Edgewater

#1657 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Got this as a sprayette sample from scentswithsense.com. Another nice scent from Michael Malul. A bright, warm weather freshie, using the “throw in everything but the kitchen sink” scent approach, in this case using 24 notes. It's the sort of approach I find most often with Brazilian houses, especially Natura, the “Homem” scents ,like “Aromaticos”, “Cor.Agio”, “Absoluto”, “Essence”, “Verum”, “Especiarias”, “Elo”, “Neo, all completely interchangeable. This approach yields pleasant and inoffensive scents that I doubt even the perfumer who made them, Veronica Kato, could tell one from one another. Think scent lines like Azzaro’s “Chrome”, everything Nautica and Tommy Bahama. But this is an EDP, so lasts a little longer than those, even though no freshie really has staying power. This scent is a versatile and moderate performer, Summertime daywear. Nice enough, but definitely not worth $125-150. Purebrasil.com has all the above Natura scents I mentioned for around $70. I collected every Brasilian EDP they carry, and in the process realized how generic they are as a group. Of the ones listed above it matters not at all which you get. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

One of my favorite things about Michael Malul is their selection of premium sample sizes, and not a tiny 2ml. They put quality into their samples/travel sizes, and it shows in the feel, look, and a great atomizer. All of that, and somehow they keep it at a fair price. Because of the quality samples, any release from MM&GS, I get it's sample first before a whole bottle. This one is probably my second favorite in the GS line-up. Smells super fresh, and green but not overbearingly so. The thing that makes this fresh scent stand out (to me) is that it has this slight creamy feel to it. The coconut is just sitting in the corner at the party, not like Le Beau or Fusion D'Issey. To me, it's a great all-arounder as far as time to wear it. Like most of MM's fragrances, this scent lasts a hot minute and the sillage is pretty stout. I will buy a full bottle for sure. I do not get Greenly with this smell, but I can see how it could be considered a second or third cousin.

This frag is soooo good. I haven't disliked any of Ash's fragrances. I haven't been able to try out South Slope yet but am looking forward to it. I only have this frag in a 15ml sample but the thing has a pressurized atomizer! Never have I seen a sample that was pressurized before, ritzy! This scent is sweet and light but with depth or a savoriness to it. Although, every once and awhile I catch a whiff that smells like WD40 Silicone spray but maybe that's just me. Great frag though, recommended and easily blind buy safe. You can get Jet Black, West Loop, Edge Water and Terra Nova samples, 2 10mil & 2 15mil for just $60 on the Michael Malul website. That's a steal for frags this high quality imo. I'll be back for full bottles of each of those though when my samples run out.

I think this is super underrated. The opening is fresh, green, minty, just a hint of spice. At the same time you get a smooth coconut and almost vanilla. Those combined was super pleasant to smell off first sniff. The green notes dull down overtime and the sandalwood, cedar and vanilla notes seem to "step forward" more. I think you can wear this scent anytime of the year.

I got this in a few hours ago and I have to say, I love the opening of this. It's like a less fruity sweet version of PDM Greenley's green apple note mixed with green fig and a touch of mint. It's fruity, semi-sweet, and clean all at the same time. It dries down to a woody, tonka base. It is definitely suited for the spring and very versatile. These are just my first impressions. Overall, I am enjoying this. The quality is great and well-blended much like the previous iterations in the line. This doesn't smell exactly like anything else I own yet a little familiar at the same time.

I sampled a couple of other scents from this house a couple of years ago and wasn’t wowed. I like Ash’s channel, and being a Chicagoan I had to pick up travel sizes of his two new ones (especially since I work in the West Loop). Tried this one first. It’s nice. By no means is my nose trained to detect a lot of notes like the pros, but I definitely pick up greens, a little of the mint and a lot of the coconut and vanilla. It’s more complex than I was expecting. So far, so good. May get a full bottle after I try West Loop.

All of Ash's fragrances have been good! The 15 ml samples are a Steal with the pressurized atomizers. I've got Terra Nova, which is my favorite of his. I've got Blue Ridge, which is now South Slope. I've got West Loop, which I really enjoy. Then I've got this one, which is nice. I pick up the coconut, fig, and greens mostly. It doesn't smell like Greenley. It's an above average performer. I got over 12 hrs longevity on West Loop, which I believe to be better than this one. These are all worth samples, try em out.

So, when I first tried Edgewater, I was almost repelled by the somewhat sharpness of the grapefruit note. It was not the opening that I was expecting. When I think green, I think Polo Cologne or Green Irish Tweed. Once the initial shock wore off, and I gave it a few more wearings, the fragrance grew on me. I am looking forward to wearing Edgewater this spring. Michael Malul should be proud of their collaboration with Ashton. Now, if he could stop bashing some of their other fragrances....🤣

This shares some similarities with Greenley only in the opening and nowhere near the bounds of calling it a dupe. Same family but still completely doing their own thing. I picked me up a 15ml and I don’t think I’ll be needing anymore. This is one of those scents I’ll be wearing for myself so it’s perfect they offer a travel size sample. Quality travel size with a nice atomizer at that. If anything, I can recommend a travel size. Good release by Ash.

Honest opinion... Absolutely hated it first spray, reminded me of a busy roundabout filled with landscaping cars, With a hint a mint gum. After awhile it smelled amazing (maybe 30 minutes) absolutely love the dry down and it really allows you to smell all the hidden notes you don’t get at the top. My new go to day scent, been wearing it 3-4 days straight and have gotten around 2-3 complements every time i’ve worn it.

Its quite pleasant, nothing ground breaking as I mostly get the green notes and a lot of coconut so cant really smell other notes listed that much. Safe, green and fresh.

Don't just spray try it once. On paper: The opening - you get the citrus, a slight spice, the mint does give it a cooling effect. As it dries down, I get a lot of Grapefruit rind (which is probably the Petitgrain) some Leathery notes (Saffron most likely) in the far dry down I do get a light tobacco, patchouli, hint of sweetness from the Vanilla and Tonka Bean. Overall nice sent on the paper. On my skin: The first try- Rubber! After letting it dry down, I hit it again on the same spot and I was able to get more. Off my skin, the second spray, the saffron overpowered the top notes very quickly. It does settle down, finally becoming a leathery, woody lightly coconut, with a little bit of sweetness, and a hint of green sent. Not bad past the opening. My skin type is dry, so it is higher on the pH scale. That very well could effect how this fragrance smells off your body.

I'm tired of this house and their antics. Do they make great scent profiles YESSSSSSSSS, do they last past 2 hours at minimum NOOOOOOO !!️!!️!!️!!️!!️ The Esquire and Gents Scents line has to be the worst let down of the whole house 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾. The Tkoret line is so far the most decent of the house, and that's not saying much in my opinion.

This reminded me of Coach Green except with Apple instead of kiwi. A creamy fruity scent that’s slightly spicy. The apple note seems a bit synthetic to me. It’s ok, but I’m not a huge fan of green scents.

Opens up minty and citrusy. Overall has a good green citrus smell. Projects only for about the first hour and at about hour three is down to a near skin scent.

Not sure if I got a bad bottle.... I've collected over 800 colognes(plus hundreds of samples) and there's been a whole lot that aren't my style or ones I've had to scrub off, but I never smelled anything quite like this. Which makes me think maybe I got a bad bottle. Smells like the NJ Turnpike between exit 13 and 14 and there's a tractor trailer in front of you that is burning his tires or brakes up. Like a burnt rubber polluted atmosphere and looking at the notes and other peoples comparisons......maybe I got a bad bottle??

Fwiw, I love Greenley, but do not like this. It gives me the same ick as Azzaro Wild Mint. The mint/greenness must be similar, so if you like that fragrance, you might like this. Similar to other reviews, I also had the immediate thought that there's a rubbery smell going on as well. Thankfully, I waited for the 15 ml travel sprays, which I think are a decent value for trying these fragrances out. (Out of the 2 new releases, I like West Loop way more.)

A bit funky, has a weird mix of green woody grassiness combined with a soapy floral quality that puts me off. Plus the lactose and coconut dont really make a welcome addition. Overall, just a lot of different scents happening that dont really go well together imo.

Selling a bottle just worn once. Message me if interested.

Everyone has a pretty valid point on their opinion of this fragrance. However, I want to point out that Edgewater is simply not for everyone. I've been testing this fragrance for a few years now and here's my honest take. Edgewater is definitely its own fragrance. It's different but oddly familiar. Performance on it is about on par with every MM fragrance 6-7hrs. Projection is average. It's not a room filler, but its clean, and versatile. Who is this for? This for the guy who's working inside an office setting, and just wants to smell clean, and approachable. He's not there to please everyone. He's just looking to put in his 8hrs and leave. This is also a fragrance he most likely got as a gift, because it was $40 at Perfumania. This also for Ash's Fans. Final Thought: Clean, Fresh, and Versatile. If you can find this for $30-$40 which is the going price at Perfumania right now because its discontinued, I'd say pick it up. Anything higher than that, doesn't make sense.
