06 Cabin Retreat

Yup — Cabin Retreat is exactly what it promises to be: a cozy but fresh, easygoing, everyday wear sandalwood scent that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It leans more masculine, but in a soft, approachable way that I can easily layer to add a touch of femininity when I want it. This is the kind of fragrance you can spray without thinking, and it just works. For me, this is a true daily‐wear scent for my man because we run a farm, and nothing about it feels offensive or out of place in that environment. Our horses aren’t going to run away or get ornery from an olfactory overload. It’s fresh woods — clean, smooth, and gentle — not a heavy, smoky cabin fantasy. Honestly, I was expecting deeper, richer woods, but apparently my “cabin retreats” in real life have been a little dustier than this. On a man, this would pair amazingly with a leather fragrance for a bit more masculine power. That combo would be chef’s kiss — rugged, fresh with a little bit of umph. And the price? Are you kidding me? For what it is, this is a total win for a daily spritz. Cozy fresh, wearable, budget‐friendly, and farm‐approved.

This is my comfort scent, especially in cooler weather. The cedar & sandalwood are so lovely together, and the oakmoss gives it an earthy depth. Personally, I don't get anything dirty or fungal from this. To me it's a heartwoody redolence that emerges in the warmth of the sun, not from the damp forest floor. After a few hours on my skin the woodsy notes develop a sweeter, almost airy tone. I tend to favor fragrances with a few key notes that weave together well, and this absolutely does that for a great price. Good longevity, moderate sillage, and with this sandalwood I detect only a hint of dill at first that quickly fades away. I believe this is a unisex scent, though it might skew slightly masculine for some. I don't care, I just love smelling like the woods. Better for cool weather than warm, but I do sometimes wear it even in the high heat of summer because I just miss it.

I love this scent so much. I would consider this my signature scent. It's pretty affordable (<60$ for 100mL), and they sell a body spray version at Walmart for around five dollars now. I like to use the body spray on the daily with a spritz of the perfume on my wrists in the morning. It smells very oakmoss-y and the cedar comes through as well. I don't pick up the sandalwood so much, though. Theres a spicy-ness to it that I don't see listed in the notes or accords, but I pick up on when I first apply the perfume. I don't notice it in the body spray though. I lean away from feminine smells and looks for more androgynous-leaning-masculine scents. This is the perfect sweet spot for masculine without being COLOGNE, if you know what I mean. Good for people who don't want to smell like a lady but also don't want to smell like teenage boy or seventy year old man.

This is my favorite perfume ever. I’ve gone through two bottles of it wearing almost every day. It is definitely more of a fall/winter scent but I typically wear all year round because I haven’t found anything I like better. Cannot even tell how many compliments I get about this perfume. I adore this scent but it is not my everyday. I think it smells like hiking in the redwoods. It is super masculine but I really like it for women because it still just smells very natural and earthy. Not for everyone but if you want to smell like a Hozier song this is a good one.

When I scoured the reviews and most were positive, it was suspicious, but a miracle happened: it's Santal 33 for cheap. It lasts 24 hours on clothes, 6 hours on skin. I adore this fragrance not only in the cold season and it is definitely unisex.

i had this and holy hell its amazing. safe blind but and i love woody scents and as a male this does not smell girly at all idk why this is considered a perfume. but anyways a easy 10/10 colgone

I discovered this one seeking to satisfy my deep love for woody notes but also to add a woody layer to some of my perfumes that I wish had that woodsy tone and this is perfect for that! I can wear just Cabin retreat by itself for that soft woody musk scent alone or I can add depth and a touch of cozy warm woods to most any other sweet or floral perfume in my collection. It fits more into autumn and winter and early spring but you follow the rules of your nose and personality, noone gets to tell you how to live 😁 Great value for the size and lasting power is excellent 6 to 8 hrs on skin and longer on clothes 🔋

Got this really cheaply. Testing today and I'm getting very good lasting power on it, contrary to the reviews here. Dry down has a nice warm ambery glow to it that's really comforting and addictive. The cedar is very nice and does just enough without stepping into the pickle juice territory, thanks to the supporting notes.

This is actually very good unisex fragrance that leans a little masculine. It is very reminiscent of Bon Parfumeurs 502 Iris Cartagena minus the cacao note. Idk, perhaps there is a little cacao in there? It’s excellent and the bottles are also very similar to BP.

ADORE. I'm always here for a good unisex scent and that is exactly this. There is a slight note of pickles, but it isn't too pickly. It's woody and bright at the same time!

It has a time and a place, I suppose. It has a STRONG fungal note, which is presumably from the oakmoss. It doesn't smell bad by any means, but I'm just not sure why you'd want to walk around smelling like a mushroom. It doesn't evoke a cabin nearly as much as it does a decaying forest floor, which is interesting in its own right, I guess, but be aware of what you're getting into before you buy it. 6/10

Disappointing. I got pulled in by the name. It does not smell like a woodsy cabin. It's mostly sandalwood, and a light frothy one too. Yes, it's a clone for Le Labo Santal 33, but I can never understand the excitement for that either. When I want a sandalwood fragrance, I reach for several incarnations of Floris' Santal. I'd like to find a bottle of a good Mysore Sandalwood that smells like they did in the 1960's and 1970's, but none of those are around anymore. I didn't buy Cabin Retreat thinking it was going to be mysore sandalwood; I'm just throwing that comment out here.

This smells delicious. Great buy. It's fresh, sweet, and aromatic. I smell nothing off-putting. Nothing lasts long on me, so I don't even bother with that aspect anymore. I live and love in the moment. The woody smell is most prevalent sweetened by sandal wood, I guess. I got this in a mash up discovery kit without requesting it and as soon as I smelled it, I bought a large bottle; I knew we were bffs. Sometimes, life gives us what we want without even knowing we want it.

Definitely cedar and sandalwood and fairly long lasting at that, a surprise at this price point. I highly recommend for those who enjoy unisex style sandalwood. It is also a cousin of SJP's Stash, if simpler. Although the opening notes reminded me of men's cologne, in the heart it becomes wholly unisex. Walmart is carrying this line for Christmas at an unbelievable price point. Recommended.
