Michael Kors for Men

For Men by Michael Kors after a rocky start has been re-released. The wait was worth it. It is a melancholy sophisticated love song singed around the edges with a bit of a broken heart. It is smoky and moody, lush a mix of cocktails and regret and in the end filled with a longing for something lost and just beyond ever finding again. It is beautiful. This masculine fragrance is perfect for fall and winter. It is magnificent on a man but boy could a woman wear it well and smell great. It would be the olfactory equivalent to a woman wearing her boyfriend’s crisp white dress shirt with jeans. Or nothing but the shirt. Effortless and elegant on both sexes in ether a formal night out for theater and a late cold supper or on a sunny fall picnic in Central Park. It works so well for any setting. That’s what I love about Michael Kors clothes and his two fragrances in his men’s lineup. The nose is Harry Freemont who also created among many fragrances CK One for Calvin Klein, Modern Muse for Estee Lauder and Grey Vetiver Eau de Toilette for Tom Ford, and of course the fist men’s fragrance for Michael Kors, Michael. It opens with a dominant and beautiful star anise, which shines in a dark kind of glamour as the coriander, thyme and pepper buzz just below this star giving it that signature you will recognize from the opening of Michael from 2001. There bergamot that is there is very light and almost imperceptible to my nose but what is wonderful is the addition of the elemi that adds a smoky sweet melancholy to the opening and sets everything up for what is to come. The fragrance moves into its mid notes with the most wonderful twisting tendrils of incense that rise up like a cobra from a snake charmers basket. But there is also something wonderful in that basket, a wreath of sage and the smoothest richest suede note I have smelled in a long time. It is simply entrancing and here is where the beauty of the fragrance departs from the generic designer signature and enters into the realm of fine perfume in a classic style. The dry down comes on with the masculine lines of fine polished wood, a nearly caramelized sandalwood, lush rich layers of patchouli and musk add just the right light to the fade out and final curtain of this fragrance. Now for some the bad news comes here. The longevity on my skin is not great, around four to six hours. The sillage is moderate which depending on your taste and personal style can be a good or bad thing. But for me this is not a make or break issue since I am a proponent of the liberal and lively art of the re-apply. Being a designer scent the cost is very reasonable for what you get. I was at Macy's sniffing around when I came across this fragrance, and I was not expecting to like it at all.. But when I sprayed it first thing I though was "not bad".. I kept sniffing the card and decided I had to spray it on my wrist.. I sprayed three squirts on my wrist and enjoyed this fresh spicy scent all day long.. After a few days I went back to Macy's again and gave the fragrance a full wearing.. I really do like it and if I had the money I would have bought it right than and there.. Michael Kors opens up fresh and spicy, with notes of bergamot, coriander, star anise, pepper, thyme, and elemi.. The opening is very spicy and different but has a very nice fresh vibe going on.. I attribute some of this to the elemi which is a resin which can have a citrusy vibe.. As the fragrance progresses it warms up a bit and the suede comes into the picture with a touch of incense and some sage.. The base is very simple with patchouli, sandalwood, musk and other woody notes to ground the scent.. All of these notes are a bit hard to differentiate because they all come together really well and just create the scent that is Michael Kors for men.. I also smelled some type of sweetness in there that smells like a dried fruits note to me but it is not listed in this Michael Kors, but it is listed in the original.. This fragrance is very different from everything else on the market, and that may be why it is getting horrible reviews.. People are saying it smells like cat piss and I see where they are getting that from.. It is the combo of fresh bergamot, elemi opening and spices like pepper and star anise.. That so called "cat piss" vibe is actually a big reason why I love the scent.. People complain when a scent is to generic but than when there is something a bit to different they complain about that to.. I think this is one of the better modern releases along with Fan di Fendi Pour Homme, and they are both receiving tons of unwarranted hate.. This scent can be worn year round but I would choose the warmer weather to sport this scent, because it is fresh enough but still remains interesting.. The price is also not that bad, so please give the scent a try before you knock it.. The longevity was amazing on my wrist but when I gave it a full wearing the projection died down fast.. Only if performance were better Michael Kors would be a real stunner! I have not smelled the original but I hope to try that one out to before I make the decision to add this to my collection..

Michael Kors for Men is a spicy, aromatic and woody fragrance. It has a citric-fruity and spicy opening, where an aniseed, incense and elemi chord is distinguished that make it very aromatic. As the minutes pass, the citrus leaves, but the aroma of a woody base increases, which is complemented by a soft suede accord and some aromatic spices such as thyme and sage, making this fragrance a very masculine and attractive. This aromatic set gives me the illusion of smelling a tobacco accord too. Michael Kors for Men is a fragrance that could be worn almost all year round, maybe except in summer, because although it is spicy, it is not heavy. Perfect for office work, outings with friends, and is probably more appreciated by older men. Speaking of its performance, the batch that I have is regular, it lasts a maximum of 8 hours. with regular to low sillage, I remember having tried it recently launched in 2014 and its performance was greater than 10 hours. I suppose it was either reformulated or it aged poorly. Compared to the 2001 version, there are not many differences, maybe less intensity of the fruity and tobacco notes, but the smell is very close in both versions. It seems to be discontinued now, but I'll enjoy it while I have it.

A magnificent fragrance !! This is unlike anything I've smelt before !! I absolutely love this fragrance.. Immediately after spraying, I get a boozy, "honey-like" sweet-resinous (absolutely heavenly !!), woody smell.. After about 25 minutes, the boozy note fades away, the incense smell starts appearing and the woody note starts to dominate.. The sweet-resinous note doesn't change much and stays in the background.. The woody note smells a lot like the shavings from a freshly sharpened pencil.. The combination of the incense and the sweet-resinous-woody smell just blows me away.. Projects very heavily for the first 30 minutes.. Projection reduces to about an arm's length after that and stays like that for 5 or 6 hours.. Lasts for more than 6 hours.. Beyond the 6 hour mark, the perfume lasts mainly as a skin-scent.. But, if sprayed on clothes, the smell lasts for more than 12 hours.. One last thing.. This perfume is very strong !! Therefore, I would advise against using this on those very hot (more than 35 degrees Celsius) and humid tropical summer days.. The smell might cloy you out.. On all other days it should be fine.. In my opinion, this perfume smells the best during the late fall/early winter period...

What in the world just happened? I have been desiring to make this fragrance a part of my collection ever since I smelled it the first time.. Well I went to the closest Macys to test it again and possibly purchase it, but it was GONE! They told me that they had to pull it off the shelves and did not know why.. I was so disappointed and shocked due to the fact that this fragrance was just released no more than two weeks ago.. I called other Macys and found one about 40 minutes away that said they had a bunch of bottles.. I drove there all the way in the rain and when I got there no Michael Kors in sight, and the SA's could not find it.. One of the ladies looked in the back and after 20 minutes of disappointment she found me a bottle and let me have it! I have no reason why this fragrance has been pulled of the shelves not even two weeks after its release, one women told me on the phone that something was wrong with the juice? I hardly believe that.. This stuff smells awesome to me and I will update with a review later.. Good luck ever finding this one again, I think I am the last person on the planet to find this scent..

I first smelled this fragrance in 2014. I remember it being pushed heavy at Macy's. I was traversing the streets of NYC and stopped at Macy's to use the restroom. However, I cannot simply pass a fragrance counter. A sale attendant was spraying MK for Men and she sprayed it on my arm. I was not impressed. I thought it was very close to Axe's Anarchy for men. However, that was not my first impression of the scent. My friend had worn samples of it and I was always impressed how it smelt on him. So I was perplexed. Fast forward to 2018, and I find this at Marschall's for a decent price. I put it on and I was in love! This is such an intoxicating scent. It is perfect for the fall. The suede is prominent and the patchouli flirts with the resins. It's a wonderful scent that I will never be without. It has entered the upper-echelon in terms of my collection.

"Update". The sample I sprayed on my jacket sleeve yesterday was still strong the following day. With that, I bought a bottle today. This is a strong masculine scent. It lasted on me all day. It even lasted through a workout and then a shower. This is definitely not for everyone. I love scents that you can smell on your jacket days from when you sprayed it. This has turned out to be a strong intoxicating masculine scent for me that projects and lasts like you want it to. Great find!! My favourite frags are Michael Kors For Men 2014 Tom Ford Extreme The One D&G Calvin Klein Encounter Tom Ford Grey Vetiver I seem to be drawn to a spicey scent rather than a citrus or aquatic. Good news everbody! The new reformulated Michael Kors from November 2014 is great! It takes the same scent of the first formula release and smoothes it out.. The first formula was receiving a bunch of mixed reviews.. Some could not handle the sour tangy tart note mixed with the spices.. No need to worry about that anymore.. The scent has been smoothed out, and tamed all while still keeping the same overall scent.. The good thing is that it actually smells much better! I will update with a official review for this formula which Micheal Kors is sticking with.. Please try the new formula you might like it.. I am in love!

It is an Excellent Fragrance, Masculine, Modern, Unique and Airy. The combination of the spices : Coriander, Star Anise and Black Pepper with Elemi , Thyme and Bergamot in the opening then Incense , Sage and Patchouli in the background , with woody notes in the dry down. This smells so good and very pleasant, perfect for the fall and winter. I really enjoy it and I'm so happy that I have it in my collection. Longevity is very good , This perfume has high quality composition similar to Niche Quality. Highly Recommended. Bravo Monsieur Harry Fremont ! Two Thumbs Up. Rating : 9 / 10

Love it!! Tried it for the first time today. I got the "wow" factor that "The One" by D&G and Tom Ford Extreme gave me. This scent is not all that far off from"The One". It definitely lasts longer. Projects great for about 6 hours and then it calms down to a closer projection. Even then you'll still be smelling it when your moving around. I will be buying a bottle for sure. I have to say that this is right in the middle of "The One" and TF Extreme. If you like those frags, then Michael Kors For Men is a great frag that will last longer then "the one" and cheaper then TF Extreme.

I am a big fan of the old Michael For Men, and I must say that the new one doesn't disappoint. It takes the old Michael, and smoothens it out, removing the rough edges and adding a freshness to it. Where as the old one was a full one fall/winter fragrance for me, this one is much more suitable for year round use. The tobacco accord is pulled back, though still present, whilst the fresh top notes are amplified. Overall I am very happy with this one. A solid everyday scent that is different from most of the popular stuff out there. Rating: 8.5/10

Smells expensive, sophisticated and with great character. 100% worth the price, it even out performs a lot of the big name brand fragrances. This fragrance quickly rose to my top 10 favorite list and that's for a reason. If interested, just take a walk into a sephora and ask for a vial sample. note this is the 2014 edition, Michael kors for men, not Michael for men. Longevity: 8++ hours Sillage: a very noticeable arms length.

Wow, just wow. I was so surprised at just how lovely this fragrance is, had to buy a back up bottle straight way. I have never done that before as I have so many bottles in my collection and I rotate quite often. I get pretty decent performance, put on before bed and could still smell when I woke up, albeit a skin scent. If you like The One D&G, give this a try, I actually prefer this.

Best blind buy for me this year. Snatched it for $20cand I am loving it. It is not a scent for clubbing, but perfect for office or formal gatherings in the the colder times of the year. Maybe for a more mature crowd rather than teenagers. It last more than 6 to 7 hours on my skin and over 12 hours on clothes and projects way above average. Such a pleasant scent.

Michael Kors did right by this one. This is a perfect designer suit and tie fragrance. Just the right amount of spice, just the right amount of sweetness, with enough personality to be completely unique without screaming "HERE I AM!". Don't let the reviews fool you, this IS after all, carrying the name Michael Kors, and I believe it's doing its name justice.

I Love this 2014 release so much more than the first. I did Receive two batches. One was Amazing, and the other one was not horrible...there was obviously something wrong with it.I have a 100ml bottle that is perfect and 10ml that smells spoiled at the top with the same perfect dry down. I Love this juice and will definitely be making it last.

Michael Kors for Men is a really good fragrance. You definitely get the star anise, patchouli, some leather, and what smells like a light tobacco to me. It is really strong and performs very well, as I get 10+ hours and major projection to start. People will think it smells nice. Solid release from Michael Kors. 9 of 10.

Great smelling fragrance. smells great for 30's plus, without the extreme patchouli smell, gives the wearer a great sense of character. This is the type of fragrance to wear to a job interview, or an important event, where you want to stand out and be noticed. Great job Michael Kors. This is one of my top ten favs.

I got Michael Kors for men as a Christmas gift. At first spray it reminded me of the original Michael Kors only a bit lighter. I love the anise and incense combination. This fragrance soothes me for some reason. Perfect for Fall/Winter. I love it!

This one took me by surprise. It smells way higher quality than the price may suggest. Aromatic, spicy, musky scent. Definitely on the "darker" side. Not a woman puller, more of a dominant boss-like scent. I respect the hell out of this scent.

Very good news everyone! This fragrance is coming back in its new and "retweaked" form on November 1st! It will be a Macys exclusive once again.. Lets hope that it will last on the shelves for a bit longer than two weeks this time..

MK4M is predominantly a thick suede incense. I get a blast of bergamot in the beginning which stays in the background for quiet sometime. The patch and pepper gives it a warm sensation. Contemporary and intriguing. LOVE LOVE.

Wow the drydown of this one is almost identical to Burning ice from Iceberg, the topnotes are very different tho and its not as sweet as burning ice, but i liked it very much and i will buy me a bottle very soon.

Oh this is killer! Exquisite. Addictive, even. Smells so good it almost makes me angry. Performance is moderate at best, but if I overspray a little I get surprising mileage out of it.

Grown man sexy. This is a great smell to draw them in. Safe for the office, I wear it to work & it is alluring for sure. A great cold weather scent that projects confidence with class.

Manly Fury. I can’t help but think MKM is everything that Dior Sauvage professes to be: sleek, relevant and doused with the divine. Johnny Depp, you signed with the wrong house!

It's what a 30ish rich man would wear, leather jacket, white shirt underneath, luxurious accessories, driving a ferrari. Smells citrusy, oriental sweet. Very unique and rich.

It's a shame this was discontinued, it was one of my fall/spring/winter office scents. Spicy, mature, but not "old". I enjoy these modern takes on old school classics.

I get something very sweet, probably elemi mixed with bergamot, very warm but also has that oriental feel. Also more suitable for older men, maybe in their 30.

Brandied fruits, clove, soft suede and pipe tobacco. What and underrated gem. Perfect for the Christmas parades or the snow bunny pageant. Rich and decadent.

Fans of the 2001 original version - “Michael” - will enjoy this update as the DNA is still there minus the powerhouse longevity and projection. The prominent tobacco note is toned down and blended right in the middle of the juice with a dash of spicy pepper, a smooth suede and a mild sweetness from the sandalwood. If you are familiar with the differences between Polo Green and Polo Modern Reserve, this is essentially the same re-composition. Tone down the tobacco and add sueded leather. Or, if the original is a pint of Guinness with a shot of Jameson, then this one is a chilled Harp Lager. What, you didn’t know Michael Kors was Irish!? IMO, the Michael Kors men’s line gets a bad rap when in fact the juice is well blended with original compositions compared to other designers offerings. The simple blocky rectangle bottle design and less than creative flanker line (EXTREME!!!) probably don’t help much. Give it a sniff anyway... 3 stars.

As others have said, the projection and longevity is poor. I managed to find a bottle from 2014 and it’s better in performance but not by much. If you can buy an older bottle for reasonable price do it. The scent between new 2019 and older 2014 bottles is the SAME. I questioned the differences between this and the older 2001 original Michael Kors, but found this for a deal I couldn’t pass up. I still would like to try the original but differences of opinions on here have me shaking my head. This is still a good scent, boozy, semi-sweet, patchouli woods, but something is missing. It’s also one of those scents that gives the impression of it being ‘watery’ and fleeting. I’m going to have to try the original 2001 Michael For Men and see if what’s missing in this, is in that version. ?????

My biggest issue with this scent was surprisingly longevity. It comes out of the vial with a mission and purpose, but around the 3 hour mark it fades to a whimper and then by 4 hours, there is nothing left of this potentially impressive scent. I like how it starts out, it brings to mind (in the slightest way) Viktor and Rolf's Antidote, that sort of incense top, and it has underneath an almost boozy undertone, which I like very much. But, by the time it gets down to the bottom notes, if you can smell them, you're better than me. I'm going to start an online petition for Michael Kors for Men EDP. Now that would ROCK!

My husband and I sampled this today while out shopping and ended up getting this for him. I have to say I really like this fragrance and find that it is extremely well balanced and frankly, quite sexy! This reads spicy, peppery, slightly herbal and overall emits a feeling of warmth. The anise and incense accords are done masterfully, as there is a sublime subtlety going on. There is also some fresh elements here from the tender herbs and the lime. I understand there have been some issues with batches, but thankfully we got a winner today, and on sale to boot! Fabulous.

This is a nice fragrance that could easily be unisex. There’s an initial burst of citrus that settles as the fragrance progresses. For me it’s a sweet, but not cloying, leather and smokey scent. Smells of sophistication for a very formal setting rather than casual or clubbing. It’s suprisingly fresh that gives it a light touch, therefore making it more versatile. You could easily pull this off in spring and cooler summer days by regulating the sprays. Not a love or repurchase, but worth keeping till my 50ml runs out.

It's ok. For me to purchase I really got to love it to sit next to my 30 other bottles . . I love tobacco scents, I get Tom Ford tobacco oud with a sweet smell to it. . On my skin it changes. If it smelled like it did on the card I'd love it. It dries down about an hour later and it changes too much and has a note I cannot detect that I just don't like... Scent 9/10 at first.... Overall 7/10 Projection. 6/10 Longevity 6/10 This could be worn year round. Casual. Not bad but I'll pass....

Very strange perfume indeed. Sweet, smoky balsamic "oriental". The "piss" note is overstated in some of the reviews here. There is an acridness in the first 60-90 seconds but it doesn't stay and isn't really "piss" exactly. I think its a mix of the anise and coriander mixing with the sweetness of the Elemi. I like it and am going to continue testing it. Update: only moderate longevity and sillage.

I have the 2001 Michel EDT and I'm considering buying the new release, however, it seems they might be very similar. Can anyone provide a comparison of the two and if it would be money well spent investing in the new one? Thanks!

somehow on my acidic skin this becomes reminiscent of soapy scents such as zest and irish spring.

It just so happens that I put my nose on this fragrance when it was initially released (July, 2014) at my local Macy's where, at the time, it is one of their exclusives. I didn't care much for the original Michael for Men (2001) when I first sampled it since I found it to be a decent enough cigar tobacco'ish scent, but I felt the dried-fruits and plum notes were mucking-up the composition. Anyway, I was hopeful that removing the plum and dried-fruits would reveal a really nice tobacco fragrance...except, in this case, they also removed the tobacco. I didn't have a good feeling about Michael Kors for Men (aka Michael Kors Titantic Edition), and I was correct. What did I get out of this fragrance? It smelled extremely similar to their (2001) concoction...only the new scent was very faint when sprayed onto the card (literally had to rub the card against my nostrils and take deep breathes to smell it) complete with mucked-up dried-fruits accords and an unpleasant sourness. Since I didn't cologne after leaving the gym, I applied two-sprays on my left wrist. Fortunately, I could barely smell it...and what I could smell was the same unpleasant odor sprayed onto the card. As Charles Barkley would say, "This stuff is terrible, terrible, terrible...knuckleheads." When it released during July 2014 and it smelled like a light version of Michael for Men along with the a strong accord of cat urine. Although it was quickly pulled from the shelves, some of the initial "cat-pee" batches are still out there. Regardless, I later tried the new Michael Kors for Men (you think they coulda thunk up a better name?). My hope for this fragrance was that it would retain that rich, wonderful tobacco house ambiance, remove that dried-fruits mess, and smooth-out the plumb note. Instead, some genius removed the tobacco and somehow delivered a watered-down version of Michael for Men. Although not a bad fragrance, this one just smells like something is missing. In all fairness, after watching a few positive reviews from the YouTube community, I decided to give this one another whirl. The YouTube reviewers got this one wrong. I picked-up several samples (almost 10-ml) from my local Macy's store and wore both fragrance--the old and new one--on consecutive days over a four day period. I have concluded Michael Kors for Men is, indeed, an ultra-light version of the original...minus the rich tobacco accord. It's a toothless Tigers. Whereas the original fragrance lasts forever (16-hours and I could still smell it clearly on my skin) this new variant is soft and disappears like a fart in the breeze. Much like a man released from 30-days of solitary confinement to frolic among the Swedish Bikini Team, MKM has no staying power. It shoots its opening and then lays around useless, serving no purpose, until falling asleep on one's skin. Disappointment and shame ensue. Michael Kors for Men is a castrated version of its former self, which explains why they removed the name "Michael" in this interpretation. It's not a horrible fragrance...but it is horrible when compared it to the original version. Two thumbs-down and an El Stinko! for discontinuing the original scent. On a positive note, I have a new-found love and respect for the predecessor Michael for Men. This successor is best when left alone.

Dolcethadon, I think there was something wrong with the juice, just not all the juice. If you look at the reviews here there are comments about how it smelled putrid and some that say it smelled nice. I did a review of this on YouTube and said it smells like pepper and B.O. It is extremely rare for a product to be pulled from the shelves this quickly, in fact none of my coworkers have ever heard of it happening this fast. I am guessing that there might have been some good batches out there and some bad, or something got into the bad batches. I was able to find some card spray samples and compared it to the tester bottle I had and there was a huge difference. The tester (which was made from live product since we weren't sent one) was nasty with the pepper and BO smell, the sample was more pleasant with a light tobacco vibe to it, but it didn't last long at all. This whole ordeal is pretty strange, but hopefully we will get answers soon. They don't have much time to get the bottles back on the shelf for the christmas season and if they have to make a new batch that would be extremely difficult and costly. Hold on to that bottle, it may be a collectors item :)

I tested this in store and upon first spray I was immediately repulsed!! It stunk like b.o. or a sweaty armpit smell. It smelled like a worse version of the original which I kind of like. This has a very spicy oriental feel to it but everything smells like one big spicy mess!! There is no defined opening, middle, or base that I could distinguish and I just kept getting wiffs of an older gentleman's cologne. Not my style. My girlfriends reaction was she said it smelled terrible. She made a grimace and walked away quickly!! Sorry Michael Kors but stick to women's fragrances!!

This is smell masculine indeed in a mature way (doesn't mean it's bad) IMO. I my self not into this such scent. For me smell not that special, easy to find such scents in a cosmetic little store or in the supermarket such every other fresh men's colognes. Enjoy for you guys whose loving it. I got this sample because... and "again" bought my marvellous one of DHi. Will save its sample to my collection as stuff that didn't use. Peace.

I don't know how I totally feel about this cologne. I recently recieved a sample from my sister, and liked it when it was more cloudy, and rainy out compared to hot and sunny. I mean I don't HATE it but I don't like it. I think it's too strong for me since I have a sensitive nose, and get headaches easy from strong smells. It's decent but not something I'd pick up. I think it's because all I smell is the incense. :/ :(

So I was at Macy’s like a year ago and I came across this fragrance and decided to try some on and the initial spray was actually quite great. It was little sweet, spicy, and sorta smelled a little like honey(I love honey). So then I decided to buy a bottle of it and the next day I tried some on and it literally lasted like 2 hours on my skin. No joke I haven’t wore this scent ever since

Well nice aroma but poor performance, I have bought a bottle AND guys I am very sad about the sillage AND longevity on me, 30minutes AND that Is all, about 10 sprays AND nothing. Sorry Michy, I think your products does not work on my skin because I have the same issue with extreme night (note I bought them in Siman, its a huge departament store) Bacth A86 year 2016

Smells like cheap 98¢ shaving cream. Same as with shaving cream the scent won't seem to go away. No thank you for for me.
