Id

My sister brought this home for me a good year and a half ago, after her trip abroad. She knew I wanted something special. Something I could not get here. But she is not wise to the perfume 'scene' and when she sent me a picture of Tom Ford White Patchouli, my heart sank. While it is a great perfume, it is widely available here and I already own a bottle of it. I think she mostly just knew it was a fragrance I would like. I responded that I enjoy TFWP and while I already had it, it never hurts to have another. Ever the trooper, sis kept looking during her travels. While in Amsterdam she came across a perfume shop. I think she even spent some time talking to one of the associates there to find the right one. Mendittorosa Id is what she chose for me. For the vast majority of us here on Fragrantica, you will understand how absolutely giddy I was when I opened this up. The sheer delight of an unusual and uncommon fragrance is quite the rush. This fragrance house makes the perfumes look and feel special and unique. Housed in a handmade wooden box, wrapped with twine and a metal tab holding the twine around the box. I remember not wanting to cut the twine but there was no other way I could find to open the box. The bottle is heavy and thick. Square with rounded off corners. The cap is unusual. It has dulled metallic look. I think I read that these too, are handmade. The cap on mine has a stylized heart shape to it. The bottle has the name of the fragrance on a small bit of metal that wraps over two sides of the bottle. I wish I would have been as impressed with the scent as I was the presentation. There isn't anything wrong with Id, but on my skin it is rather linear. There is very little change from beginning to end. It comes across as a bit spicy, not flowery in any way. Truly wish there was more jasmine. I pick up oud and cinnamon mostly. The reviewer below, p1t2r3, writes 'wet, moist'. My experience it the opposite. It reads very dry on my skin. Dry with some heat provided by the spices. I think this would be great on a man. It has taken me a long time to write a review about this fragrance because it bewilders me and I am not sure how I feel about it. I have tried it at different times of the year to see if I will feel something about it but it always seems to leave me feeling indifferent. It might be because there is no real detectable sweetness or even floral. I may try to layer it over another fragrance though I am not sure it would work as it isn't an overly bold fragrance and might get overshadowed by another scent. I'm not ready to give up in this one. Maybe I should live in it for a week or so and see what that is like. It's rare that I wear the same scent more than a day or two. But really, I think this one is special to me because of the meaning and love involved in the gift itself.

A refined fragrance,elegant iris covered with a powerful cinnamon that rests on woods and nutmeg... with this scent I feel a very elegance,attractive and mysterious at the same time, quite interesting in drydown, perfectly unisex. Sillage: 8.5/10 Longevity: 9./10 Scent: 8./10 Overall: 8./10

A comforting blend of warm spices and a tiger balm like note, sharp and medicinal. The woody and sweet background notes keep it interesting, and sort of open up the scent, like there's some quiet woods outside your cozy room.

Smells like beautiful realistic bee-wax to me with rich balsamic base, great mix of warming spices and powdery undertones. Smells quite Christmassy but also smooth and round. Gorgeous warming scent! My ig: scent.guide

Its a nice well blended aroma which is familiar tobyou. I get kinda boozy smoky leather(maybe because of birch) onwarm spices and labdanum .9/10 for me Its a bit sweet too.

This stuff is AMAZING! What a great house, sample them at twisted lily a sap!

Just upon the skin, it instills a sense of reassurance— it's the familiar mendittorosasignature. Warm and brisk, the spicy notes of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and labdanum create a comforting aroma. Then, as if rewinding to prehistoric times— an opened amber emerges, accompanied by the fragrant dance of flowers led by iris. A grand yet delicate waltz ascends, swirling around the body. They blend together in a peculiar and intimate manner.

Blind bought this one, and after testing, it make me think of something, exactly like one of my perfumes in collection. I keep smelling and thinking and BOOM!!! I found it. Its exactly like nasomatto Pardon!!!! Oud and cinnamon, maybe. Pardon was a little more harsh. But really similar, believe me Andof course pardon has a little better performance

Smells like Bentley for Men but a tiny bit more spicy. Very very similar 👍 A good perfume which requires some degree of confidence. Long lasting and projects.

به محض اسپری؛انگار سرتون رو داخل یک بُطری شراب کردید که بعد از چند سال از زیر خاک بیرون کشیده شده و اون سیلی محکم رایحه ترش و تخمیری شراب به بینی تون می رسه که برای من هم تعجب آور بود و هم زننده وایب شراب گون این عطر،حالت گرم و شیرین نداره و بیشتر همون حس ترشیدگی انگور رو القا می کنه و ابدا ذهنتون سمت روایحی مثل کنیاک و ویسکی نره،چیزی شبیه به انجلز شیر و این مدل روایح بگذریم... به مرور فضای ابتدایی فروکش می کنه و وجوهی اسپایسی_پودری سر و کله شون پیدا میشه که بوی دارچین رو می تونید اون لا به لا حس کنید کمی حالت رزینی+رگه های خفیف انیمالیک و ترکیب مُشک و پچولی که سعی می کنند یک بالانس ای برقرار کنند؛هرچند تا اواخر عمر عطر،اون بوی اولیه شراب گون حس میشه رایحه ای خامه ای شبیه به چوب صندل حس میشه که وجه پودری نداره و خودش رو از مُشک جدا کرده و در نهایت آمبروکسان در کنار سایر نت ها ،تبدیل به یک ترکیب همه پسند میشه پایان بندی بسیار بهتری نسبت به شروع اش داره و حداقل برای خوشایند تره اما با همه این تفاسیر نیستمش *************** scent:6.5/10 longevity:9/10 sillage:9/10 purchase value:2/10 ******* overall:6.6/10

Whole lotta spice. It's woody and it smells kind of like spicy tea or cloves boiling in water at first. Then, the jasmine shines through, yet it's still spicy, but not so woody. Overall, I like it, but I wouldn't wear this on a daily basis.

One of the weirdest experiences I ever had with perfumes. Id opens with an intensely spicy, salty, aromatic scent on my skin. It projects quite well for about 10 min then suddenly disappears - like I get nose blind. If I put my nose close to my skin I can smell a faint salty-vinegar scent which is not very pleasant. I do get some powdery iris and musk on the blotter though. Sadly not for me.

I don't like it. Its super feminine. Its very loud on top. Bitter. Id much rather smell this on a woman. For 205 dollars a bottle. Its a complete pass for me. Not a chance.

My reading of ID is that it's basically a woody-spicy loaded with labdanum. It sounds simple and for several aspects it surely is but the final result is so pleasant to wear to warrant some attention if you're into the genre. Cinnamon and other *oriental* spices in the top notes. A hint of a floral pattern is paired to a resinous / ambery (labdanum) base while smoky woods give ID a leathery vibe. A lot of names have been dropped to draw parallels between ID and other fragrances and I basically agree with most of them. There's something of the Duchaufour's modern woody-resiny-leathery signature, something of the creamy-spices of Costume National Homme, the woody-floral restraint of Buxton and an overall *unpolished* vibe that definitely plays in the fragrance's favor. Very nice. There's also an oil version of ID that is sold (used to be sold?) together with a lava jewel that's even better than the alcohol based iteration. More labdanum, more creamy woods and definitely more smoke. A true winner in my book. Rating: 7.5/10

Reading the reviews it seems like other than the spice notes everyone has a very different experience with this fragrance. For me ID opened up as spicy bubble gum. Don't ask me why. It developed into a spice bomb as the it settled on my skin and finally ended as a more subtle spicy fellow of its former self. Just a spicy spice spice. Gotta love the spice. It also reminded me of one of its sister scents Le Mat. A journey through the most fragrant and voluptuous spice market in the world.

I wonderful warm and spicy perfume! The nutmeg and cinnamon are so fragrant and beautiful, it really makes the scent work. The woods and benzoin make the scent longlasting and strong, too. For me the best part is how office friendly this is, not that this is an important thing for me. Not offensive at all. It is quite similar to Idole by Lubin, but it has its own qualities. Definitely worth a try, in my humble opinion.

this smells like an empty seashore on a windy autumn day lots of carnation - spicy, bitter, powdery but very harmonious with other notes. I also smell something like a beer malt, not sure what exactly it is.. rich buttery iris heart - its not always there but rather comes and goes. prominent nutmeg, might be too much if you don't like this note... a warm spicy woody smell, slightly medicinal. very natural.

I really don't know what to say. I couldn't tell what top notes it contains. It's hour later and I still don't know. The thing is the scent is more and more familiar. Woody, wet, moist, intimate. I'm really comfortable with that. After 7 hours still radiating when I move. Is it Jasmine after about 15min.?

I really love this. Spicy, dry and complex. My brain is convinced it can smell plum but there’s no plum in the listed notes. Perfect for autumn and winter. For some reason I’ve hugely gone off iris but I can’t detect it in this: it’s a very minor presence or blends so well it’s effectively disguised.

A spicy labdanum-based balsamic amber with lots of clove and cinnamon along with nutmeg and hints of florals (Iris). It moves to a woody sandalwood base that can be found in many fragrances from the house with added nutmeg.
