Ego

Beauty and the beast! I received this fragrance as a blind buy with it being a steal , I thought why not. What a hit! Upon first spray it was a complete no, very stemmy and green, exactly what’s is like when your chopping off the flower stems to fit in your vase, hard pass. Fast forward 10 minutes later I’m starting to get some sweet fig and coconut with remnants of the opening but retains some freshness to avoid it being cloying , 20mins in I’m in heaven. Reminds me of Diptyque’s Philosykos but I’ve not had much joy with diptyque in general regarding performance. The one thing that shocked me is the performance. I’ve got some heavy hitters in my wardrobe but after 3 hrs and only 3 sprays I had to take a shower just to give my nose a break as it just kept pumping out just as strong as the beginning in fact it just seemed to get even stronger. This is definitely one you need to spray at least 20 mins before you go out to let it settle first but if your like me and your skin eats fragrance then this will definitely stick with you. Absolutely love it. I need to explore more of this house. Edit. Third day in a row of wearing, this is becoming a strong love.

This is my second blind buy fragrance from this house, and man am I impressed! I love fig. And I love patchouli. But I've never experienced them put together quite like this. This fragrance is simultaneously fresh, green AND oriental with fig leaf and patchouli at center stage. Coconut milk mellows both out a little and gives the scent that creaminess that goes so well with fig leaf and sap. Cassis gives it a note of green, leafy sweetness that is a touch too bitter to be sugary. Amber and a bit of soft wood ground the composition. It is linear, but LOVELY. The individual notes and sillage are strong, clear, and artfully blended. Ego is unique, unisex, and fresh - but dark and woodsy/spicy enough for colder weather. This is my new go-to autumn and winter fig, and I can't wait to spritz it on my cashmere jumpers. The other fragrance I have from this house, Artem, is also absolutely beautiful with the same monster staying power of Ego so I guess I will have to get more of these scents. Where has Memoize been all my life?

Ego by Memoize opens like a slap of green fig and sharp cassis, then melts into creamy coconut and woods. Fresh yet deep, sweet but not soft. It’s giving: ‘I know who I am, and so will you.’
