Era

Having just discovered the brand Memoize London, I was shocked that i actually liked all 8 perfumes they have launched. Seem to be really quite a balanced range. And great longevity. I got my hands on their sample set. Im going to work my way through the samples and find out my favourites. Era is really powerful and lasts a long time on the skin. Apparently the 100ml bottles have this mist spray pump which sounds really cool. Will review the others as i try them over the week.

This fragrance is all about balance. Era somehow conveys a misty, hazy, frosted glass, translucent vibe to me. Both creamy and warmly exotic, sweet but also sour and with a slightly funky edge. The opening is quite discrete but the overwhelming smell in here is oud. The combination in the opening is mainly a iris/leather/saffron but it's not that extremely earthy, sharp saffron, just to stress again it appears in a very complementary dose. As this kinda satin, gourmand leather settles and the iris dies quickly, I get the oud and it's almost that cheesy (I quite literally mean cheese) smell of 70's flat-pack furniture, seriously! Slightly barnyard but not all the way and perfectly fitting for this perfume giving it some animalic edge. The drydown is a very familiar accord to me but I can't place what perfumes it reminds me of. I get a sugared, sweetness of a powdery amber, almost ambergris meets synthetic (maybe even ambroxan) then with the oud coming on strong in a kind of heady, Arabic sort of way. This is a very luxurious composition, which at first you might think could be a shrinking violet, not lasting or projecting but you'd be very wrong, this thing is a real silent killer, just speaking even more to the quality of the ingredients. I've sampled the whole line but this is my first experience actually wearing one and I've got to say they are very Impressive brand, and era is a great example. I've got a sneaking suspicion that Era will be a polarising/marmite type affair. I love so Marmite so it's all good.

Spicy floral fragrance with big and bold leathery oud in the base that smells a bit like cannabis to me. It’s quite dry and boozy. Also I would say that it’s an elegant fragrance and even though it’s powerful you wouldn’t chock on it. My ig: scent.guide

Kind of a moody, dark floral spicy oud. I honestly thought there was vetiver in here at first, but after a second blind test it was more woody powdery and not so much smokey. I think it was the myrrh throwing me off. Ylang-ylang to me always gives a feminine lean to a fragrance but here I don't get that sense as much. It comes across as unisex but androgynous might be more fitting (I'm going to keep you guessing)? It has a nighttime appeal, and says we're having dark liquor, however you like it. As appealing as it is something about the powder iris, myrhh, or saffron keep me from loving it more.

As others have mentioned, this is a very balanced fragrance. It reminds me of a earthy path in the meditarrean with cypresses and some almost sandalwood accents. To bad I really dislike the cypresses. Certainly a fragrance which is elegant with substance but not too overpowering. Depending on the amount used I think it suits everyday use as well as for going out for dinner etc.
