511 Black Tie

So I purchased this last fall. Does it smell like Sauvage? Well, it's similar. Is it a clone? No. Honestly, I have Sauvage EDP - they smell similar, but not the same. I don't have a cultured nose like some, so I can't pinpoint the difference, but both smell different on my skin. However, both (Sauvage/Black Tie) smell like Zest Soap/Irish Spring - and I love those soaps! If you like Sauvage, you will like 5.11 Black Tie. I like both a lot. I could even imagine liking one and not the other, because they do have differences. In terms of value, 5.11 Black Tie is a great value @ $80. I feel like it is a more quality scent than what I have found from some 'clones'. It has good, but not overwhelming projection, and lasts for hours. Due to the fresh scent, you can wear it all year, IMO. I don't really think it's a date cologne, but a solid office scent.

A very well produced Sauvage dupe. Removes some of the metallic flavor from Dior and chunks in a little more juniper. Atomizer is quality, like all MM bottles. I don't smell heavy florals. It just hangs out in the back of the room waving. I was able to snag a bottle for <$60, and even though I have the whole Dior Sauvage line, I am happy I got it. I wouldn't pay full retail, especially if you already have any of the Sauvages. Projection, longevity, and sillage are above average. To cap; - Very well done Sauvage-esque all-arounder fragrance - Don't pay full-retail - May be a redundant buy for most people who own Sauvage - Different enough to warrent a buy for those frag-head people like me

Here is the notes copied off the bottle: Top Notes: Bergamot, Guatemalan Cardamom, Pink Pepper. Mid Notes: Wild Sage, French Lavender, Elemi. Base Notes: Vetiver, Indonesian Patchouli, Cedarwood. This has a Suavage, essence, especially in the opening. The dry down is smoother than Suavage. So if you like Suavage but not an ambroxin fan you will enjoy this, performance is good. This could be a signature scent, and an all occasions all year scent. Plus this is not on most people’s radars, so this will separate you from others. On another note my wife can not tolerate Suavage, but she loves this on me.

I guess I'll be the first to say I like Ktoret 511 Black Tie. . I'm not a big fan of Sauvage (although I have the EDP, and people really like it in the air), but this is more...buttery. It's a really nice, warm spicy take on Prada Luna Rossa Carbon. It's funny how the ingredients can be so different and yet mix to make such similar scents. Where Carbon is more playful, Black Tie is more serious. Where Sauvage is more aggressive, Black Tie is more refined. It hints at a well-put-together gentleman.

The notes as listed are wrong. See @ napasonoma for the correct note down. While this may put you in the mind of sauvage this is not as sharp. The smoother edges of this allows for the citrus to sparkle a bit more with the sage and lavender. Signature scent worthy for sure. Office safe. This is spice, subtle herbaceousness with a clean and sparkly citrus. I recommend!! 4.2 overall! Decent longevity and sillage. Great for all seasons!

This is a beautiful fragrance. It’s Sauvage for people who don’t like Sauvage. Doesn’t really smell like Sauvage though. It is more fresher and lighter, like if you took bergamot and green tea and mixed them together. Not a strong green tea like Silver Mountain Water though. It lasts 4 hours.

Awesome scent good to dress up in. Will definitely get compliments. Only thing I’ll point out is that the graphic notes displayed on this website are not accurate with the actual notes that are in this fragrance

I wore this yesterday. What a pleasant surprise! I definitely get the Ginger midnotes and the dry down of tonka bean and sandalwood. Great office scent not overpowering but subtle in a good way

I love this scent profile. Very smooth and gets me a ton of compliments. If you’re looking for a signature scent this is it. But don’t tell nobody!

Upon first spray, I was immediately struck by the bright citrus notes that greet the senses. There’s a distinct Sauvage DNA present right from the start. It’s evident that Black Tie takes inspiration from the original Sauvage, but it smooths out the metallic edge that the original has, making for a more refined opening. Within a few minutes, the scent evolves, and I noticed the ambroxan starting to project nicely, accompanied by a subtle lavender undertone. This combination brings an added layer of sophistication. As it dries down, a soft woody aroma emerges, rounding out the scent beautifully. In terms of longevity and projection, I found that Black Tie really excels at the beginning. It projects well for the first couple of hours before becoming closer to the skin by around the five-hour mark. After about six hours, it transitions into a skin scent, fading away completely shortly after that.

Decent scent. I got this at the mall and it grew on me. Suitable for the office, but I wouldn't mind taking this on a date. Feels a lot like a sweeter, less subtle, and way more synthetic Dior Sauvage. Definitely is a mall-tier scent. Decent longevity, modest sillage. I really appreciate the dried fruit notes at the top and the more masculine notes at the base. I got a 100mL bottle for $100, which I think is a bit too much really. Decent scent, if you want it and have the money, go for it. I wouldn't actively recommend it though. Edit: Honestly, i think the low sillage makes it really good scent to wear to work if that's your thing. Still doesn't smell as good as other things.

Notes are wrong as others have pointed out. Love this scent, reminds me of cardamom and pepper spiced green tea. The problem is - its gone quick. A trick I use is layering it with platinum Egoiste which helps a bit but for the price maybe I would not buy this again. At $30-$40 this would make a lot more sense.

I agree with what a lot of the others said. It's a more serious take on Savauge, smells like Zest soap, and is more refined. It's still a clone though, so nothing too interesting.

this cologne is good, better than Sauvage Dior, hands down🥰

The opening consists of juniper berries with dried fruits in the background. Dries down to a light musky, amber fragrance. Fragrantica does not state it, but to my nose there is ambroxan in here. Smells clean, sexy and masculine. Initially, I was stoked with this fragrance. Had me at first smell. I had dreams of wearing this with a suit and tie or on a night out in the city. Unfortunately , the longevity leaves a lot to be desired. It projects decent for about 1 hour then disappointingly dries down to an extremely close skin scent. Although this is not a very rare characteristic for a fragrance to have, this is the only one in my collection that does this so extremely. It absolutely disappears to my nose. I rarely experience nose fatigue, and according to fragrantica there is no ambroxan, so i dont know what to make of it. Scent: 8/10 - Clean, sexy, spicy, very masculine. Longevity: 4/10 - See above Projection: 3/10 - Bipolar projection. Goes so hard for the first hour then completely disappears. Overall: 5/10 - Very pleasing scent profile. Performance is none existent. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend due to the latter.

This stuff is weak AF i'ma just leave it at that. Barely smells like anything on skin and gone in 30 minutes as well 🗑. Once again and I'll keep saying this about Micheal Malul London fragrances, they have beautifully made scent profiles, but projection and sillage definitely are really big issues for this house. These fragrances are worth 30-50 bucks tops not 130-140 that they are asking retail.

This smells like any generic cologne hotels will sit out and it only lasts 30 minutes, hate that I spent $100 on this at the mall because the gift set looked cool.

511 Black Tie should aptly be renamed 7-11 Boloney Cologney - a generic, fresh, drugstore scent you can pickup in crunch for $10 to mask one's BO. You're welcome!

I got a sample of this and it smells exactly like Zest or Coast bar soap. Imagine any bath soap or shower gel geared towards males and this is that exactly. Fresh and clean 100% generic bar soap that you can get at any grocery store. The perfumer is only as good as the quality of ingredients they're working with. This smells cheap. Very linear. Nothing to see here. Nothing special or interesting here either unfortunately.

Everyone in the comment section needs to get their noses checked, because 511 Black Tie smells NOTHING like Dior Sauvage ... not even close. I want to preface this by saying that I smelled black tie for the first time this December in the year 2023, so the notes are different than what’s listed on fragantica. As a matter of fact on Michael Malul’s website, these are the exact notes listed for 511 Black Tie ... Top Notes: Bergamot, Guatemalan Cardamom, Pink Pepper. Mid Notes: Wild Sage, French Lavender, Elemi. Base Notes: Vetiver, Indonesian Patchouli, Cedarwood. I don’t even get hints of ambroxan. I hate Dior Sauvage with a passion, it makes me feel sick to my stomach whenever I smell it or anything similar to it, so trust me when I tell you that I would be able to spot a Sauvage dupe from a mile away. Sauvage is an ocean fresh scent with hella ambroxan, and is suitable for the summer, and not much else. 511 black tie is a citrus woody scent suitable for fall, winter, and summer, and can be worn all year round. To recap, let’s stop calling this a Sauvage “dupe” and “clone”. These are 2 vastly different fragrances, and I would choose 511 Black Tie over Sauvage any day.

I don’t like Savage but I absolutely love this! They’re not close at all, maybe a hint, a hair but that’s it. Black tie is sweet spicy and balsamic. It’s so clean it has piney remnants like from scrubbing a bathroom with Comet. It’s spicy sweet like pinching a freshly picked lavender bud. The freshly cleaned bathroom carries to the end due to the fresh patchouli and cedar. I bought a back up bottle because who knows how long this scent from Michael Malul will be around. I never want to be without it. Major commitment fragrance.

I got this as an add-on for purchasing another fragrance, and what a wonderful surprise this one was. I keep seeing a comparison to Sauvage, but it seems far closer to Fragrance One’s Office for Men. On the opening it is an ambroxan bomb and smells distinctly similar to Office. The cardamom adds a nice spicy component. This is office-safe, blind-buy-safe, and very masculine.

Once it dries down, it smells exactly like dior sauvage specially to the general public. That strong ambroxan note in sauvage is toned down by a lot hère. So if that’s your thing, get it. With 6-8 sprays, I get 8-10 hours of longevity and 5 hours of scent bumble before getting closer to the skin.

Kind of blind bought this one and am disappointed since it smells like a less peppery & smoother Sauvage. Having already own Sauvage it’s a bit redundant in my collection. If you don’t already own sauvage it can be an okay alternative but I hear there’s better/cheaper ones out there.

Super easy dumb reach good quality and well priced fragrance. Shares that DS, Prada LRC dna but its its own thing.. Fresh, manly, clean super versatile fragrance.. I also love that not too many people have it.You can use this anytime, anywhere any occasion..

The notes listed on here are incorrect. Does anyone know what the process to get the notes changed on fragrantica is?

Rich, strong, lovely smell. Literally smells like Sauvage elixir mix with Sauvage EDT without Dior price tag.
