Sogno Reale

Just received this beautiful bottle from Mendittorosa and I ́m puzzled. It ́s very subtle, but evolves in a very interesting way. I believe I will need time to learn to appreciate this scent and will experiment a bit on how to best apply for maximum impact. This may very well be the kind of perfume that is best applied on the chest before dressing. It has been reported to be a rather animalic fragrance, but to me it ́s quite well behaved. I ́m intrigued by the way its many different notes are put together. Quite advanced and very original. After some wearings I still cannot get to the full depth of this one. I like it a lot and it could well be that it's the unusual combination of hyrax and the sea note that has caused my difficulties figuring out this lovely scent.. My most unusual fragrance in the most gorgeous bottle. 7/10 Update: I'm devastated as my lovely, beautiful bottle of Sogno Reale fell on my bathroom floor and was of course totally crushed. :-( I was so looking forward to getting to understand this enigmatic scent better... Now an enchanting fragrance fills my bathroom, but my bottle is lost... Feeling really sad... New update: Time was ripe for a new bottle which is now on the way. After telling Mendittorosa about my bottle ́s tragic fate I was lucky to receive some samples as consolation until I would decide to acquire a new one. I admit that this scent never escaped my subconsciousness and it was just a question of time until I had to order it again. Expecting my beautiful bottle this week, can ́t wait!

Last week, when I went through some complimentary samples along with a new purchase, I tested Sogno Réale. Among all Mendittorosa samples, this one really stood out. Sparkling citrusy sweet oceanic notes contrasting the soft smooth creamy base is like waves in an ocean of floral and cream. It instantly brings me smile. I once thought there might be some kind of very clean ambergris that used in Arabic attars in this perfume, based on the notes listed on this page, probably there isn’t any. All notes are very well blended, and very natural smelling. I’m also pleasantly surprised that how Sogno Réale reminds me of a beverage I loved so much as a child, Hi-C Melon Flavoured Soya Milk. It might not be too difficult to relate, while melon resembles oceanic notes and soy milk resembles the creamy base. I once thought I won’t be drawn to aquatic perfumes for how synthetic and revolting they usually smell. However, I have been proven wrong lately, after sampling Sogno Réale and Sel Marin. All 6 samples from Mendittorosa are high quality, very natural and beautiful. If Sogno Réale is an ocean, then it’s an ocean that only exists in dreams, fantasy and sweet memories.

Update** So the presentation is amazing, comes in a wood crate, very well hand craft touches. The bottle looks nothing like the one listed on here, so please don't judge this fragrance on the wrong picture. The bottle is actually really nice with a cool cap. Now...to what matters.. The scent. Amazing, one of the best I've got my nose on in s long time. It's a cross between w lab on fire what we do in Paris is a secret and Orlov Paris flame of gold but with some soft sandlewood undertones. I think the lemon, rum and sandalwood create one creamy note that's to die for. Now, this fragrance cots a little more than the other offerings that are well priced at like $175 for a 100ml, but guys, for $200 we are getting 100ml of extrait parfum. This stuff lasts just fine, on my skin that eats up frags faster than anyone else's, still lasts 6-8hrs easy. Clothes, forget about it. I highly HIGHLY recommend one to get a sample of this from twisted lily a sap.you will be so happy you did, but I'm warning you, you will be obsessed until you buy a bottle.

As a New Englander who has spent much time by the ocean, I am fastidious of any fragrance that claims to capture the essence of the sea. I've smelled one too many bleached-out aquatics that verge on nauseating, many that are stuffed to the gills with various ozonic and marine-smelling materials, leaving no room for nuance. Profumum Roma's brilliant Acqua di Sale is a notable exception, but then there is this enigmatic number, which, unlike fulsome oceanic landscape of Acqua di Sale, haunts and caresses. Sogne Reale is briny and airy, but it also is somehow mouthwatering. Lemon sorbet on a breezy deck leads to rum and cantaloupe cocktails at sunset. Whiffs of bubblegum tuberose giving off their scent after sundown mingle with the salty air; a certain toffee-like sweetness merges with frankincense; then this oceanic amber enfolds with just the slightest furry, warm animal magic. Nothing here is dense or chewy, which does give it mystique—feeling weightless yet substantial. It is a compelling study in nuance and a singular experience.

One of the moderators on Eau My Swap was discussing her love for this perfume, so I immediately hopped online and bought a sample (I'm admiring my own restraint in not immediately purchasing a full bottle blindly, which is what I usually do these day. Zero self-control. Sigh. However, I could have bought a bottle blindly and been absolutely satisfied. This is a unique, nuanced, exciting perfume. I have burned out on niche-land lately and fallen back on the first triumvirate (Chanel, Dior, Guerlain) out of frustration, but this gorgeous little number may have pulled me back in. I'm buying a bottle immediately. It's like nothing else I've tried. Oceanic, but not in the usual synthetic way, salty without being overwhelming, amber without taking over the entire program, etc. It's well-balanced, interesting, and seems to have longevity (though not a sillage monster, to be sure). I'm smitten. High smit. I recommend this one unreservedly. Grab a bottle while you still can!!

Oh how I have grown to love this fragrance! The opening I still get a sharp hairspray (if I get right up on it) yet it's not unpleasant or imposing - with a tinge of the hyraceum (the only time I notice any muskiness or animal notes, though I do believe hyraceum leans uric versus fecalic so maybe why unfamiliar vs musks I'm familiar with), I think it blends so perfectly with the vanilla in the amber that they become one note) which folds magnificently into the amber, yes this one's all about amber and it's a masterpiece (this coming from someone who dislikes vanilla greatly so I'm super critical of any fragrance that contains it), I'm also not getting anything aquatic - maybe briny? (perhaps that's the "hairspray" I smell).. I'm guessing the top of the bottle is a piece of ambergris though and I do think that's at play, soft and spicy yet not weak has perfect sillage and longevity!

The BEST fragrance niche sample I have ever come across in a long time, I have approx a little over 200 niche sample from luckyscent and twisted lily too. This just has that wow factor. That quick transformation on just wonder and awe. I will hype this fragrance up after my full bottle is here and I wear it a few good times. So far this stuff is staying on skin for 6 hours and is still going hard and smells soooooo good. It kind of reminds me or Orlov Paris - flame of gold but for $100 less and this is a 100ml bottle. Like a boozy lemon vanilla musk and sandalwood scent. Mouthwateringly good. Best presentation in the game, wow take a look at that. It really makes you feel like your getting something special here. 10/10 - perfection - masterpiece - gem etc...

Holy fuck! I wouldn't call it boozy, but this is the most intoxicating thing I've ever smelled. It has a sweet ozonic opening, with noticeable calone.Then it transitioned to this, this divine stage beyond word. It's probably an amber accord but beats all other amber hollow. Although my brain is too busy enjoy the smell to analyze it, I'd guess the tuberose undertone helped a little. The rum edge is quite noticeable at beginning, then a nutty accord takes over. It's reminiscent of the nutty feeling in "South" but less muted due to its sweet companions. A lot of boozy scents I tried didn't even come near to actual drinks, but this one exceeds the real thing. I can trade my five years liquor portion for a bottle of this.

Sogno Reale begins life as a briny and mildly ammonic yet heavily enjoyable sort of sea spray aroma before evolving into what I would classify as a fuzzy-oceanic-amber. Reminiscent of Uni in all of it's deliciousness, but also sweet and pleasant enough to be extremely wearable and mildly addicting. It's refreshing to try something that uses the aquatic theme right for once instead of just blasting my nose with salty chemicals and trying to pass it off as "oceanic". The hyrax is present and provides a good little fuzzy animal kick but do not fear, it is nowhere near as prominent as it is in something like Montecristo. lasts a good 7 hours but it projects very very subtly. Fantastic. 9/10

I bow before the holy amazingness of this insanely beautiful perfume bomb of marine fabness! I've wanted a transportive niche marine scent since before niche existed. For years wanting THE OCEAN meant calone, Kramer in his tighty whities, aftershave you wear on your yacht, anything but the briney, smelly sea. But in the last decade niche has been experimentally giving the goods and I was asking myself the deep questions: Squid, Megamare or both? THIS scent is better than every last piratey sea shanty bottle out there. It's brine, kelp, sweet rot and the intensive smell of the ocean in the wind. It's meditative and calming and it gives me deep feelings. It has almost made me cry.

One of the most unusual aquatic fragrances ever created, Sogno Reale (Real Dream) is a briny, animalic, intimate beauty that reminds you instantly of a long cruise taken on a ship or a day spent at a near secluded beach. The perfume begins with citrusy and aquatic boozy notes (lemon, bergamot, sea salt, rum) and proceeds to a brief floral incense middle (tuberose, patchouli, olibanum) before settling into an animalic powdery base (hyrax, sandalwood, styrax and amber). Full of surprises, twists and turns and intoxicatingly inviting. Unisex, beautiful blending, with moderate sillage and good staying power. A very unusual and nostalgic aquatic. Enjoy!

A fab scent! I love the marine aspect to this. It's warm from the amber yet fresh. A great mix of contrasts. A citrus opening and then you are very aware of warm amber, resins and booze. I like the booze element. It adds an intensity. It then settles and then the floral notes really come through and you sense the crashing of salty waves. Further along the timeline and I then pick up the animal note swirling around in a glass of booze. A nice scent for a sunny autumn day and quite unisex Good sillage and hangs around for a good few hours.

Enigmatic! A very charming scent with soft amber accompanied by a delicious tuberose and marine notes... this parfum is really like a dream, it seems like a mysterious essence and kept hidden for so many centuries ... I'm very happy to have tried it, I like it much. I must say that it is very well balanced, the sillage is moderate and the longevity of more than 8 hours. A precious jewel. Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 9./10 Overall: 9./10

A golden and hairy hyrax decided to leave his habitat on a sunny day to take a dip in the sea. After cooling off in the delicious salt water, he saw a glass of rum on a table and decided to rest next door, under the hot sun. The smell of your wet and salty hair mixes with rum evaporating from the glass. That's how Sogno Reale smells to me. One of the favorites in my collection. Above-average fixation and projection.

Smells like you're standing sea side with a drink of rum somewhere in the Mediterranean and the warm touch of the sun at dusk is radiating rich and sweet Amber off your skin. A truly magnificent scent. One of the few niche scents I believe is worth the money. If I could find a full bottle here stateside it's an instant buy for me.

I cannot fully express how much I love this briny, tender animalic cocoon. There are so many nuances - and although it is very subtle, it lingers for a very long time. Complex, comforting, and inexplicably haunting <3

It's a nice scent, relatively unique. a sweet fruity, melon-like smell on the exhale. This slowly turned into amber. I can wear it in all seasons, but I like it in colder weather.

From the reviews I was sure I would love this, so blind bought a whole bottle. It's a lovely presentation in a wooden box. Its essential oils extracts. It's clearly well made, well conceived. To me, this is a lovely masculine scent. Its a seascape. The opening 15-20 minutes. Yes, it is masculine, I pulled out a few notes in the opening of rust and gun powder. There is an ozone scent of salty sea air. I start to pull out notes of sea water soaked wood; perhaps, did they ever soak wood in creosote to make it more impervious to sea water? Then also in the opening, which is a skin scent, I start to get a very strong calcium scent of what I imagine to be barnacles. So I definately get the sense of being on a wooden ship with cannons, on the sea a couple centuries ago. There is a faint, distant sweet scent that I imagine is the scent of flowers and vegetation growing on land, that may be visible but a far distance away. Twenty minutes in, the sillage grew to 2-3 feet. I start to get citrus notes on top of the rust, gun powder, creasote, calcium scents. The citrus makes the fragrance become both lighter, and deeper in contrast, at the same time. The creasote has almost a sweet tobacco tinge to it. Sillage begins to fade/shrink about 4 hours after application, to become a skin scent again, and becomes predominantly a warm, boozy amber scent, with the citrus hanging just below. It offers the experience of walking around a ghost ship in the Atlantic from centuries past. 8/10

Big, classy and charismatic amber with recognisably quirky niche shell but a surprisingly solid, toffee-like, crowd-pleasing centre. Big chewy vanilla (just a tiny bit TOO big for me but my skin always amps it to 11) with a delightfully dirty inflection to make it interesting. There's some real dark and animalic in there, which I like a LOT, and something verging-on-fruity (probably my pet hate, tuberose) which is happily kept juuuust under control. Sadly I don't get a lot of the aquatic effects as advertised, just an amiable, extrovert, spicy-furry-adult take on amber; this is definitely no teen or nostalgia scent but something modern and funky and a little wilder. Not a smell-a-like, but reminds me powerfully, of Rania J Ambre Loup, Masque Milano Tango and even Lutens Ambre Sultan so that is pretty high-grade company to be keeping! Overall it's a little sweet (despite the grunt and filth) for my taste but if offbeat, eccentric, spiced ambers float your boat you should sail away in this royal dream. In an over-crowded field this more than justifies its existence and its near-nuclear performance even justifies the price. (Warning, or recommendation if you prefer: this wears even darker and more animalic on fabric and will last for literally days on end on natural materials, so spray strategically.) Sogno is a scent success story.

Sour, tangy lemon is layered over an aquatic opening. The ocean notes here aren't bad - I've smelled worse, but I've also smelled better. It's not particularly salty or natural. The lemon fades after the opening and Sogno Reale becomes a lovely animalic; it's warm, musky and leathery, with pronounced dry hay / grassy notes. I have never smelled the raw material of hyraceum, but there is a lovely, natural and not fecal musk here that I assume is the hyrax. I'm very surprised that there is no coumarin or tonka - the thought that I keep having is that there is sweetgrass in here - a coumarin laden grass that grows in the American plains. Styrax is a major note here. Tuberose contributes some indole, but this scent is not floral or tuberose-y at all. At times there are hints of something like a mild herbal lavender. Overall, the opening is ok but not special, and the heart and drydown are a really enjoyable animalic/sweetgrass/hay smell. Defnitely a cosy animalic rather than a vampy one. It makes me feel like a furry little animal, napping in the sun on a patch of sweetgrass. Average sillage, great longevity. Like.
