Lacura

I sampled a few from Mendittorosa after reading about their ethos of artisanal cooperation and artistic autonomy. Lacura was by far my favorite. Thick, cool citrus cream with a vanilla-caramel-pear kiss. Refreshing, calming, and a little sweet. This really is a balm for the soul... via the nose! I expect that this will be a good year-round scent, as I'm already noticing a lot of variation based on the weather and ambient temperature. On cool days, I get the vanilla, caramel, and musks, while the warmth brings out the citruses and florals. Perfectly versatile in terms of occasion and gender. I can't say I've smelled anything else like this. And Sofia, the creative director, was a pleasure to correspond with. The packaging is charming, and the bottle is almost as stimulating as the scent! Brava, Mendittorosa!

This is beautiful. Very comforting, relaxing, fresh... very wearable for any occasion, soft, pretty, pretty sophisticated as repeated below. Honestly surprised by how much I enjoy it, it's a daily kind of scent -doesn't say too much about you but what it says is something to be proud of. 8/10

The consensus on Lacura seems to be that it is fine but unremarkable/safe: I disagree. I think its special! This type of DNA should be everywhere, but it isn't. Not many bitter, powdery citruses out there. Looking at the "This Smells Like" feature - nothing is close (I was the first to suggest Noiressence and that is a stretch.) This scent is unique and under-appreciated. Yes it's pleasant and an easy reach, but that doesn't make it ordinary! Now on to the review: Pleasantly bitter with a dry powder, and although I'm skeptical of caramel, this is not sweet it just adds a creamy texture. The orange and neroli notes aren't juicy or sharp, they are mellow and just flow. I don't get any pear note, which often reads "mushy" to me and this fragrance is dry. I think if this were more widely distributed and a touch more affordable, it would be extravagantly popular. I also enjoy Bvlgari Indian Garnet and Etro Messe de Minuit as powdery citruses, but this is superior (I think MdM is overrated and sharp). Redemption for Lacura!

A more "traditional learning feminine" scent that is soft, pretty, and cohesive, with noticeable notes of orange/blossom petigrain, citrus, along with a kind of ylang-vanilla and a strong powder, faint caramel and Ambroxan coming from behind--but not "sweet-Prada" style. It's not my jam, but it's more interesting than many floral-caramel genres, emphasizing a powdery/lipstick vibe. It is not sweet, but rather a pleasant more sophisticated, innocent scent with a faint whisper of something a little darker, not listed, that grounds it. Could be someone's signature as it's a little different than the mass offerings.

Strong start. It’s hard to pin down what the note cutting clean through is. It smells a bit too much like cleaning spray (unfortunately) somewhat of a creamy bitter orange. I personally think it settles into a delicious fancy creamsicle but my sister did say she still gets cleaning spray so I'll hold back on this one, but I think it's an innovative, different and complex scent which is refreshing.

It smells close to Vibrato, but here’s the catch: the projection is weak and the longevity is just 3 hours—which is a single but heavy downside. It’s a gorgeous scent, beautiful like a secret between lovers, bright, vibrating, and sexy. But at the end of the day, I’d still go with Vibrato.P.S.Stunning bottle, as always from this house.

Soft, a unique citrus - floral -caramel combination. Very wearable for any occasion. Leans feminine but easily unisex. A nice addition from this excellent house.

A sweet citrus-benzoin scent. Pear is prominent and fresh. I quite enjoy this one, a sunny, happy scent.

I didn’t love the way the caramel and powder show up at the same time at first, but it gets better as it settles. The florals aren’t dominant, they just decorate the powdery base. I’m not sure if it’s bitter orange or neroli, but something feels a bit too sharp in the opening. There are soft elements trying to balance it out, though. There’s also an underlying note — maybe caramel or benzoin — that comes off slightly plasticky at first. Not like burnt sugar, but more of a non-sweet, almost synthetic kind of sweetness. This fades after about five minutes. Overall, the scent leans powdery with jasmine neroli. On clothes, it dries down incredibly soft, baby-like and pure. I haven’t really tested the projection, but even though some notes can feel a bit off at first, they seem to support the powder and make it feel stronger and more diffusive. I actually prefer this over a scent that only smells amazing up close. The best version of this fragrance is hours later — even the next day. It becomes incredibly soft, clean. Also sooo happy the top and mid notes didn’t vanish in 5 seconds and leave me alone with vanilla. On my skin the drydown is this cozy musk–jasmine–vanilla blend, but you still get those little flashes of bitter orange, neroli underneath 🍊💐

A fresh bittersweet citrus top with the bitter orange already blending with a juicy pear, and all with an impressive naturalness of the ingredients, in fact a characteristic of this fragrance. The protagonism of the very striking white flowers is immediately evident, dominated mainly by neroli with jasmine, which brings a slight indole suggestion. This bouquet of white floral is the soul of the perfume. It continues to intertwine with the main supporting actors a lavender and musk powder that begins to emerge a powdery facet that fortunately did not remind me of makeup [that was my fear], although the fragrance as a whole leans a little towards the feminine. On the way to drying, after almost 1 hour of application, the fresh woods begin to show up, rough, woody raw woods softened by a caramelized ambery accord that is sweet on point, without exaggeration.

If you own this you will never need sospiro vibrato or Ingenious ginger ever again. This has the same fizzy ginger type smell with a nice musky powdery base and just the right amounts of citrus and supporting notes. This is really good actually I say this destroys vibrato easily

Opens with orange and a prominent pear accord then moves to a creamy sweet orange blossom base with noticeable caramel accord and musk. Probably the safest fragrance from the house but can be viewed as the least interesting from the house too.
