Ocean Noir Parfum

Ocean Noir Parfum has a deep blue character with a richer, darker kind of freshness. It is fresh, but not in a bright shower gel way. It feels deeper, smoother, and more refined. There is a level of depth here that reminds me of Bleu de Chanel Parfum. I am not exactly sure which note is creating that effect, but there is something in the mid that gives it a resinous, elegant quality. It feels polished and masculine without becoming too heavy. It is definitely BDC adjacent, but different enough to have its own identity. Compared to the original Ocean Noir EDP, I would say it is probably about 85 to 90 percent similar. The DNA is clearly the same, but the Parfum feels more mature, less bright, richer, deeper, and a bit more refined. I own both, and I personally prefer the Parfum. That said, I still think the EDP is worth having because it develops differently on skin and in the air. Both last all day on me, although the EDP projects slightly more, but not by a huge amount. Id wear them for different occasions. The EDP for errands and outdoor stuff like going to amusement parks and such. The Parfum for work, indoors events where I want to smell good, clean, professional and fresh. You could easily use them interchangeably, but for classier things I'd do Parfum. Overall, this is a really good fragrance. Elegant, fresh, masculine, rich, and very wearable. I like it almost as much as my Bleu de Chanel fragrances, which is saying a lot.

This fragrance opens beautifully, immediately hitting you with a bright oceanic accord wrapped in fresh pepper. A clean, shower-gel style lavender sits just beneath the surface, preventing the opening from becoming overly spicy while adding a crisp, masculine freshness. As it develops, the scent transitions into a gorgeous, perfectly balanced floral and pepper heart. Throughout the entire wear, it maintains that signature blue shower-gel character that makes it so easy to enjoy. In the dry down, a smoky incense slowly envelops the composition, adding depth, maturity, and a refined professionalism without overpowering the freshness. This is an incredibly office-safe fragrance that excels in casual settings, yet it’s versatile enough to be worn for more formal occasions as well. The scent itself is a perfect 10/10 for me, but there’s one major flaw: the performance. I don’t need a fragrance to project across the room, but I do expect solid longevity. Unfortunately, this delivers neither. Projection is soft from the start, and the longevity leaves a lot to be desired. Even with those shortcomings, I love the scent profile so much that I’ll happily continue buying bottles. It simply smells that good—I just know I’ll have to overspray to enjoy it throughout the day. Scent: 10/10 Performance: 2/10 Overall: 7/10

I love this one! Never tried the OG but this scent is AMAZING and one of my favorite frags that I own. My one and only gripe that I have is longevity. Perfect if you are going out for 3 hours or less however. I will have to try the OG someday

This stuff is fantastic. I never had the original, but this is amazing. Smells kind of similar to YSL le parfum, old batch. Very close vibe. I own that, but don’t think it’s redundant. Big win of a fragrance.

Better version of the EDP it’s deeper and smoother. Projects strong well for about 3-4 hours and overall lasted me a good 8+ hours. Even a close skin scent the next morning after wearing it.

A bit heavier & deeper than the og but not by that much. I feel the og is brighter & sweeter but this is still good. Still sweet (toned down a little), my nose picks up the coconut & lavender more than anything. Some dampness to it but still fresh.

It smells like a deeper and more refined version of the edp. The big downside is that it loses some of its character by removing some of the sweetness, and the performance is horrendous; it's only 3 hours. It's a shame because I really love the opening and wanted to buy this, but it's just not worth it :/

Has less citrus than before. It's a bit more year round than just a summer scent now, that's it. I like the og best.

Cash grab for sure. It’s different from the og. Smell is good but does not last or project.

A darker version of Ocean Noir. The initial blast is really enjoyable. The oceanic smell disappears after an hour, and it turns into a generic blue fragrance. Reminds me of Bleu de Chanel for some odd reason. There's also the issue of longevity. It becomes a skin scent after three hours. As a big fan of the EDP, I think this is a huge fumble by Michael Malul. Test this before you buy a full bottle.

Tried both samples of the ocean noir and its parfum flanker. I waited for the hype to die down before trying them myself, this is absolutely NOT BLIND BUY SAFE! Both his ocean noir and parfum version go down that generic powdery sweet blue shower gel route. To me many other cheaper blue fragrances not only do it better but also last longer. Definitely has a misleading name as it’s more of a sweet blue than salty oceanic. The coconut smells dull and just add a slight creamy powdery touch. As far as the parfum goes I believe it’s actually closer to fierce than the original ocean noir. Do not buy these as the performance on skin and tester strips was actually embarrassing even after letting it sit for weeks. Unless you want to spend 130-140 on scented water with no performance then by all means waste your money. Imagine a fragrance influencer who talks constantly about performance and can’t even make a cologne from his own brand last longer than 5 hours on skin ouch!

Clean laundry scent. Definitely good for the office. Very moderate to intimate projection (for me). But I'm a little disappointed it lasts just a few hours. I'm not nose blind to any of my collection but perhaps this one. I love the way it smells but sort of lacks on the performance side.

I get some similarities to Hawas ice (I’m smelling both on paper strips right now). Except Hawas is brighter and much sweeter and sharper. Ocean noir Parfum is spicier, darker, slightly peppery comparatively, with more roundedness.
