Lost in the Desert

Will you forgive me if I just write "This is so good" and then add "gosh, this is good" without taking my nose out of my wrist? Lost in the Desert Memoirs Of A Perfume Collector made it to me. Smoky, woody vanilla that I have been longing for, and I was speechless at how perfect it is. The packaging is very elegant, with nice details like a picture on the back. The backbone of the fragrance is oud and it greets me at the doorstep with a strong leathery breeze, but without a hint of animalic connotation, as it settles on the skin woody and chocolaty nuances emerge that remind me of chocolates with almond liqueur - I'm lost in the desert with a dessert. Yes, it is gourmand and delicious, but not dense. None of the above, the scent has many intriguing layers and is perfectly balanced. The almondy sweetness probably comes from a vanilla pompona used in this fragrance. The next layer evokes the dry, warm atmosphere of the desert with balsamic, smoky myrrh, a heady jasmine and bourbon vanilla. Lost in the Desert unfolds beautifully on men's skin and I find it completely unisex. The projection is not huge, the scent does not scream, but envelops with warmth and leaves an elegant, mysterious veil for hours.

First of all this and XO Brandy (navitus parfums) are the best fragrance purchases of 2021!!!. Secondly, the notes are wrong on this. There is no ambroxan in the base. Instead it has frankinsence. Also the mid doesn't have cedar!. Wondering where fragrantica got its notes from🤔🤔. Now as for this fragrance, the name couldn't be anymore fitting!. The bourbon vanilla in it gives off a sort of dusty malt vibe which when coupled with the other notes such as Myrrh, Indian Jasmine, Oud and Vanilla Pompana can present a very elegant/powerful woodsy accord transporting the wearer to a beautiful hot desert. It can really boost ones confidence as you will feel like 💰. It's loud and in your face, yet soft and alluring. Believe me, it is one you DO NOT want to miss😉. The performance on this is absolutely astronomical!!, DO NOT OVERSPRAY!.

I'm not sure what fragrance the below poster is smelling . . .but it certainly isn't Lost In The Desert! Opulent, woody vanilla that is so unique and out of this world beautiful. Easily worn by either sex. Multi layered . . .enjoy the ride. Others around you certainly will! My best find in quite awhile!

Mysterious and elegant. Very unique and intriguing perfume. Great for both gender.

Intensely classy sweet-vanilla oud with a few upscale-oriental twangs of other woods and resin to fancy it up even more. Recognisably the most 'conventional' and femme-friendly of the MOAPC line - not as adventurous as some of the rest, not striking out into real pastures new or truly exotic journeys, but a seriously worthwhile trip all the same. Nothing feral, stinky or animalic about the oud aspect; this is 'tamed' oud, heavily controlled with myrrh and frankincense so it's just adding a solid woody layer beneath the sweetness. Even the sweetness is well under control, with that vanilla kept pleasantly dusty-dry and not cloying. Doesn't quite set my heart alight (maybe I'm missing more spice or stink, to inject something unexpected for a jolt of the shock of the new?) - but it's a solid, honest, well-engineered vehicle to get you to Classy Vanilla territory on the map, and to keep you there long enough to be worth the fare. Reminded me oddly of Floris Honey Oud and Goutal's 1001 Ouds; doesn't smell much like either, but the general aura of high-class sweet gourmand oud that entirely skips the rose is similar. Cost is high but quality is perceptible, its scent bubble is nicely robust and its sillage strong, and longevity really impressive (12-16h at least on skin, longer on fabrics). Can gather compliments from strangers (!). (PSA: Obviously a lot of reviewers below are getting the 'stinging, nose-burning' reaction to ambroxan; if you don't share that physiological response, you'll be fine. It seemed totally conciliatory to me - muscular enough not to be called 'mild' but definitely not hostile in any way. )

A lovely, sophisticated, unisex gourmand scent. I really like that it doesn’t travel into “too-edible” territory though. Medium longevity I’d say. I don’t really get the citrus but the other elements seem well balanced and share the stage. This brand has a marketing problem though. I got the sample set and 3 of the vials have different names than the products listed here. I don’t know what is up with that but it was very confusing. I judged from how the notes should smell to decide which was which.

Testing this and I don’t get much burning rubber smell. It smells along the lines of Tauer’s le air du desert marocain (and the extrait coeur version) and that type of scent. I certainly don’t get anything crazy or offensive. That said, this is too similar to many other fragrances so I don’t need it since I have both of the above mentioned scents.

Unfortunately a rather unpleasant fragrance. The frankincense is really overpowering and honestly nauseating, there's little nuances of Arabian perfumery but you have to really get up close and try to find in the midst of this excessive frankincense its just blegh. At the dry down there is some beauty to this fragrance deep down and I quite like it, this lovely warm vanallic interpretation of the Arabian desert but it takes hours of drying down to get to that point. This is not at all blind buy safe. Also there is no prominent oud smell if you're curious about that. To my nose at least. Performance is quite potent

I wanted to like this based on the notes. So glad I did not blind buy this. I get a ton of burning animalic oud on my skin with undertones of Smokey vanilla. This just is not for me! Super Scrubber. I Had to wash this off with Dawn power wash soap and oil to get rid of it!

Not enough oud or vanilla lacks depth I end up having to layer to bolster the fragrance as a whole

Mark me down for yet another “searing, burning, nose hair singeing, eye watering, burnt rubber smell.” I WOULD have immediately scrubbed it but wanted to give it the old college try and left it on as long as I could, (maybe 30 minutes) where it just turned into a slightly fainter searing, burning, nose hair singeing, eye watering, burnt rubber smell. Maybe this is like Cilantro. Some love it, but to some it smells like soap. Ha! I only wish this smelled like soap. I’ve a scrubbed twice, still smell it. Horrendous!

Respectfully... what the fuck is this opening? I have a hard time believing I'm the only one getting a searing, burning, nose hair singeing, eye watering, burnt rubber smell. There's a feeble undercurrent of vanilla underneath, but it's certainly not worth the assault on the senses that it starts with. Looking at the other reviews, I'm very confused. I hope I just got a bad batch.

Probably the worst perfume I have ever smelled. I don't know how I can even call it a perfume. It smells of burnt ashes and burning rubber and very strongly so. I detect no vanilla, no florals, nothing but ash and burnt rubber and horrible burning chemically plastic. Truly disgusting and the only perfume I've ever had to scrub

Dancing to the rhythm of the blazing sun I set out on a journey across the winding silken dunes of the Arabian desert. Its fluid curves stretch for miles and miles on end and beyond. Its natural beauty and solitude is both terrifying and magnificent. It is a land of possibilities. Storms of sand guiding the way to an oasis of love. Fragrant spirals of the bustling souq unveil a buried olfactive treasure. Thick, woozy fiery-red scent of cayenne pepper, an array of colourful spices piled into cone-shaped pyramids and crisp bergamot fill the air. The vanilla pompona buffers the slightly bitter and citric opening. This sensation of heat and the vanilla note is used to great effect and is carried through and develops into the heart. The floral accents dry out before they can blossom and lay buried beneath rich layers of bourbon vanilla imbued with spices, dried fruit and a hint of golden tobacco leaf. Combined they deliver an elegant scent with a subtle medicinal sweetness of myrrh and welcoming earthy undertones. It is like a beautiful transition of the evening glow that bathes in high oranges and reds before the night consumes it all.

For the reviewer talking about the nose-burning rubbery note: you are not alone; I smell it too. I'm PRETTY sure it's the ambroxan (although it might be the oud), which, for an unfortunate subset of us, hits us in the sinuses like sniffing a mix of smoke and rubbing alcohol. For those who don't have this issue: I envy you, as you get to enjoy more scents. Beyond that note, this scent does have a lot of incensey-oud-vanilla promise, so - enjoy! If your nose works that way.

Quite simply this smells of Burnt rubber or plastic. It is terrible, i tried to wash this off in the shower with mild effect, the smell lingered for well over 8 - 10 hours. I went on Fragrantica to see what reviewers had put on as well, and some were the same as me "burning". Would i wear it ? No Would i buy it ? No

lovely, smooth, and curious opening - with a dry-down that is otherworldly - understatedly beautiful
