be better approached from a masculine point of view? I don't know. Hard pass for me.

This smells like a waxy candle indeed. It’s not the name that suggests this to my nose, indeed, there is an unrefined note that lends a certain waxy-ness to this fragrance. The rose in this is drowning in the honeyed-syrupy mess. It’s too bad because this could have been a real beauty. Oh well... Not a recommendation from me...

this is nasty, on my skin it smells like medicine too me with a hint of waxy candles I don't like it AT ALL this is not a safe blind buy. Do not be fooled by the notes. It's not even sweet.

A scent your great grandmother would love. Would not repurchase this or anything else with these notes.

Smells cheap and thin. Rose potpourri, and not in a pleasant way. Sorry.

Negative reviewers are right, this is cloying old lady perfume. I can think of so many better rose perfumes, this one just makes me nauseous.

Found this on clearance at a grey market site. I like the brand's ideology of making atmospheric scents, a la Demeter, Maison Martin Margiela, and Solstice Scents. Official description: rose bouquet, sweet bourbon, and honey. Mine: waxy unisex rose. It's intriguing because that rose accord -- red, not powdery, slightly sweet -- is right alongside a waxy note that is hard to make sense of: maybe it's lipstick, maybe it's a beeswax candle. I also get a whiff of something aromatic, like whiskey or scotch or liqueur. The fragrance itself doesn't immediately invoke the essence of a candlelit evening to me but it does do something like that because the power of suggestion is strong. It leans more feminine than masculine to my nose and whatever is going is pleasant enough to see if my impressions change in different weather or temperature conditions. The sprayer is pretty broken, though. Might have to decant it into a new sprayer bottle.

The description of the notes is exactly what I was looking for. I’m still trying to get my nose to love it. Maybe it is my body chemistry—-on me this and Love Fest Burning Cherry smell indistinguishable. How can than be? I think that has to do with the molecular structure that causes some people to smell “bandaids” in trending scent profiles. Anyway— I layer this with Kim K Honey and wear it when I’m home and cozy. It was almost FREE from Ipsy. And I cannot resist anything with a honey note.

I get more spicy carnation than rose. If Caron made a lighter, updated Bellodgia. I like vintage fragrances, so this is pretty to me.

I get a honeyed, lightly sweet, waxy, tea-rose scent. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t say it’s anything special, either. 4/10

Smells like Lost Cherry to me.
