I've worn South Slope several times, so I thought I knew this fragrance. Apparently, I was wrong. Yes, South Slope opens with a bright citrus combination of citron and Italian mandarin that makes me feel like I can pretend adulting doesn't suck. As it settles, the woods begin to come forward, the leather quietly makes itself known, and everything stays balanced from start to finish. What surprised me wasn't the citrus. It wasn't the woods. It was the sweetness. How in the world did I wear this fragrance before and somehow miss that? It wasn't loud. It wasn't cloying. It would drift in, disappear, then sneak right back in on the next breath. Before I knew it, I kept searching for it with every breath, wondering how I'd completely overlooked it. That's not something I expected, especially from a fragrance I thought I already had figured out. South Slope still gives me that clean, crisp, fresh feeling that makes me feel like I've got my life together, whether I actually do or not. But now there's another layer to it that I can't ignore. That balanced sweetness changes the entire experience without changing the character of the fragrance. Sometimes a fragrance doesn't need to change. Sometimes you just finally start paying attention.

I have to say this is a solid pick up. No it's not super unique or mind blowing but it's just really good . At first this is citrus fruity soapy clean. It starts to mellow out and picks up a slight creamy shower vibe. It reminds me of a less shower gel and less musky version of Narcisso Rodriguez Blue Noir EDP. As it continues to dry down the YSL Y EDP similarities comes up. It ends up settling in a Y EDP soapy slight citrus and light creamy dry down. What I really like about this fragrance is that it holds on to that airy clean citrus fruity creaminess all the way through . It doesn't fade away and just become something different. This can be worn year round. Very safe, great for work , date or just a daily. Not a projection beast , I'd say the first 45 min to an hours it pushes out but after that its a little scent bubble . The sillage is pretty good. 6 to 7 hours with 6 sprays . If you like fragrances like YSL Y , Azzaro Chrome, Narcisso Blue Noir, Invictus Aqua and airy soapy scents definitely give this a try. Solid atomizer and for what it's worth a nice box and decent presentation 7/10

This is a super handsome citrus-forward masculine fresh scent. It opens with a prominent mandarin note that's bright and zingy, but there's also a good bit of sweetness from the blackcurrant and some woodiness which give it a warmth and bit of depth. As it dries down and the top notes settle, the lavender comes forward to add some floral freshness and a touch of a soapy finish. The base notes keep it from fading away quickly, but the leather never becomes dominant enough to steer this into heavy territory. The overall accord is kind of traditional gentlemanly masculine but with a modern bent from the sweetness, and this is a really fantastic warm weather scent. The performance is average, about what you'd expect from a freshie like this one. I don't get much projection, but it hangs around as a skin scent for maybe 6 hours. Like many, I got it at Marshall's for $30 (be persistent, it took 4 or 5 trip there before I found it). and it's a no-brainer at that price.

Found this today at a discounter. Fantastic pick-up. Fruity blast to get your attention, fruit doesn't die in the opening, hangs around on skin at least three hours, though it does soften a good amount, letting the softness of the sandalwood come through making it smell almost fluffy and sweet in the mid, not marshmallow, but reminiscent of a marshmallow in terms of the sweetness and fluffiness. Meanwhile the ozonics are steady and strong, making the fragrance simultaneously smell fresh and clean. As it dries down the leather, wood and minty patchouli take over giving a sort of classic male fragrance. I'm not unhappy with this purchase and for the price I found it (30-40usd), if you're looking for a fruity, sweet, pillowy ozonic fragrance with nice development over the wear, grab it.

Almost like if Prada made a soapy YSL Y EDT intense. Just imagine it... I applied this morning, worked 9-5, and it's still going strong as a skin scent nearly 10 hours later. Stops projecting after 3 hours though, and doesn't last on clothes. The note composition is incredible, and amazing dumb reach/office scent. Because I got this at Marshalls for $30, this is easy to overspray all I want, and it's super mass appealing and pleasant! Already two compliments in 2 days. Overall subjective rating, 8.8/10

Super nice Blue style sent for grown ups. You get that youthful citrus with more mature aromatic notes that gives it a little more depth. A lot of blue scents for me are just mass appealing and a bit generic. This is definitely mass appealing but has a little more depth to seperate it from the pack. For warmer weather this could easily be an everyday scent And right now it's only 30 bucks at TJ

(South Slope is a re-brand of Blue Ridge) Versatile year-round, office friendly and affordable (from a discount retailer). Clean, fruity melon/watermelon opening that dries down to a nice mature woody leather scent that lasts a full work day. Great on its own, or layered with Club de Nuit Iconic.

got it for $30 at tj maxx i think and i get where people say y dna i also enjoy the fresh orange at the beginning but it fades away VERY quick and i get maybe an hour or two before its a full skin scent and needs a reapply but for $30 its an amazing scent just wish it had better longevity

I purchased this fragrance from Marshall's a couple of weeks ago for $29.99. So, value wise, this was an amazing purchase. This reminds me a little of YSL Y EDP, but not as strong. If you can find this at Marshall's or TJ Maxx, I strongly recommend you grab it.

Finally came across a bottle at my local Marshalls. It is true, it does give off that YSL Y vibe so if you have a bottle of any of those, perhaps you skip over this one, but if you don't and you can grab it on the low. Snatch it up, you won't regret it.

Picked this up from TJMAXX for 30 bucks. Not bad at all. Very safe and pleasant everyday wear type scent. Kinda smells like various aspects of a bunch of different bleu fragrances mixed together. Check your local store and grab one

Starting to wear this one with warmer weather. Great scent. Opens nicely with citrus the settles into the sandalwood on the dry down. Very nice scent.

This is my second Michael Malul fragrance. As a fresh fragrance lover and after trying Michael Malul Ginger + Mist, I was excited to see what else this brand had to offer. I blind bought this fragrance. For $30 at TJ Max, who wouldn’t? I would say that this fragrance doesn’t disappoint. The opening is bright and sweet, with mandarin and citrus. This is generally the type of DNA I gravitate towards. The dry down becomes more subtle, turning into a clean, soapy skin scent. This is an inoffensive scent that can easily be worn to work or in just about any setting. The biggest knock for me is the projection. I know that we often become nose blind to our fragrances, but to me this projected for no more than an hour. By hour 3 and 4 I could barely smell it anymore. To me, that’s bad. For $30 dollars at TJ max, I would say it is completely worth it. At the full retail price of $140, I would say save your money. Overall, this was an enjoyable fragrance, especially if you like fresh, clean scents. Overall: 7/10

It is ok: citrus, ozonic, woods to support... nothing special. At least it's not the same lavender bomb as all blue had... It has a little more character, but still safe and generic. Only worth getting it for Marshall's price. For this price, it is really solid.

For the $30 I paid for it, well worth it. It’s an easy, dumb reach that does its job. I can understand why they charge $120-$130 retail however this is a $65 fragrance. So at $30 (TJ Maxx or Marshall’s), it’s well worth grabbing and having in your collection.

It’s alright, for retail it’s not worth it but at $30 Marshall’s price it’s worth trying. Has that Y dna, soapy aquatic feel. One big downside is that the drydown has a “cardboardy” smell, but I get that with Y and some of the flankers as well.

This is the safest bet Michael Malul x Gentsscents collab fragrance (renamed from Blue Ridge). Terra Nova is really good as well. For the price, this is a really good wear.

#1664 in my “Tour de Fragrance” A very bright, citron-forward freshie. Everyone is familiar with YSL “Y” and flankers, so it’s the first thing that comes to mind. It did for me too, except for the citron. This scent is identical to Michael Malul “Blue Ridge.” Maybe they just renamed it? Strong opening, nice silage, very nice dry down, moderate performance, like all aromatic freshies. But let’s talk price. FragranceNet and Jomashop want $140 for this? A ridiculous price to pay for any citrus freshie. FragranceX is less greedy with an $88 dollar price. I’ve had Rayhaan’s “Pacific Aura” for a few months. “Pacific Aura” gives you everything this has, and more, with a fig note that I think makes it a warmer freshie. But if you prefer a little sharpness this may be your jam. "Pacific Aura" goes for $42. Same quality, virtually identical scent for less. One reviewer found this Malul scent at TJ Maxx for $30. If you find this for $30 I’d absolutely say get it. Certainly worth $30. But a citrus freshie is a citrus freshie. Nothing in the scent world is more interchangeable. I wouldn’t pay for any citrus freshie EDT, and not more than $50 for any citrus freshie EDP. They really are all just 4711 Aqua Colonia with more perfume oil. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure how this fragrance has received such a high rating. I bought this for a heavily discounted price of $46 CAD, and despite what most people are saying, I don't even think it's worth that price. I have a $14 YSL Le Parfum dupe, and South Slope smells quite similar to that but just marginally better. For a fragrance that normally retails for $120+ that's shocking. While the scent was not noticably synthetic, it didn't seem to be high quality either- it was very basic and thin. I don't just mean thin as in performance (even though it was that too), I mean the actual scent profile seemed unfinished, top-heavy, and lacked any real depth. Don't get me wrong, South Slope is not a bad fragrance, but it's very overpriced, basic, and lacks high-end quality. What a disappointment from Ash. This is just a cash-grab "I want to smell basic but be different" rendition of every basic blue designer fragrance.

Shocked by how soft and safe of a blue scent this is. It might be one of the most 'gentle' colognes I've ever come across. I'd be upset if I paid anything close to the original price, but at $30 it was a decent get from TJ Maxx. Makes a good gift to someone new to fragrances who might not yet have trigger discipline. I got West Loop in the same trip and that fragrance is about 10x more interesting.

Forgettable scent - nothing that will impress or make you feel good about your purchase. Luckily I got it from Marshall's for $30. To spend any more than $30 for this would be robbery. Poor longevity- my bottle performance last about 20 minutes, immediately fading to a skin scent.

This perfume retails at $140. I found it, by chance at $29.99. Even at that price it’s overpriced. It’s a basic generic lavender/cypress/cedar fragrance. Can’t even talk about the citrus notes because all I got was an overwhelming alcohol blast that almost knock me out.

I found this at TJMaxx and brought it home. I've chosen to sell it because there is something unsettling about the top notes. The soapy note reminds me of an old person's bathroom. The good news for most of you is this is a personal association of mine, and that smell fades quickly in the dry down. I also own another bottle that is a similar profile, but drastically outperforms this bottle - That bottle is Armaf Dunescape, and it has none of the weird top note. I think most people will like SS, but its not for everyone.

Snagged this for $29 at Marshalls and it definitely reminds of the YSL Y DNA. It is certainly well blended and doesn't do anything new or unique but you can not deny it's quality. If it smells goood ya wear it and this damn sure smells good. For me it definitely reminds me more of the Eau Fraiche side of the DNA and adds a touch of salty aquatic accord found in the modern aquatics of late like the Cobalts and Le Beau's of the world so it sits between a tradtional older school "fresh" blue aquatic and the current take on the aquatic. The citrus elements are fantastic and nothing about this smells cheap. Great pick up at the right price

Great scent, a classic super clean well blended fresh fragrance. The citrus notes are sharp and realistic, reminiscent of bohemian lime where it surprises you how realistic and non-synthetic they can smell. Performance is average for a summer scent, but I can't wait to try this out in high heat. The atomizer on the bottle is also amazing. Picked this up at a department store for ~$45 USD, which is incredible value. If you can find this under $90 USD it's definitely worth a try, but at the $140 original price, is fairly overpriced given it's performance.

Look opening is clean then goes into a woody leather weak skin layer that smells clean again but manly like the Irish green soap Is this worth the retail price? Absolutely not is it worth winners/marshalls prices? 60$ cad is pushing it wait for an open box lol 34$ is ok. It’s a basic clean scent that imma abuse when I go to work, just like sea+zephyr this is so safe to wear you might as well swim in it. This company from what I see is not worth retail 150$ for a weak or basic scent is nothing crazy It’s okay but like 40-60$ is better CAD btw not USD 🤣

TJ Maxx blind buy at $29.99. It's within 90% of Hawas Ice, so if you have that, this would be redundant, and vice versa. South Slope is less intense than Hawas Ice, but it does roughly the same bubblegum lavender thing. It's sweet and might get cloying in very warm temperatures, but I have not yet had the chance to try it in such conditions. All in all, this is fine, but its scent profile is not unique in the slightest. Good for $30 if you don't have something else like it already.

The guy below me @esteban747 is on point. I feel for those who at one point or another paid more than the $30 Marshalls is selling it for. This is your basic dupe of YSL Y with zero lasting power. Like many of the reviews here, YT, or TT, do not fall for the hype. My experience with Michael Malul is designer prices for one-hour scents. The guy from Gent Scents is a genius for milking it as much as he does.

This sits squarely in between YSL Y Live and Varvatos XX Artisan Teal - a bit too musky and perfumey for my liking, and a bit too generic of a scent for what I thought was a higher end brand. Not amazing lasting power, but a nice enough fragrance. I just don’t think I’ll reach for it much, it leans strongly towards Y Live.

Apparently marshalls got this for 29 bucks because I'm not the only one who just got it there and it's just a super nice mass appealing blue fragrance like a YSL y without the apple and more patchouli

This is a fantastic fragrance, I don’t get the generic some people are saying. I think it’s quite a versatile unique wear that leans mostly summer/spring but could easily be an everydayer for sure.

Smells like JV Artisan Teal and Y Fraiche. Lasts and projects well off my skin. Got it for $30 at TJ Maxx. Well worth the price for this dna and quality
