L'Oblìo

This is incredibly soft, both in sillage as well as in impression. It's like the lightest wisp of grey tulle, or a scrap of fog still hanging on amidst the mountains. Beautiful but ephemeral. Barely there, but lovely while it lasts. The scent itself is pretty true to what you'd imagine looking at the notes. There's a brief orris-like vegetal note in the beginning, which dies down to let the iris, woods, and incense come through. Just beautiful, in a contemplative way. Perfect for cool weather, libraries, and deep thought. It's slightly salty or ashy at times, other times it's hay-like and honeyed. If this were stronger I would be raving about it. As it is, I'm happy enough to have tried it, but can't say it's FB worthy due to its performance. Then again, I think I'll miss my sample when it's gone, so I might seek out a travel-size to indulge in from time to time. Edit: I caved. I grew more and more obsessed with this as my sample ran out, so when I found a 10ml decant on sale for $25 I bought two bottles ASAP. I get around the sillage issue by spraying on my clothes, which hang onto the scent and release little wafts as I move around. The spray format also helps. I'm in love. Edit again: a year later and I'm still in love. This is my signature cool weather scent. Not that it's bad in the heat, but it has such a poetic melancholy to it that it's perfect for cool, grey days.

Inspired by the desire to be in the state of oblivion while the perfumer was in a trip down Mekong river in Cambodia? Man, I am sold, that was where I grew up, though I would say this is like a modified Dior Bois D'argent. It really impresses me with the dusty iris opening accompanied by the slightly bitter sweetness of which I believe it could be the notes of mate and immortelle combined. It reminds me of a Cambodian woven mat that made from dry reed/palm leaves, which I used to lay down on at my grandparents house in the countryside, where there was a super dusty dirt road at the front. It is a memory scent that I have long forgotten/taken for granted, and now I am evoked. It is nostalgic, and awe-inspiring to me how Mr. Giuseppe Imprezzabile captures the scent of a place into a bottle. A big respect and appreciation. Scent profile: Dry, dusty iris+hay-like smell, and lightly sweeten by immortelle/mate This belongs to a soft/weak projection group. Close to skin. A preferred scent to enjoy by the wearer rather than pleasing the mass. Longevity is 6-8 hours on my skin. 90% close to Dior Bois D'argent while L'Oblio has a fresh sweetness from mate and immortelle, more dusty and naturalistic. Redundant to own both. Another similarity is Xerjoff Zefiro, same atmosphere while Zefiro has an interesting boozy white wine accord, and projects a little stronger.

This is a dense iris woodsy masterpiece, both powdery and smoky which are accords that aren't common together but produce an amazing effect that is dusty yet full, airy but contained, smoky yet ethereal and light, something of a purifying ritual. The name translates to Oblivion which feels right. Yes there is a similar texture to Dior Bois D'Argent but there are key differences that make this one better, the vibes are just different, and anyway it's possible for fragrances to come to similar ideas independently. It's been a few years since I wore BdA but I remember finding it too sweet for me due to the honey, and L'Oblio uses immortelle to add a touch of smoky/salty/green sweetness, the maté contributes to the dense texture while providing an interesting bitterness, and the incense adds to the smokiness. The note pyramid from the designer lists powder instead of musk, but I think that fragrantica mix-up works as a straight-up powder note can sometimes feel thin which doesn't represent L'Oblio. I get a comfort, a softness, a smooth vanilla. I feel a powdery, cloudy suspension - "Oblio" is the Italian word for "forgetfulness" or "oblivion." This is giving me Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain (my favorite of their discovery set). They both warm my spirit with a bliss (possibly read: intentional ignorance): "idc. Things are burning, but in this moment, I choose to forget." Wow. It evokes longing in me that made me well up a little, and not for a reason I can ascertain right now. As I go through the discovery set, I am reading the accompanying descriptions and inspirations from the perfume, and this one is my favorite. Meo Fusciuni knows how to evoke emotion. This is true artistry. There's a genuine thoughtfulness, and a tangible journey you can go along with the fragrance. I just love the entire concept. I thought Sogni was going to be my favorite, but this may surpass, or rather, they both hold different spaces in my heart and my "olfactory philosophy." beautiful. Wear this whenever you want to feel comfortable and forget.

The first time I tried L’Oblio, it felt vague, like the scent was so simple. I could only pick up the woody notes and didn’t connect with it, so I put it aside. Two weeks later, something shifted. I went back to it and suddenly the iris revealed itself. It’s sweet, calm, and so, so beautiful. It’s hard to explain, but I connect with it on a deeper level, like it reflects something hidden within me. It feels personal, almost like it’s a part of who I am. Right now, it’s without a doubt number 1 on my wishlist.

This feels intimate and literary. I stumbled across an interview where Meo Fusciuni said, “iris, always,” and that phrase captures what L'Oblio does best: iris is not just a note here, it feels like the scent’s quiet center, the thing that makes the whole composition feel reflective and human. It's not loud, but it lingers in the way a half-remembered dream or an old letter can linger.

Oh yes this is very very good. I absolutely love this fragrance. I'm of Sicilian ancestry so I was very excited to discover a house with Sicilian roots! This is like someone turned the volume up on Bois D'argent, but in the best way possible. The iris commands your attention and the incense is so gothic and mystical. It's blended to perfection with the finest ingredients. 10/10!

Was going to make a similar comment to what the person said below me. Very beautiful / powdery and subtle. What distinguishes this from most powdery fragrances for me at least is how earthy this is. Especially in its opening. This is a love for me but not sure if I can see this fitting into my collection at the moment.

A captivating fragrance that lingers, inviting constant rediscovery. It's dusty, woody and creamy base entwined with iris notes and a touch of tobacco creates a unique and beautiful scent profile. Unlike other scents that transport me, this one grounds me, making it my signature.

It’s like a cosy cloud surrounds you. Probably because no note is too prominent. It’s a powdery iris perfume but muted with incense and tobacco. There’s definitely some vanilla too. Overall, it’s a beautiful perfume (especially for Autumn 🍂)

I love this one. I spray it on and I feel peace. The incense is very subtle here, it has the most soothing woody notes I know, so glad sich discovered this one!

This perfume filled a void in my heart

The contrast of blue Iris within a wooden frame. I can sense the shade of iris all through the journey as if it's covering the whole elements of this juice. Mate was the dominant side by side with woods, but cloves were stronger a bit as i begun to sense it after 5 minutes. The tobacco was quite strong beside the musk, but when the musk mingled with tobacco it gave something glittery! something that gleams! I really wonder, why aren't there any citrus notes! i do sense a huge burst of citrus at first (mostly yuzu) then vanishes (nature of citrus) then settles to what have been mentioned above. I can't sense sandalwood, incense, or immortal! maybe a tiny bit of immortal. Eventually, this is not a dominant iris blend (or orris) it's more of a woody THAN iris. It needs time to develop and getting used to as it hides quite a mystery haze within and can't be detected unless it's worn. Since it's Giuseppe's creation, then it's soft, tender, and quite personal than loud, strong, and lacks identity for the sake of longevity. Edit (13th Sept 2017) Yesterday night i sprayed L'Oblio on my hand, and today morning when i was working out i kept on sniffing myrrh, incense mix! exactly like "Samharam" By Arte & "Sanctum" by Ramon Bejar! it was quite confusing as yesterday it gave the iris woody blend but when it settled it went incense, & myrrh! Edit (29th Sept 2019) I am wearing it now again, it does FIRST smell like "Sanctum" by Ramon, BUT, now after few minutes on my skin (4mins) i smell vibes of Angela's herbal foody blend "Liquo's"! i mean "Liquo" WAS my favorite until i sensed that foody spicy note within that almost smell like a cooked turmeric, plus worm cumin! "L'Oblio" just now disappointed me somehow with this foody spicy herbal note that completely ruined the blend for me! it could be my skin cause i do have that weird chemist within my skin that mostly turn few blends dramatically. I need to check it more again but at the time being this blend is a disappointment :(

An incense-tinged, airy vanilla wrapped in powder and musk. It immediately reminded me of Mirabilis 60, released earlier. Vanilla isn’t listed here, but I’m convinced it’s present; or at least something that evokes it: softly sweet, weightless, and smooth. This feels like a recognizable genre; there are many in this vein, yet this may well be one of the most successful examples thanks to its layered, sophisticated structure. Deeply comforting, yet touched with a subtle melancholy. As it settles, the woody aspect becomes more apparent, though the wood remains gentle and creamy rather than dry or sharp. I find myself utterly absorbed when wearing scents this soft and delicate; and then, for some reason, I forget them just as quickly. I really enjoyed it in the beginning when I had just purchased it. I was ready to splurge on it considering its longevity and sillage which to me is nonexistent (that's how much I enjoyed it) However, I believe this sort of scent needs to stay discreet and shy, closer to oneself. Before, the iris and woody notes felt more prominent on my skin but now with time all I get is mate (and the tobacco is subtly hiding there). So I smell mostly of cigarrettes (but it's in a sweet way, as if my jacket is coated in cigarrette smoke from the day before) and mate, that comes across bitter on my skin. I really wanted to like it and spend all my life savings on it :(

The most beautiful iris incense fragrance, it's truly such a fantastic iris. However, as others have said, this is the most fleeting fragrance. It's gone on my skin in minutes. Even spraying on clothes it's an extremely intimate/close sillage that is nearly undetectable after a very brief period. That being said, this is so pretty I still considered buying a bottle just to sniff! But at this price point I can't justify it unfortunately.

Extremely romantic. Floral incense and tobacco lying on a banner of soothing woods. So dainty, tender, shy, and endearing. Longevity on this one is not so bad considering how poorly his others perform. It becomes annoyingly intimate on the skin very quickly, but lasts a couple of hours. I could only justify owning a FB if it was gifted to me.

Not my typical scent but it certainly has its place in my collection. Almost too sickly sweet and vanilla-like for me if it wasn’t for the notes of smoke, wood, and dust that hold their own against the iris.

this is the first Meo perfume I try. Really similar to Gypsy Water but less clingy and more herbal. nice one. has relaxing effect. very gentle and moderately sweet. it’s pleasant to coexist with.

Nice earthy, woody oriented fragrance. Soil, cut grass, oak everything smells natural, and quality. I like this one, but the projection is lacking for me.

almost 100% match at the drydown with "Milano Fragranze - Basilica"

This does not gel with my nose and skin. It opens with a delightful combination of citrus and iris very much in a French mode before being clobbered by smoke and drowned in vanilla. It’s almost like a speed run of Shalimar without the sense of sophistication and mystery. An hour in I can still smell that opening, but it is just a whisper behind globs and globs of gourmand heaviness. This would make a lovely frosting, but for me it is not at all wearable. A real disappointment after that opening! Similar (in experience, not in actual smell) to another indelicate vanilla experience — Zoologist’s Harvest mouse. Definitely lighter in the drydown — I say frosting in contrast to HM’s melted ice cream because there is a sense of airiness, even coldness from the iris and lingering lift from the citrus. Here I am talking myself into appreciating L’oblio, even as I am about to scrub it off. I wasn’t looking for a gourmand experience, so this isn’t for me, but the beauty of the opening has me wanting to investigate other offerings from this line.

The Bois D'Argent comparisons are justified. I'm not a fan of Bois D'argent in general but L'Oblio has the same overall essence, contrast and atmosphere. There is, however, a delicate addition of bitter tea and hay that is nonexistent in the Dior, complimented by an exuberant amount of woods. I also get a hint of Cuir Velours in this; could very well be a cross of both.

It was my first fragrance from Meo. And since then, it has stayed with me in a way that's hard to explain. I had the chance to meet Giuseppe (Meo) in person, but I never found the right moment to talk with him about L’Oblio. Strange, considering how deeply attached I am to it. But sometimes, certain bonds are kept in silence—like letters never sent... (and we are a little song...) L’Oblio is not a fragrance you can describe with words. And it’s not a fragrance to be broken down by notes either. In Meo’s collection, notes always come last. They’re the final piece. First comes the story, the intention, the time lived, the beauty of the search. And only then, that damn helicrysum makes its entrance, opening the journey with an inexplicable light. Technically, it begins with a dusty, incense-laced iris, almost weightless, resting on a woody base. But really, what’s the point in going on? L’Oblio is not made for analysis. L’Oblio is that strange moment when you realize you've forgotten something... and instead of worrying, you smile. It’s the light awareness of absence. The relief of letting go. Oh my god... this fragrance is STUNNING. Yes, it is subtle, but goodness gracious it is absolutely gorgeous. Creamy, soft, vanilla-iris musk... the slightest hint of earthy tea... and a rounded out woody incense. If you are a fan of skin scents or subtle stunners like Gaiac 10 (Le Labo), I would say that you’ll most likely love this fragrance. Sweetness, angelic, unisex, divine. Sexy and innocent all at once... calming and begging to be drawn in for a hug. The word “Liminal” also comes to mind... Right up my alley no doubt and likely my favorite fragrance of the Meo Line. Also I find that the longevity on this fragrance is super good... I wake up able to smell it the next day on my skin. I suspect that people who say they can’t smell it after 5 mins are anosmic to it, because it is quite intimate... but on me it lasts and lasts. Been trying to figure out what fragrance this reminds me of, and it’s kind of similar to Gypsy Water from Byredo. Also reminds me of the smell of a hot dusty lightbulb... and waffle cones after many hours of wear... haha. It’s definitely a conundrum of a fragrance.

🧵 The Tailor’s Workshop 🧵 I step into the tailor’s studio. Afternoon light pours through the tall windows, illuminating rolls of velvet and silk spread across a great wooden table. A fine dust hangs in the air, as if someone has just shaken the gowns free of it. Iris scents the room with a creamy softness, like the touch of silk sliding between your fingers. At first, it feels gentle and powdery, like talc sprinkled over polished wood. Then the mate appears, bitter and dry, like dust settled on wooden spools of thread. The tea note gives the iris depth; it’s no longer merely sweet but gains character, becoming refined, mature, even masculine. The tailor lights a cigarette by the window. The smoke drifts lazily upward, mingling with the scent of old wood and that strange, powdery haze that always lingers here, as if it were part of the place itself. L'Oblio is the scent of someone who knows what they’re doing. Delicate yet with an edge. Powdery yet dry. Like a perfectly tailored suit: elegant, but never showy. @the.scent.files

Meo's offerings are something else. Another one of those extremely interesting, multidimensional fragrances that seem to change every smelling round. There are 2 main roads that I can spot: a vanilla centered fragrance surrounded by spices and herbs and other times a more earthy almost tobacco, tea and adding spice kind of smell. From far I get the first one more often, up close the second one and then at times it kind of mixes both. It's almost as if it's different fragrances. More wearable for me than little song, that's for sure. Also softer in terms of projection. However still not sure if I would wear this a lot. Need a couple of wearings from the sample! Again, very creative blend! 9/10

It’s a pretty good version of Annick Menardo’s woody vanilla iris/incense trick. But I already have Diptyque Opsis and that one checks these boxes just as well. From the looks of the “reminds me of” list, there are already too many options out there if this is what you’re looking for. I don’t usually care for harsh woody amber bases but it’s nicely judged in the drydown of this one, and L’Oblìo is better off for it as it helps carry the notes well into several hours of wear. I think this might be one of the better ones of this kind of scent. Again, it’s not the bottle from this house I would buy, but it is a very pleasant and well executed perfume. 3.5 out of 5.

Mysterious, sheer, dusty, ethereal. I can't get this fragrance out of my head! Upon first smell, I thought of Gypsy Water (Byredo). Interestingly, I used to like GW until it started to feel "dusty" to my nose and turned me off. L’oblio includes a “dust” note. Turns out I like a dusty quality when it's intentional! The vanilla is soft and woody rather than sweet and gourmand. The iris and maté give it a cool, transparent quality. Like reviewer Chosesvert I get a spritz of orange wood and iris at the start. This has become a great 'safe' scent for me -- something that grounds me and is soft enough to wear to bed, but still detectable on clothing when I wake up.

This is niche parfumery done to perfection. The blend is perfection. The tobacco, is gorgeous and realistic. The incense, very light and not overdone, but so very present enough to lend a unique, subtle smoky quality, with a quiet tea giving a little structure. There is realism in every note. It has a natural semi sweetness, that’s only found in nature; nothing artificial. It’s earth. It’s smoky. It’s powder and dust. It is a dank, quiet place in an edifice of an older era. It’s beautiful, unique, complex, subtle and excellent.

L’Oblìo is a beautiful spicy iris fragrance, layered with incense and warm spices, creating a composition that feels unique and quietly commanding. The mate note is the star here, prominent, bold and giving the scent its distinctive character, setting it apart from the sea of mainstream iris fragrances. It’s the only Meo Fusciuni release I own but it remains one of my most treasured bottles and will stay with me for years to come.

Such a masterpiece. True intense storytelling in a bottle. Meo Fusciuni always does this, it's like following the white bunny in Alice in Wonderland down his tunnel..you never know where you end. The title of this fragrance matches 1000% the dark void woody vibes. Airy yet dense. Amazing, i love being pulled in two direction. As above, so below. Gorgeous

first impressions: The iris and orange in the opening<3 but then it starts to get really weighed down by the base notes, and sort of blends in with the rest of meo fusciuni's woody offerings. finding the perfect spot in a sunny courtyard garden only for clouds to roll over.. I might like it more in the fall

Blend, notes and ingredients done well, it is a nice fragrance. My issue that it gave me such a sad and melancholic feeling that I don’t reached it and didn’t want to wear it.

This fragrance makes me want to eat dry leaves. It is vanillic, dry, woody, and earthy. A gorgeous scent for the scoundrel who grazed on grass and soil as a kid.

Nice, sweet woody scent with just a brief of mate and oakmoss. Skin scent, comes and goes... A softer Bois d'Argent
