Mercedes-Benz Sign

This was the first EDP I ever purchased after having a small collection of stuff you'd get at Hollister and other mall stores, as well as having a love for Diesel OTB all since around 2006, all mostly cheapies... This is the smell that got me into my small collection of "nicer stuff" last year. Made me feel like a baller paying like $110 from I think Macy's or a similar type of store, before discovering the discount stores and feeling like a fool. I wear it to work, in a restaurant, and even with myself collecting the smell of a kitchen all night, running around a dining room, it'll stick with me all night for the most part. I do have to apply what most would call a bit much, but if something seems weak, I just beef it up, and it'll last! To me, it had something to it, that was exactly what I wanted, all while having some sort of a nostalgic scent, that I still haven't been able to put my finger on entirely. I'm not one that can sit here and tell you what is in a scent, as some of the descriptions I read, give me a good chuckle, though I am trying my best to smell my fragrances and really get what is described. I always just know that I'll love something, or not. For me, I loved this one.

I owned a few of these Mercedes-branded fragrances and for the money and the quality, there is nothing out there close to it. This Mercedes Sign is a great fragrance combining a little of the LeMale with Armani Code with Carolina Cobal through the dry down. Add a little Cardamon and you get a more mature vibe. It is an all-season fragrance but preferable during the cooler months or summer nights. I also owned Mercedes Man Bright which is somewhat of a take of BDC and for the $26 I paid at Burlington, it is also a great purchase. You can actually spend $120 and score 4 amazing Mercedes Fragrances which will carry you for every occasion. Nothing niche, but just as good as any designer house with excellent perfumers (Oliver Cresp)

Right out of the bottle you get a peppery violet sharpness that is very appealing. As it moves through its phases, the lavender florals float in and you almost think it’s going a bit feminine. It quickly morphs into that cashmere and patchouli thing in the dry down, but the lavender doesn’t go away. At that point it’s a people-pleaser, inoffensive if not a bit on the safe side. Nonetheless, it works as an office frag or something in the evening when you just want casual and pleasant. On your clothes, it’ll be there the next day. On your skin 6-8 hours. Don’t pay department store prices. It can be had for $50 and that’s about right. Scent 8 Longevity 7.5 Sillage 7 Performance 7.5 Value 7.5

A very nice balance here. I typically don't like sweet frags - but this is good. The cardamom makes it sweet without being overpoweringly sugary. It's got a typical warm amber quality to it but with a slight spicyness and a great freshness mixed in. Pretty nice. If I can find this for maybe $39 I'll buy a 3.4oz. Overspray and it'll last a good 5 hours. Edit Jan '25: A favorite of mine at the moment. This is an easy go to for nearly any occasion. Its aromatic enough to be considered blue & fresh, but with enough sweet cardamom to give it a very modern balance. A good addition to anyone's collection as a pleasant & easy going everyday frag.

This is really good with a sexy vibe. Can be an office scent or simply wearing it while out and about. It’s March here in the Midwest, so great weather for wearing it. I recently picked this one up for a good deal, along with MB Select Night. This is stronger, projects better and lasts longer. Sign is definitely spicy, with a bit of freshness to balance it out. Cool bottle too. Maybe when I am done with the fragrance, I’ll glue the bottle on to the hood of my car and I’ll have a Mercedes-Benz. Cheers my fragrant friends.

Mercedes definitely increase their perfumes quality with the latest lineup since 2021. The Sign EDP and the latest one 2022 The Sign Attitude EDT were good! The Sign EDP is Fresh+sweet+woody and all season wearable except for the high heats 30degrees above. Longevity is great at 7/8 hours. Top Notes : Cardamom, Pink peppercorn Mid Notes : Grapefruit, Apple, Lavender, Orange Blossom, Geranium Base Notes : Cashmere, Patchouli, Tonka Bean

I was going around testing perfume and came across this (Mercedes Sign) at Sasa. I sprayed it, had a whiff of it and bought it on the spot. It was surprisingly good, it smells warm, spicy, sweet, sexy and a tad bit of fresh to balance it out. I'm surprised no one talks about this, underrated af. When you get a chance to smell this do give it a go.

I get this as 2ml freegift vial. Its opening very citrusy, fresh aquatic a bit salty and greenish, almost like Invictus EDT. The drydown has a bit floral woody leathery but not prominent. Very safe blue fragrance for blind buy. Very versatile.

Cardamom forward. Fresh and ozonic. Slightly creamy and powdery. Slightly spicy from the pink pepper. I like it a lot. I would say it's a freshie but all season versatile. I get La nuit de L'homme vibes but fresher.

Such a great versatile scent Sweet orange blossom is what i pick up the most Lasts 8Hrs+ with good projection for the first 3hrs A bit overpriced around 60-70$ Is fair enough 8/10

at first sprays it wont last long. Give it a few months to macerate to become long lasting and it will be on your clothes the next day

I have a bit of pineapple vibes in the opening

Reminds me a bit of Givenchy Gentleman EDT (2017) so I'll do a comparison (two decants). Smelling Sign it's definitely a sharper scent, it has the edge of a synthetically sharp fragrance but it isn't overly pronounced unlike other mass appeal synthetic fragrances so it's not that annoying. The opening isn't as chemically sharp / aggressive as it once used to be after I let it sit for a couple months. Gentleman on the other hand is more soapy, less synthetic, less spicy and more fruitier. It feels slightly more premium than Sign, again, this is likely because of the leather, iris notes in Gentleman as well as the synthetic and chemical bite that's more perceivable in Sign but overall both smell elegant, likely because of the cardamom note. Projection and longevity would go in favour of Sign. Gentleman does not last longer than 4 hours and fades fairly quickly, Sign has a bit more kick and staying power. Two sprays is probably enough. Many folks aren't fans of Gentleman's drydown, but it has an interesting development. Sign is slightly more generic but more generally appealing. Related to this, Gentleman is more limited to a fall/spring seasonal occassion as its only fruity in the opening, limiting summer versatility + it lacks the spiciness and leatheriness for winter. Sign is a better candidate for an all-year-round fragrance, the middle orange blossom note gives it that slight summer versatility imo. Don't have the actual bottles of either but from what I can see onine, I'm not a fan of Sign's bottle. Gentleman's bottling is simpler and more elegant. I'd wear Gentleman to a dinner or a more relaxed party occassion, Sign more for the office / work environment. Probably neither to school or dates.

I’ve owned this for 3 months now and just started wearing it due to the cooler weather in my area. I tried wearing this in August with temps in the mid 80’s and 2-3 sprites but found it to be out of place for the season, meaning to cloying and not my thing. Now that’s it cooler here is what my take on this MB Sign. Warm and soft with good projection for a few hours then a noticeable skin sent. It’s not multi faceted. As one reviewer mentioned it’s cardamom heavy with the Tonka bean and cashmere woods right behind it. I don’t pick up any of the other notes mentioned on fragranica except maybe lavender. I think this is a decent men’s fragrance but not one that will make a statement or stand out. I’ll be wearing this around the house and during casual days out and about running errands. It’s definitely office professional and school safe. As for MB fragrances I think they have some very solid fragrances and thier price points are great,but the edt’s lack performance. My favorites of the MB line up are Select, Club Black, Bright edp, Club extreme. The two stand outs in my opinion are Man private and La parfum. Those two are imo are 10 out of 10. #1205 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a standard "Invictus" style freshie, and we all know, if you own one, you own them all. You could slot this right into the middle of the infinite Paco Rabbane "Invictus" universe, and this would add nothing you don't already have. But this is one of the better ones out there, and it's very inexpensive. So if you're in need of a freshie for summer, you could do much worse. I dislike these kind of awkward sprayers, but I can live with it. This makes it to lunch, then you'd respray. Warm weather day wear you could wear to the office or for causal wear.

Great opening with the cardamom and the pink pepper coming trough hard but well rounded with the violet leaf, after a bit the lavender comes trough very mild but giving this "kick", the Tonka gives it a good sweetness throughout the all time and in the dry down you get the cashmere and patchouli but very soft not a harsh patchouli. I don't get the orange blossom nor the geranium in it, but there is a very very little, just a hint of a flowery touch. All in all a good fragrance from Mercedes, for me the best one they made to date.

Very good value. I've smelled similar scents before but can't place it. Maybe Armani code, maybe one of the prada fragrances. A bit like ralphs club but less fresh. Some montblanc legend parfum vibes too. Bottle looks cool but sprayer is gimmicky. Good fragrance for an office & general all season wear. Masculine but not overpowering. Probably the best blind cheapies I've bought. I want to get sign your attitude next.

Scent is blue, easy to like, versatile, a little sweet. I mostly get the cardamom and violet on top of lavender and tonka. Performance is moderate. Approriate for most ages and occassions. Bottle is impractical and gimmicky. If you have several blue fragrances, you could pass on this, but if you're in the market for one, this is worth your consideration.

Super meh. Nothing's going on here. Fresh, a bit sweet, modern concoction. Just ok and longevity is very average. Mercedes still haven't been able to put out a great fragrance.

very nauseating its very sweet and spicy good for winter and very masculine

smells like mix of: - Bvlgari Wood Essence (especially in the base) - Mercedes Ultimate - Jimmy Choo Intense - Calvin Klein Defy - Spicebomb Night Vision EDT - Armani Code EDT (especially in the base) - put a random similar generic woody-sweet-scent here Oliver Cresp mixed them all in one bucket and put in tacky, plastic hideous Mercedes flask. The Mercedes logo on the bottle is too big and "in your face". I preferred Club bottles or rounded ones. 7/10

Nice enough fragrance for sure, my nose enjoys it! What is undeniable is it’s similarity to Valentino Born in Roma, the violet leaf absolute is undeniable in both and at the forefront of both compositions with the MB Sign saying it focuses around the Guatemalan cardamom note, which I can smell but it isn’t what is pushing the fragrance to my nose. Curious to see if others find them both incredibly similar!

This doesn't remind me of anything to the extent to claim it is "inspired by it". This does its own thing, but it is reminiscent of classic fougere men's fragrances, made slightly modern. If you are a guy 30+ and want a fairly unique but also timeless and familiar signature worthy composition, this is for you. It lasts a long time and gets compliments too!!! 9/10 for the price and for what it does!!

This one is similar to the "reminds me of" votes above and I also think this has Ultra Male vibes. Just replace the pear in Ultra Male with Guatemalan Cardamom and you have this Mercedes-Benz sign. It smells nice, modern and interesting. Mass appealing for sure, but not for everyday occasions. The box-shaped bottle is annoying to use, but let's not get offended by it.

This is such an underrated beauty. To me, I gyro that slightly peppery Violet top, with apple, cardamom and Tonka. I do agree with TLTG with his comp to UltraMale. This isn’t as screechy sweet as UltraMale , the light peppery and “watery” notes keep this from being cloying.

@Hugo Montez I have to disagree with you there. I'm impressed with the quality and variety of MB fragrances to date. I think that Intense, Silver, Cologne, and Le Parfum (I have all of them) are all excellent and desirable for example, and are great value for money too.

If you have a benz, then this should be one of your car accessory. Notes presented shows nuances of a generic-type smell, but I could be wrong. Bottle is a sure winner in terms of the design. Looking forward to hear great reviews from people would tried it.

Yeah, this sounds like something I don't need. Yawn. The note tree reads like a direct ripoff of Mercedes Benz Le Parfum with a few deletions.

Similar idea with Ralph's Club, both released in the same year. Benz Sign seems to be spicier and a bit sharp for the first hour or so.

Haven't smelled this one, but from the note breakdown and knowing what Cresp is capable of, this one should be great!

@Hugo Montez - Club Black is excellent and MB Cologne is a very good clone of Dior Homme Cologne. That's 2 at least.

Dry down smells like vomit to me. I have a few sampler vials if anyone is curious enough.

Good for a man for work. Good quality in my opinion
