Nettuno

Another iris recommendation, I bought a sample of the extract version of Nettuno (I don't know if it exists in another concentration). It is a rich, spicy leather scent featuring powdery rose and iris, beautifully put-together with high-quality materials. Iris plays a supporting role here, but Nettuno is a remarkable leather scent in its own right that puts iris to good use. Nettuno is softly spicy from initial spray, with warm nutmeg evident up top, alongside some ginger. More powdered than freshly-chopped, the spices meld nicely with the iris-leather accord that forms the backbone of this scent. The leather slowly comes to the fore, smooth and refined, like a new designer handbag. As it develops, the leather becomes the focal point, complemented to perfection by the powdery iris that emerges at the heart. Sweet rose joins it, airy rather than jammy, giving a light lipstick quality here alongside the iris. The leather accord lingers throughout, becoming musky as it dries down. Dry vetiver adds a nice woodiness to the base, complementing the floral-leather accord to perfection. Carrot seeds enhance the powdery quality here, rounding out the rooty iris nicely. I get the sweetly boozy rum note too - an unusual addition to a base, but it fits in beautifully here. It fades to a sweet, musky skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion, and is a transeasonal scent. An elegant, good-quality leather scent, punctuated by powdery florals, Nettuno is truly lovely, and is surprisingly wearable. It feels like one of Hermès' better releases - high praise indeed! A top-notch example of how to use leather in perfume. 4.5/5.

I would never in a million years have tried this one on my own had not a lovely person gift me with a decant. I was more interested in a sandalwood scent, but she sent this one as well. What a beauty! If you love a delicate, spicy (not pepper! a lovely almost allspice? effect, to my nose anyway) I think it's the nutmeg and ginger, but not the pink pepper. Pink pepper comes across as hot to me, and this isn't hot. The vetiver gives it a bit of the woody, without that fake javanol that I so dislike, but also maybe a bit of hay like sweetness. Not dried hay, fresh hay that's being grown, a sweet grassy airy smell. Sorry, hard to describe. Carrot seed and benzoin definitely give it some sweetness, but an interesting sweet, not just sugar. The biggest surprise for me, and why I would never have tried ~ the leather. Usually leather just ends up smelling like the inside of my purse to my nose, but here it deepens everything and brings it all together. I haven't mentioned the iris, and I don't know why, it's there but it's airy, like floating dandelions. You know it's there, but it doesn't come across as an iris dominant scent, it blends, blends blends. I know all of this is confusing and it's confusing me just writing out my thoughts, but it's a cohesive scent that you can't pin down. You just want to smell it. And smell like it.

Nettuno is an incredible perfume. I like to think of it as a cosmic bouquet of iris and rose, made spectacular with spices and liqueurs. I don't find it to be anything like Iris Nazarena at all, though they are both marvellous scents and I love them almost equally (with the edge in Iris Nazarena's favour). Nettuno is a lot more musky, bright, radiant, and Iris Nazarena is a lot more meditative, perhaps a touch sombre. Nettuno is also a lot louder and has a bigger projection. This isn't ainything like coca cola to my nose, and the comparison is hoenstly baffling, but everyone's nose is different after all.

I love this (and I love Iris Nazarena too). I do think these smell different, but I get the comparison in terms of just a leather iris banger combo. It's like leathery lipstick. I love the pink pepper and vetiver notes -- which I smell pretty strongly here. A very cool fresh leathery iris. I feel like this fragrance perfectly compliments someone with a monochrome beige aesthetic where everything is plain but is all secretly thousands of dollars -- aka The Row. Yeah, if youre aesthetic is the The Row, this is the scent I'd pair with it.

This is an ethereal beauty and I'm speechless. What a Christmas gift I've got from my husband. My perfect floral, powdery, woody,musky juice in a jewel like bottle and a velvet box. I haven't seen a presentation like this in any other brand that I know. The projection is perfect. I believe it will bloom much better in spring & fall. It will definitely share the top spot for irises in my collection with L'attesa.

An acidic and ozonic opening that hides something elegant and sophisticated! Nettuno is a fascinating and "cool" parfum. Shines like a diamond, I hear a lot of iris and even white musk ... ginger and rose give really good accents. Essence,harmony,lights, all this is inside this bottle! Very beautiful. Definitely agree with @Ilikewhatilike about being an inoffensive office fragrance with a nice twist. On me, it is the unmistakable aroma of popcorn at first sniff and I loooooove it! Interestingly turns fruity on my husband and gingery-leathery on me. I would say it is more feminine but men could pull it off as well. On my wishlist!

A very complex rose, expanded in its olfactory logic to some galactic proportions with clever use of woody leathery iris root, spiciness of vetiver and icy musks to fill the voids between these celectial bodies of the Nettuno galaxy. Its extrait strength too, and might be a shock in terms of complexity and richness to some noses.

Beautiful dry, mediterranean-inspired, iris and leather. This is soft, and simply exudes a restrained kind of beauty. Perfect for day or night, and would be fantastic in hot weather. There is nothing heavy or off-putting about it. And the bottle is like a piece of jewelry...

Beautiful airy fragrance with amazing iris and rose combo and soft cream type of woods and musks underneath. It has subtle sweetness, but it’s more of a fresh rose sweetness rather than a gourmand one. Lovely high quality fragrance. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Absolutely Magnificent. Unisex, soft, light and fruity leather for people who don't really like leather fragrances. Iris, rose, musk and billowy, creamy softness with carrot seed. Just love it. 9/10 and Fragrantica score of 4.3

Great iris-leather combo - sophisticated, airy and classy. Elegance in a bottle. A very decent silage and lasting power, more than 10 hours. Leaning feminine.

Great fragrance. Last all day. Kinda feminine at first. Dry down is the best part. Projects really well.

A gentle, spicy, powdery, not too animalic leather Iris. Very cohesive for such list of notes, although we all know that notes are just advertising. But still, this is a great easy reach for situations that you need to smell great, don't want to stand out too much but you still want to be appreciated for your taste in fragrances.

Killing me softly...A true masterpiece. It is a real pleasure to experience this scent. The musk is everlasting but light, powdery, elegant iris resting on the softest leather. After a few hours a red rose appears and disappears in the musk veil.

Dusty spicy leather with sweet rose. Sort of a decadence scent, which you can`t predict looking at the notes. Surprisingly very little iris. An interesting, quite unusual, charming unisex scent.

Generic smelling, expensive, but still well blended. Personal: 6/10 – An unusual mix of iris, suede, and powder with a mineralic/ozonic twist and rose. It's a blend of things I usually dislike, but here it gets a pass, since it's at least wearable. Mass appeal: 6.5/10 – This one is definitely niche. The powdery iris and mineralic-suede edge won’t click with most people, though it has a refined aura. I don't think anyone will truly hate it, though. Performance: 7.5/10 – Moderate longevity and projection. It holds steady for several hours without overwhelming those around you. Value: 3/10 – Mendittorosa prices are very high, and unless you LOVE this, it's impossible to justify over layering a solid musky iris fragrance with something rose heavy to accomplish a similar effect. Uniqueness: 8.5/10 – Iris + suede with a mineralic, spacey, abstract twist is definitely unusual. Few fragrances feel this otherworldly. SCORE: 63/100 Full bottle buy? NO, too powdery and abstract for my taste. And way too pricey. Blind buy? NO, too unusual and pricey to risk. Even if it were safer, at this price, absolutely not. Recommend? NO, even if you like iris-suede with a mineralic/airy character. Date night? NO, it’s too cold and distant to feel romantic. Office safe? YES, if used lightly. It’s refined and not too loud, though abstract. Pros: Unique iris-suede-mineralic DNA, refined aura, nicely balanced performance. Cons: Exceedingly pricey, not mass appealing, leans too powdery/abstract for most. Nettuno feels like Mendittorosa’s attempt at creating a celestial iris. It's airy, mineralic, and refined, with suede grounding it in a slightly leathery base. It’s smooth, cold, and distant, like a fragrance designed to smell futuristic or alien. I admire how different, and distinct from other fragrances with similar accords it is. By no means my favorite fragrance, but it's something that I feel is worth smelling. Its performance is balanced and reasonable, it evolves nicely into a progressively more metallic rose vibe while keeping the suede underneath. This fragrance is more a feeling than it is a smell, plus there's a bit of an iodine medicinal edge that adds to the weirdness and alien nature of it. A polished, spacey iris-suede fragrance. Iris, shoe shop and laundry. At first I enjoyed the iris note in the opening, which felt like a relaxing breath of fresh air, then a patent leather note toed the clean fabric musk straight into my face, which put me off.

Something went wrong with this on me. Probably the musk and the vetiver, two notes that only rarely work on me. The opening was poisonous and chemical smelling but after I scrubbed a beautiful iris stuck around.

Nettuno... Rewind one year. I was testing this last year in December and I really liked it. The coolness of iris and rose, the soft musk, even ginger and nutmeg seemed to cool this scent instead of warming it up. And yet, somehow despite all this coolness, scent in itself was somehow so smooth and refined it was almost warming. It lingers close to the skin, so close it can be almost forgotten as if no fragrance is worn. And yet it's there as it occasionally will fill nostrils with wafts of scent. So, since I liked it so much I got myself a full bottle. It arrived, and I was enjoying the newest addition to my collection for a few weeks... And then, one day it hit me: it smells like coca-cola. I literally froze! Couldn't, and still cannot smell it with my 'old' nose. It's coca-cola. That's it. I quizzed my friends, they all say it's a beautiful scent, very nice and subtle. But for me, the charm and appeal are gone. I'm waiting for colder days... maybe that experience from last year will return. If only for few days. Somehow I'm not ready to part my ways with my bottle.

Very interesting scent - not the leather bomb i was expecting, rather a soft suede beating in the backdrop of a powdery, zesty gingery, soft spicy iris. I can't smell the rose, although I have been known to miss this note when a dominant leather and iris are present. There is a feminine aspect to it for sure, in fact overall I would say this leans femme. Definitely getting a touch of rum and grainy earthy aspect of the carrott seed, and a subtle sweetness comes from the resin, not sugary or overly sweet.

I had high hopes about this fragrance. I have leather and a floral note straight on top, then a bit of moss starts to show up. In the middle some citrusy scent comes forward and... that’s it. In 2-3 hours this fragrance flattens to a light floral monoscent that sits very close to skin and almost undetectable. It’s a pity this fragrance behaves this way on my skin.

Spicy powder with clean Iris, some woods and if there is leather, on my skin it’s just a whisper. The cyclamen note seems to be popular recently and it pops out for me at the start. Not much rise for me. I think very wearable for a casual scent and non-offensive so it can be used as an office scent, but interesting enough to keep frag-heads interested.

The opening is intensely spicy (fresh spices mainly ginger and after a few minutes nutmeg), I also detect a boozy sweet medicinal rum accord, now the strange thing is that iris is extremely sweet. On paper, the iris is more balanced. The rose accord was ordinary (fresh and minty). The fragrance becomes leathery after some time (animalic leather).

I don’t care what the notes say, this smells like an indoor pool.
