Well...three years later and I'm eating my words. That...or it has taken 3 years to macerate fully. Either way...this is pretty darn awesome. In my recent frustrations with all the "Vanilla" candy fragrances flooding the market that aren't worth a darn, I began looking backwards in the timeline and going back to older "Vanilla" fragrances. Then...I remembered...MBCB! I asked the wife for the bottle back last night after 3 years of not thinking about it, just curious to find out if the strength or tone of the fragrance has changed since I first bought it years ago. She hasn't touched it more than twice in the 3 years since I gave it to her, and had no problems returning it to me for experimentation. So I sprayed it once on my inner left elbow yesterday afternoon....WOW! WHAT....IS....THIS!!??!?!?!?!?!! That one spray into my inner elbow the previous afternoon was still very evident this morning. THIS is the smell that I'd read about 3.5 years ago that caused me to become curious about "Vanilla" fragrances. I only wonder why it took 3+ years for the frag to mature to the point of matching the scent tone description. Prior to this current date, it was a thin...citrusy...ambery....benzoic mess that didn't last 30 minutes or project past my skin. I'm fairly certain that it's not just the fragrance that has matured...but me as well. I know more now, have experienced more now and can appreciate this fragrance now. When I first bought MBCB, I expected something like "Bianco Latte"...that nuclear super-sugary-sweet vanilla explosion...when "Bianco Latte" wasn't even available yet. I hadn't discovered "SDV" yet 3 years ago...so I had no clue what a mature but powerful "Vanilla" fragrance was. I was ignorant, inexperienced and completely unaware. No...this fragrance is all about class and style....much like "SDV". It's not a kiddie vanilla...hyped up on sugar and bouncing off the walls. No...this fragrance is a calm, mature and thoughtful vanilla that radiates calm attraction all around. Having reached a certain age, I can now appreciate the composition of this fragrance fully. MBCB isn't nuclear, it's moderate....but so very long-lasting! It's consistent and reliable...like an island in the sea....unmoving...powerful...you only see the tip of it, but there is SO much more beneath the surface!!! I don't think the wife will be getting the bottle back, even though it is 50% full still. I will also petition for a backup bottle on the next holiday. This fragrance is serious. Not quite as boozy as my SDV, but very VERY close to the same scent profile! My bottles of SDV have some VERY strong competition... EDIT: 3+yr old bottle returned to wife, new bottle in-house and on my shelf!!

Mercedes-Benz Club Black EDT is fantastic, believe the hype, its been compared to other popular vanilla/benzoin/amber scent families which it does. Compared to Grand Soir MFK or Althair PDM, the winner is Mercedes-Benz Club Black's EDT. . It's apparent that PDM copied Club Black's EDT because they're about 90% similar, but Club Black's wins, it has a citrus/fresh undertone that really catapults the vanilla forward; its luxuriously smooth, its spices are muted & a true vanilla fragrance. It has hints of floral notes too. While other vanilla fragrances rely on powder, liquor or woods, Club Black EDT is an almost entirely vanilla DNA that respects the base note. Club Black EDT really wins the vanilla men's fragrance, trust me I've tried every men's & women's/unisex marketed vanillas, & nothing comes close to the perfection of this fragrance. It's immaculate. They did release an EDP recently & its nice but the EDT performs better & smells better. Mercedes-Benz really needs to start selling their fragrances online again for the U.S.A market because it's a shame the western world has to buy them in discounters or resale shops. Olivier Cresp has made some of his best fragrance under Mercedes-Benz. . So many sleeper hits exist under this brand & its a shame their marketing is so terrible. It's the best fall/winter fragrance, technically not a true gourmand but definitely a "new age" gourmand . . While it's best for colder weather its citrus smooth undertones could warrent its use during cool spring days or cool summer nights. Trust me, I don't believe in blind buying but if you like vanilla, get this. Nothing will ever beat this & I've tried them all. . . Some cons; just an okay atomizer & cheap bottle but the juice is superb.

Okay genuinely I love this scent. This may be a somewhat biased review as it was my first ever cologne that I got. My dad bought it for me at the mall and I have had it ever since but even to this day I still find it super easy to wear. If you are looking for something that is a easy clean masculine vanilla scent that women will love this is 100% worth the investment. I find this cologne to be one of the most versatile colognes in my collection even though it is a mainly vanilla scent. You get a wonderful dry down experience while wearing this and that tobacco note is actually relevant throughout the dry down which isn't always the case in other colognes. The other thing that just bumps this sucker up a notch in my books is that it is an excellent cologne to use as a layer. Throw this bad boy on and layer it with another scent of a similar vein and youve got a wonder complex blend with that amazing dry down I previously mentioned. For the price I think literally every man should have a bottle of this in their collection. Its a stupid slept on reach and one that you'll most likely get a lot of wears out of. My favorite layering patterns with this are Club Black + 1 Million Elixir, Club Black + YSL Libre, Club Black + Royal Blend and even, Club Black + Rasasi Hawas Malibu

9.5/10 Legit one of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled, will never give anyone a headache, and is so addictive. In the best way possible, if you like the smell of vanilla extract, you will most definitely love this. It smells like vanilla extract (minus the gross-ish alcohol smell) but with a subtle but perfect masculine addition that is hard to describe. It smells like vanilla beans sitting on top of beautiful orange amber, if that makes sense. These ratings seem to exclude summer, but this stuff smells so good and is very inoffensive, so I don’t see why this couldn’t be worn in summer. So so so good, can be worn any time imo. Just makes me smile and feel so clean. Before I bought this, I blind bought Khamrah qahwa and honestly didnt and don’t like it very much. It smells very spicy and gingery at the start. After an hour it smells really good but it’s a very musky and feminine leaning vanilla that I don’t love. Once I bought club black, I realized that it was the exact vanilla fragrance I was looking for. No spice, no ginger, just a beautiful subtle (but still present) darkish vanilla. Again, khamrah q smells kind of has a candle spice, Mercedes Benz has no spice and is like an amber vanilla extract.

Club Black smells like 80% similar to Kayali Vanilla 28 (they share the same rich resinous/bourbon vanilla; Club Black just has less white florals in the mix, relegated to the muddled background and not obviously perceptible as florals). Club Black is basically a pure rich resinous/bourbon vanilla without any additions. Very nice. One of the best vanillas on the market. Winter and fall. Sensual, sexy, cozy. Unisex. Club Black is distinctly different to PDM Althair. Althair has a prominent cinnamon-dusting smell with the vanilla, and is essentially a more muted/dusty vanilla compared to Club Black, wearable even in spring. Whereas Club Black has no cinnamon-dusting smell, and is therefore more rich/resinous. I only have a bottle of Club Black from the new production run, which I purchased 4 months ago (June 2025) in Australia. My bottle initially smelt like NOTHING. It took about 1-2 months with 10 sprays spent for my bottle to maturate into a weak vanilla scent, and a total of 3-4 months to maturate into a rich vanilla scent. Performance is still disappointingly poor, but hopefully it'll improve with time.

As a fragrance enthusiast, I had seen many people call this a great budget-friendly perfume. When I spotted it at the airport on my way back from my trip to Germany, I tested it and really liked it, so I immediately bought the 50 ml bottle. It’s a very soft vanilla-amber scent, and it doesn’t seem overly sweet — hopefully I’m not mistaken, because sweet fragrances make me nauseous. Its performance isn’t bad; I’m getting around 7 hours on my skin, but I haven’t fully experienced its projection yet After a full month and several wears, I can say that it definitely doesn’t get overly sweet. Even someone like me, who doesn’t enjoy sweet fragrances, can tolerate it easily. I think it smells great. I agree that it smells linear from the opening to the dry-down, but it’s an amber–vanilla scent that’s not irritating at all. It feels like a beautifully blended mix of Grand Soir and Althair. Sillage is also moderate—somewhere between medium and strong, not weak

I read about this one for a long time before getting it, but shouldn't have waited so long. It's wonderful. This isn't the most complex fragrance but it excels in its simplicity. After the prominent initial citrus note wanes you're left with a superbly handsome woody vanilla. It's not a juvenile gourmand thankfully, but a super smooth well blended mature essence of vanilla with just enough sweetness but no more. It projects that vanilla clearly, but an up close intimate examination reveals an interplay of subtle floral, woods, and amber along with a lingering touch of citrus, all blended to perfection. When I first sprayed it, I thought there was no way it would last all that long because it was never overbearing even on the opening. But I was shocked to find that a single 7am spray could still be smelled 16 hours later! What a great scent, performer, and value this one is.

I understand why this is so popular ! Very beautiful, mass-appealing, addictive scent of vanilla and incense. The jasmine and bergamot are just there to balance the other notes with some freshness but you can't really smell it. It's a linear scent of creamy, resinous vanilla with incense that resembles soft leather. It's very similar to Jazz Notes, but I prefer this one a little bit more. Performance is also pretty good, moderate projection with great longevity. It was still a skin scent when I woke up the next day. I think "Fortyfree" pulled notes out of a hat or he posted his review under the wrong fragrance because this isn't spicy, at all. There is no cinnamon in this, and definitely no chocolate, patchouli or candied fruit lmao !? Very unisex in my opinion, there is nothing that screams "masculine" about this fragrance. 5/5. Addictive stuff, and it's cheap.

Club Black is an incredibly undervalued fragrance - you can now find it for under $50 and under $40 for a tester. It is one of my favorites at 4-5 times the price. Bergamot is the opening but quickly dissipates. The vanilla notes are magnificent - they don't hit you in the face but surround you. The benzoin and vanilla are rich and not sugary. The two combined are truly wonderful. There's also a woody amber foundation that keeps this masculine. This scent is intimate - not demanding. If you aren't looking for attention, then this is a scent you will be able to pull off and enjoy. And the best part, as I mentioned earlier, the price. I have never found a cologne that smells this good at this price point. It may only last 6-8 hours but at this price reapply! I even spray this on before I go to bed just to enjoy it as I fall asleep! One of my favorites!

This is a beautiful unisex vanilla. A lot of people complaining about the performance of this one; it lasts 8+ hours on clothes at EDT concentration. As some others have said, wearers are probably going nose blind to this rather than it not lasting as long as they expected. Deep, warm vanilla is the prominent note throughout. The opening has a nice bergamot twist that fades pretty quickly. This one, to my nose, has a fascinating effect in direct, hot sunlight, where the resins heat up and it almost smells a little smoky. This is a great base for layering other warm fragrances over or wearing on it's own. Can read very formal or very cozy and comfortable, depending on the setting you're in. The price point alone should make this one a standard in most collections, this smells and performs well above its weight.

Am I the only one who immediately got Spicebomb vibes? It's like a mild Spicebomb with a huge dose of vanilla. I HATE the Spicebomb Extreme (which adds vanilla) because all I can smell is the cumin note and I hate cumin but Spicebomb EDT is in my top 10 fragrances of all time.. wow this totally satisfies that urge to layer Spicebomb EDT with a plain vanilla frag. So good! For ONCE the hype is real. Unisex/leans male, great price can't be beat for this quality...definitely getting a full bottle of this asap. The best male leaning vanilla frag I've tried. Smells young but not immature, not too sweet, not too resinous. Perfect! PS- The DRY DOWN is identical to Althair. 99%. The only reason to get Althair over this is because you like to waste money on flexing a bottle for the guys on Reddit.

This is really nice. Straightforward, unisex vanilla and incense that leans slightly masculine. For fortyish bucks? Can't really go wrong. I see why this one is on every list of stellar cheapies. The vanilla is clean and doesn't lean gourmand or go grapey the way Althaïr does. Not heavy or cloying. The incense is spicy but not really smokey. Citrus gives everything a nice lift. Will almost certainly full bottle this. Edit: compared this to a little decant of Spiriteuse Double Vanille and it's quite similar. I like this better actually. I find it more interesting. It's got a nice little masculine twist in the drydown from the incense and woods. It's less powdery and balsamic and it lacks the rose note of SDV which I don't actually care for. This is a buy all the way.

This is a love at first sniff. I was on my trip to Germany in June, and I went to the Mercedes Benz Museum. After exploring the whole museum (which was great!!!) I checked out the gift shop, not expecting anything, but there I found it. Mercedes Benz Club Black, I heard great things about it online so I went to try it. And... It was amazing. I put on like 10 sprays there. I was tempted to buy it at retail (around $130 USD!!) but I decided to wait a bit, traveling with a bottle would be dumb. I finally got my hands on a bottle. I don't understand how people say this doesn't project well. My bottle at least, performs like a beast, amazing projection and amazing longevity, around 8 hours. Great scent, affordable and all the average person will need for winter.

The opening scent is like sweet tamarin candy, so in Indonesia we have a fairly well-known candy called tamarin candy, this candy is made from tamarind, where the taste of this candy is quite fresh, sour, and sour. Many Indonesians love this candy. And that's what I feel in the opening, the subtle and sweet scent of tamarind candy, I think this scent is created from vanilla, bergamot, and jasmine mixed with ambroxan (my own guess). The initial scent binds me to Crusita - Playmaker, and the drydown reminds me of FA - Liquid Brun or maybe PDM Althair for those of you who have it 😁😃. Even so, this fragrance is quite luxurious for me and is very suitable for wearing to make a deep impression on a date, the type of sweet fragrance I like.

One of the best vanilla of the market and has an affordable price. Bittersweet, boozy and balsamic vanilla ballanced so well with resins and light woods. this is not like "industrialized Vanilla flavor", this the vanilla bean smell, It has the bitter, woody and light earthy nuances. Same quality as Guerlain Double Vanille and Vanilya S.Ishira (the best Vanilla fragrances that I know) Hidden Gem from Mercedes Benz Love at first sniff (for a person that is not a big fan of vanilla fragrances) Strong, delicious, dark and very sexy This is not a "sweet vanilla fragrance for kids". Great for clubbing and romantic moments. Very Powerful performance: easy 10+ hours longevity and so strong sillage for 2 hours. totally genderless

This is a mass-appealing, easy-to-wear vanilla fragrance that feels effortlessly inviting. I love catching those soft, creamy whiffs throughout the day just as much as the compliments from people around me. Honestly, anyone hating on this scent is missing the point—it’s not trying to be groundbreaking or overly complex. Its mission is simple: make you smell good, approachable, and universally pleasant without ever offending a nose. The only drawback for me? You’ll notice similar profiles on plenty of others. They smell great too, don’t get me wrong, but this fragrance won’t necessarily set you apart from the crowd. Still, if you’re after a classy, comforting vanilla that’s always a safe bet, this one delivers.

i have had this fragrance for about 3 months now and i can confidently say this is the best vanilla-amber fragrance. it was amazing when i first got it and its even more amazing now. i just keep reaching for it time and time again. its cozy yet still seductive, and its not just intense sweet vanilla, its more complex than that, its smoky yet not overbearingly smoky were it would be unpleasant, just a perfect balance between delicious vanilla and sexy incense. its gotten better with maceration and has become deeper, the longevity is also perfect 8+ hours on skin. the sillage is perfect as well its created a nice scent bubble that people will smell when close to you, 10/10 all for 40 bucks!

I just picked this up the other day and gave it a try today. It’s a smoky blend of vanilla, amber, and musk—classy, masculine, and reminiscent of a mix between cream soda and vanilla ice cream. Club Black feels more refined and less intense compared to similar scents like French Avenue Liquid Brun and Armaf Odyssey Homme. It leans smokier and less sweet. It’s also said to be similar to Althair by Parfums de Marly, though I can’t personally compare, and honestly, stacking a $200 fragrance against a $40 one isn’t exactly fair to either brand. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for cool or colder weather, especially if you’re a fan of vanilla-forward scents.

I've reviewed this one before, but I have more to say! I haven't worn it much since buying it, because it's been warm where I live, but now that we're finally down in the cooler months and I've been wearing it frequently, I can't help but notice the similarities to Laboratorio Olfattivo's Vanagloria. This is nearly identical, minus the cat piss saffron note Vanagloria has that makes it unbearable to me. Considering this costs peanuts and smells and performs substantially better, I figured I would swing on by and mention it, in case anyone is looking for such a thing.
