Out of Reach

Out of Reach is one of those fragrances where the official note list sounds like the marketing department may have gotten a little carried away: pear gelato, ice, sea salt, aquatics, citrus, ginger, cashmere wood, sandalwood, vanilla, and musk. As a marketing executive, I normally roll my eyes when I see “fantasy” notes like ice and gelato in a fragrance profile. They often sound more interesting in the press release than they smell on skin. With Out of Reach, however, I have to give them credit: you genuinely get both. Opening: Hours 0–2 Out of Reach opens with the familiar framework of a fresh summer fragrance: orange, lemon, lime, ginger, and a little pink-pepper sparkle. Those notes create the initial brightness, but they are not the main event. The star is an unbelievably addictive pear accord. It is juicy, smooth, creamy, and somehow cooling at the same time. Imagine finding a container of gelato that has been buried in the back of your freezer, its lid and rim completely covered in frost. You pop it open and smell that frozen, creamy edge around the container. That is the closest comparison I can make to the opening of Out of Reach. It does not smell like literal pear ice cream, but it creates a convincing impression of chilled pear folded into something soft and creamy. The “ice” accord also does more than simply make the fragrance smell fresh. It gives the pear a frosted texture. During this stage, Out of Reach occasionally toes the line between fresh summer gourmand and feminine fruity fragrance, but it never fully crosses into either territory. The citrus and ginger keep it bright, while the emerging salt, woods, and musk prevent the pear from becoming sugary. It remains fresh, modern, and genuinely unisex. This opening is the reason I bought the bottle. Mid: Hours 2–4 Between the second and fourth hour, Out of Reach begins transitioning toward more familiar summer-aquatic territory. The aquatic notes and sea salt become more noticeable, the sandalwood starts coming forward, and the musk creates a soft, radiating hum around everything. The creamy pear remains present, but it loses some of its initial juiciness. Rather than disappearing, the pear seems to become slightly less ripe. It shifts from a soft, dripping pear into something firmer and a little greener. I do not mean that negatively. That evolution allows the fruit to blend naturally with the cooler aquatic notes, woods, salt, and musk without turning the fragrance into a sweet fruit bomb. This stage feels less playful than the opening, but it is also where the fragrance starts showing how well constructed it is. Nothing abruptly drops away. The pear gradually cools and tightens while the aquatic and woody elements rise underneath it. Full Dry-Down: Hours 4–8+ Once Out of Reach reaches its full dry-down, it begins reminding me of another popular summer fragrance I have worn frequently over the past month: Loumari Porthole. To be clear, I would not call Out of Reach an inspired-by version or a direct alternative to Porthole. They simply occupy a similar space during the dry-down: salty aquatic woods, warm skin, lingering fruit, and a subtle spicy freshness. In Out of Reach, traces of ginger and pear continue floating over the salty woods and musk. With Porthole, passion fruit fills that role. Personally, I find Out of Reach considerably smoother, and I prefer the combination of salty aquatic woods and pear over Porthole’s salty aquatic woods and passion fruit. This stage can begin feeling slightly more masculine, as some other reviewers have mentioned. It is not masculine in a blunt “this smells like a man” way. I think the association comes from the fact that salty woods, aquatics, and musks have been used so heavily in masculine-marketed summer fragrances. The dry-down is probably my least-favorite portion of the experience, but that says more about how exceptional the opening is than it does about the quality of the base. It remains smooth, pleasant, and easy to wear through the end. Overall Scent Profile Out of Reach is original, extremely smooth, and actually takes you somewhere over the course of the wear. It begins as a juicy, creamy, chilled pear fragrance with bright citrus and ginger. It then moves into cooler aquatic territory before settling into salty woods, sandalwood, musk, and traces of fruit and spice. Most importantly, it never smells like someone simply combined a gourmand opening with a generic aquatic base. The transitions feel deliberate, and the pear changes alongside the rest of the composition rather than sitting statically on top of it. Performance Longevity: Around 8–10 hours on my skin. It becomes a faint skin scent somewhere between hours seven and ten, depending on the day and conditions. Sillage and projection: Out of Reach radiates pretty aggressively for the first four hours. From roughly hours four through seven, it pulls back into a more intimate scent bubble before eventually settling close to the skin. The scent profile itself is office-safe, but the opening is stronger than its fresh and creamy character might suggest. I would stick to three or four sprays in an office. Overspraying this could absolutely become irritating to coworkers who are sensitive to fragrance. Gender and Vibe Perfectly unisex. The opening may lean slightly softer because of the creamy pear-gelato effect, while the salty aquatic woods in the dry-down may read slightly more masculine. Taken as a complete wear, however, it sits comfortably in the center. This feels ideal for summer days, casual weekends, outdoor dinners, vacations, and warm evenings near the water. It is polished enough to feel luxurious but relaxed enough that you do not need to dress around it. Value I bought the 100 ml bottle from Venba for $240 after blowing through a 5 ml decant in about two or three weeks. With the size of my collection and the number of fragrances in my rotation, I almost never finish a decant that quickly. When I realized I had already reached the bottom, I knew this was something special for me and bought the full bottle. I understand that plenty of people will scoff at spending $240 on any fragrance. For me, the quality and overall experience justify the price, especially compared with many other niche fruity aquatics sitting in the $250–$400 range. I have spent most of this summer sampling fragrance after fragrance in this specific lane. Out of everything I tried, Out of Reach was easily the best. Knowing that several of the alternatives cost considerably more made the purchase feel like money well spent. Final Verdict Out of Reach manages to be creamy without becoming heavy, fruity without becoming juvenile, aquatic without becoming generic, and sweet without losing its freshness. The pear-gelato opening is the addictive centerpiece, but the evolving fruit, salt, aquatics, woods, and musk give it enough structure to remain interesting across a full day. This has become one of my favorite summer discoveries and one of the rare fragrances that made me move from a decant to a full bottle almost immediately. TL;DR: Out of Reach opens with an addictive, juicy, creamy, and genuinely cooling pear-gelato accord over citrus and ginger. It gradually transitions into sea salt, aquatics, sandalwood, musk, and smooth salty woods, eventually landing in a similar general territory to Loumari Porthole, but with pear instead of passion fruit and a much smoother execution. Perfectly unisex, strong projection for about four hours, 8–10 hours of total longevity, and worth the $240 I paid after I tore through a 5 ml decant.

WOW!! Okay I’m not a tropical fragrance girly. If describing factors are tropical and fresh then I’m usually out the door on to the next not even giving the fragrance a further look because I like dark resinous vanillas. I like gourmands with slight florals. I can handle fruity notes if they are like nectar or compote mixed with Oud or some deep woody ambery base. I don’t know how I ended up losing at this scent I know I recently fell head over heels for Guava Sorbet Elixir from House of Brandt because of how nectary and creamy sweet it is so I guess it made me want to find another juicy fragrance that’s intoxicating for summer and I know from Kheir’s slow sip that I love a good lime note and when I saw that this fragrance had a gelato note with lime and ginger which I LOVE nishane’s Ani so I can get down with a ginger in certain profiles. Not to mention I’m a huge book reader and have been my entire life so as a collector of fragrances I knew i eventually needed a Mes Bisous book for my collection I just always thought Balle Rouge would be first because of my recent Iris obsession but something told me to give this a chance and this blue shade is gorgeous so I took the blind leap of faith trusting that the salt note would flirt with the sweetness the way the salt comes out prominent in the salted caramel from Sasva’s Forbidden Words Bombay Gourmand because that was the first fragrance where I smelled salt and it was a clear salted caramel surrounded by this decadent smooth oud but that’s another story for another day but it’s why I had hopes that the salt and the sweeter notes would flirt in a cohesive way and they do. This fragrance does give off aquatic vibes because it smells like salty sea breeze and it feels like you can smell a cold refreshing ice like instead of gelato you’re smelling a very creamy lime and ginger popsicle sprinkle with sea salt from the sea breeze and it’s just.. wow. It does make you feel like you’re sailing out of reach with a tropical creamy dessert to cool you off in the tropical heat.. this fragrance is a lot of things I thought I hated but when I tell you I’ve been in love and intoxicated from the very first spray.. first sniff.. oh my god. It’s so good and it is fresh but thankfully not in a fresh shower or laundry or shampoo or soapy way because that’s the type of fresh I hate and run from like I want my fragrance to smell intoxicating not smell like my shower it’s just not my vibe I like attention grabbing and this does that. I see the vision the owner had for this fragrance and it’s a mesmerizing one. The salty breeze and some sprinkle of lime stick around in the drydown where vanilla and that creamy woody coziness comes out and the salt just pairs so well keeping the fragrance so unique and just completely intoxicating from start to finish it’s something you want to keep smelling but I will be honest that opening is such a beautiful and unique shock to the senses in the best way I mean wow.. it’s already top five maybe even top three best openings of a fragrance ever because it’s not just original and unlike anything else but it’s wowing. Head turning.. refreshing but in this alluring way. This is like a sail at sunset with creamy deserts and maybe the salt is coming from sea breeze or maybe the salt of a lovers skin as you lick lime pear and ginger sorbet from their skin. I say sorbet because I don’t get the richness of ice cream or gelato this feels more icy fresh like Italian ice or sorbet or creamy popsicles. I’m also so in love I’m reviewing the day of receiving this so I may come back and update because I know fragrances settle and macerate so maybe the gelato will get more thick and decadent and if so then I’ll update but even as is this fragrance is a perfect release for hot weather it’s so good my mind is actually blown and now I NEED to see more from the house to know if the quality is this amazing across the board because if so.. I’m going to be collecting some more Mes Bisous books. Balle Rouge is next. I’m glad I started here with Out of Reach because it’s shown me that my nose isn’t so picky and there are gems in other categories I didn’t think would be for me so I’m glad my gut told me to get this. Can’t wait to see how this smells in a month or so because I’m already crazy obsessed. Hopefully I don’t dent this too badly before I find the will to give it a break..

I have to get this off my chest... some dude below said this “ The bottle is incredibly basic. Semi-matte soft paint with a sticker on the front. The sprayer is above average, and the cap is basic. It doesn't scream luxury or unique, which at this price point, it should.” I respectfully disagree.... I think the bottle is perfect for the juice and represents playfulness and fun.... Who cares if the bottle is plain or basic ? Do I wear the bottle or the juice inside the bottle? This isn’t a Frenchy french dark and ambery, raised pinky kind of scent....its not.... even the presentation that houses the fragrance is amazing and it’s shaped like a book that you open and there the juice sits.... Amazing marketing in my opinion and well worth the price because I don’t really give a shit if the bottle is “hoity toity” or not... it’s the juice I care about and this Extrait doesn’t disappoint... I live in Florida and it’s hot here with a lot of humidity, and I think this fragrance shines in this kind of climate, that Pear fruity sweet opening is appetizing and playful, the marine notes, and woodiness musk on the dry down is simply intoxicating, I picture being on a beach, drinking a fruity drink with a small umbrella in it, taking in the saltiness of the air and marine whiffs coming off the oceans crest... playful, fun and even has a bit of sweetness that I think women will certainly go for if you’re looking for compliments..definitely worth the money and don’t let fragrance snobs in this forum deter you from a great smelling juice... not all good smelling juice has to be in a “fancy swanky” bottle

Bwahahahhaha! This is another scent that smells maniacally good. Sheesh. This scent is the first 30 min blue Talisman by exnihilo then it transitions to a softer vanillic Porthole or God of Fire, then its a soft salty tropical creamy lime confection upon dry down that makes me salivate. With this scent you are definitely at a beach drinking one of those coconuty/pineapply lime slushy drink only the islands can make best. Unisex. Unisex. Unisex. Saw the comparison to Sex Sea and think that's cool because that's like 20% of it as a whole note by itself (for anyone that hasnt smelled Sex-sea it is a sweet Uber salty beast mode scent that is just that linearly, and this scent uses that scent like it is just a single note) The pear is distinct with the creaminess coming from the Gelato and then there are other fruits. At first sniff it seems to borrow a few key notes from passion island and makes it saltier, creamer and more citric. This is just a winning formula so count me in! If anyone says they dont like this safe everyone loves me scent, we simply do not and cannot have the same olfactory sense. And I could never take tour fragrance recommendations nor you mine. Love love love this. Will be my SOTD for a while(at 2 days thats my while...have far too many scents) 4.8/5 one heck of a summer banger!

The Perfect Balance of Pear Gelato and Sea Salt, A Masterpiece Out of Reach is, quite literally, a luxurious Mediterranean vacation bottled up. When I first spray it, energetic citrus freshness welcomes me, but the perfume reveals its truly unique character in the heart notes. The pear gelato (ice cream) accord combined with the rich vanilla absolute and soft musks in the base notes adds an incredibly delicious vibe to the scent. This touch completely separates the perfume from conventional, ordinary summer fragrances, leaving a gorgeous silky effect on the skin that makes it feel extremely rich and smooth. There is a magnificent Balance of Salty and Sweet in this formulation. I am absolutely in love with how it transitions on my skin during the dry-down phase. As it settles, the sea salt and musk step in, perfectly tempering the sweetness of the pear ice cream. Compared to the herbal, green, and grassy freshness found in fragrances like Pacific Chill, Out of Reach possesses a much softer, warmer, more inviting, and alluring aura. If you are tired of typical citrus-heavy summer scents that vanish too quickly, and you want a long-lasting, “aquatic-silky” signature that beautifully blends with the skin, you should definitely give this a try.

The opening is subtle bright citrusy freshness. Very airy, almost like a breeze coming off the water during summer or late summer. The pear gelato accord is very surprising and addictive. It gives creamy, slightly sweet texture that softens the citrus & marine notes beautifully. It smells clean and skin-like, not overly aquatic or “blue” (as some ppl will call it) More like warm skin after a beach day rather than an aggressive marine fragrance. (i’m not a huge marine type scent kind of gal- some marine scents tends to be masculine too; this one is very unisex). The dry down is smooth, comforting, very addictive. soft musk & vanilla absolu give it this intimate warmth & leaves a noticeable trail, has that effortless luxury vibe. I’m already on my second bottle and gave my bestfriend a bottle too. Performance on my skin was surprisingly solid for something this airy. Around 7-8 hours with a soft but noticeable projection, on clothes probably about good solid 9 hours. One of the better modern aquatic-musky releases I’ve tried recently. Very wearable, very addictive, and easy to fall in love with.

Out of Reach really lived up to the hype for me. The opening instantly gives that beach feeling, with a juicy, icy pear that almost smells like a pear sorbet under the sun. It’s fresh, addictive, and super smooth, with a slight sunscreen vibe that really sells that “beach skin” idea. As it dries down, it slowly shifts into a more marine direction, like you’re drifting further into the ocean. It gets saltier, softer, and more aquatic, but still keeps that clean freshness in the background the whole time. Performance is also really solid for this style, with good longevity and projection. It’s definitely on the expensive side, but the quality and the whole land-to-sea journey make it feel special. Overall, I’d give it a 7.5/10 — really good, but not quite a must-have for me.

This is such a “happy” little fragrance; smelling it should put a smile on anyone’s face. It’s slightly fruity, slightly creamy, and slightly salty. The ginger gives it a little pop. The pear is perfect and brings out a little Blue Talisman vibe, while the hint of sea notes brings a little LV Pacific Chill. Yes, it’s like BT and PC had a baby. The dry down is a fruity/musky scent. I typically do not are anything about the packaging, but you have to love the Mes Bisous packaging. I was able to get a large bottle at a discounter for less than $200. Overall, this is tough to beat for a summer option. Rating 9/10.

I recently got a sample of this and really liked it - it’s sweet, fruity, and creamy on my skin, and lasts forever. Think of a keylime pie that accidentally had pear lotion poured on it. I ended up immediately purchasing a full bottle. I think it’s perfectly unisex, fresh, and very clean smelling. I really appreciate the softness the freesia, vanilla, and gelato add to this. Dry down is very lotion-forward, in the best way possible. Wearing this makes you feel like a clean-smelling person. 9.1/10

This smells like a luxury beach escape bottled. What surprised me most was how creamy and addictive it becomes on skin. The salty marine vibe mixed with that silky vanilla-gelato sweetness is honestly stunning. It somehow feels clean, seductive and comforting at the same time. Performance is amazing for a summer scent too. I keep catching soft trails of it for hours. If you like fragrances that feel expensive, effortless ad a little bit escapist, this one is absolutely worth trying.

A surprisingly addictive take on aquatic scents. Not your typical fresh aquatic. This feels silky, almost edible. The contrast between salty marine notes and creamy sweetness is beautifully done. The vanilla absolute gives it that sticky, long lasting trail without making it heavy. This will be my new signature summer scent!

I started wearing this perfume recently and I have been getting so many compliments from people around me it has a fresh sweet and velvety feel with a bright citrus marine opening and a clean musky drydown it is not too heavy but still very noticeable the projection is really good! love love love <3

strong fruity creamy ice cream delicious

I was very excited for this perfume because I like trying new citrus forward scents, but in reality it sounded better on paper. Maybe it’s my skin chemistry, but the strong ginger and lime scent top notes overwhelm any subtlety brought by gelato or lemon or other citrus scents upon spraying. Middle notes are mildly aquatic, but I also got a weird whiff of fish. I’m not sure what sea salt and ice is supposed to smell like. The perfume fades away into a strong woody musk that smelled more masculine than I expected. I don’t hate the perfume. I’m sure it may smell great to others. I’m not sure I personally would buy another bottle.

usually i don’t find myself drawn towards citrus scents, but this is great. summery pear and lime. smells edible. i pick up on the gelato as well which is really interesting. i was worried because citrus, ginger and aromatic notes tend to be overused in a lot of designer colognes which i have an aversion for. however, this has it’s own identity and is super appealing to me

Blind bought a 100ML bottle out of intrigue after everything I heard. The most enticing statements were how this was reminiscent of Pacific Chill. Unfortunately for me, I did NOT get that vibe whatsoever. If they're in the same family, it's only by marriage, and even then, it's to a 3rd-cousin. This is one of the strongest fragrances I've ever sprayed. My second wearing, I sprayed a single spray, and it immediately enveloped my bedroom. Within 60 seconds, my wife got a headache from the overwhelming scent. I am going to have to learn how to use this one. I thought it was strong, but not THAT strong. What this smells incredibly similar to is Armani Prive Bleu Turquoise--probably 75%. This is a more unisex, leaning feminine, version of that. By proxy, it's also then got some similarity to Tom Ford Oud Minerale or Costa Azzurra. The gelato note is what I was most intrigued by. I guess I get it, but it's not as gourmand as I would've liked. The other notes (particularly the florals) are so perfume-y that it drowns out what probably is a great accord on its own. This aspect makes this lean so feminine; note that is coming from someone who often prefers unisex scents. The bottle is incredibly basic. Semi-matte soft paint with a sticker on the front. I don't find it worth the $270 price tag, and at the $189 I bought the tester for, I wish I got something else instead at this point.

After experiencing the wonderful Passion Island, never thought I’d be so disappointed with this release. The mishmash of the sweet gelato notes clashing with the marine accords wasn’t successful here. It reminds me a bit of a flanker of the Dolce Gabbana Light Blue line, Love is Love. They also tried mixing the ice cream accord with the marine DNA of Light Blue, and also wasn’t nothing exciting to talk about. Soft projection and slightly above average performance. So glad didn’t pay much attention to the hype and only bought a decant.

Either I am broken or my bottle is. This is extremely faint on me and disappears after a couple of hours. If I press my nose to the fragrance I get what everyone is describing, fruit and creamy goodness with an aquatic backbone. But the barely detectable whiffs I get in the air just smell generic masculine blue. I will definitely have to revisit this one after some time.

This is such a banger. The opening freshness is the kind that makes your eyes roll to the back of your head. It almost gives off a cooling and relaxing sensation, that is the best way I can describe it. The pear gelato note is so unique and interesting. I don't find it very similar to Blue Talisman - the ginger in BT is quite present along with the mandarin orange, but in this you mainly get lime / pear / gelato fresh creaminess. I can see the small resemblance to some of Lorenzo Pazzaglia's aquatic scents, but this feels a lot higher quality, and less pungent. The ingredients used here give off a silky smooth feeling, as opposed to a harsh aquatic sea water feel. The saltiness is done just right and gives a slight contrast to the sweetness. Nothing overpowers anything else, they just work perfectly together. This will be one of the next 'hyped' fragrances and for good reason. I plan on getting a full bottle ASAP! Also, the person who described it as an 'Oceanic Pacific Chill', they are right. I would add to that though and say its an Aquatic Pacific Chill with creaminess underneath :)
