A melancholy emerges with this fragrance,very evocative and gives me a sense of melancholy and memories of beautiful days... this perfume is a poem an indelible essence that can not be forgotten. Start with a beautiful and powerful saffron and thyme. Oud's note gives a slight "darkness" to the scent, an interesting depth. I cannot get my head round this one. It is a nostalgic, poetic scent. Picture this: Wuthering Heights scenery, meadows, dry and pleasant wind blowing in my face, I get some thyme and saffron at the beginning. Later the the notes blend beautifully and the magic happens. Love it to bits...

A mysterious and softly evocative Oriental spice creation from the eclectic Mendittorosa line, this is a subtle and restrained creation that takes some getting used to before fully enjoying. The perfume opens with notes of cloves, nutmeg, saffron (prominent) and incense. The heart is floral herbal composed of jasmine, carnation, thyme and ravensara. The base is woody musky with notes of sandalwood, musk, woody notes and agarwood. In spite of so many notes the juice is very restrained and subtle and has a distinct feminine aura to it. It is also moderate in terms of projection, sillage and longevity. A perfume for quiet introspection and reflection. Enjoy!

Saffron? where? The saffron finds itself hidden well behind the néroli! It is about a flavor(perfume) of néroli as George (Jardin d'Ecrivain ) it is done properly for whom the néroli loves!!!

It seems that the core structure of most of the Mendittorosa's offerings is a smooth dry woody base that while feeling unquestionably synthetic, it's also well handled to never feel overly dry or sharp as too often happens with these kind of bases. Alfa makes no exception and offers yet another take on the spicy oriental theme. A mildly floral opening paired to some culinary herbs is what you get in the early stages. The herbs (mainly thyme) feel extremely aromatic and yet, somehow, they don't border into apothecary / rustic territories. The floral note is remarkable and while the fragrance is marketed as a feminine composition, it feels completely unisex. A vaguely leathery vibe, probably provided by saffron breaks in in the middle phase and it's supported by a smooth, kind of transparent woody-incense base that seems to be the real essence of the whole fragrance. It smells very nice if you like restrained woody-orientals but, in my opinion, it's a bit too weak and safe to warrant its very demanding price. After the promising opening, the fragrance falls pretty flat really too soon to then basically disappear from my skin after less than a couple of hours. The accords are nice enough (in a "average niche quality" meaning) but, again, a little more character and courage would have played in the fragrance's favor. Basically a spicy oriental on a diet. Rating: 5.5-6/10

Alfa and Omega remind me of gourmet cotton candy, with its complex flavors overlaid on a familiar, delicious and textured base. Alfa and Omega have the same powdery vanillic woody base accord flavored with different ingredients. Alfa is flavored with a green animalic leather, offset by fresh outdoorsy tones and the slight vanilla hint to the woods. It's best sprayed from far away over a large area of your body so that you get diffuse whiffs that remind one of being outside on a summer day, pollen in the air and maybe something sweet to eat. It's very pleasant and more challenging than Omega because the contrast of the animalic leather and vanilla woods is slightly dissonant at first. Whenever I wear either I am told I smell good. Compared to a proper French perfume there's something childlike here in the perfume's expression, simple and clever and appealing, but no less complex or inviting than a proper perfume. Like gourmet cotton candy, its got a special brand of elegance.

oh good god this saffron is atomic! a while back, on a trip to greece, i bought saffron grown in greece (from kozani), and it was housed in a weird, plastic slide-open box, much like a traditional matchbox. anyway, after i'd returned home, i tried to open this plastic box and i couldn't cos it was stuck. i manage to create a lever of sorts and managed to open the box, and when i did, i got ALMOST this scent. almost. this dry, sorta spicy, sorta dry-leathery, hard to pin down. that's what this scent is and reminds me of. i love how scent is inextricably linked to memory and experience.

Someone said medicinal saffron, and YES. It’s another weird one from this house and I’m all for it. Saffron is inherently weird to me. It’s got a plastic bag smell alongside honey floral. Add thyme and you’ve got a plague elixir. I’m partial to naturals, scent journeys, skin scents. Another person said it’s not like a French perfume, and again I agree. And I find I prefer these articulated challenging moments, like chapters in a book, more than I like grand symphonies. I like my music this way too: experimental, minimalist, lush production, punk

This is a very strange scent, I can detect some notes but it is very quiet and I don’t mean quiet in terms of performance but as a scent it doesn’t feel very aromatic or flavorful, the main things I get are aldehydes, saffron, thyme, nutmeg and powdery florals, but as a scent, it feels like cotton, a spicy cotton if that makes sense.

the only thing I can smell is medicinal aggressive saffron, yikes!
